It's where I grew up and still am. Literally walking distance from home, I've stopped here randomly over the years mostly for business meetings, meetups with friends, and just to grab a drink before or after shopping and going home. I came in an early July Sunday after shopping at Mollie Stones just down the block. Parked in front, I peeked in and saw that there was no line. I happened to remember seeing a Yelp friend have a tropical drink in an out of state review so I wandered in to find only three people waiting for their drinks. After staring a few seconds at the menu, I ordered the iced guava passionfruit drink (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=xMpb4XTSuPZFXlhz7vS0Og&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q). Then, in seeing the sign for another new offering, I added a mocha cookie crumble frappuchino (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=g9-JuRjy6ez6tGMyTz4weQ&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q), hold the whipped cream, to my order. I drank the guava passionfruit drink first and found it just okay; I was probably too optimistic in expecting a heavy fruit zing as this was more creamy than refreshing. A few hours later, I had the frappuchino for dessert and, well, let's just say that it was the perfect dessert for my late lunch. It was rich and creamy and left a nice aftertaste in my mouth. Sorry for the single photo (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=knCduEAMg-mmaygPmEZarA&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) of the actual drinks as, being 8 am, I stuck them both back in the fridge before actually drinking the first one. Service by both the cashier and barista were cordial, efficient, and with a smile, the last one very important to me. A teenaged athlete who was there with his parent or coach made a comment about my sweatshirt (Pillsbury dough boy, my hero by the way) and I questioned how he know about it at his age. This brought yet another smile to my face. Five star morning experience from beginning to end.

Triple Espresso

I had a bit of a rough night and needed coffee. Stopped by this Starbucks location on Friday, July 28th around 6:45am. It was early and a weekday, so it wasn't too busy. We easily found a table for two after getting our coffee orders. I got a triple espresso and I believe my friend got a flat white? I have no idea what that is, but apparently it's espresso with steamed milk? Isn't that just a macchiato? I'm honestly not very versed in all the different Starbucks beverages, but our total ended up being $7.60 for both drinks. I'm not the biggest fan of Starbucks espresso in general as I find it weak, but this did the trick early in the morning. Nice location as it seems comfy and there was plenty of seating when we got there. But I'm not the biggest fan of their coffee. It is convenient though as there are Starsbucks locations everywhere and I can easily use their app to do mobile ordering, etc. Overall, three stars.

I go here almost every week with my friends and they never have messed up an order, they're always super nice and helpful, and even though they're busy they always double check your order before you pay. As far as the interior goes, its a large store with many many places to sit. Would definitely recommend!

Workers are so rude here. For no reason. I would understand if I was a Karen but I'm just a shy girly :(

Ballast…read moreCoffee was the perfect place to go to because it is less than 10 minutes away and has a lot of street parking available (which is rare in SF lol). Like everywhere else in SF, you have to pay for street parking but it's free after 6pm! The vibes inside are of a typical coffee shop and there is a good amount of tables and seats! The barista makes each drink one at a time, so it could take a while to order and get your drinks, but it just shows that they are very intentional with their drinks! I was super excited to find out that Ballast Coffee is actually a Filipino coffee shop that serves Barako Coffee, which I believe they source from the Philippines. They also sell barako bean roast blends for $20 in case you wanted to make it at home! Since they use Filipino barako beans, I had to order their Ube iced latte and Ube hot chocolate! The coffee had a slightly fruity yet chocolatey undertone that made it really delicious with the Ube! I do think that the coffee had a lighter taste to it, so it let the ube taste stand out more. My favorite was the Ube hot chocolate because it was super decadent and warming! I'll definitely be back at Ballast Coffee to study more and to also try their Ube Mocha as well as other drinks!

The empanada wasn't heated long enough and the inside was still a bit cold. There were cubes of beef inside but I didn't think it had enough seasoning. Wouldn't order the beef empanada again. The ube lattes were OK but I think their regular coffee drinks taste better. It's a nice place to meet with a friend or two and have coffee and a conversation if you ca. get table seating not occupied by people with their PCs for hours.

Today I dropped our recently senior rescued dog for his first grooming for us. I came upon an "Old Friend" Java on Ocean Coffee. The café is at the corner or Ocean Avenue and Faxon across the street from the former Walgreens which means amble parking! Java On Ocean Coffee is a classic San Francisco coffee place which has much more than coffee to order. There is a selection of savory breakfast items, sandwiches and smoothie! Given it was after 3 pm I ordered a Mexican Mocha and an oatmeal cookie. The café was fairly packed with nearby Riodan High School students studying about American history "New Deal" with great enthusiasm and laughter! There are 15 tables and plenty of seating including several outside but given the May gray day I cozyed under a poster of famous Mexican artist Frieda to drink my Mexican Mocha today. I look forward to future exploring Ocean Avenue including getting a smoothie or sandwich at the café!

Cash only or venmo. When it gets busy, the order can take a bit of time, but with this, patience is a virtue and really, it is just one guy and he's super nice. The spot is a small, cozy place for a nice small brunch with a few friends. FOOD: All crepes that I've tried here are pretty dang good. Each one with a side of a simple garden salad that helps lighten up your plate and a nice serving of potatoes that are your standard breakfast potatoes but done well. Crepe itself is light and crispy, each filled with a very solid amount of well thought out combination of fillings that are each cooked to perfection. Most recently I had the puttanesca, which was served with a side of sour cream. This combination of flavors with the cheese, mushrooms, and sour cream was an excellent way to start my day. I've also had the curry crepe as well which is also an interesting combination but overall delicious as well. A bit more depth of flavor with the curry. Overall, a super cute place to have a nice brunch. The owner is super kind and does a great job with this place. I will definitely be back - see you there.

It would really help if they had printed menus and clearer descriptions of what comes with each plate. Also, they only accept cash or Venmo, a sign outside letting customers know ahead of time would be helpful. The food itself was okay but pretty bland. The omelets and potatoes lacked seasoning, and the toast was just plain buttered bread. Overall, it felt basic for the price. Unfortunately, we probably won't be returning, as there are other better breakfast spots nearby that offer more value and flavor.
