    Dirty and dingy

Wow. Just when I thought service couldn't get any worse, it does . Not even a hello when walking in or anything. The dude who took my order wouldn't even make eye contact or smile. It appears that the entire staff of three was a bad mood and wouldn't even smile at the rest of the customers. Then the bathrooms, dirty, no paper and dingy.... Worst Starbucks ever.

I travel throughout the east bay for work - so I make a lot of drink and bathroom stops. I appreciate all the good drinks and available restrooms! I stopped in this location for just a Misti - which was delicious (it varies depending on the location in my experience)! Walked in around 730 AM and it was quite busy as one would expect. Staff greeted me so nicely ( felt like Norm)! My drink was ready at the bar as I had done a mobile order. I grabbed it and left right away. When I went to the car to take a sip of my drink I saw the oh so positive and encouraging words "You're doing great"! It made my day to say the least! Thank you everyone at this location for the good drinks, service and good vibes! The music is always great here and the whole place just has good energy! I look forward to continued pleasant visits!

The cashier was very sweet, and the barista with short hair and glasses was very sweet on making sure our drinks were made right and tasted good

I'm not really a Starbucks' kinda guy. The coffee is a bit too acidic for my tastes. I'm on my way to see friend and she asked me to stop. There's a Iced Black Tea Lemonade she likes to sip though out the day, I got the biggest one. I asked for 1/2 ice. The server laughed and suggested I ordered it like a boba. Funny. Nice store. I took a chance and parked at a meter. Good thing San Leandro gives you 6 minutes for a dime!

I like to look for new spins on lattes to see what barista's are whipping up to make things unique. I came in thinking I was going to get a basic latte, but the Borgia Mocha caught my eye! I asked the cashier if it was a good choice and she recommended it. I was a little unsure how the two would blend and how much orange they would use in it, but it came out amazing! Honestly probably one of the top 10 unique mocha's I have tried and it was delicious! I loved the burst of refreshing orange that complimented the chocolate. The flavors danced on my tastebuds like two separate flavors that blended together as one. Each holding their own note that added value to the drink making it unique. I was instantly impressed and wish I found this on more menus! A classic mocha with a refreshing twist of orange was a pleasant surprise! I'm so glad I stopped in for a pick me up! I also loved all the art on the large walls and there looked to be plenty of tables and seating for people to eat and work at.

Cons: can be a pretty busy spot, not the most consistent, the specific beans I like aren't always available. Notes: Thought I had written a review here a while back as they are a part of my post Oakland airport tradition. My routine, fly into to Oakland, drive to Moussaka for lunch (rip the former chef/owner and restaurant), head 2 doors down to Zocalo for coffee on the ride home. If my flight was extra early and Moussaka was closed still, Zocalo was more than good enough to fit my food and coffee needs.

Neighborhood Coffee is one of my favorite cafes in all of the Bay Area. Just don't tell anyone…read morebecause I want it to be one of our best kept secrets. Shhhh...! (It was worth the 13 mile drive for me.) With floor to ceiling windows welcoming in the comfort of daylight and warmth of Californian sunshine (thank you A/C), this cafe sits high above Castro Valley overlooking the distant hills and the bay, depending on where you sit. It's in the front space of a church and upon walking in (my third visit), I feel held by the Lord. Strangely, I'm feeling tears well up because this is the exact sort of space I've been needing as I go through some challenging life circumstances. It is peaceful here but it also has a vibrant community energy on a Thursday late morning. This space is welcoming to all of the bay are community and if you didn't know it was a church, you would never know. It's for the whole neighborhood and beyond. There are tall round tables, bar tables, normal round tables, armchairs at tables, long barnhouse style tables. This space was thoughtfully curated to allow for relationships to be grown, work to be done, and quiet time to be experienced. The Americano I had is nice and strong (whoowee... I'm awake now!). They had interesting drink options and some baked goods. Prices were average for the Bay Area. I love that the cafe supports community outreach. From the web, it partners with this church and community programs. It seems to operate around community support and social impact initiatives. I love that they actively support Inclusion & Autism awareness and medical debt relief (WOW!). This is a cafe that is doing it right!

Service just ended so a lot of cars were leaving as we arrived. Don't recommend getting in line right after service because I waited over 30 minutes just to get two drinks. The lavender lemonade was very refreshing and not too sweet. The matcha latte on the other hand tasted watered down, so I could barely taste the matcha, super disappointing. It was a nice and sunny day so we decided to sit outside. The inside was very spacious, but I was overstimulated from all of people talking, especially when I was waiting in line. A good spot to stop by to grab a drink and enjoy the view outside if you're in the area. Glad I meet the time to check this place out.

The Marketing Trap is Real (But the Service is Great!) I had…read moreabsolutely no intention of stopping by Peet's today, but their marketing team definitely knows what they are doing! I got a "spend $6, get $3 off" promo in my app since it had been a while, and it lured me right through the door. My goal was to stay as close to that $6 mark as possible to practically get a freebie. I originally ordered a large drink and a pastry, but when the total hit $12, I had the barista knock the drink down to a medium to save a few bucks. After the discount, I walked out spending $8. Sneaky marketing--they got me to spend money I hadn't planned on! For my order, I tried the Iced Lavender Vanilla Matcha. Unfortunately, it wasn't my favorite and didn't quite hit the spot, so I only drank about half of it. I also grabbed a Lemon Blueberry Danish. Now, I have a personal rule about "open-air" pastry cases--if food is sitting out all day, it's an open invitation for gnats or flies to dance all over it! Usually, I prefer when they pull a fresh one from the back wrap counter. When I noticed the barista pull mine straight from the display, I asked her about it. She was sweet and assured me everything was fresh and they didn't have a gnat problem right now, so I decided to take a chance since she was warming it up. Sadly, the danish wasn't very delicious either, and I only ate a few bites. Even though the food and drink were a miss for me today, I still love coming into this Peet's. The atmosphere is always so incredibly calm and peaceful, and the baristas are always so friendly, upbeat, and polite. I'll definitely be back for my usuals, but I'll probably pass on the lavender and the display case next time!

Guava cheese pastry has guava jam inside. Not much filling but the flavor is quite strong. No cheese to speak of. Mango custard bun smells strongly of mango but the flavor is more subtle. It's mango all throughout though. Coconut bun was by far the strongest flavor, really generous amount of creamy custard coconut filling. Matcha red bean roll is filled with whipped cream. It has the green tea flavor but it's very subtle. The red bean is few and far between. The choco bun was chocolatey, with a pudding consistency of filling. The bun had a cocoa flavor. Strong flavor of chocolate throughout. The Hokkaido bun was filled with whipped cream which was unexpected. Underneath the cream is some sort of white bean paste The cream filling is like a really good hostess filling. It's self serve. A lot of similar places have you grab the pastries with tongs, but here they put them in plastic which is a relief in terms of germ spreading potential. Line went quickly. Tons of options. Tons of savories too and lots of drinks. They were constantly replacing and bringing out fresh pastries. They did so 3-4 times in the 10 mins we were there so you know when you go the pastries won't be stale or old.
