Small, simple local cafe on Butler st. I got an iced peppermint mocha, hot black sesame latte, and iced black sesame latte (3 12oz lattes came out to ~$16). Sad to say that I did not taste the black sesame syrup at all, which is actually one of their house made syrups. My peppermint mocha was okay- had some peppermint flavor to it but def not ground breaking. Space is pretty limited to about 9 tables in a little section. It's mainly a table with 2 chairs. I did see one outlet on the wall at the far corner. There is like 3 chairs that face the window. read more

Espresso a mano is a staple in the neighborhood and is a very cozy spot. The coffee has never blown me away tbh but it's good enough. As a heads up, they don't have wifi so if you plan to work here make sure you have a hotspot. I do appreciate the commitment to making this a coffee shop and not a cowork spot! read more

Great cafe in Lawrenceville. Quality coffee, they have pastries. Lots of seating, people were working on laptops there but there isn't any WiFi so definitely make sure you have a hotspot. Staff were friendly. A few tables outside to sit and in the spring/summer they have a garage door that opens! Love the brick vibe inside. read more

Loved this cafe! Nice, vibey space to chat or do work with a super helpful staff! The coffee and espresso drinks here are the stand outs, don't miss out on their homemade syrups that never miss either. Also their pastry selection is small but really good, especially loved their brioche bun with a light whipped cream filling, it wasn't too sweet which I loved! A review for Scone Ranger: Pop up scone bakery! Scone Ranger offers the full ranger which is 2 scones with 3 flavors of dips. The sweet summer corn butter was the best of the 3, absolutely a must try on top of a fluffy crumbly scone. The service was helpful and clearly devoted to their scone craft! However a bit pricey for 2 small scones and 3 dips to go with. A nice treat on a Saturday morning coffee run and addition to a latte! read more

Short line on a Friday morning that moved quickly. Delicious drip coffee and a selection of pastries and a couple breakfast burritos on the menu. I tried the bacon burrito that came with eggs, potatoes, and cheese. Hot sauce is in the cooler. The hot sauce added the perfect amount of spice. We ended up sitting inside to eat and there were a bunch of small tables inside and one or two outside. Great big windows that let lots of morning sun in, a lovely place for your morning pick me up. read more

Walked in on a Saturday morning and immediately loved the vibes of the coffee shop. Lots of locals enjoying the space. Decent amount of seating. The staff were friendly and provided good recommendations. I got a honey latte and my husband had an Americano- both were very good! If you are in the Lawrenceville area and in need for some caffeine, I highly recommend Espresso a Mano! Both the baked goods and the coffee are insanely tasty for the price. Whenever I stop by I usually grab a latte and a blueberry muffin. They have never disappointed! The Lawrenceville location is a little small, but it's also very cozy. Local artwork is up on the walls for sale which I find to be fun! The baristas are always friendly and work exceptionally fast. read more

Among all the coffee shop options, I ended up choosing this place, given the very good reviews. However, it was a very average experience for me. I had no complaints about the oat latte that I had ordered. It was tasty and strong, just what I needed in a coffee. However, I came here to do some work, and there was no Wi-Fi available. Espresso machine down, they were serving regular drip. Due to health reasons I usually have to drink decaf, and they would not make me a pour over. The barista literally said "they don't need my business and don't care." Somehow I find it hard to believe that La Prima, Big Dog, Commonplace, Jitters, Redstart, Delanie's or any coffee shop you can think of would ever diss a customer like that. Congrats David on your new baby!!! What a great spot. I am not sure who David is but I think he is the owner or an employee but he just had a baby and the community was signing cards for him to congratulate him. Enough said. Great people and great service and very cool chill atmosphere. And for the important part - the coffee - it is excellent. Best in the area in my opinion. We rented an Airbnb for our extended familia about a 10-15 min walk maybe 4 min drive and I ended up picking up 6 cappuccinos every morning for everyone cause that's how I roll. Let's just say no one was disappointed. Enjoy. read more

my absolute favorite coffee shop in Lawrenceville! This time I the winter special - golden latte. Variety of spices (turmeric, ginger, black pepper, cinnamon etc) and that vibrant golden color are just perfect for the recent freezing and gloomy days. I opted to coconut milk (because there is a hint of coconut oil in their recipe so I thought it would be interesting to have coconut milk) and made it dirty by adding shots of espresso - it's so good!! Highly recommend - plus not need to mention that all these spices are good for health and immune system for these cold days. read more

Had to update since I have visited Espresso a Mano MANY times since I last reviewed. In my opinion, this is one of the best places for a good cup of coffee/ espresso in the burgh. My go-to is a almond milk latte, or a cup of whatever coffee they have available. Both are always delicious. Brendan always gets a shot in the dark, which is the perfect pick-me-up for long days in the office. The staff are always friendly, and they always have SO many delicious looking pastries from local shops around Pittsburgh. You can't go wrong here! read more

Cute! This place is a 5/5 for me. Checks all the boxes I want in a coffee shop: cute space, for-here mugs, reasonable price, great tasting coffee. As an added bonus, they had multiple vegan and vegan, gluten free treats AND they let you add your own oat milk. Score. I thus enjoyed the perfect ratio of Americano to oat milk. FYI if you're ordering an americano, the price is the same whether it's an 8 oz or a 12 oz. And I assume the number of espresso shots are the same, so decie how concentrated you want your drink to be in advance. I loved my 8 oz but my friend also loved her 12 oz (but I admittedly like the taste of coffee much more than her in general). Would definitely return. Americano was $2.80. read more

Espresso a mano is my neighborhood coffee shop. I often stop for an iced americano after a run as a little "treat" to myself. The owner and staff are sweet. Cash is preferred and they do not have wifi. In addition to their high quality espresso menu, they have locally made pastries and sandwiches. I always get an americano or a double shot of espresso. The espresso is smooth and almost creamy. They make their own syrups too, and have interesting flavors like 5 spice and chamomile! I love when I get their one outdoor table and can sip my drink while people watching. I highly recommend this place! read more

Oh my gosh! Dave is such a great barista. As soon as you walk in to order, he makes you feel welcomed. Very social guy. Few chairs but worth the wait for me because of how nice the staff is. Man, glad they have a restroom because Mother Nature called. It's also a nice place to enjoy good music too while they're singing and doing chores LOL, cute. Great place to catch up with my emails. I got a almond milk Latte it was very good! The store was nice and clean and the staff was super friendly. There isn't much seating but I came in the afternoon and got a table. I did get the vegan and gluten free cinnamon rolls they are from another company sold at this coffee place. I would never get them again the man working heated them up for me and the bread was so hard. I only eat vegan and gluten free so I understand ingredients is hard to put together but the bread was so dry and so hard it honestly was terrible. read more

You get to pour the milk yourself at the counter which I liked so my latte had just the right amount of milk. You don't find that often in cafes, and certainly nowhere else in Pittsburgh. Besides coffee, the ambiance is great. There is not much traffic, so it's a pretty calm place to sit down and work or read a book. I love sitting at the large table in the back room for a few hours and working from there, while enjoying a cup or two of different pour overs. Overall, we are lucky to have Constellation . While Pittsburgh can't compare with the "third-wave" coffee scene in cities like Seattle or Vancouver, Constellation can certainly compete with the best cafes in such cities. *The espresso here is also great, don't get me wrong, especially when they offer a light roast. But I just like the one at Espresso a Mano better. I do wish Constellation offered an espresso flight; given the variety of beans they offer, that would be a unique coffee-drinking experience.

I went in the morning/early afternoon, the lighting from outside was not great, typical Pittsburgh fashion. The light fixtures inside were way too dim. I found myself tilting my notebook to try to catch some natural light. Outlets also aren't easily accessible which is huge for being able to do work of course. The coffee was great, I tried the hibiscus cold foam latte, or something like that. I paired it with a bacon egg biscuit sandwich which was very filling. Definitely satisfied with the food products. Customer service was also fine, the women behind the counter were cheerful and pleasant.

The pastries here all looked great with different flavors, I liked the Pecan Cherry scone a lot, with actual cherries mixed in! It is vegan and gf, which means the texture is definitely very different from traditional pastries, but one of the best vegan ones I've ever had. Excited to come back and try more!

It's also a veteran-owned small business, which makes supporting it even better. I have been to the Mediterranean, and I thought that most of the baked goods here were not Mediterranean. While I waited in a slowly moving line of other customers to order from the bakery, I browsed the shelves in the market. I saw cheeses, bottled beverages such as wines, packaged foods such as grape leaves, and chocolates. I could not find price tags on all foods, so I recommend that those be added. I purchased three baked goods for a total of $15. I rate the croissticky as 5 stars, the cinnamon roll as 3.5 stars, and the raisin-oatmeal cookie as 4 stars.
