senorita bread: 8.5/10 very delicious and the texture tastes great. it has a little bit of sweetness with glaze and the softness is perfect. it's so fluffy and the bread stretches when you take a bite. once you eat one, you can't stop. malasada: 7/10 got the cream malasada and it tastes like a regular donut. nothing special but it does taste good. the cream is delicious, thick and creamy. when you take a bite, the cream is packed. the bread is decent compared to the cream. overall, service was quick and friendly. So I heard about this place, and have been wanting to try their famous señorita bread. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a small Filipino bakery in a strip mall off of Ball Road and Gilbert Street. Their sign isn't loud so it may be hard to locate, but it's at the end of the strip mall along Ball Road, away from Gilbert Street (tucked in the corner).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It's about a 10-minute drive from Disneyland. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I arrived on a Wednesday before 10:00am back in April, and the parking lot was pretty empty.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There were maybe two customers in front of me, but I think they were waiting for fresh señorita bread so I ended up having to wait a while for them to finish. While I was waiting, I saw the already packaged señorita bread and ended up picking those up because the wait was taking longer than expected. I bought the nutella ($5.00), dulce de leche ($5.00), and ube señorita bread ($5.25), and the cheese pimiento buns ($4.00). I also got the ube cream, guava, and dulce de leche malasadas ($2.50ea). Their nutella and dulce de leche breads were pretty good. The bread was slightly sweet and very moist, kind of like a stickier version of King's Hawaiian sweet rolls. They definitely tasted better if heated up in the microwave for a few seconds. Personally, I'm not a caramel person, so the dulce de leche one was too sweet for me. I wasn't a fan of the ube one though. The ube cream looked like it seized up somewhere during baking so it was grainy. The cheese pimiento rolls were also on the sweeter side since the buns were already sweet. The malasadas were good, but not a huge difference for me between them and regular donuts filled with cream. I can see the freshly baked señorita bread being really good...but not sure if there was enough pull for me to make another trek out here. read more

This was my first time coming here. I've had this at a party and it was SO SO good! Came in on a Friday morning around 10 expecting to see a long line. To my surprise, there was just one person ahead of me. I got a box of 40 starbreads and it was about $32! Very reasonable for these amazing fairly sweet breads I also got 2 custard malasadas. I'm from Hawaii, and for us, a malasada is a Portuguese fried donut with sugar on it. This was no malasada that I'm familiar with. It was more like a custard filled donut. It was eh...ok. The custard was just ok too. The ratio of custard to donut was spot on. I'd probably just stick to the starbreads. If you looking for a great item to bring to potlucks, the starbread will be a hit! read more

Just left with a bag of the Senorita bread and had to instantly write a review. They are handed to you piping hot. I ate 3 in a row in the car. They are some of the most delicious pieces of sweet bread I've ever had. So simple yet so good. They are buttery, pillowy soft, the base has a layer of crunchy glaze that tasted like melted butter and condensed milk?? Idk how they do it but I'm addicted now lol Gonna bring some to new years party at my sisters. The lady who helped us was really sweet too. I had never tried señorita (Spanish) bread before (actually a Filipino bread). I didn't realize that the pricing on the wall was for the Spanish bread. We got five for $4! They brought it out piping hot and fresh and my god. They were a revelation. The bottom was a tiny bit crisp from the butter inside the dough, and you could taste the sugar butter filling inside, but it was rolled in, and thus more like a flavor note where everything melded beautifully in your mouth. I had one later at night and these are definitely best had fresh. We also ordered the half off, day old mochi donuts. I wasn't impressed with the texture but my friend enjoyed them. I LOVE the seniorita bread! Butter, sugar, water, and ?yeast at least--amazing. They are like sweet mini breadsticks that melt in your mouth. If they were healthier, I would eat them every week. Okay, I may be biased because I first tried these during a bright moment of intense work training when someone brought them in to clinic/work in NorCal. When I found out they were open in SoCal, it was like a dream come true. The shop is in the corner of a typical Anaheim strip mall. Staff is matter of fact but cordial. There are also decent classic donuts for an amazing value: only place these days that you can get a dozen for $16. Mochi and filled donuts cost more. There are also flavored seniorita bread options like ube, but I like the fresh original ones the best. There are also ensaymadas and a few other sweets. Overall great value and highly recommend. The location is at the corner of this small shopping center area and it's a small establishment that can fit about 4-6 people comfortably but more can fit and wait in line inside but it would be too crowded. The staff was welcoming and nice. We purchased the 15-piece señorita bread. We waited for about 6 minutes and we received a fresh batch. It was sweet, fluffy, and warm. It was some delicious goodness. 5/5 I loved that we received fresh señorita bread. They also have other bread items and desserts on display as well as drinks. There are a lot of parking spots but since this location is located where many other establishments are located it can be hard to find a parking spot luckily we found one. I was craving for some seniorita bread so I finally made a stop here. We were lucky to get there in the mid afternoon time because they were making a fresh batch of bread. We waited maybe around 10 minutes for the new batch to come out. We also got their malasadas and mochi donut to try. Their malasadas was good! We got the custard filling one and the custard wasnt too sweet but it was dusted in sugar on the outside and that was a little too sweet for me. Their donut mochi was a bit dry and too sweet for me. Lastly, their seniorita bread was to die for. Not sure if its because it was fresh but it was still hot when we tried it in the car. The bread was soft, pillowy and warm. It could be a little less sweet but overall it was still good. Its a super small bakery which is more like a takeout place with no seating. StarBread specializes in their Senorita bread. I tried this spot after having it bookmarked for awhile and was looking for an after lunch snack. I came in with one other person and decided to get some of their mochi donuts, Malasadas, and their popular Senorita bread. The mochi donuts were smaller than a regular mochi donut. They also were mediocre. The malasadas were pretty good but a little too much bread ratio compared to the filling. Our favorite flavor was guava. The cheese one was also good. As for the senorita breads, they came out warm and delicious. They were also a lot sweeter than I thought they would be. I loved how they kinda just melt in your mouth and were a little chewy in a good way. I wish they made a savory version of these. This a grab and go type of spot. There's no seating. Just realized that I never wrote a review back on 05-06-20 when I first purchased this because of an encouraging friend who told me to try it.... I recall it wasn't anything to write home about, especially since I'm a total BREAD LOVER, but in all fairness, I went close to closing, so I did NOT get to experience the warm freshness of the StarBread freshly made. I was in the area a few days ago, so I went 3 blocks out of my way to hit them up early in the morning. Ordered 10 pcs and YES, I GOT THEM FRESH AND HOT right out of the oven. Unfortunately, they were SO FRESH, that the bottoms appeared "doughy". I'm a baker and I can tell when something is NOT cooked through. The taste and texture of the tops differed from the bottoms. OK, they were sweet and bread-like and what isn't yummy right out of the oven? I ate two before I backed out of my parking spot, but SMH. Is this what they are really supposed to taste like, or are mine half done (?) I ordered the 25 piece and I have to say, they're amazing when they're fresh and warm. The starbread also does not give a heavy feel that some breads or pastries do sometimes when I eat them. I'm perfectly fine with that as it tells me that they are confident in their product. We lucked out as they were fairly empty on a 3:30 pm Friday. However, their signs displayed on the right side of the store front before you walk through the door and on the right side of the counter tells me they have prepared for lines outside of the door on some days. This bakery specializes in mochi donuts, pan de Sal, and donuts. But the real STAR of the show and what most come here for are the senorita rolls. Imagine a very soft, warm butter roll straight out of the oven. You want to eat the buttery bottom part of the roll, but you don't want to waste your calories on the bready, top part. These senorita rolls, or Spanish rolls where I'm from, solved that problem for you as the entire roll is smaller, sweet buttery, and 1 to 3 bites of yumminess. They also stuff these with flavors like ube, cream cheese, dulce de leche, Nutella and strawberry fillings. But I prefer the plain buttery ones straight out of the oven. They make these all day long so you can get them FRESH even prior to closing. As soon as we ordered, a crowd rolled in. I also double-dare you to not eat one in the car as you drive home. read more

I was in Anaheim, and StarBread came highly recommended for their señorita bread. What is señorita bread, you ask? Well to me its like hot pan de sal breadsticks coated w/ butter & sugar. They sell in many multiples, but these things fly off the shelves. They are so addicting, but I highly recommend you eat them warm. They are light, airy and oh so delicious. We also tried some squares and malasadas, but those pale in comparison to the señorita bread. The staff is friendly and warm. Our order was filled quickly. The only rec would be to have some sweet Flip drinks to accompany the baked goods. Señorita bread is on the menu for all of our family gatherings now. If you had to get anything at this shop, it would be the Senorita bread and the cream cheese Senorita bread. The mochi donuts were okay. The malasadas were disappointing. Maybe it's because I was spoiled by the ones I ate in Oahu but this wasn't even close. The ube didn't taste all that great either, it tasted more like purple vanilla frosting. The squares were like small cakes. The ube one could have been better but the mango and pandan were quite flavorful and tasty. Service was a bit slow as they don't take orders online or over the phone and there's a risk that whatever you're yearning for may run out before you get to the register. Their señorita bread reminds me of the bread from Nanding's in Hawaii, but I think they call it Spanish roll, I can't remember. It's soft, sweet and delicious.
