I like supporting Starbucks that offer a café experience (rather than just a drive through or walk up) and this location is a wonderful example of why I frequent Starbucks as opposed to any other place to get coffee (coffee can be gotten anywhere). The atmosphere here stinks! Every time I've come to this location it smells like marijuana and people smoking fentanyl. The people who work behind the counter, incompetent and rather disrespectful. For example, frequently My coworkers and I have come here to get coffee in the afternoon and the attendance wanna know more about your personal life rather than understanding how to charge for the cost of the coffee.The best way to describe it is passive aggressive, work environment, and frequently the people who are working here are careless and they come across as snarky. It's not a place that I care to bring my daughter to anymore because every time we walk in there, she also talks about how bad it smells and how the people look unclean in this establishment. I had the worst experience at this Starbucks this morning, and I cannot stop thinking about it. I went through the drive through at 6am (still dark), and was the only one there. As I turned around the drive thru corner and approached the window. I noticed movement below the window and I realized there were two very large RATS eating fallen food. I told the guy at the window, and he said he has seen them around the dumpster before. I thought OMG this is a Starbucks, and they just "deal" with the rats?!?! Then I thought OMG we have rats this huge in our area?!?! I stopped nearly every morning. I have no desire to return after this experience! read more

When the drive through gets busy the in store service is generally abysmal. Today my wife's personal travel cup got lost in their assembly line somehow and then re appeared. Our sandwiches took forever to come out. Our unhappy looking barista seemed particularly unhappy when i mentioned she forgot the personal cup discount and therefore the rewards that come with it. "ill have to do the whole thing over" was her comment. She then incorrectly told me the rewards would post anyway. It didnt. Im not sure if she just lied or is ignorant of their system. Starbucks is Starbucks, but this is a particularly large, comfortable store on the north end of Bellingham. There's also a fabulous view of Mount Baker from here on a clear day. I don't get up here that often, but when I have, I've found the baristas to be friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. I received a gift card so I went in to use it. The lady at the counter was very short with me, it seemed me taking a few minutes to look at the pastries was irritating to her. When asked if I was going to order a drink I said no (i don't like their coffee) I think this is what cut her tolerance for me down. I didn't even feel comfortable enough to ask questions. This Starbucks was a favorite daily destination when bicycling. Pre pandemic the staff were almost like family. All of the regular baristas that were there are now gone and it is mostly younger people who are not as jovial as the past employees. I'm a night shift nurse who needs a hit of caffeine in order to stay alive and keep people safe. Unfortunately, this Starbucks, which is closest to me, has the slowwwwwwest service I've ever encountered. On multiple occasions around 6:30pm, I have waited 20 minutes in their drive-thru behind 4 cars when I could not get out because a car had pulled in behind me. When I've abandoned the drive-thru and gone inside, it's the same mind-numbing snail pace. People have told me about having similar issues here, noting that they have stopped going there entirely and are instead going to the smaller (dare I say better...?) coffee shops nearby. It's Saturday night and this place has just the right amount of buzz, seating and energy to keep a student arduously going! The layout of this location is very spacious, with sever tables (round and square), not fixed, as well as several couches and leather seats. I really like this location because the parking is abundant and the seating is plentiful. This is a nice Starbucks location. Plenty of seating inside. The service is always very quick. Most if the time I just go through the drive thru because I'm in a hurry. The longest I have ever waited for my coffee was two minutes! The reason it only got 4 stars was the location. The parking lot is normally full and getting in and out of the lot can be difficult when there is a lot of traffic. But other than that fast service and friendly people! read more

I love this company and will go out of my way to spend my money here over any other coffee shop because of our similar values and the good things I hear about how they treat their employees. That being said, I very rarely see Starbucks employees who look miserable or who act over the top nice to mask their loathing for their job -- I'm sure they exist, but I digress. Specifically this location has the NICEST most welcoming and accommodating baristas I have ever encountered. I dont know if they can sense my sometimes-depressed vibes or what, but whenever I'm feeling bummed or just not very confident or happy, I'm always showered with compliments and super nice conversations with the baristas and it genuinely makes my day so much better. Also they make my order perfect every single time, even when I switch things up. They were actually closed for some reason randomly, a couple months ago and I literally PANICKED because I thought they had closed permanently. False alarm. All is well. It seems silly to me to write a review of Starbucks, because... it's Starbucks! Except, this Starbucks is awesome. It's super spacious, so you don't have to worry about finding a table to sit and get some work done. Aside from that, this starbucks location has some of the friendliest staff I've ever encountered. They always have a smile, they take the time to chit chat with you, despite being super busy.. and they genuinely are nice people. I order a Berry Hibiscus refresher to go along with my coffee (rather, to drink after) which takes a little longer to make, and they always make it just right, instead of rushing through it. I'm not a daily coffee drinker, but I find myself heading here when I do want a cup, over some of my previously favorite local spots. So, that says something! read more

I frequent this Starbucks to drop my roommate off at work or pick her up. Now let me say having a barista roommate is amazing because they have the ability to make the best artistic crazy drinks you could think of. I have liked this location for a long time due to it's relatively massive size. You can pretty much always find a place to sit. The staff is always really nice. I thought the redesign was going to make this store better, particularly having a cozy fireplace. However, the grey walls and the torturous new wood chairs corporate decided to put in make me not want to come here. And I'm kinda crushed because, like I said, this was a great place to hang out. I'm still giving this store four stars because I'm sure this stupid cane chair fad will be phased out soon. read more

I came to this Starbucks today, which I do on most days because this location is closest to my house. I am going to have to skip this from now on due to the VERY rude manager named Mariah here. I came in with a simple question about the pricing of my regular drink, and when I got that out of the way I ordered my drink and a tall drip coffee with cream and one sugar (I always order this when my boyfriend is with me). Everything was fine and dandy until he realized his coffee didn't have cream or sugar. Simple mistake, but it had never happened before because like I said I come here daily they know my drinks and I always say cream and sugar. Anyways, we go back into the store (ordered drive thru) and he got his cream and sugar while I waited to talk to the manager about what had happened. Mariah proceeded to give us an attitude which I had never received for politely complaining about an order before. Mind you I've worked at Starbucks and know how simple it really is. Mariah was the rudest customer service representative I've ever encountered. She talked back to me, claimed I never asked for cream or sugar and that they always put it in when asked. Sorry but excuse me???? My boyfriend also commented about how he had to sip down the coffee to add the cream and sugar and it burned his lips, and Mariah was again very rude and said "well the coffee is hot" in the snarkiest tone. I am never going to come back to this HORRIBLE Starbucks, only because of MARIAH.
