This Starbucks is a nice size that has a decent number of chairs and tables. I prefer this location versus the other location right off the 5 freeway next to Zankou restaurant. I have been to a lot of Starbucks in my day and this is by far the worse one I have ever been to! Here is why... Lack of Service: I have been here several times where I have been standing at the counter waiting to be served and a full staff has completely ignored my presence. I mean full on looked at me for a minute without a word and walked away within seconds. Talk about rude. Last night I wanted to let them know there was like 6 people smoking in their outside eating area which is clearly marked "No Smoking within 20 feet" but no one would answer me or acknowledge my presence. Other times I have been there the service has come across rushed and unfriendly. Last week I was there and I wanted to purchase a refill. I stood there while the cashier restocked things for a few minutes. She even looked at me several times and didn't even say anything like "I will be with you in a moment." I know other reviewers say it's because it's so busy but that's no excuse. I've worked in customer service in busy establishments MUCH busier than this place and if someone can't have grace under pressure and provide excellent customer service, they shouldn't have the job. Way to make your customers feel like crap Starbucks! Lack of Seating: I know the place is super busy but the lack of seating is out of control. Half the people there don't even have Starbucks coffee or food. There are people with Robeks and Quiznos taking up the inside seating while using the internet. I'm sorry but the staff really needs to keep these people under control and let them know if they don't plan to purchase anything they need to leave. There is really no excuse besides laziness on the workers part. They manage to do it at the Empire Center which is just as busy and at the Bob Hope airport location and the location by Pavillions and the Downtown Burbank location (and they have to deal with a high population of homeless too!) If you can't get customer service right and seating for your paying customers then there is really something wrong there. Those are like the basics in a customer service based business. I will literally spend hours here to do school work because of the ample parking and space. I feel bad that such an excellent location employs baristas who are overly rude and careless about their jobs. I agree with what others are saying about their bad attitude. Not my favorite Starbucks for a few reasons. My biggest concern is the attitude of the employees. While there is one barista who is great, the majority are unfriendly and want to get you out without even an acknowledgment. It is like "give me your money and get the &@%# out" Second, is if I pay 60 cents for an extra, such as caramel, please do not put such a minuscule squirt of it. What a waste of money. I'm back here years later and honestly it's not much better. Firstly, they should probably have a third person expediting the line during treat receipt hour. Secondly, their new manager is worse than the last one. She never smiles, doesn't know her drinks, and is very argumentative. I wanted two separate transactions for my two star points and she was trying to tell me that if I spent 10 dollars on one transaction I could get four points. I told her my drinks weren't going to add up to ten dollars and preferred two transactions. After trying to convince me again and again I asked if she could please just do separate transactions. I understand they're supposed to try and upsell but not at a time when customers are constantly flowing in. I wonder sometimes how these baristas become managers. This Starbucks was UNBEARABLY slow. The cashier wandered away from the counter multiple times while there were customers and took her time to check if things were in stock. My iced green tea was not steeped enough and tastes like hello water. The breakfast sandwich was fortunately good but it was my second choice because they were out of spinach fold overs. read more

I've been a customer for 3 years and I have to say that this is one of the very best. Speed: When they have peak hours they are staffed with a barista, an assistant who does the cold drinks and specialty items and covers preparation of the orders for food and cooking it. They run back and forth constantly. They have 2 on register at peak hours and 1 on non-peak hours, that's when it is slower and the line doesn't move as quickly. Oh and Jen L., 15 min is slow??? You must have been in Common Core classes... let's evaluate: 7 customers (at peak hour) ahead of you... 7+1 = 1 min @ register, 2 min per barista drink= 3x8=24 min so 15 min. is great! - or you might use instant coffee at home? Attitude: Great. A few are softer spoken and not as "friendly" or "chatty" (they avoid eye contact etc.) but not everyone is good at that... they still do their work efficiently. In the past, businesses used to say "the customer is always right" however, that was in a different era when people behaved with civility and respect toward one another and yes, believe it or not when honesty was a virtue. There have been so many customers who are scam artists, abusive and have the attitude of treating the employees like they are lowly servants that I don't pay much attention to their whining. I've been in retail in the past and it's true "the masses are a**es" when it comes to how customers treat the employees. Mistakes: Whenever they've made a mistake they've always apologized, corrected the problem and I left satisfied. The few instances sited here by people with complaints are "one-offs". Mel: As a customer, if we have a problem we need to respectfully explain it to the business and ask for them to fix it. Wrong sandwich or the drink with a top that wasn't closed tightly... don't take it and walk away - you already knew what the chance were that it would spill... don't blame the business for your own stupidity. Nicely ask for a different cup that closes correctly. We're all grown up now and have to take responsibility for ourselves and choices. As for arguing with the customer, that's a no-no just give him the 2 transactions and get him through the line will you? He might even say "thank you". Cleanliness: Nearly always spotless. However, I took a few moments one day to pick up the trash - the customers seemed to think the floor and counter was their personal trash can. 2 steps away was a trashcan. Lazy slobs are not the fault of a business. You can't have it both ways... do you want them making your drinks and getting you out of there or spending their time picking up after your slovenly habits? Seating: We have the problem of so many out of work (how can they afford to drink Starbucks????) or with nothing better in their lives to do, than to park their a**es in Starbucks ALL MORNING making it their personal office. During peak hours - how about leaving when you're done with your drink? It's ridiculous how self-serving the public is, compared to the days when they were actually not rude or so "me oriented". Get a life, the world is NOT here to give you everything... despite what the likes of some will tell you... it's not a free ride. Get a frickin job and pay for your own WiFi ... And yes you can take your business and wallet down the road... with your attitude... I encourage you to... Starbucks will go on without you and frankly we (the customers who have to stand to drink their coffee) would rather you leave. Men Customers: When did it become fashionable to let a door close on a woman's face? If you see a woman walking up to the door, the proper and decent response is to hold the door and step aside and allow her to go ahead of you - not run up and beat her through the door. Your father (or mother if you didn't have a father role model-should have taught you that!) Grow a pair and act like a real man. Period. Women Customers: Same thing for you women... allow the older women to go ahead, hold the darned door and be nice to them YOU will soon be that older woman and hopefully you will have also earned the respect. (Why do I feel like I'm talking to a brick wall here?) Be sure to THANK the man that holds the door for you... he'll be more apt to do it again for the next woman. It is NOT acceptable to RUN to beat someone to the door... ohhh I'm sorry ... you're running late? Then set your darned alarm 1/2 earlier and learn some decency toward how you treat your neighbors, on the road or in the daily course of business it's the same... shape up your act, you are acting like whimpering babies that don't get their way. You can tell I have issues with spoiled rotten customers and people who have a holier-than-thou attitude toward others. Oh and get off your darned cell phone while driving- proof that you're an idiot if you don't. I have never written a bad review on Yelp for anything but today's experience at this Starbucks was just mind boggling. It was my turn in line and I ordered 2 grande hot coffees and and an Iced coffee and I asked the employee for a side of half & half milk and she said, " I'll have to charge you for it and I said really? And she said yes"! I was so confused so I thought to myself maybe they starting charging for half & half but I've been to so many Starbucks and I know they don't charge extra for it. This location somehow has the slowest baristas. I don't get it and I've been coming here for 3 years to pick up coffees for myself and my colleagues. Unbelievable. This is true in the morning before work, during lunch, at 4pm, and after work. As long as you have time to kill and are not on a deadline/no one is waiting for your return this place is fine (the baristas are competent and know how to make their beverages) but otherwise you'd be better off going to another location. read more
