On a nice, rainy, mid November day I decided tk treat myself to a nice Short, dry, double cappuccino so I stopped by a lovely little Starbucls on the way home.... What a pleasant place! Christmas music, lovely interior, bustling with people coming and going, all sipping on their hot little treasures. First of all, my cappuccino was made perfectly - not with milk, but foam! And the lovely lady helping me, her name was Jane, made my day with her smile and efficient manners - she even gave me a quick taste of their new Xmas bland (I guess she saw me eye balling the bag of beans). I love this Starbucks! They don't have indoor seating instead they have plenty of outdoor seating. The clover vertica brews each cup of coffee fresh. Whenever I go they always have my coffee ready before I get there. Staff is also very friendly too!! read more

I won't be coming back to this Starbucks. No pleasant way to start my Saturday morning. As I walk in the young lady making coffee made eye contact with me she looked miserable and angry didn't even acknowledge me, So OK I get it sometimes we just have bad days. Still very disappointing experience as I am walking in. On a positive note, an older lady who seemed busy did acknowledge me twice with "I'll be right with you," as I waited at the register to place my order. I continue to wait, which seemed to take a while, but again the older lady acknowledged me which made the waiting OK. However, when a young man finally came over to take my order he simply asked, "What can I get for you?" No eye contact with a very serious demeanor I felt like I was bothering him. Then he just said you can pick up your coffee on the other side. What happened to customer service. It seems like these young employees are not being taught the basics of customer interaction, and their appearance of the young lady making coffee added to the unprofessional atmosphere. Its just disappointing to see the decline in customer service nowadays. I discover a Starbucks in Walnut Creek. I wasn't expected to order a drink at this location but I needed to use their restroom since I had Kung Fu Kitchen. I never heard of Palos Verdes Mall until I discover the place from Yelp! It is a nice location to walk around. This Starbucks location is nice. It is located in a nice shopping center up in the hills. Outside tables to sit down and watch people shopping in the center. I had good service at this location. They allow me to use their restroom after I mobile order my drink. read more

There aren't too many food options within Palos Verdes Mall. You've got a Thai food restaurant, a pricey burger joint, a store that's been advertising that a taqueria is supposed to be going in there for the past 2 and a half years. And then there's this Starbucks. I can't really say that there's anything glorious about this Starbucks compared to all of their other locations. But, I'm happy that it's there for me when I'm craving before my visits to the Beauty Lounge. It's always clean. They're always prompt. There's always a place for me to park. The staff is nice. They've never screwed up my Chai latte and I'm so grateful for that. In a shopping center where there really isn't much to begin with in terms of restaurants and coffee shops, it's nice to know that I can always count on this Starbucks to be there for me. When I'm in the Palos Verdes Mall, you best believe that I'll poppin' by this Starbucks for my regular drink fix. read more

Anyone else need their morning cup of joe to really wake up? My husband and I enjoy our morning coffee stop on our way in to work. We have tried multiple Starbucks and none compare to this one. Starbucks used to be known for their bright and cheery staff, leaving cute notes on the cups in the morning, always happy and playful. I have expereinced this much less freqently in the recent years and have even wondered if they had made changes to their training process. This location changed my mind, I think it comes down to the store Managers. You feel a difference walking into this Starbucks location. My coffee is always made perfect, regradless of which employee makes it. I always here a good morning and a farewell. This is training and quality hiring. I am a huge fan of this location. Friendly staff and great service. Any city may provide you with a large number of Starbucks on every other street corner. What makes a difference between them? Simply put- The staff. I'm not sure if I'm considered a "regular", but I swing through often enough that I'm recognized by the people working behind the counter. When I'm greeted pleasantly and treated respectfully, I notice. Our family stopped by here on a recent Saturday afternoon after a refreshing hike at Briones Park, being pleasantly surprised we could find a Starbucks only a few minutes away. This Starbucks is more your traditional, local coffee shop. Situated in a nice neighborhood, in a quiet mall with ample parking, this Starbucks had us on its side from the start. We were greeted with friendly and quick service, and found a table to enjoy our well-made coffees. This is a rather smallish Starbucks: I counted six tables and a couple armchairs indoors; there are also a few outdoor tables. Still, there were available places to sit this mid-weekend afternoon. They are not open very late - holiday hours were in effect when we visited and some days closing time was around 5 PM. Although many Starbucks in the Walnut Creek/Pleasant Hill neck of the woods are bustling places located in high-traffic areas, if you are seeking a quieter alternative, this might be just the place. read more

Did you know that Starbucks has Caramel Apple Cider?! Yes! I had no idea, until I came in today looking for a light alternative to coffee or tea. Marissa, the barista, made a deelicious Caramel Apple Cider! She told me that it's her favorite drink. She makes it different than other baristas because she squeezes the caramel onto the sides of the cup to allow the caramel to blend into the hot beverage. If it's on the top, it just sinks down to the bottom of the cup. She also mixes it all in the pitcher, to make sure the drink blends well. I took a sip when she was done customizing my order. YUM! If you want Caramel Apple Cider, make sure you go to this location, and make sure that Marissa, the barista, makes the drink for you. Happy holiday drinks! read more

I've experienced better customer service for sure. Just visited today. I ordered 2 black iced teas, unsweetened. 1 with water, 1 without. The cashier seemed preoccupied laughing and giggling with the other female barista so that may have been why my order was wrong. Walking out, I tasted both teas and they were sweetened. Walking back up to the barista, I politely said, "the order is wrong, both teas are sweetened, I asked for un-sweetened." The short dark-haired barista, with glasses made 2 fresh teas. When she didn't apologize, I then felt bad and said, "sorry". Stupid habit of mine. Obviously she didn't have the habit to apologize even when she was wrong. Without looking at me, or offering a smile, or "sorry", she half-hazardly set down my drinks and turned away. Didn't bother identifying to me which was with water or which was without. Still, I said, "have a nice day"....when I should have just asked for a refund and walked out due to her surly, unfriendly and customer "un-service" behavior. Always surprising to me to find an unreviewed Starbucks. This place is in the quaint Palos Verdes Shopping Center that is under perpetual construction. This Starbucks takes after its shopping center with it's quaintness and design. Starts are only for the staff - Literally the nicest you'll probably ever enounter. Funny how something like remembering your name and drink order can totally make your day (although only one girl remembers mine...but she's so nice and I see they remember others so the all get credit :) Speed - this is why they don't get a 5. Not always, but more then once a week (I go daily), the slowest startbucks I've ever been to....line, no line, if one guy is behind the counter or on bar I know I'm in for a long wait.
