I've heard about the Steak Corral for a while and finally decided I should stop in for dinner. I am pleasantly Being the first time here it can be confusing when first walking in. A host takes your order and if you have salad you grab the tray and make your own bowl of salad with your choice of toppings and dressing. Usually when they call it a salad bar you are able to make additional trips back if you want to, in this case it is a one time trip. Fill your glass with your favorite drink and then to the register, I was shocked when the total bill was less then $20. This is the only place I know of locally that you can get a ribeye dinner for this price. While waiting for the dinner plate I enjoyed my salad and checked out the decor. There are a lot of western items throughout and it could probably use a refresh as it is dated, but then again it probably wouldn't be the same. When the dinner plate came I realized that there is a separate section to self serve any toppings you would like, I had a baked potato so of course I loaded it up with butter, cheese, bacon bits and cheese. The steak was well cooked, meat was tinder and had good flavor. Overall it was a great dinner and definitely worth the price! I will be back. read more

Great food always made fresh and exactly how you ask. All the salad dressings are homemade , and the salad bar is always fresh and replenished. As well as the condiments bar, they even have steak toppers like grilled onions,mushrooms, and bell peppers at NO additional cost. Services is always great. Everyone is so friendly, helpful, and attentive. This place is very family-friendly and also cost friendly. It can get a bit busy at times and va little messy, but what family-friendly establishment doesn't. If you haven't been, you're definitely missing out. My family has been coming here for a loooomg time. The prices are reasonable the steaks are on point. It's a cafeteria type place were you walk in and place ypur order, pick up your utensils, salads and drinks, pay up front and choose a table. The main course and hot sides get deliverd to your table. The theme is strongly carried through from the satue outside to the outdated decor.. If you can get passed the dirty dining area you'll be okay. This place deserves a serious face lift or just a good cleaning. It's definitely one of those places where the food is so enjoyable that you risk possibly getting sick. Lol I'm not sure if that makes sense to anyone else. Normally the appearance of the dining area would be a deal breaker for me and maybe because it's somewhat of a tradition that we come here that gives this place the green light for me. Well I start off talking about the food. It was very mediocre now the the salad was good ! But what makes it terrible and makes all these different restaurants close down is these girls with terrible attitudes? They just hate being there they just hate being alive. I've lived in Whittier going on close to 20 years and have passed the Steak Corral thousand times but never dined here. Well that ended today as we stopped in for dinner and we're pleasantly surprised. I loved the old skool ambiance and western decor with soft country music playing in the background. You begin your dinning experience with a self serve salad bar that came with all the fixings. The salad bar options was very fresh and came with plenty of options including tasty dressings and toppings. The welcoming host also takes your order, I had the grilled chicken breast and my wife ordered the rib eye. All entries come with 2 sides and garlic toast. My grilled chicken was well portioned and grilled to perfection. My wife enjoyed the rib eye that came with a baked potato. We really enjoyed our dinning experience and couldn't believe it took this long to dine here. Their prices are also very reasonable and staff very attentive. A staff member offered us extra baked potatoes that weren't purchased and boxed them up for us as we left, which was very nice. We're already making plans to come back and will bring family and friends. read more

Food compared to pricing is surprisingly great. I thought the cuts would lack given the price but it is very good. The sides and portions are great. The staff is super friendly and even when it's close to closing time, the staff doesn't rush you and let you finish without feeling like they're kicking you out. I have 37 years of memories eating here, and I don't think one yelp review will do this place justice. Steak Corral is an iconic landmark for Whittier. It is a great family restaurant at affordable prices. Food has been consistent since day 1. Steve the owner is very personable and always makes time to talk to my grandpa. I really love the salad bar. I love the sliced beets, croutons, and French dressing. I typically order the 8oz ground sirloin. It pairs perfectly with the hamburger relish at the potato bar. I sometimes get a steak and those are also yummy. I love the potato bar, there are so many toppings! The cheese toast is wonderful here. As a kid, I'd order the grilled cheese sandwich, and once in a while I'm tempted to order one now. Steak Corral survived the pandemic, which many restaurants did not, especially those with salad bars. I hope to continue to dine here for generations to come. read more

I would give this place a zero if I could. Where do I start? The restaurant was dingy and dirty. The carpet looked filthy and on my way to the table I stepped over crumbs. I wanted to walk out but thought, maybe the food is good... I ordered the rib eye well done, it was medium rare and lacked flavor. You know it's not a good thing when you have add salt to a steak that should be flavored and seasoned well when it's ready to eat. The baked potato was not tasty either, which was disappointing. How can you get that wrong...The onion rings were disgusting, we took a bite and left them all there. My favorite part was my Diet Coke, that's it! Also, the service was not good, I had no idea that we would have to get up and pour out drinks, get our utensils and condiments. This defeats the purpose of not wanting to do anything and treat yourself to a nice meal. Next time I'm just going back to a real steak house like Ruth Chris, this place is not worth it. read more

To my delight, I really enjoyed my meal here. Shyanne greeted us upon arriving. She was so nice and explained their dining options. We ordered and took a seat. The decor really got me, it's all western with a chichi feel. The elabirste decor added to the mood of the meal with a low light romance to the room. What jumped out at us besides our delicious meal was the staff. They were very friendly and give Shyanne a raise, girl was wearing all the hats: hostess, cashier, wait staff, and bussing tables. WOW. REALLY GREAT SERVICE AND REALLY GREAT FOOD! Today (4/16/21/) we went to dinner (3) and we loved it. It seemed pretty empty around 6:30, and it quickly begin to fill. We ordered 1 steak sandwich, 1 8oz chicken breast plate, and 1 steak sandwich w/ drinks. Came out to about 40.00. It was really good! The food came out hot and fast and DAMN THAT SALAD IS STILL EVERYTHING! LOL. It's a bit different, we cannot get our own salad and our own fixings for the baked potatoes, but the forks were really on it today. They have a lot of high schoolers helping out and I really loved that. This young man with a cute little fro? Like light brown curly hair was always telling us "god bless" and "no problem mam" it was adorable. He really went out of his way to give us an amazing service with our dinner. What a wonderful westaurant! My family and I were regulars at their West Covina location when I was a kid and it was a real treat to go back to this incredible little gem for dinner last night. My group kept asking why we don't come here more often, and now we will. 1960s cowboy themed affordable steakhouse with a friendly casual atmosphere supercharged by Western props and furnishings and capped by a friendly logo mascot outside who channels the spirit of Bob's Big Boy as a cowboy. The salad bar is literally a giant chuckwagon that everyone gathers around. TLDR; a cheaper alternative to other steakhouses - but you get what you pay for. Steak Corral is a staple in Whittier among other restaurants. However, this restaurant does not do a good job in maintaining a cleanly environment. The salad bar is cold but when the rest of the restaurant seems icky, it sort of follows you wherever you go. The prices are super affordable but the meat quality is nothing special - just your average steak. The menu is fairly simple and the accuracy of the steak temp is hit or miss. The bathrooms are suuuuuuper small and dirty. If you decide to patron here, at least you know what to expect. read more
