Small, simple local cafe on Butler st. I got an iced peppermint mocha, hot black sesame latte, and iced black sesame latte (3 12oz lattes came out to ~$16). Sad to say that I did not taste the black sesame syrup at all, which is actually one of their house made syrups. My peppermint mocha was okay- had some peppermint flavor to it but def not ground breaking. Space is pretty limited to about 9 tables in a little section. It's mainly a table with 2 chairs. Great cafe in Lawrenceville. Quality coffee, they have pastries. Lots of seating, people were working on laptops there but there isn't any WiFi so definitely make sure you have a hotspot. The sweet summer corn butter was the best of the 3, absolutely a must try on top of a fluffy crumbly scone. The service was helpful and clearly devoted to their scone craft! Short line on a Friday morning that moved quickly. Delicious drip coffee and a selection of pastries and a couple breakfast burritos on the menu. I tried the bacon burrito that came with eggs, potatoes, and cheese. Hot sauce is in the cooler. The hot sauce added the perfect amount of spice. We ended up sitting inside to eat and there were a bunch of small tables inside and one or two outside. The barista literally said "they don't need my business and don't care." Espresso a Mano is one of my two favorite cafes in Pittsburgh, along with Constellation Coffee, and I come here at least once per month. The reason is simple: It's the best espresso in Pittsburgh. Both the plain espresso and the milky drinks (at least the macchiato and cortado, I don't generally enjoy cappuccino or latte) are executed perfectly and taste great. I like the espresso so much, the beans I use for my own espresso at home are always from here. I also enjoy the ambiance at this cafe. In the summer, I love to sit at the long bench by the entrance and watch the traffic outside while enjoying the sun. And in the winter, the interior feels very cozy and is a great place to hang out and chat with a friend. They also display art from (I believe) local artists, and you can buy pieces you like. I have not tried any of the baked goods or non-espresso drinks, so I can't comment on those first hand--though my partner did try the hot chocolate and was raving about it. But when it comes to espresso, come here for a good cup; as I said, it's the best espresso in Pittsburgh. read more

Variety of spices (turmeric, ginger, black pepper, cinnamon etc) and that vibrant golden color are just perfect for the recent freezing and gloomy days. I opted to coconut milk (because there is a hint of coconut oil in their recipe so I thought it would be interesting to have coconut milk) and made it dirty by adding shots of espresso - it's so good!! Had to update since I have visited Espresso a Mano MANY times since I last reviewed. In my opinion, this is one of the best places for a good cup of coffee/ espresso in the burgh. My go-to is a almond milk latte, or a cup of whatever coffee they have available. Both are always delicious. Brendan always gets a shot in the dark, which is the perfect pick-me-up for long days in the office. The staff are always friendly, and they always have SO many delicious looking pastries from local shops around Pittsburgh. You can't go wrong here! read more

I did get the vegan and gluten free cinnamon rolls they are from another company sold at this coffee place. I would never get them again the man working heated them up for me and the bread was so hard.
