I just thought updating my review about this place. It's a hit or miss, every servers are different. Some are nice and some aren't. The server name Cynthia is very nice and polite. I encountered her the next day after posting my first review. Then it reoccured again twice. She welcomes with a smile, pass out the straw wrap in napkin, then dispense the drink with a sleeve - that you don't have to ask for. I think this is good, customer service and very efficient. At the same time, I noticed the flow of the drive through traffic was faster because she is organized. My experience with her is really nice, I have to ask her name because I was impressed with her good attitude and coherence. The staff here has been putting up with constant shifting in leadership and through it all, every visit, they are putting in the work. I see reviews here from people that seem to want to use inappropriate connections to people in upper management as a flex to shame the staff for what? Not having whip cream? It really pains me to write this review, but I just have to say something at this point. Being raised in LA, I have been a loyal customer of Coffee Bean for over 30 years. I love this brand so much and the Mocha Ice Blended is my favorite drink. On average, I spend about $250 a month. Ever since Julio, the old store manager left, this location has absolutely fallen apart. They are out of whipped cream on a weekly basis, and for days at a time. Their "holiday drinks" were unavailable for the entire month of December. The staff used to be friendly, but at this point they are so disenchanted with the constant out of stock issues, that they have become completely immune to the frustration of the customers. It is not fair to the staff who have to be on the front lines during this lack of operations. This evening I was made to feel like a difficult customer because I had the nerve to ask for a refund after they informed me they were ONCE AGAIN out of whipped cream after I had paid for my drink. I was told I had to wait 5 minutes for the manager to get off her break so I could get refunded for the drink I never received. I told them I would wait. This cleary irritated them. When I asked them why they are constantly out of whipped cream the response I was given is that it's because the whipped cream is considered an add-on and not part of the drink. This was so confusing as every piece of marketing collateral over the years shows whipped cream on this signature beverage. What is astonishing about this response, is that a huge part of Coffee Bean's history and success is that they were pioneers in creating the ice blended coffee, that even preceded Starbucks. These stocking issues seem to be specifically problematic at this Hastings Ranch location as I have never had this issue at the Monrovia, Pasadena (Lake Ave) or Santa Anita Mall locations. This is such a prime spot, and it is so perplexing why they are having so many issues. It pains me to see this store destroy the reputation of this iconic LA brand. I will also send this to Brian Bahreman, Vice President - Head of Operations, in hopes that someone from corporate can intervene and get this store back to where it used to be. I was handed a luke warm drink (I usually order extra hot). I asked them to remake the drink and the girl comes back in 2 seconds with the exact same drink (except with a drizzle of caramel). Still luke warm, still the same drink! And not made well so had to be thrown out. Then she goes on to say, we don't do mobile orders in drive thru - well, write that on the app so the customers know. Decided to stop by for a nice ice cold treat. My go to order is their peach jasmine tea, but today I opted for a matcha mango latte. The drink has to be mixed with their mango syrup and did not disappoint. Coffee Bean is known for their teas and the drinks have actual fruit pieces in their syrup. I thoroughly enjoy their concoctions (hibiscus tea, mango jasmine tea, and the lemonades. Most of their blended drinks are vanilla based hence their ice blended matcha tasted vanilla and I wasn't a fan. In addition, you can scale the level of sweetness dependent on your preference. You can also get their 32 ounce cup on all drinks except the ice blended. They do charge for ice and cup at 25 cents. Overall, the lobby is super light and their lounge chairs are comfortable. It took 16 minutes to get my dark Chocolate latte. I went into the store this morning after 11:30. I placed an order for two drinks, one hot and one cold. I received the cold drink in about 5 minutes, but not the other. The drive through was also backed up. I noticed the barristas were only making cold drinks. Customers that ordered through the app also had to wait long for their drinks. After 13 minutes, I asked about the latte. The barrista said, "It's coming", rather rudely. Three minutes later, I received the latte. There was no apology for the delay. The barristas need better training. None of them were working with any sense of urgency. I shouldn't have tipped before receiving my drinks. I never received this kind of horrible service at Starbucks. read more

I came here this past Sunday and the customer service was not good at all. This makes me a little annoyed to do a review like this because I absolutely love Coffee Bean. I go literally everyday where I live and to this location when I come to Pasadena. The service use to be better. Irvin use to always be so sweet, amicable, and always in good spirits. However the last several months I have not seen good employees like Irvin, or past employees in the beginning, that knew their job and was devoted to customers. There is this young girl that is new, and I do not know her name, but she has glasses and she's very unbothered, and not concerned about customers orders. This was my third time encountering with her and each time the order was wrong, or she did not understand the order, and just put in the system what she thought I had ordered. It's very irritating and I'm very patient and never was livid, until this past Sunday. I only ordered two drinks, a small hazelnut latte, and large hot chocolate. As I was ordering she kept saying the order size wrong for both drinks, but I did not mind so I reiterated at least 3 times. But she still says the order wrong. So we drove to window and I paid cash and the drinks came out, and the drinks was the wrong size and opposite of what we ordered. I got a large latte and my sis got a small hot chocolate. Further, we tell her and she is still not comprehending and just telling us the order over again like we ordered wrong. So long story short. we ask for a manager and we were quite annoyed because this is the 3rd time this has happened in the last 7 weeks with this employee. Meanwhile... we just decide to go in to see them remake the drink. So we were still waiting on the manager and she comes, and very nonchalant and not empathetic. She just comes and doesn't say "what can I help you with?" We just tell her our order is wrong and she says ok "we will just remake it." So my sister wants to elaborate more on the issue , but Miranda the manager is not listening or not responding. So I cut in and say, I'm sorry but this happens all the time she's terrible....and OMG after that remark, hell broke loose, she gets made at my comment, which is unprofessional, and says "don't call her terrible she's not terrible she is still learning and have a language barrier." Mind you the girl does not have a language barrier at all, and if she is struggling then someone should be helping her out. Miranda says she was on break, but why no one is helping her out or she's not asking for help If she confused? Smh I just cannot fathom! Then when I told her I needed to be reimbursed, since I got overcharged for the difference of the drinks, she said that she voided the receipt and I had to pay $11.10. She got confused because I already had paid through the drive-thru. This sucks when I feel the reason I'm making this review is because of lack of consideration, and slack of management. I do not like tacky management and those who are argumentative. Overall, I really hate I have to do a review like this. I am a VIP customer and It is definitely a must for me to get my coffee bean! It's the best coffee to me! It just sucks to treat customers with attitude and not hear them out. I feel they need training at this location to keep afloat. I ordered 2 large iced americanos. The straight face lady gave me a regular and a large. When I corrected her, she didn't say anything and just turned to her manager that took my order- YOON! This coffee bean has been on point each time I've been. The ice blended here has been perfect blended each time I've been here, not too watery or icy. Other coffee beans I've been too haven't been as lucky. I love the fact that there is a drive thru and they are very quick with the service! A new convenient location for East Pasadena has just opened (November 2019). Extra added convenience of a drive thru is included at this location, which seemed to be popular on the morning I walked inside, as there were a line of cars in the drive thru and only a couple people indoors. The staff were extremely kind and my order came out within a few minutes of placing it. There is plenty of parking in the adjacent lot, marked specifically for Coffee Bean with their logo engraved in the spaces. Decor is clean and there is enough seating for small groups or many individuals. I assume there is free wifi here as well but I didn't check on this visit. I will confirm on subsequent visits. Although there were people coming in with laptops as I was leaving so the chances are high that there is wifi. I am excited for this location because it can be used as a meeting or work space that is very fitting for me as it is situated in a great area. read more

It seems to me that this is fairly a new location in the neighborhood. Located in one of the busiest streets in Pasadena, will surely attract many commuters going down the Foothill Boulevard. Yesterday I came here and ordered a chai tea ice blended and wanted to add pumpkin and cinnamon. When I got my drink it didn't look like they added pumpkin at all and of course I got the extra charge. So I asked and the girl at the window asked whoever made it and said yes there is pumpkin in it. So I left and came back later in the day and ordered the same thing and was told they were out that day. Instead of just saying that and refunding me the extra .60¢ they lied, and the girl taking my order at the time was nice so I didn't even bring that up. Plus SOME of the girls here have stank attitudes and try to correct you for no reason. The drive-thru on Foothill in Pasadena is our "go to" place for great coffee and wonderful, smiling staff! The best!!

Customer service is no good. There were 5 women working and not one greeted when I walked in or acknowledged that I was waiting at the register to order for a while. 3 other people walked in during my time there and they weren't greeted either. 2 of them walked up to the order pick up and not one employee acknowledged or helped them retrieve their order. The other customer waited at the register like I did while employees walked right past her to go to the back. Just acknowledging your customers when they walk in and letting them know someone will be with them is important. It was awkward in there and no communication between the team as far as who is going to greet and help customers that come up to the counter. 5 people working, besides the drive thru I was the only person inside when I ordered and my plain black coffee took over 5 minutes.
