I guess this place would be a hit or miss store. Everything is used and some of it was dirty and I felt the prices were great on doors but not on appliances. I won't visit the Mesa store again, and likely won't give any other location a chance. It was an absolute disaster and there was no way to look at what we needed to look at - namely, an exterior door. There were SO MANY doors, completely jammed together, and with no organization of any kind that we could tell. All sizes and types just jammed together - no differentiation between exterior doors, closet doors, interior doors; different heights and widths interspersed with each other. There were so many shoved into the spaces that we could not tilt them apart to look at or measure them, and the aisles were crammed with so much other random stuff that we couldn't even pull doors out to get a look or take a measurement. Not worth it even for the savings when you can just drive a little further to the Re/Store and actually have a selection of items that are accessible, measurable, with clear aisles not filled with other crap, on and on. A large inventory is useless if that inventory is unshopable. read more

Wow such a professional deconstruction of my kitchen. They even swept the floors after all the cabinets were taken out The guys that removed the cabinets tried extremely hard to avoid any damage to the walls. Hard to avoid when some of the cabinets had been glued on. Even with those cabinets they carefully tried to ease them off the wall. Timely and quick. Arrival was 7am and they were here at 7am. read more

I love this place!! Have rescued many home parts and salvaged pieces over the years from Here. Flipped ten houses in ten years using all materials from here. It's not easy, clean, (filthy actually) cheap (in the long run) or safe sometimes..... but it's worth it to have unique and unusual conversation pieces in your home. This place has wonderful finds like cabinets, doors, sinks, and hardware for the sink, shutters of many sizes, cabinets. I find different things with each visit. There are great discounts for seniors on these already low priced items. There's always help available for loading too. Sometimes there are buried treasures and you must dig deeply. read more

This store is worse then the Glendale store. Employees are always sitting around doing nothing. Won't assist you and never acknowledge you. Dustin is about the only employee there that is doing much of anything from what I can tell. Better off going to big box stores. Take your time and money elsewhere, you'll be glad you did. I absolutely adore this place. If I didn't live 30 min away, I would go there several times a week. Every time I go, I wander up every single aisle looking at everything for hours. I'm a new homeowner and I'm always needing new things. This place is a true godsend. I'm able to get neat things nearly free (chandelier for $5, garden stool for $20, entire pallet of brick $100). The manager (wish I could remember his name) is the nicest guy I've ever met. If you watch HGTV or Flea Market Flip, this is your candy store. There's so much building supplies and random household objects, you'll have a new project every weekend without breaking the bank. If you're a crafter, it's a must. I got ceramic tiles for about 50 cents each for a mosaic project, backsplash tile for maybe a dollar? They have countless doors, windows, cabinets, door knobs, appliances, light fixtures. I know it is non-profit. It is good for the environment. I know this place creates value out of what other people may be throwing away. Aside from all the altruistic aspects of this business being green and finding use for waste, the reason I love Stardust Building Supply is because they have saved me $1000s of dollars. There are basically two ways this place can help you: FIRST: If you are tearing something down to update or replace and you need to get rid of the old stuff. Although it still works, you know you cannot store it.....Most tend to throw things away. A few loads to the dump, can and does cost $100s, but you shouldn't! Stardust will come and take half of your things and save you $100s in dump fees and you get a tax break!!!......REALLY! SECOND: If you are building something: - a. You need an in-home a dance studio and need a wall of mirrors, go to Stardust....pay $45 for your wall of mirrors instead of $2000. - b. New Cabinet doors.....Stardust. - c. White Whirlpool microwave stopped working the day your warranty expired and don't want to pay $300 for a new one. Get the exact same model a Stardust for a third. - d. Decided you should upgrade to 6 panel interior doors when it costs you less than $300 installed because of Stardust had them on the floor. Stardust takes requests too! If they don't have what you want in inventory, they will put an astrick in the computer and call you when it does come in.....YES!!! I have used Stardust for all of the above scenarios, these are real stories for myself over the last few years. Stardust seems to be run by handymen, so if you need a handyman for these projects, ask, and they may be able to refer you to someone who is reputable. Stardust is a great resource and I am truly excited about how and what they have to offer. It must be hit or miss here, but, more misses than anything - and I now remember why I hadn't been back in years. I think what I found off putting is they had two windows that I liked, right size, brand, and style, except they wanted $400 each for them. The bad - I can get the same windows from a local store brand new for $389. You may find a gem every once in a while, but, many of the items were just beat and worn down, $300 for an over the range microwave? Again - you can get brand new for less! Stardust Building Supplies is awesome! First of all, think of all of the material that is diverted from the landfill and put back to reuse. Mind you, Stardust is not a recycling center but the way they recycle is back taking good quality products and repurposing those products back into use. While Stardust will accept a lot of things, they always make sure you ask the question, is this something that I would be willing to put into my house? Next, Stardust really does have great prices! You can literally save thousands of dollars,which is why people are willing to drive a thousand miles to purchase from Stardust, load up their trailer, and drive a thousand miles back home. There are truly so few stores like it! I have seen a cabinet set, made out of high quality wood that usually sells for $15000 to $20000 new, sell for $3000 at Stardust! I have seen an entire kitchen full of high quality, high brand appliances, stainless steel, sell for about $2000. And sometimes their products are brand new! You can literally get an entire house full of brand new windows for about $1000 to $1500. What makes the Stardust experience really worth it? The fact that you can go there, find a great deal, get great customer service, and also know that you are benefitting the environment and helping the community. You should sleep like a baby after your trip to Stardust! Remember that Stardust is a non-profit organization that donates and gives their time to help veterans, battered womans shelters, and many other organizations that help the needy in our community. It would be a crime for you to not visit Stardust and make them a part of your weekly shopping experience! Finally, to top it off, remember that Stardust has sales almost every week on top of their already low prices, especially the %25 percent around the time of most major holidays! This place is Totally AWESOME! We've been roaming the isles for years when we do small projects around the house! Recently, we remodeled our home office and wanted some built in cabinets. We had a tight budget so after pricing out the basic at Homefront st $1,100 bucks I was a bit sad. Then...lightbulb! I'll check out the D.I. And Tadaah! Upgraded cabinets that were middle of the road as far as style with top and bottoms. They even came with nice handles. So for $350 bucks I got 9 cabinets that were nicer then the Home Depot ones. They were in gently used condition and one cabinet did have a small hole in the back but some wood and contact paper made it unnoticeable! My husband and I were in the store and we found a slab of granite. The white price tag was $150. When purchasing there was another yellow price tag for $350 on back of slab. The rude young man at the front desk would not honor the hundred $150 price tag on the slab. On inspecting there was actually two $150 price tag on the slab. The young skinny man was very rude and very unprofessional. Never been treated so badly. I have read other reviews on how people were treated badly at this store. If I could I would give it negative stars. We talked to the manager at the mesa store and told him we were redoing our kitchen. They were going to come take the cabinets and counter tops out but couldn't get to it in time, so I removed all the cabinets and counter tops myself. I loaded everything on a trailer so we could take them there. We told him that one of the cabinets (sink) had water damage. They said no problem bring them by. When we got there to unload the cabinets Bob looked at them and said the he doesn't know why we brought them down and said they would trash them anyway. He was very rude and acted like we were troubling him to do his job. VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED with my whole experience with them. Would rather take all my stuff to the dump than back there. read more

i've been here numerous times. it's very hit or miss. if i knew how to hang cabinets, this would be my store. they have some good stuff, lots of old, not really any good stuff. i've heard people have found top of the line appliances on some occasions. this trip we found box of mexican tiles for 15 bucks (at lowe's they cost 4 bucks each), and an old gate that we plan to take apart and make into a bar. like i said, sometimes they have good finds and sometimes not. they also take drop-offs mon-sat. Bring a truck because some of the stuff you might buy is very large! read more

We went in looking for a desk. They had counter top pieces, 45 inches, 60 inches and 120 inches were all priced at $60. We politely asked if we could get three of the smaller counter tops for the price of one 120 inches piece and the guy on the forklift curtly replied "nope. You can get them for $120." and barely looked my husband in the eye and continued driving around in the forklift. Why would they even be selling the smaller ones for the price of one large one if they weren't willing to make some kind of bargain? Completely unnecessary response and has made us not want to ever come back to get treated like that again. read more

Used to be a great place with everything organized and a neat and orderly store. Lots of selection of quality "gently used" items. Something has changed in the last year or so. It has gotten a lot more junky with items scattered, things falling into aisles, a lot less appealing in its appearance. If you're into spending more time sifting through more less quality items, this may still be the place for you. But even places that deal with donated items should learn that you eventually have to cut the apron strings and get rid of the stuff that seriously has no chance of being sold. read more

I like the idea of reusing usable appliances and other household items. However when I tried using this facility for a dishwasher it seemed like a bit of a seedy operation. they advertise a dishwasher online as in excellent condition and by all appearances it looked in good shape. When asked to test it out before purchase they drug there feet to the point I just took it on faith that it worked. They never did take the online ad down after purchase. When installing it that night I could not get it to work, after searching online I was able to go through diagnostic mode but it never worked after that. I had some led lights on the control panel but could not get it to go through any wash cycles. I returned the item the next day and they indicate only store credit is available. that is fine but the issue is all other dishwashers there are crap and not worth buying. It seems like a classic bait and switch scam to get your money and have you settle for a lesser product than you desire. It seems like they keep the ad up as the dishwasher looks great so they can sell multiple times and after return they keep your money so the make lots of $$$ read more

I'm always for re-purposing and recycling, but... Pretty messy place. Couldn't find anything that I could use. Lots of stuff is well used and sometimes bordering on junk with little to no value left. I think maybe you just have to be there at the right time for the right stuff. Time maybe better spent at yard sales or flea market. read more
