I'm not one to leave reviews. But if you are sensitive to cigarettes...I would avoid this place. I was wafted with a blast of stale cigarette smell when the girl working took my order (it stunk like my grandmas nasty 20 year smoked in car). I thought it was the car at the window across from me, but then I got my drink and the lid and cup smell like it and then my hands from touching it! ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING and unsanitary, If you know, you know the smell. Stale, old, obviously smokes in her car. Obviously does not wash her hands after smoking. I'm so grossed out. I really want to like BA, but every single time I want to go there it's a long wait and it takes forever to receive my drink. The drink is never really hot enough, and it flavorless. The employees that work there seem to have a bit of an attitude and absolutely no sense of urgency. Lots of talking happening, then they ask again what I ordered. Absolutely love the customer service at this location. I usually walk across the street from the Roger Jobs dealership whenever I have one of my cars serviced (their coffee is so-so). While its true that there is better quality coffee in either Blaine or British Columbia (Surrey area), Brewed Awakening offers a good array of mixed coffee and iced beverages to start your day. And the coffee us usually strong AF, so be prepared to get that initial "Wow Factor" of that caffeine hitting your esophagus, & entering your blood stream. While this location primarily caters to drive-thru traffic, you'll be okay as a walkup. And if not, I really don't care. I'm walking up anyway to place my order, even if I'm standing in front of a car with my invisible rickshaw. The service here is absolutely horrible. Every single time I come there are several girls in there who are very rude and ask me "what do you want" like I am inconveniencing them.They also just stand there and talk to each other while I'm patiently waiting for my order for over five minutes when I am the only person there. Great local coffee stand that has so much more than coffee. They really are a great drive-thru for breakfast & lunch. Our favs are their Everything Bagel with Bacon cream cheese (yes Bacon, need I say more). Their breakfast burritos are filling and yummy with cream cheese and again- bacon. For lunch you can get a 1/2 sandwich that is made to order with soup or chips, pickle, & a mint for less than $10. Such a life saver for those on the go & don't want anything greasy. Completely messed up my order and when I called they made it out that it was my fault, so I paid full price for a cold bialy that was covered in Cream cheese when I asked for egg, ham and light cream cheese. I went back there and the owner was completely rude to me and told me it was my fault. I asked for a refund so she gave me back half what I paid and not the tip money. About a month ago I got an iced drink and there was a hair in it. Fine. Accidents happen. Both girls had their hair down so it's not that surprising. Today I had a hair in my sandwich.... one girl had her hair down and the other two had their hair up. They told me that it happens and would remake the sandwich. I said no thank you I've lost my appetite. I told the girl with her hair down that it's standard practice when working around food, one of them piped up and informed me that it got windy in there and things tend to blow around. Alright. Where do I even begin.. I've had some of my best friends work for this stand and get treated absolutely terribly. They were hired to be baristas but didn't even touch the espresso machine until 6 months into the job. Their job description should have been more clear.. it'll be breaking down boxes in a cold shed, making wraps, doing dishes, and being scolded for calling out sick when legitimately bed-ridden and unable to make it into work. The owner does not follow proper business practices and runs the most unethical management style I've ever been exposed to. On to their coffee, yes, it tastes fine just like any other coffee shop in town but do not trust those first few sips. I went to pop on in to grab a coffee one day and was horrified to find sugar ants floating in the coffee after taking my first few sips. I waited in line for over 10 minutes. On the opposite side, car after car was served. Finally, there was just one car in front of me, and no one on the other side, yet nothing was happening. I realized that the three girls working were standing around the window chatting and flirting with the two guys in the car. Then, to add insult to injury, a truck pulled up behind me. Finally, someone comes out of the stand, and I think she's going to take my order. Wrong. I went and ordered the same drink i've been ordering for the past 6 years from who i think is the owner. i get my drink & realize that they forgot to put the flavor in, so i go back and tell them. The owner takes my drink and talks crap about me right to the other worker saying "she didn't ask for white chocolate. obviously she isn't going to get something she didn't ask for." Then, the owner tells the other worker to charge me 80 cents for the white chocolate. They mess up my drink & I have to pay for it. I am a barista & even if the customer didn't remember to order the flavor, you don't talk about them like that right in front of them & then make them pay 80 cents. Is that really worth it? To top it off, my drink wasn't even good. Super watered down. If you want a good drink go to Cool Beans in Bellingham. They have multiple locations, amazing drinks, and very friendly staff. The girls working were friendly enough, but I literally watched one of the girls drop ice cubes on the counter, pick them up with her bare hands (the same hands that had touched the window sill, money, and her own face and hair) and put them in my drink right in front of me. This place is a staple for me, as my work is right next door. They served delicious treats from the Bagelry and from the Dutch Bakery and their breakfast wraps are amazing! I also really enjoy the strawberry smoothies. The bagel sandwich is a great deal, for $6.00 you get your choice of meat, cheese, and bagel as well as a bag of chips a pickle and a mint. My one complaint is that eating here really adds up. read more
