Almost every visit my order is wrong, I've had multiple bad customer service experiences, the bathroom is never clean, they consistently don't update their inventory for mobile ordering and today I was overcharged and didn't realize until I left. This Starbucks has a drive thru making it my go to when I'm headed north. There is always a line and the parking lot is super small and always full. The Starbucks itself is pretty standard and I've never had any problems other than actually getting to it Expect to wait 10 minutes of you are going to go thru the drivethru, maybe longer I've seen the line go into the street before. Did someone say DRIVE-THRU?!? Let's face it, although I DO wake up early, I am NOT a morning person. I often have to take drives to LA for work. I'm often disappointed that LA has an overabundance of drive-thru Starbucks and we poor San Diegans have a mere few. And now... this gem pops up on my route to work! I have never been inside, but the drive-thru service has consistently been superior. I really only have one pre-requisite when it comes to a drive-thru Starbucks and that is that it needs to crank the line through. This location DELIVERS (figuratively that is). This is a nice looking store and it's so conveniently located, but I'm so tired of having my drinks made wrong. Honestly, I think they're just understaffed and running through the drinks a little too much on auto-pilot, but that doesn't change the end result of having an expensive drink to throw in the trash. Most recent examples: 1. Ordered a steamer (steamed milk + flavoring) through the app - got a creme frappuccino. So, you know, the opposite of what I wanted. 2. Ordered a white hot chocolate - got a white chocolate latte. Very much not appreciated, considering it was 8 on a worknight. 3. Ordered a caramel brulee creme (no coffee) frap - got the regular caramel coffee version. 4. Ordered a coffee frap with frap chips - no frap chips. 5. Ordered an iced tea with almond milk - no almond milk. Literally 5 of my last 7 drinks made significantly wrong. Some of these are immediately noticeable so I can get them fixed before I leave, but I can't tell you how tired I am of spending $6 on a drink, driving away, and realizing it's undrinkable once I'm 15+ minutes away. I don't have the time to make a 30 minute round trip back to get my drink fixed and when I'm ordering for someone else, it's not always possible to taste test before I leave. Please, work on the training of your baristas, their consistency, and their commitment to accuracy. They've all, with few exceptions, been super nice and cheerful even under what looks to be stressful conditions, but this is a truly frustrating location to frequent. I do think part of the blame lies with the staff for not being more careful, but I also think they're generally understaffed for the amount of traffic that they get. This drive thru is super fast, and it's really convenient right off the i5. I've been stopping by here on my way to work for the past month and hardly ever had any issues. The one time there was a mixup with my drink they fixed it no problem, and Sutton was really nice about it. Carter and Alex also are always great and ask how my day has been. This location is literally horrible. Avoid at all costs. I've come here about 10 times because it's the closest coffee to my house but I will be driving further to another location from now on. They have never gotten my order right. Not once. They either give me the wrong coffee, wrong sandwich, or both. The times I've gone through the drive thru, they've made me pull around to the front and come inside to get my correct order. So I stopped driving thru and started going inside. Well, going inside takes about 20 minutes. I worked at Starbucks for 4 years and I know how unacceptable it is to be so inaccurate and so uninterested in other people's time. I'm not a fan of the SBUX because their coffee isnt great; however, like McDonalds, they're ubiquitous and consistent. That said, this is my favorite drive-through, take-a-break spot on my way between Orange County and San Diego. The parking lot is always full, but their drive-through is fairly speedy, even when there are bleary-eyed drivers and distracted moms trying to tame their children in the back seat. Today I had a particularly fun moment. The drive-through dude was easy on the eyes, quick with a joke, and perhaps a surfer. When I held out my phone for him to scan, he hit it with the laser from 3 feet away. An impressive feat. We both laughed with delight and amazement and then shared a knuckle bump to celebrate his scanning prowess. The coffee and the chuckle got me the rest of the way home with a smile on my face and a song in my heart. read more

I have never been into this Starbucks. I have always driven through. I cannot attest to the cleanliness of the store itself. I see other reviews that it is not the best. What I can say, is that I've always had a pleasant experience going through the drive-thru. It is very busy. There is usually a wait. But, that's what you can expect from a Starbucks right off the freeway. Everyone has been very nice to me and they have always made my drinks correctly. read more

Conveniently, this drive-thru starbucks is off the 5 freeway. HANDS DOWN - this starbucks has THE BEST black coffee I've ever had at a Starbucks. It was phenomenal, on starbucks standards. Zero-acidity, perfectly timed, not over-roasted or under-roasted, perfectly balanced bitterness. Disclaimer: Don't avoid this Starbucks without trying it yourself. Every store/employee has bad days, so it's not fair to give a bad review on what might have been a fluke or a single incident. But when those "incidents" become a pattern, it's at least a yellow flag that's worth exploring. Give it a shot and see for yourself. I travel for a living, and probably visit different Starbucks 5-6 times per week - all over the country. I go there for consistency, like you do. The drinks are what we expect, and the customer service should make us feel welcome. It's almost always an unobtrusive, comfortable place to stop in a fast-paced day. We count on the friendly greeting, the (fairly) quick service, and the beverage that provides a few minutes of sanity in an otherwise crazy day. This particular Starbucks is a great location - right off the freeway between Orange County and San Diego. There are others around, but this one is just so accessible - it's tough to go anywhere else when I'm looking for that warm drink for a long drive. So I've probably dropped in there at least a dozen times over the past few months. Service is about the normal speed. It's rarely crowded. But there are two things that have happened consistently: 1. No one smiles. Not even at each other. There's no casual banter between baristas. It feels like I've walked into a sweatshop of forced labor, where people hate what they do but need the money. I've never been smiled at by the person taking my order, even when I try and make small talk - and never by the person delivering my order. Makes me wonder about the management that doesn't care enough to engage their employees. 2. I've never been greeted. The opening sentence is always, "What can I get for you?" Pair that with a lack of facial expression, and I've been tempted to say "Never mind" and walk out. I feel like I'm intruding on them by asking them for something. 3. The espresso drinks are consistently "light" - meaning there's more foam than milk. That happens occasionally, but it's a regular pattern here. A frequent customer gets used to the "weight" of the drink they're handed, and can tell when they've been cheated. It's easy to ask them to top it off - but it should be the exception, not the norm. Ask a frowning barista to add more milk and their expression seems to move to discouragement. Again - go in and see for yourself. In all my visits, the pattern is consistent on these three items. I'm not faulting the employees, because they're doing what they've been taught. I'm faulting the management for not fixing it, and for building an environment where employees have no reason to enjoy their jobs. Something's wrong at the top, and I feel sad for the people that have to work there. We go to Starbucks for a warm, friendly break in our day. That doesn't happen here, so I'll be driving a few extra blocks to find a different one in the future. I'll revisit in a few months to see if anything has improved. This review isn't telling you to boycott this place. It's telling management to fix the problem. It they put energy into training their frontline leaders so they provide the service and quality that people expect, the lines will the door. Treat the employees well, and their excitement will simply leak out. read more

I was served by a couple of sweet girls and especially the girl with glasses was really nice. I went here because of the drive thru which was convenient as I had an unfortunate rip in my shirt and couldn't go out. The one star I deducted for was the time it took to get my drink. There were only two cars ahead of me and I was the third but it took me 20 min to get through the drive thru. By the time I got out I saw a massive line that wrapped around to the street. I cringe to think how long it'll take for those cars. I would definitely recommend skipping the drive thru and go inside if there's that long of a line but I'm completely happy with the quality service and drink turned out great. read more
