This Starbucks is in a great location directly on Forbes ave. The store is pretty big with lots of seating. The baristas where very friendly and helpful. I ordered a venti coffee frap with whip cream and mocha drizzle. The drink was made perfectly. This location still had plastic straws which I like much better than the paper straws that fall apart after 15 minutes. Love this location except for parking which can be very difficult to find. Not much different than other Starbucks locations, but that's what I love about this one. It was nice to know what to expect when walking into a location I hadn't visited before. The staff was considerate and helpful, responding very respectfully when a small issue arose with my order. I really wasn't that bothered by the problem, yet they were quick to apologize and make my experience as pleasant as possible. I was so grateful! The layout is awesome here, but it does tend to get a little chilly. It's also a little confusing to find the front of the line, but those are really the only things that bug me here. I had to finally just write an updated review because quite frankly Starbucks has upped their game in my eyes. The staff is super friendly, no attitude anymore, and they are willing to give their opinions on drinks even when the lines are long. It is lovely. Yes, it is still crowded; yes, it is still loud; yes, the lines will still be long. I now stand before you and say so what. Do what I do---STARBUCKS APP. Yep. I just put my order in while on the bus and by the time I walk down there BOOM it is made and I just take it and walk out. This app is amazing. After 12 drinks you then even start earning free food and drinks!! How is that not the best thing ever? Ok. So the reason for the updated review is because of the Citrus Green Tea Latte. Picture this, a lovely lunch in Oakland is finished and I was asked if I would want some coffee. I am not the biggest coffee drinker but just thought, eh why not. The lines were short and since the person I was going with did not have the app I just went through the line like a "regular Starbucks customer" (;-) LOL.) The big sign hanging above the register spoke to me. Citrus Green Tea. YUM. I asked the staff member waiting on me his thoughts on the new bevvy. He said it was, "very citrusy and refreshing". My next question was about the sweetness. He assured me that it would not be overly sweet and I would enjoy it. Since I had a free drink coupon I thought, what the hell, I'll try it. I am honestly saying I am happy that I did. This is a seasonal beverage and I hope, AND PRAY. That they decide to keep it. It was refreshing and citrusy just like the staff told me. Basically, it was everything I have ever hoped for in a green tea citrus drink. I came back to the office and made four girls try it. Everyone loved it!!! (Good thing I got the biggest size!!!) I tend to prefer this Starbucks when I'm in a bit of a rush because I've found the workers tend to be faster yet careful in making drinks. Plus the close alternative is the Starbucks on Fifth and ALL of the PITT students go there ... Having the mobile app helps a lot! Especially if you frequent pretty often, like me. But if you're looking for a place to sit, good luck! The interior isn't as well-lit as I would have hoped it to be but I think it's the fault of the location, if anything. For non-coffee drinks, I tend to get the strawberry açaí refresher when I'm in need of something refreshing and light. I get the hot matcha green tea latte when it's cold out. The jade citrus mint tea with honey is good for a sore throat! If you bring your own cup, you get a few cents discounted. For coffee drinks, I get the lattes sometimes with a pump or two of syrup. I just went to this location because it was convenient ( close where I parked) . There wasn't any available space to sit . The employees were overwhelmed ( it wasn't that busy, maybe with to go orders)and they got my order wrong. When I told them that I will be willing to pay the difference to get my order right, they told me that I got what I pay for. This answer is definitely not following Starbucks policy. It was your normal Starbucks I always think there prices are high for coffee but I have a gold card and my refills are free they changed the gold card rules so it's harder to get enough points for a free item. Sammy just made my day. I walked 2 miles in the heat for the new dragon fruit drink and when she saw how disappointed I was she offered me a few alt optuons that matched to the new one. She told me the Pink Drink was similar to the dragon fruit drink and So I settled on that. She comp'd my drink since it wasnt the one I walked all the way to get and it just made my day. Her eye shadow also matched my drink and she drew a bunny on my cup. She made my bad day so much better with her simple act of kindness. I have been dealing with so much lately. No car, barely any money to pay my bills so I wanted to just do something positive for me and get a drink. It seems silly but it was just something For me that i wouldnt have to share with my 2 kids. I didn't actually stay and sit this visit but the seating area always looks packed. You'll be lucky to find a place to sit let alone an outlet. The countertops where the cream and sugars are were very dirty. I know it was busy and everyone behind the counter was busy but it wouldn't take long time have some one wipe them down occasionally. There is also a fireplace for those cold days when you need to warn your hand. It's not as big as I feel it should be for the area. It is a busy location as well. Great location for a Starbucks! Right in the middle of Oakland! When I went, this location was packed, I barely was able to find a seat---I know this is probably common in a college town. Despite the crowd, the barristers were positive and efficient. The lone line moved quickly and my drink was prepared correctly. The crowd of people is quite the mix. Everything from students to hospital workers to homeless people. Two draw backs to this location: They did not have any outdoor seating and do not allow e-cigarette. Parking is also a nightmare! Pretty generic Starbucks near Pitt campus. As it's near the university areas, it tends to be more populated during the day. Busy times include early morning, noon (during lunch), and early afternoons (when students get out of class). They do take Rewards if you're part of the chain's rewards program. Seating is adequate and there are some couches? on the left side when you walk into the coffee shop. Order ahead on your mobile phone to avoid long lines (not sure how much faster, but usually wait time difference is noticeable). Certainly convenient for students/people working nearby, but probably not the best location to go to. read more

Not my favorite coffee chain by any means. Is it just me or do all Starbuck coffees taste burnt and bitter? No matter how trendy, cool and upscale their establishments are I can't get around the yicky tasting bitterness of Staryucks regular coffees. Talk about over roasting a bean...Maybe something has changed with their regular coffee but I have not drank it in about a year. And I am not one for soy caramel latte foofy stuff. This used to be my favorite Starbucks location. Came here every day for almost 2 years, all the employees knew my drink order and name and were extremely nice. In the last two months, they hired all new employees all of which are rude, hand me my latte without the espresso shot in it and get mad when they have to remake it. One night when I went in and ordered, keep in mind I was the only customer in there, the barista rung me out and then went to the back and actually forgot to make the drink. Ended up waiting 15 minutes only to tell him that if it would be much longer I'd have to cancel my order because I had to go back into work. He was rude, gave me a refund and didn't even make the drink. Absolute terrible location. Terrible young employees that do not have any sort of work ethic and are simply trying to make a few bucks while in school. That's not how you run a business. :) DO NOT GO HERE. read more

I want to give this place a better review, I really do. After all, the employees are always friendly, and they make the best latte of any Starbucks around, but it drives me absolutely insane that they only ever have half & half out. I hate half and half. A lot. It leaves a funky coating on the inside of my mouth. There is no reason why they can't leave milk out. They claim it's because not enough people want milk, but I'm not sure why that would matter. You can leave milk out for a REALLY long time before it goes sour, especially in the insulated container they keep it in. So every single time, which is 3 or 4 days a week, I have to bug the barista for the super secret cold milk. *sigh* read more

i'm a big starbucks lover. i know it's overpriced and there's coffee that's just as good or better at small mom-and-pop coffee shops for half the price. i know i know. but i know my favorite drinks here and i can't help but be addicted. anyway, i had a class in oakland that i had to be in the area for from 8:30-3. so needless to say, during lunch, i needed some coffee. i walked down to the starbucks and waited in line for a little while to order. not long, i'd say probably average for lunchtime. the cashier was nice and seemed very knowledgeable. but then i had to wait kind of a while for my drink because they were backed up. probably not their fault, but if it's that backed up on a sunday at 12:30, i'll let you predict the rest of the week. anyway, while i was waiting i browsed the mugs, instant coffee, etc. etc. for sale. ended up buying a travel mug because i couldn't find mine and this one was on sale for just $6something. so i finally got my coffee and all was good (and delicious.. skinny pumpkin spice latte with an extra espresso shot anyone?!) read more
