We have come here now a few times for their vegan breakfast sandwiches and vegan Horchata. The breakfast sandwich comes with vegan egg, vegan sausage, and vegan cheese on a thin bagel bread. Today I also ordered the new iced matcha sparkling drink for my friend. My friend said it was good. This location is inside a huge shopping area with a market and many restaurants. I've been coming to this location for about a year now, and I always go out of my way to get my order here. Everything has consistently been perfect. The drinks, the service, the people. Everyone's been so kind, friendly, and helpful when it comes to suggesting food items or just making the experience a good one overall. That's why today was a bit disappointing. I ordered the exact same latte I always get, no changes at all, and when I got it, it was noticeably off. Instead of being hot like usual, it was almost lukewarm (this happened once before when I ordered with him as well). It just didn't taste fresh. I let the barista know. It was an older gentleman with longer shaggy gray hair. Right away, his tone felt a little combative. I told him my latte was a bit more on the warm or cold side, and I asked if something had been done differently. He told me I had ordered it with the wrong type of milk, and because of that, the boiling point was lower and they don't make it as hot. I said I didn't know that, but I've always ordered it the same way and it's normally hotter and tastes great. He said if he had made it hotter, it would have come out less sweet. I replied that maybe that's why this one tasted a little sweeter, but I didn't really mind that part. I cared more about the warmth of the drink. He then told me that if I didn't want it that sweet, I should've only asked for three pumps. I let him know that I wasn't complaining about the sweetness. I was just saying that the drink didn't feel the same as usual, and now I understood why. I wasn't trying to argue or get a new drink. I even told him it was totally fine, and that I wouldn't ask him to remake it or anything because I didn't want to be a bother. I just wanted to understand what happened. He responded with, "Well, I don't know what you want me to do," and I repeated that it was okay, I was just trying to understand. But then he something along the lines of well, okay whatever and turned away, which honestly felt a little rude. It just rubbed me the wrong way because I wasn't being difficult. I wasn't upset or asking for anything extra. I also want to point out that he's not usually the person who makes my drink, and when I've had this same order at other locations, the temperature and overall quality have been totally fine. So I'm not sure why I got met with that kind of energy today. Most of the Peet's locations make their drinks just fine and I may have to revisit some of them. Like I said before though, the majority of the people that work here are lovely and amazing and the inside seating here is great. Sometimes I stop by just because I enjoy the friendliness that comes with my order and I don't really want to deal with a negative interaction like that again. read more

I love this store. This is probably some of the best coffee in town. I want to especially acknowledge one of the barista's named Victor. I was a few minutes late getting to the store and he was kind enough to open for me and allow me to purchase a gift card for my wife for Valentines. This definitely meant the world to me and I was blown away with the customer service and thoughtfulness. There aren't too many people that would have done that at the end of of a days work shift on Valentines Friday evening. This young man was raised right and is a tremendous asset to the store. A few weeks ago, my mom and I were in this store when a gentleman having some sort of delusional episode came into the store and started approaching customers. Before I could even figure out how to respond, a shift supervisor named Vic came over and started talking to the man. Vic redirected the man so skillfully - graciously offering the man a cup of hot water but making it clear that the man could not bother customers. Vic took care of the situation so expeditiously, but with such compassion and care for this individual. He is a credit to the store. We'll be back. read more

I have been a regular customer for years and it makes me happy when I walk in and the baristas know what I order and how to make my drink! Elvia, the store manager is always professional and addresses any issues effectively when I've been there to see. The store is maintained clean and orderly which makes me feel comfortable especially when I sit there for a bit. This store has a homey feel. Very good coffee. Rivals many local, independent coffee houses. Their espresso is flavorful and smooth. My favorite drink here is the Havana cappuccino, but you can't go wrong with any of their espresso drinks. I have been coming to this Peet's Coffee location for a number of years. I mostly just come here to study. Since COVID, the inside is less crowded and tables are usually available. Prior to COVID, you had to come very early in the morning or in the late afternoon/early evening to get a seat. The premium tables are still hard to get but easier than before. I actually do not like Peet's Coffee, but I like their tea. However, coffee tastes will vary. They are pricey just like Starbucks and inflation and COVID have not helped. In the past, people complain about their mobile ordering, but many people recently seem to get their mobile orders just fine. The baristas change about every year here and the current ones are nicer than the last pre-COVID ones. There is usually parking available somewhere in the lot, but not right in front of the store. There are less homeless inside the store than prior to COVID. Tips: (1) there is a morning rush about 7-8 or so and the line can go out the door. Consequently, mobile ordering may be good to try at this time. There is also a lunch rush about 12-1. (2) the best tables are the two by the wall near the order pick up at the back and with the plugs on the wall. The second two best tables are the corner seat on the counter by the window and the table right in front of it on the wall, both have plugs. The tables by the windows get really hot even with the blinds down in the afternoon. Even the tables without plugs away from by opposite the windows get hot. The table without a plug near the order pick up is the third best inside seat. (3) like many coffee shops, the restroom has a code, so make sure to ask the barista for the code when you pick up your order. There is only one toilet but you can go in the Ralph's in the mall if you have an emergency and the toilet is occupied. (4) the best parking in the lot is under the tree in the row diagonally across from Daphne's, especially in the summer months. However, the tree sheds on your car and you usually have to get there early in the morning or get lucky to get those spots. (5) The baristas are wearing masks, but most customers are not. Sit outside if this makes you uncomfortable and the weather is nice. (6) If you are sitting by the windows, then roll the blinds down. You don't have to ask, just do it yourself. read more

In between my patients I always come here for a quick coffee break and for a little snack. Sometimes there's a line sometimes there isn't. Staff is very friendly and knows there menu quite well. I always try my best to pick something new off the menu & today I ordered the Havana cappuccino. I'm not too much of a sweet coffee drinker I'm more in the lighter side. Due to COVID restrictions and safety the store rearranged their setup again. You can't enter to pick-up but they have a table set up front for picking up orders. Their display case has also been moved to the entrance area which I thought was cute and considerate for those who may not know what baked goods they want. Staff are friendly and right now they have such cute holiday cups, whether your drink is hot or cold. For COVID safety it is recommended to order via their mobile app and just pick up and go. Good food. Great Service. We all know Peet's Coffee is delicious. That's a given. But the employees at this particular location go above and beyond. Every time I go to this location, these folks are genuinely polite and eager to help. Elvia is friendly and attentive. She carried herself as if she owned the place (which is how an employee should be). Ximena prepared the drink quickly and was very helpful when I had questions. Zay, was new, but he was awesome. Arili was very genuine, friendly and eager to help. When I asked for food recommendations (what is your favorite food?), she took the time to point out the banana bread and the blueberry muffin. And yes, the banana bread was delicious. That was a great suggestion. I do branding and brand strategy, for a living. My job is to help organizations position their brand in such a way that they build genuine build loyalty. That experience starts with the people in the company, even before the product. Having said that, I always have a great experience, every time I go into this particular location, so much so, that I drive past two Starbucks to get to this Peet's, specifically because of the people that work there. My husband visited this location this morning and ordered a vanilla cappuccino with almond milk and a blueberry muffin. The barista who served him was not helpful. My husband had always ordered the same drink there without a problem, but this barista told him that they couldn't add vanilla in his drink because it was a cappuccino. She also said that almond milk wouldn't make a nice foam on the cappuccino, so she wouldn't recommend it. However, my husband has always had his drink this way at this location, any of Peet's Coffee, and Starbucks. He then checked with other staff and they said they were not sure why the barista refused to add vanilla and that they would talk with her. This barista lacks proper customer service training and also needs to be more aware of her attitude when interacting with customers. This location used to have more plant-based options, but this morning my husband didn't have other choices but the blueberry muffin. We hope that they would add more plant-based options and make sure their baristas practice good customer service. We will probably be back if this Peet's Coffee improves their services and food options. read more

The COVID-19 pandemic isn't keeping this coffee house closed. The lady in line in front of me - 6 feet away - was so happy that she could get her caffeine high. They have the best tasting coffee beans consistently! I hand grind my beans for my pour-over coffee maker and their beans here are always so fresh and aromatic! Never bitter! I buy a pound and it will last me about 12-14 days and stays fresh. I store my beans in mason jars to help keep them fresh for the duration. I always get one of the light roasts...either the Luminosa or the Aurora. They are equally light, fragrant and lovely! I haven't tried the other types of beans so can only speak to the light roasts. One of the things I truly appreciate is how friendly and helpful the staff always are. And they give you a free coffee/tea each time you purchase the beans! Great customer service! And they are doing a fantastic job of social distancing in this time of Coronavirus! I felt very safe and everything was clean and protected! read more

I went to Peet's to grab a morning Mocha Javiva and my friend ordered the Lavender Matcha. But the only thing is he did a mobile order at the other Peet's in Pasadena. We were both worried and felt so dumb when we went to the barista to ask if our order was ready. He mentioned that he didn't see an order for us and asked to see our mobile order receipt. When we showed it to him he was like "OMG no worries! I got you guys. This happens all time." We both looked at each other and we felt so bad but the barista (Jawdat) made us feel so much better. Once we got out drinks, Mine came out perfect but my friend didn't realize that the way he mobile ordered Lavender Matcha was hot rather than cold. So we asked Jawdat for a cup of ice to make it an iced Lavender Matcha. Jawdat was like did you meant to order Iced Lavender Matcha instead of Hot and we said yes. So instead of getting us ice to modify it to make our Hot Lavender Matcha, an iced one... He remade the drink to an Iced Lavender Matcha. My friend thought Peet's Matcha is way better than Starbuck's. THANK YOU JAWDAT FOR MAKING OUR PEET'S EXPERIENCE WONDERFUL :) Can't wait to come back and hope you are there to make our drinks. He was so nice, friendly and made our crazy morning so much better. Picking up Drink: There are two lines- One for mobile order pickup and the other for ordering as a walk-in. Love this place. I'm new to the area and started coming here when I wanted an alternative to Starbucks or coffee bean. This peets blows the completion out the planet. Great service. Great drinks. Great music and ambience. They've made my drink wrong a couple times, but we're always quick to remake it and speedily at that. I was looking at the other reviews and found it kinda funny how some people are upset at how a drink tastes when in fact it looks like they hardly pay attention to the description of said drink. How does that warrant a bad review just because YOU wanted to try something new and didn't like it. The world doesn't revolve around you. Show some humanity and maybe have a conversation while you're there. You'll be surprised to find out how friendly everyone is. I'm proud to be a new and returning customer here and look forward to racking up my points for free drinks. The only improvement is add to this place is having more employees to cover all grounds, but in our current economy I can't see that changing anytime soon. Ambiance/Decor: Nice ambiance with modern furnishings. Caters more to an older demographic at this location. Drink: I usually get their drip coffee. I like how their coffee never tastes burnt compared to Starbucks. Service: Pretty good. Baristas are friendly, attentive, and drink come out fast. Peet's Coffee has always been one of my go to coffee spots. I recommend getting the light iced Caramel Macchiato. It's super tasty and not too sweet. I ordered my usual coffee drink via mobile order through the app and when I arrived I asked the barista if they received a mobile order under my name and they did not. The barista told me to double check to see if I placed the order location for Hastings Village and come to find, I ordered to the Pasadena location. The barista told me that they'd be willing to order me the same drink instead of driving over to the Pasadena location. I thought that was really nice of them to do that! Unfortunately, the review is left for the rest of the staff. The 2 gentlemen that work here are always rude and turn off the ovens an hour before store close. Don't ask for a fork to eat your quiche. My iced Americano was very good and the bacon quiche was tasty. The women who took my order was friendly. And then I made the mistake of asking the barista for a fork to eat my quiche. She rudely and curtly informed me that they don't have forks. So I smiled and asked for a spoon. For this I got no response. She kept on doing what she was doing and then once she was done reached over for a spoon and put it on the counter without saying a word. The Havana cappuccino, they changed the amount of espresso shots they use for hot and cold beverage. For hot beverage, you get 2 shots for small size but if you order iced one, you only get 1 shot, which is so messed up. It tastes straight up milk and you can also tell by the color of the coffee. I used to get small iced Havana cappuccino. I tried both and loved it. I recently went back and got the same but it was just like literally drinking milk and not coffee. So I asked why it tastes so watered down and milky. The barista informed and apologized that they reduced the shot for iced one. So for small size, you only get 1 espresso shot instead of two, whereas hot small Havana cappuccino uses 2 shots. And they are same price??? Does that make any sense to anyone? Cuz it doesn't taste anything like coffee anymore. I am so disappointed. I had to add extra shot of espresso and paid for it. So I ended up paying $8 for a small cup of iced cappuccino. Customers would notice whether what they are giving us is a cup of milk with a little bit of coffee or it is actual cappuccino. I'll stop coming to Peet's for since there are a few other coffee shops that have been consistently good making same drinks for years but gotta say it's disappointing. read more
