I was running errands in Santee and i didnt have time to go to my normal nail shop so i stopped by this one as a walk in. I didnt have to wait long. All of the ladies were really nice, not only to me but all of their customers as well. The decor is nice, they have the cutest dolphin wall. When you walk in, you have to check in on an iPad and pick your color while you wait. They have a good amount of nail colors , not too little and not too much to where you get overwhelmed picking a color. There is plenty of parking since they are in a big shopping mall next to target. The prices are fair as well. And a big thing for me is making sure the tools come out of a sterile pouch which they did have here. The only reason i took away a star was because my nail tech was really rough. She was squeezing my fingers so hard they started to cramp and then when she was cutting my cuticles she made 2 of my fingers bleed then squirted alcohol on them and continued on and she was still very rough i was anxious the whole time. And you don't get a hand massage which is normally my favorite part :( . Other than that, they did a good job with my manicure. read more

I've come about 3 times so far and have had an amazing experience each time with different techs :) Here are some of my favorite things: 1. It's central location in Santee Town Square next to Party City 2. They take you in fast 3. They're VERY thorough and take their time to make sure it's done right 4. Everyone is very nice!! 5. First time customer and I am very pleased. I called about 40 min ahead of time to schedule an appointment and they had a spot for me. When I got there they were able to seat me right away in my pedicure chair. The woman who took care of me was very nice and really good. She had my feet feeling brand new. I am very happy with the service and atmosphere in Star Nails. I believe I will be back! read more

Went this morning around 10:30 and it was not too busy so we got in right away. They sadly did not have the color I wanted and I chose a back up which they did not have either. The lady then chose a color for me which I liked but I was shocked they didn't have them if they advertise them. She only worked on my feet for about 20 minutes and was done, which I thought was really fast. She was also rude when we asked questions and was very rough when buffing my nails. She barely filed them and it wasn't until I got home that I noticed they were jagged. I had to refile them when I got home so I wouldn't snag them. Overall, horrible experience and I will not be going back. read more

I frequent the Trolley Shops, so I decided to pop in here for a mani and pedi. I was able to be taken within an hour of when I called. The salon was pretty busy. They do have plexiglass in between each pedicure chair, but the chairs were next to each other. I wasn't uncomfortable, however. I wasn't really impressed by their nail polish selection. I feel that there could have been more regular nail polish colors. I had to settle on the color I chose. I wish there had been more pink and springy nail color options to choose from. The services I received were good, but what bothered me about this experience was come tip time. I seldom carry cash, and I asked my nail tech if I could tip using Venmo. She said she herself did not have Venmo, but that the salon owner did. Since I was already paying my bill using Venmo, I asked if I could leave a tip that way. She said I could, but that the salon owner doesn't give her the entire tip, but only a portion of it. Since I had no cash, and they have no ATM, I had no other option but to pay the tip with Venmo. It was an uncomfortable encounter, and needs to be addressed amongst the owner and staff, not with customers. This salon was ok, but I think I'll find somewhere else to get my nails done. read more

Pros: accessible location, plenty of parking, was in a chair within minutes for a basic pedicure. Cons: I asked to be placed with someone with experience and I didn't. I don't care about the fluff stuff like massage etc as long as the pedicure is done properly and it wasn't. The corners of my nails weren't even touched. I only got them trimmed, cuticles removed and buffed with nail file. A couple of my nails weren't cut straight across and looked lopsided (had to fix them when I got home). I couldn't communicate with the nail tech because she didn't understand me. Still in search for someone who will give me a decent pedicure; they're asking for more money but fail to provide the very basics. After two failed visits, I will not be returning to this place again. read more

I have been a consistent customer of this business for the last three years. I absolutely adore all of the nail artist. They get you in very quickly, even if they are fully booked. Everyone was so welcoming the moment I came in and they happily accommodated me as walk in! I tried the SNS dip powder in Holo 001 (this series is super sparkly!) and I'm so amazed by Tiffany's work! I would definitely make this place my go-to. I paid my bill with tip through Venmo, which was so convenient (although I think it helps them out more paying with cash). Today, I went there for a gel manicure for the first time because of the good reviews. However, I am not happy with my nails. The person working on my nails did not pay attention to what I wanted and was distracted by other people. I asked him for gel manicure with color but he did powder without asking me. He did not even do a manicure on my nails, just applied powder and finished without cleaning or adding any color. To make matters worse, he tried to charge me $45 for this poor service. I paid $33 for nothing. I am very dissatisfied and will never go back there. read more

My husband and I did a walk-in for a pedicure and a full set on a Saturday night around 5pm. They got us both in right away. Kate did my nails and she gave me exactly what I wanted. I have yet to find "my place" for naIls since moving from north county and I think this is it. They were quick but good quality. Everyone there was very friendly and talked to us the whole time. I'm due for a fill and they still look great. No discoloration, cracking or chipping. Can't wait to go back! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I have only been once. Just got a mani pedi from DAN and ANNA. They were wonderful! Believe it or not ever since I got rid of my acrylics I've had the hardest time finding someone that will do a good mani and take care of my natural nails. But Dan did amazing he was so nice and meticulous he kept asking if my nails were of my liking and they came out so cute. He was so careful as well which is something I always look out for because I want to keep my natural nails strong. Anna was the sweetest as well she did my pedicure and she was really thorough and gentle with my feet but did an amazing job! She also kept asking if I liked them. I mention this because it definitely shows they care about their clients. AND I WAS JUST A WALK IN! Definitely sticking with this place. 10/10 would recommend. read more

I love this little salon! The artists are sweet, and remember you when you come back. Jenny is my absolute favorite, she consistently produces quality work. Sophie and Yvonne are also excellent! There's a few artists that aren't consistent in their quality productions but the location is affordable, clean, and has a good atmosphere. It's nestled right in the middle of a lovely shopping center with a Target and a Starbucks in walking distance, and plenty of variety in food options nearby. It's the perfect spot for some self care! read more

Can I give zero stars I've been here a couple times before and it was all right, however when I recently went on September 17th it was the worst experience at a nail salon I've ever had, I got a full set. She cut me and I started bleeding my nails started throbbing a day afterwards,my cuticles got infected. And I had clear liquid around my cuticles and they are red, When I went back two days later they would not give me a refund or offered to fix the situation. read more

Thank you Star Nails for providing your service during these lockdowns. I had nowhere to get my nails done with this stupid lockdown, "getting your nails done during a pandemic is stupid" is idiotic. I appreciate the non mask mandate, I recommend this place if your fav nail salon isn't open. I gave Star Nails the benefit of the doubt the first time I got my nails done with them. But the second time further confirmed that this place is not good. I got dip nails and they looked okay at first, but one week in, they began to chip. One week and a half in, one entire nail fell off. I'm used to my dip nails lasting about a month. It was a huge shame. Furthermore, the rest of my nails have already lifted and the dip is peeling off from my actual nail. When I gave Star Nails a second chance, was for a gel pedicure. Again, it was fine at first until my gel completely fell off one of my toes by day 2. I'm used to my gel pedicures lasting over a month before chipping. Needless to say, the quality of their products is very terrible and cheap. The staff is great and kind. It's unfortunate that their products are this bad, I would've loved to make this place my spot. read more

I researched new salons in the area and this one had a really good rating, but I don't recommend this salon. I was a walk in, they sat me within a few minutes, one gal started my pedicure then 10 minutes later another gal took over, the place was so busy that people were walking in left and right however there were not enough people Working to take care of everyone. The manicurist barely had the brush back in the nail polish bottle before I was basically asked to get out of my seat and sit somewhere else to dry, she had to fix a few of my toes as I was waiting for them to dry twice.. I paid $40 for a deluxe pedicure and 3 days later the polish was chipping.. not impressed with this salon and how they handle their clients at all... onto the next local salon read more

The Star Nails Salon at Santee Trolley Square was able to get us in on a very busy day with practically no wait at all on a walk in basis. These are some of the best mani-pedis that we've had and highly recommend them to all. Lina had a great solution and did an amazing job matching it with an acrylic extension--you can't even tell in the photo. That said, if you're in a similar situation, I'd recommend asking for Gel-X instead of acrylic. The acrylic ended up feeling loose and didn't hold well, so I had to come back before leaving for a trip. To their credit, Sunny Nails squeezed me in the very next day. Another technician quickly assessed the issue, removed the acrylic, and replaced it with Gel-X (a full, strong nail--not just a tip). The result was flawless--she shaped it beautifully, and I was able to enjoy my trip with perfect nails. The only downside was the experience during the fix. The technician seemed frustrated, didn't respond to my thank you, and abruptly turned off the blue light and walked away without acknowledgment. It felt a bit uncomfortable--especially since I had already paid extra for the initial service and had to come back. Overall, they made it right, and I appreciate the quality of the final result--just wish the customer experience during the correction matched it.

While I can't say much about their work, it seems that scheduling appointments gets rather disorganized around the busy times/holidays. Pretty disappointing.

A good set should be thin, not bulky or puffy, with a smooth surface (no lumps or dips), a clean cuticle area (no product on the skin), and straight, even shaping. I'm not sure if it's the products being used, the application, or rushing, but for a mid-to-high price range, I expected better consistency and attention to detail. I was also told it was due to my natural nails, but I've had my nails done at other salons and never experienced these issues, so I don't believe that's the case. I really appreciate their willingness to fix the work, but I'd prefer a place that gets it right the first time without needing adjustments. The technician who worked on my feet was detail oriented which I appreciated. I had a pedicure which included soaking my feet, cuticle care, trim, and small massage. I opted out of nail polish. That was $30. My father received a simple nail trim and that was $20. The customer service is the reason my rating wasn't higher. My father is in his 80s. He sat waiting for someone to come over while I was immediately attended to. When his tech came over, not only did she seem to keep looking for her next opportunity but she quickly left when done. It made me nervous to see my father get in and out of the chain and even worse when he reached down to get his sox. I kept thinking he could easily have fallen. When I ask for them to hand him his sox as I was sitting next him getting my feet done, the tech was called back over and basically tossed the sox on to his tummy. The reason this stood out to me is that other places we have gone have been more helpful and seemingly respectful. Seeing other reviews, we may have just hit them at an off day or perhaps I was being too sensitive. For me the price and experience didn't quite match.
