Not sure why hours say 5am and when I went to the door, the woman was mouthing that they open at 6am. It was 6:05 and looked super frustrated that I was even considering wanting to go inside. They finished putting everything away and then opened the doors shortly after. The woman who mouthed that they weren't open until 6am then went to sit down and eat her meal... I've been noticing this a lot with Starbucks that they have their hours and then the managers/employees are opening when it's convenient for them. If your hours inside are different then the drive-thru then it needs to be specified. Additionally, if you're going to be open at 6am inside, then you need to be ready to go. read more

Came in on September 1, 2024 at 9:39 and there was this skinny girl with tattoos at the drive thru window that was rolling her eyes and didn't seem that she wanted to be working. She asked if we would be paying with Apple Pay or scanning points which I replied with Apple Pay. And just rolled her eyes? Like this is regular protocol I don't see why it's a problem. I understand how frustrating it can be to have people come in close to closing but the operating hours are still on going and I still expect good service regardless. Never have I had bad customer service here at this lake location nor at any Starbucks which led me to need to address this experience I had today. l ordered a banana bread which I usually like warmed up and she didn't bother to ask if I wanted it warm so when I got to the window I asked if she can warm it up which she did. Very upset. I ordered my drink and left thinking everything was good and when I took a sip it was bitter. They forgot to add the sweetener that I asked for because they were to busy talking when we drove by the window. I called the store and asked if they have a store credit or any type of way that I can get the right drink that I PAID for and they said that if I don't make it back it time today before they close there's nothing they can do. So I ordered an iced green tea matcha latte at this place and unlike most Starbucks locations, this location didn't shake the matcha so I had big clumps of undiluted matcha settled at the bottom of the cup. So imagine taking a sip and then sucking up a big clump of matcha powder when expecting a nicely mixed green tea latte. I didn't plan on eating my matcha today but I guess that's what I'm doing. My 69-year-old mother walked to the store to get a gift card, and instead of politely explaining that the store was closed and only the drive-through was open, an employee came to the door and said, "Drive-through!" When she explained that she didn't have a car and just needed a gift card, he again said only, "Drive-through!" I have been going to the Lake Ave location for over six years. Recently have been using their drive-through, and their teammate K is a cut above. I have never had such a different and lasting customer service experience. Before she asked for my order she said, "welcome to Starbucks, how are you?. and what is your name?". I have never been asked this, and this impressed me. I have never seen this at any Starbucks locations. This morning when she saw me on the monitor she acknowledged me by my first name right away. Her approach is so special because it shows she cares about her customers and wants to create a lasting impression, but it most importantly shows her amazing personable, and caring personality. We all have had the opposite, and her approach instills a lasting impression and makes you want to come back, and in the hopes that you can interact with her customers. The store supervisor at night ( Josh) forgot to give me my cheese danish he specifically said HE FORGOT and when I came back from south Pasadena to claim it he said they were already closed and all of the ovens were off he said the best I could give you is a cold danish I accepted but I also wanted another for my time and gas but he said " there's nothing he could do because he isn't allowed to take more orders" and blamed me for driving off and said "I was going to hand it to you but that wasn't the case when he said he forgot. Super grateful for this location! While we all know (or should know) what to expect from the quality of a nationwide coffee company- it's the service here that keeps me coming back. That's not to say that I don't indulge in Starbucks because I thoroughly enjoy the Iced Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso. I just think that ultimately, this review is for the team. Everyone here greets you and I've received nothing but polite manners and attitude from the staff. Working in the service industry isn't easy especially at corporate coffee chains. It's good they're open (the extra star)but it's a hot mess. The mobile app doesn't include the 25 minute wait in drive-thru. So your drink will be a tired when you finally get there. The employee I interacted with wasn't listening and had a need to debate. Rude & condescending. They're overworked and they should take themselves off the mobile app. It makes no difference to order ahead when there's a long line because you can't skip it anyway. And you can't cancel mobile order once it's made. But you don't know it's a long long wait since it's not reflected on app when you order. Final blow is need to "call corporate" to get refund. I love Starbucks. This location can get pretty busy (especially Drive thru!) but you can never go wrong with Starbucks. The staff is typically fast and friendly. The only downside to this location (other than the possible long lines) is the extremely small parking lot. read more
