What an amazing place to have coffee and a pastry. I love their coffee! It's not acidic like some other chain. Bold flavors and fresh beans on the ready. The service was profound! They were so kind to me and my curiosity of the coffee beans. They can pack you a fresh batch (grounded or whole) or you can pick up a prepackaged batch of beans. I got the whole beans myself . The place was bright and uppity... but it was serene for a place to do homework or an office away from the office. Can't wait to come back and grab another batch or 3 of fresh coffee. Today I am updating my review because I stopped by for tea on this beautiful Sunday afternoon and after I grabbed my tea at the counter I was walking toward my seat and I was intercepted by some girl I had never seen before. She loudly called my name and started telling me how I dumped my tea in the trash and at first I was confused because actually the trash was super full today and I literally had to push down a cup that was sticking out with my hand to make some space. I had no clue she was talking about the little bit of tea I had poured in the trash so I naively said that it was not mine because by I thought she was talking about the cup I pushed down in the trash. LOL Then she started raising her voice even more and said yes you did, I just saw you doing it! That's when I realized she was actually talking about the tea I poured! So of course I told her I won't do it anymore (I guess they use cheap trash bags that leak?) but I also told her that she should keep her voice down while talking to me next time. She was such on a power trip, I am not even sure if she understood what I meant. I looked around and some patron was staring at me because he heard the whole convo. Now, if you guys want to be upset about a small amount of liquid poured in the trash, then what about a dog sitting on one of the armchairs chewing on a milk bone treat? Is that ok? Because one day I showed up and there was dog hair all over the armchair where I like to sit. I was surprised but said nothing and used my lint brush to clean everything myself. Then another day I showed up again and I see a young lady sitting on the same armchair while her white Pomeranian was sitting on the other one across from her. Not only that but the dog was chewing on a milk bone treat leaving crumbs and saliva on the chair fabric! I could not believe what I was seeing. I am a dog owner, a vegan and an animal lover but how disrespectful of that girl to let her dog do that? She was staring at her phone the whole time, not caring about anything else. I tried to tell one of the employees but she decided not to do anything about it. So my question is why would you come to me with your loud mouth for a tiny bit of hot tea in the trash but the dog thing is perfectly fine? LOL Also if you do not want people to dump tea or coffee in the trash then maybe use common sense and do not fill it up to the top especially if I order some oat milk on the side. Another suggestion, you can ask me when I place my order if I need room like they do it at other coffee shops! I am always very careful when I grab my cup because the counter is super high, I am pretty short and I could easily spill hot liquid on my hand because they fill it up to the top. I am always fair in my reviews and I give credit to people who deserve it but I do not appreciate when an employee is being so dramatic and rude. I love Philz.... But this location needs help. There was serious disorganization resulting in long wait times. I arrived at 10 am and didn't get my drinks till 10:30. I came and ordered. Went next door to the UPS to make returns (stood in line for ten minutes there) came back and still had to wait 20 additional minutes. To make matters worse my drink wasn't made the way I normally get it and I didn't have enough time to wait around for them to remake it. I definitely won't be returning to this location. This was the exact opposite experience from my pleasant experiences at the Pasadena location. read more

Haven't been to this location but been in the area a few times. The street is wide which is nice, lots of room and street parking was surprisingly easy. I did a mobile order ahead of time to try the new drink flavors (Caramel Coconut & Salted Butterscotch) which are two of my favorites. Took about 20 min drive and with the ordering ahead of time and parking, it was ready at the counter for mobile pickup when we got there. It was a quick in and out which I love. Pretty big location and nice outdoor patio area. I love the new coconut drink however the butterscotch one was lacking in flavor for some reason. Wow. So disappointed. I love Philz coffee but after visiting this location for the first time today, not sure if I will go to Burbank again. Simple 2 iced drink order placed via online at 8:52am. ETA for ready time was 9:00am. I arrived at 8:58am. Drinks were finally ready at 9:14am. 22 minutes to prepare two simple drinks is not rocket science. I am so excited about this location! I have been craving a Philz Coffee close by and was pumped when I learned this location was opening. The location is great! It's one of those rare locations that actually has a parking lot in the back (about 20 spots) as well as some street parking around. There is a surprising amount of seating (inside and outside). The inside seating has a little bit of everything with standard tables (for 2-3 people), a counter top bar, and some comfier chairs. The tables and seats are also spread out well so it's not cramped or bottlenecked at the pick-up bar. The outside patio also has tables and is covered in shade allowing for it to be used all-year. While you can come work here, I wouldn't recommend for someone trying to do deep work (especially if sitting inside). It can get pretty lively and loud between the coffee machines, people, and the music. The location has so much natural light that can come through the many windows, making the ambiance just fantastic. It's a bright and positive atmosphere - and that's before the coffee! So the coffee...The coffee is great! Philz makes each cup individually pour-over style. Since it is pour-over style, you are getting iced or hot coffee or cold-brew. For first-timers, be aware that they do not have lattes (or espresso beverages). For people who enjoy coffee straight-up, the blends are smooth and consistent and there a lot of options depending roast you want (light, medium, dark) and desired flavor profile. Each roast has a few options, which I appreciate. For people who enjoy coffee not-black, you can customize with your preferred milk and sweetness level, with options essentially for low/medium/high for each. They offer non-dairy milks (almond or oat milk) which is nice! If you're stuck on what to get, they also have a few signature drinks that are fan-favorites (hello Honey Haze!), as well as some fun seasonal beverages. My favorite blend is the Philtered Soul blend (medium roast) and prefer it iced. I also love an iced Honey Haze or checking out one of the seasonal drink options. For people who don't want coffee (or want more than coffee), they also have quite a few tea options, as well as food options. They have breakfast burritos, breakfast sandwiches, as well as classic bakery items like bagels, breads, croissants and cookies. In my experience, the food has always been good, and they do tend to offer some vegan and gluten-free options. I personally like the plant-powered sandwich (vegan) when I add food to my order. The service has been pleasant when I've gone in. The baristas keep the orders moving, but don't sacrifice on the quality. If it's crowded, it can feel a bit overwhelming to order, but I don't think that is unique to Philz, that is literally anywhere. When you go to pick up your drink, I love that the baristas want you to love your drink and always ask you to taste it when you pick-up to see if you are happy with it. They are happy to add changes to make your beverage just the way you want, which is unique from a lot of other coffee shops. We happened to be up in the area and there was a Too Good To Go available so we decided to swing by. I had never had their coffee before and we just got an Americano but it was good. The pasteries we got in our goodie bag were plentiful and super tasty. I wish there was a Philz closer to home because I would like to try our more of their menu. The staff was super nice, welcoming as we walked in and smiling. The store was nice, a good amount of seating as well. Parking was easy as well, parked in front on the street (make sure you pay close attention to the street signs in the area though, just everywhere up here). Oh Toluca Lake Philz. Where shall I begin. I've had a love/hate relationship with Philz for some time now. Back around 2018 I lived in Glendale and their Philz was new. A fresh idea with great tasting drip. But something happened. Maybe it was a post-covid thing. But they got popular and they couldn't handle the crowds. The quality went down and the corporate came out. So I was cautiously optimistic for the new Philz opening in my current hood of Toluca Lake. There's already a Starbucks, Coffee Bean, a person serving pop up coffee, and our famed Priscillas all in earshot of this joint. So to me the standout would be fast tasty drip coffee (if I was in the mood for that). You walk in and it feels new. But like. Kit new. Like someone at Philz Corporate now sells prefab "McPhilz" stores. The ambiance is from another era. It's not mid century. It's just mid. The person taking the order has always been friendly at this one. Maybe a little too friendly. Like it's an act. Cause what they're not doing well is listening. They've messed up my order and made me repeat it just about every time. And one of the things about Philz is its pretty basic ordering style. There's never been a crazy line at this one when I went. But even semi empty I feel like I've had to wait an absurd amount to get my drinks. There's one guy in particular that has messed up my order (confusing customer names) a few times and looks like he hates me every-time he gets me a drink. I've walked by a few times when they hold staff meetings out front and overhead things at earshot like "when we are out of green tea we are out for the year" - so that's depressing. Overall I'm glad people are getting work. But it seems too corporate. And the coffee reflects that now in its boring taste. TL is all about its small indie places. So get a few extra steps and head over to Priscilla's. Or get a tasty cup from the guy selling around the corner from TJs and support his dreams. read more

There is inside and outside seating. They have two all gender bathroom. The bakery items are fresh with an assortment of bagels, breads and bear-claws to name a few. I was so excited to see Philz opened in Toluca Lake! Perfect addition to the neighborhood. There's a small parking lot out back and some street parking. There's some seating inside though not a lot of space, and some outdoor patio seating as well. Service was a bit slow at first, when we came in and stood by the register it took a while for someone to come over and take our order. We stood there for maybe 7 minutes or so, maybe they were understaffed. Eventually Fabian came over though and he was apologetic for the wait and friendly. I ordered my favorite, the mint mojito. This is not a quick coffee stop. Expect to wait over 10-15 minutes for your coffee. But the service is excellent they will make sure to make your coffee exactly the way you like it. You can even taste and have them adjust it. They are known for their creamy coffees Also, I had no idea they only have cold brew and regular coffee. I'm a latte person so I won't be back. read more

Has become one of my favorite coffee places to go to and so glad there's one closer to me now. It definitely gives a work space vibe so it's great for working remotely or having a meeting. I will say there's a major echo so between the coffee machines and the music it gets really loud. So if you prefer quiet I would sit outside. Also love that they have ample seating both inside and out. In terms of my favorite things to get I love their mint mojito coffee and the ginger snap coffee. As someone who's been going to Philz since 2014 and lives in San Francisco, where Philz originated, I know what I like and what to expect. When the barista said let me know if it needs anything... I let the barista know my drink wasn't quite right. Instead of asking me to clarify, I was met with what felt like a lesson on how I should have ordered my drink. I don't need instructions, I just want my coffee made the way I'm used to and have over the past decade become accustomed to. This new shop is a nice location, but in the last 2 weeks we've been here 2x and both have received mint mojitos that tasted totally wrong. (As if no coffee at all, watery, and imbalanced). One time my husband had it and the second my friend, and both made this comment. We waited an hour for an online order and had a hard time on how to approach the staff to tell them their signature drink wasn't right so we left. As a longtime fan of Philz Coffee since the early 2000s back in the Mission District, and having strictly sipped Philz during my Berkeley years, I was excited to see a location in Burbank. That said, my experience here was a bit underwhelming. The store interior was freezingly cold, so much so that it felt uncomfortable to hang out or enjoy my drink. When I ordered a hot green tea, the barista handed it over and tossed the lid toward me, not exactly the welcoming vibe I'm used to. Staff could definitely use more training, unless this is just how it goes in LA. Still love Philz, but this location didn't quite live up to the legacy. read more

This store is heaven on EARTH! I not only love the service from the staff but I love the outdoor seating! The mural that faces the bench outside is so beautiful and really just transports you to a zen where you can get so much work done. For weeks this location advertised that they would have a 'soft opening' 6/30 & 7/1 The morning of 7/1 I arrange my lunch so that my wife and I could visit this new coffee shop around noon. "Now Open" graphic on the window facing Riverside, we walk inside and are immediately made to feel unwelcome "We're closed" says one of the employees sitting at a laptop. No apologies, no explanation, just a rigid scolding you might expect from walking into a restaurant at 8:59 when they close at 9:00 They followed us to the door, locking it behind us. Things happen. Perhaps they ran out of cups or a machine wasn't functioning, but none of that was communicated. I hope whoever is in charge or this location considers this interaction as an opportunity to reinforce the important of customer service with the staff. Between Coffee Bean, Pricilla's, Hank's and Starbucks; there is just too much competition in the area for a new player to succeed if they're not firing on a cylinders. So excited that a Philz opened up close to me! Has my favorite iced coffee and such a great location. Other food places nearby and the best thing is there is parking in the back or on the street. The store is very clean and plenty of seating. I really like the outside seating and it has a cover so plenty of shade! Weird place. There are tons of coffee varieties on the board, making it feel like you're throwing a dart when you choose (...unless I guess you're a "regular"). Instead of half and half, they use thick cream, which overpowers the coffee's flavor, and makes it unpleasantly rich. The egg & bacon burrito is carb-heavy and chintzy on the protein. Ambience is "off"... no good place to stand while you wait, music a little too loud. I've been a few times, don't plan to go back. read more

I am just writing this to warn other people so they don't end up like me. Maybe I am the only person in the world who didn't know that Phil's is a drip coffee only establishment. They have no espresso drinks to offer. This is confounding to me. The people were fine and it was nice inside? I guess? It took a really long time to get the drink and it was really busy and I don't understand why people even come here or how this place is in business. I know it's a chain and it's not the employees fault but like... Don't come here. Also, I asked for a hot drink and I got it ice... Also, the ice drinks come in hot cups?
