Old time rustic steakhouse. The employees were friendly and helpful. The service was great and the staff checked on regularly. You enter the restaurant and are greeted by staff and they take your order. Then you go down the line a grab your salad if you chose that as one of your sides. Also, you grab your soft drink and silverware before paying. You find a table and wait for your food. They have a self serve potato bar and hot self serve steak toppings bar. Steaks were good, sides were good and the garlic bread was tasty. Prices were good. This is not a high end steakhouse, but more on par with sizzler quality, and a more family friendly vibe! If co you're looking for a good steak, with an old time feel, then head down to Steak Corral!

Hey Yelp fam!!! Paid a visit to our cousins in Whittier and She highly recommended this spot that she's been coming to for years it was her dad's spot. So I had high hopes! Lot of mixed reviews but this one is mine and I'm not pulling punches!!! Wouldn't do us no favors if I did. It's has a cool atmosphere indoor lots of old west decor pretty cool. Sort of a cafe style diner. You place your order when you walk in. There's an option to get a salad bar with your basic options they use iceberg lettuce and basic toppings not bad but difficult to serve yourself. If you order a baked potato like I did they have a potato topping bar also. I had the porterhouse steak medium. The steak was unevenly cooked some parts were medium rare while other parts were medium well and pretty tough to chew also. Friendly staff was a plus. Overall the atmosphere and service were good the food on the other hand needs a little refinement I believe the cooks need a bit of training.

It is what it is. Nothing fancy, but food is good. Service, not so much. My daughter and I walked in, first time here. We didn't know whether to sit down or not. Nobody out front. Girl showed up, asked us if we were ready to order. I told her we've never been here before. She just said.. the menu is up there. She didn't give us any direction. We ordered with her, she finally told us to go down the salad bar and the cashier is at the end, when we sat down and they brought the plates, the baked potato was naked. I asked for condiments and server was like... it's over there and posted to an island. I said do we just get it ourselves? Yes. So my daughter and I walked up with our plates just expecting the bare minimum. Boy was I wrong! They had a rub of butter and sour cream with all the fixin's. Au jous, grilled onions, gravy, cheese, etc to top your steak. I love condiments!!! Though the only downside was that everything a had film over it like it's been sitting there awhile, we had gone at opening. Oh.... We ordered the 5 oz sirloin. Daughter hit salad bar and baked potato. I hit salad bar and onion rings. Lady at the front did tell us when we were ordering that if we wanted to go back to the salad bar, it would be $1.50 more, onion rings were crunchy! Just the way I like them! I put $$ in the tip jar for the cook. Go back for the food, not the serviceI

    The prices are great!

My first time back in a few years. I decided on dinner tonight. The restaurant hasn't changed along the lines of its casual western ambiance. The service was top notch and the prices are great! Ample parking, cozy restaurant, wonderful ambiance. My Entree consisted of the extra cut porterhouse steak medium rare, a baked potato and a trip to the salad bar. The salad was really good as salads go. Baked potato good as usual with all the toppings and the grilled toast was as good as I remember it. The porterhouse steak on the other hand, was a complete and total let down. Thin, (most probably less than a pound) and loaded with tough gristle. The quality of this steak was nothing like I recall and they really shouldn't be serving it. I'd suggest sourcing a much higher quality, thicker porterhouse and just up the price. They know how to cook a steak so it shouldn't be a stretch. People will pay more for a great well rounded food experience. Don't let this be the beginning of the end. Dessert consisted of a warm slice of cherry pie and a cup of coffee. The cherry pie could be better. Its the crust thats letting it down and the coffee, well I'm sad to say, they need to up their coffee game. A lot. Might I suggest ordering your coffee from Sheldrake Coffee Roasting in Long Beach. I'll stop by again and try a different cut of meat. As for the steak, hopefully this was a one off.

    Chihuahua

NEVER AGAIN! I've been coming here for 40 years with family and by myself. I always order grilled cheese sandwiches because they are the best. This last time I went to do a take out order, and when I got to the waiting area, I saw a chihuahua sitting in one of the chairs by the grill. During the waiting process, one of the workers occasionally came out of the kitchen to handle the dog and then go back into the kitchen, several times with food preparationimplements in his hands. Not only is it completely illegal to have pets in a restaurant, it's absolutely disgusting that someone who handles people's food is also playing with a dog. They have lost my future business, and the business of all who I have shared this with so far.

There's not much more to say about Steak Corral other than that it is by far THE BEST steakhouse around for the price. Steak Corral has been providing the greater Whittier community with quality steaks and potatoes for decades. Steak Corral is a true American steakhouse classic. I regularly dine here and have never had a bad experience. Such a gem to have such a throwback in this chaotic world. If you dine here, ask for Liz. She's the best server I've ever had .

Porterhouse with baked potatoes and cheese toast.. yum

I recently visited this place after about 10yrs. I always thought this was a decent restaurant for price friendly steaks. I ordered the porterhouse medium. And i have to say i was not disappointed. Salad and drinks are self serve before you pay, then entrees are served directly at table. Self serve all your potatoes fixing. A different concept but it works. check out my plate.

Love the old school western looking steakhouse vibe. Like others on Yelp mention, like Sizzler from the 70's. Family run as well. Food - Both of our steaks had lots of grisle or hard pieces like fat. This was not good. Even though they were ordered "medium" they were tough. Even the filet Mignon was tough. We wanted to love it but didn't. Baked potatoes were good and we liked the salad bar style or adding toppings and the salad bar as well. Wanted to love it, but just can't today. Having said that, the prices for steak were very inexpensive so our expectations weren't too high. Probably good for budget friendly dining. Nice not to have to pay $50+ for a steak.

    Isn't that cute

Amazing place! First of all it's not the sit down and order. You come in look at the menu and the wagon wheels place your order. Then they have a salad bar which is separate You pay separately it doesn't come with the meals. I suppose it's sort of pricey but you are definitely getting a good cut of meat. No cheap cuts of meat here. They even have pie and ice cream for your dessert. I got a kick out of the bathroom decor and the toddlers have a miniature horse with a saddle and it's cute as all get out. I hope the best time it was so cute Great service by the way. I think you're going to love this place if you want to come give it a chance. You can get a burger here also you know. They have their own parking lot. Bon appetit

Nothing has changed since my last visit to the Santa Ana location 45 or so years ago. It's a fun affordable steakhouse. You order when you enter then go down the line to make your salad, get a drink then pay. Sit anywhere you want. This isn't a high-end steakhouse, but the steaks are delicious. I had the Porterhouse with a salad, and baked potato. I also got a large sundae. When the food comes, they have a condiment bar for your meat and potatoes. There're also toppings to make your sundae. It's a fun place that you can bring the kids. I wish they could find another Santa Ana location to open.

    Porterhouse over cooked. Canned beans
    Michael S.

Overall this is ok for the price. Always wanted to try it but they should know how to cook a steak for a steak house. Service was outstanding. I don't mind dog friendly places but not in the kitchen. Not sure if the gentleman was an employee or not but he carried a dog into the kitchen.
