I really enjoyed Sunset Roasters when they first started years ago at the Outer Sunset Farmers Market, but quality and service has declined steadily over the years. Service especially can be really hit or miss. They are frequently out of seemingly essential items like drink lids, ice, or straws. The line is often long because there are only 1 or 2 people working in the truck. Today I ordered two iced vanilla lattes but the barista tried to give me hot ones. I told them they were supposed to be iced and they dumped them into cups of ice, and also tried to give me the volume that was left over. It was bizarre. If I'd known that's what they would do I would have just taken the hot drinks because what we got was lukewarm and watered down. Very disappointing when they charge extra for iced drinks. I'd love to say that I won't be back, but as the only coffee option at the market, I know I will be. There is better coffee nearby, but it's not as convenient. read more

I've had Sunset Roasters coffee I think 3 times - once a couple years ago at Rich Table (one of the best coffees I've had but it had fernet and pistachio whip and is probably not a fair assessment), once at the farmer's market over a year ago, and once recently at their truck parked at Judah & 45th. The coffee is solid. Not amazing, not mind blowing. The oat milk cappuccino I had was not bitter or anything but the shot could have been better extracted. Not 100% sure if it was the beans or how the espresso was pulled but it just felt like I've had better. I also found the foam weaker than I would expect even for a oat milk drink - I pretty much always order lattes and cappuccinos with oat milk and usually the texture is a bit better. Service was friendly and great. I don't love the 75 cent up charge on oat milk (same for almond milk). Does the oat milk in my cappuccino actually cost you 75 cents more? I'm fine paying a cost difference but it feels like making money on dietary restrictions which is not fun. Oh well. The bacon empanada was alright but didn't love it and I would probably skip in the future. I did appreciate the side of included chimichurri which seemed to be made with olive oil. The pastry I had was also good but in a town with some spectacular pastries, I was not especially impressed. I'd give them 3 and a half stars if I could. I didn't round up because that alternative milk charge just feels bad (I even looked at a few other SF coffee shops and they either don't charge more or don't charge that much more). The specialty coffee options sounded interesting and I'd consider coming back if nearby but probably not making my regular rotation for now. read more

I've been enjoying Sunset Roasters coffee for years and was excited to see them expand their daily coffee service to 45th Ave and Judah. It's become a regular stop on my morning walk before meetings. The coffee is consistently fresh and expertly roasted, and I love supporting a business that gives back. They recently helped with our school's end-of-year fundraiser, which really showed their commitment to the community. Great local coffee and great people. Highly recommend. read more

Been going to the farmers' market for years. Been enjoying our Sunset Roasters coffee each time, so much so that we've hired them twice now for catering. But the recent icing on the cake was on Mother's Day. Each mom was treated to a complimentary rose as they picked up their order. It was a nice touch, not showy or expected. Just nice. read more

Such a great menu! I'm not super familiar with Sunset Roasters' schedule, but during the week I believe they park outside the Botanical Garden in GGP - I've tried the pinollilo con cafe and caffe de olla so far. I love the unique flavors and spices in their lattes and definitely want to explore the menu more. Their food menu might rotate as well as the first time I stopped by they were serving yummy concha from Forecita. Passed through the Sunset Mercantile Farmer's Market and my son asked to get a drink. When they asked if we wanted our chai lattes hot or iced, they didn't mention the $.75 upcharge for requesting it iced. Service was fast, but only because this chai latte did not taste like chai but instead like a chai flavored milk with a pinch of turmeric. The worst $6.75 I ever spent. read more

Decent prices for SanFran, located on a street leading up to Pacific Catch and the gyro restaurant. Staff are nice and there are lots of beans and other coffees to note. Got two matcha lattes -- one with churro marshmallow and oat milk and one without. Tasted pretty good for a walk about Golden Gate -- getting woken up and the caffeine while walking on. Drink is pretty small but the churro marshmallow was an okay touch! read more

The countdown to Glow for Let's Glow SF holiday projection arts festival was held at the foot of Market St in front of the Ferry Building. As part of the countdown activities, the Downtown SF Partnership sponsored Sunset Roasters to offer complementary hot chocolate, drip coffee and peppermint mocha. We got a hot chocolate and a peppermint mocha. We both felt the drinks lacked a depth of chocolate flavor and had a bland taste. Given the long line of customers, maybe they were rushing to get the drinks out and missed on the quality of their product. Thank you for being at the Let's Glow SF and providing free drinks. Coffee truck at the Sunday Outer Sunset farmers market. Felt a need for caffeine before checking out the food trucks. So this Sunset Roasters truck beckoned! Looked clean, well-arranged. Friendly faces. Perused the coffee menu. Ordering/quick was well-organized, quick and friendly. Tried the Latte de Olla, espresso, milk, piloncillo (unrefined cane sugar), cinnamon, spices. This was hot espresso, nicely spiced and not overly sweet. Perfect way to start my shopping! Besides espressos They also sell drip coffee, teas and a few non-caffeinated choices. 2.5* Service was quick. I find their beans to be decently priced but they are nothing exceptional compared with the other roasters in SF. The pastries are great (sourced externally). Onto the drinks: 1. Filter coffee is inoffensive and just okay. 3/5 2. Espresso was under extracted both times I've ordered. 3. Cafe de Olla tasted like acrid burnt sugar (ordered 8/11/24) maybe this was a batch problem at the Outer Sunset Farmer's market but wow was this nearly undrinkable. TLDR: mediocre coffee at a decent price. works in a pinch but won't seek it out. read more
