I was running errands in Santee and i didnt have time to go to my normal nail shop so i stopped by this one as a walk in. I didnt have to wait long. All of the ladies were really nice, not only to me but all of their customers as well. The decor is nice, they have the cutest dolphin wall. When you walk in, you have to check in on an iPad and pick your color while you wait. They have a good amount of nail colors , not too little and not too much to where you get overwhelmed picking a color. There is plenty of parking since they are in a big shopping mall next to target. The prices are fair as well. And a big thing for me is making sure the tools come out of a sterile pouch which they did have here. The only reason i took away a star was because my nail tech was really rough. She was squeezing my fingers so hard they started to cramp and then when she was cutting my cuticles she made 2 of my fingers bleed then squirted alcohol on them and continued on and she was still very rough i was anxious the whole time. And you don't get a hand massage which is normally my favorite part :( . Other than that, they did a good job with my manicure. read more

I've come about 3 times so far and have had an amazing experience each time with different techs :) Here are some of my favorite things: 1. It's central location in Santee Town Square next to Party City 2. They take you in fast 3. They're VERY thorough and take their time to make sure it's done right 4. Everyone is very nice!! 5. First time customer and I am very pleased. I called about 40 min ahead of time to schedule an appointment and they had a spot for me. When I got there they were able to seat me right away in my pedicure chair. The woman who took care of me was very nice and really good. She had my feet feeling brand new. I am very happy with the service and atmosphere in Star Nails. I believe I will be back! read more

I frequent the Trolley Shops, so I decided to pop in here for a mani and pedi. I was able to be taken within an hour of when I called. The salon was pretty busy. They do have plexiglass in between each pedicure chair, but the chairs were next to each other. I wasn't uncomfortable, however. I wasn't really impressed by their nail polish selection. I feel that there could have been more regular nail polish colors. I had to settle on the color I chose. I wish there had been more pink and springy nail color options to choose from. The services I received were good, but what bothered me about this experience was come tip time. I seldom carry cash, and I asked my nail tech if I could tip using Venmo. She said she herself did not have Venmo, but that the salon owner did. Since I was already paying my bill using Venmo, I asked if I could leave a tip that way. She said I could, but that the salon owner doesn't give her the entire tip, but only a portion of it. Since I had no cash, and they have no ATM, I had no other option but to pay the tip with Venmo. It was an uncomfortable encounter, and needs to be addressed amongst the owner and staff, not with customers. This salon was ok, but I think I'll find somewhere else to get my nails done. read more

Went this morning around 10:30 and it was not too busy so we got in right away. They sadly did not have the color I wanted and I chose a back up which they did not have either. The lady then chose a color for me which I liked but I was shocked they didn't have them if they advertise them. She only worked on my feet for about 20 minutes and was done, which I thought was really fast. She was also rude when we asked questions and was very rough when buffing my nails. She barely filed them and it wasn't until I got home that I noticed they were jagged. I had to refile them when I got home so I wouldn't snag them. Overall, horrible experience and I will not be going back. read more

Pros: accessible location, plenty of parking, was in a chair within minutes for a basic pedicure. Cons: I asked to be placed with someone with experience and I didn't. I don't care about the fluff stuff like massage etc as long as the pedicure is done properly and it wasn't. The corners of my nails weren't even touched. I only got them trimmed, cuticles removed and buffed with nail file. A couple of my nails weren't cut straight across and looked lopsided (had to fix them when I got home). I couldn't communicate with the nail tech because she didn't understand me. Still in search for someone who will give me a decent pedicure; they're asking for more money but fail to provide the very basics. After two failed visits, I will not be returning to this place again. read more

My husband and I did a walk-in for a pedicure and a full set on a Saturday night around 5pm. They got us both in right away. Kate did my nails and she gave me exactly what I wanted. I have yet to find "my place" for naIls since moving from north county and I think this is it. They were quick but good quality. Everyone there was very friendly and talked to us the whole time. I'm due for a fill and they still look great. No discoloration, cracking or chipping. Can't wait to go back! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I have only been once. Everyone was so welcoming the moment I came in and they happily accommodated me as walk in! I tried the SNS dip powder in Holo 001 (this series is super sparkly!) and I'm so amazed by Tiffany's work! I would definitely make this place my go-to. I paid my bill with tip through Venmo, which was so convenient (although I think it helps them out more paying with cash). I love this little salon! The artists are sweet, and remember you when you come back. Jenny is my absolute favorite, she consistently produces quality work. Sophie and Yvonne are also excellent! There's a few artists that aren't consistent in their quality productions but the location is affordable, clean, and has a good atmosphere. It's nestled right in the middle of a lovely shopping center with a Target and a Starbucks in walking distance, and plenty of variety in food options nearby. It's the perfect spot for some self care! read more

Today, I went there for a gel manicure for the first time because of the good reviews. However, I am not happy with my nails. The person working on my nails did not pay attention to what I wanted and was distracted by other people. I asked him for gel manicure with color but he did powder without asking me. He did not even do a manicure on my nails, just applied powder and finished without cleaning or adding any color. To make matters worse, he tried to charge me $45 for this poor service. I paid $33 for nothing. I am very dissatisfied and will never go back there. read more

Thank you Star Nails for providing your service during these lockdowns. I had nowhere to get my nails done with this stupid lockdown, "getting your nails done during a pandemic is stupid" is idiotic. I appreciate the non mask mandate, I recommend this place if your fav nail salon isn't open. Just got a mani pedi from DAN and ANNA. They were wonderful! Believe it or not ever since I got rid of my acrylics I've had the hardest time finding someone that will do a good mani and take care of my natural nails. But Dan did amazing he was so nice and meticulous he kept asking if my nails were of my liking and they came out so cute. He was so careful as well which is something I always look out for because I want to keep my natural nails strong. Anna was the sweetest as well she did my pedicure and she was really thorough and gentle with my feet but did an amazing job! She also kept asking if I liked them. I mention this because it definitely shows they care about their clients. AND I WAS JUST A WALK IN! Definitely sticking with this place. 10/10 would recommend. read more

Can I give zero stars I've been here a couple times before and it was all right, however when I recently went on September 17th it was the worst experience at a nail salon I've ever had, I got a full set. She cut me and I started bleeding my nails started throbbing a day afterwards,my cuticles got infected. And I had clear liquid around my cuticles and they are red, When I went back two days later they would not give me a refund or offered to fix the situation. read more

The Star Nails Salon at Santee Trolley Square was able to get us in on a very busy day with practically no wait at all on a walk in basis. These are some of the best mani-pedis that we've had and highly recommend them to all. I gave Star Nails the benefit of the doubt the first time I got my nails done with them. But the second time further confirmed that this place is not good. I got dip nails and they looked okay at first, but one week in, they began to chip. One week and a half in, one entire nail fell off. I'm used to my dip nails lasting about a month. It was a huge shame. Furthermore, the rest of my nails have already lifted and the dip is peeling off from my actual nail. When I gave Star Nails a second chance, was for a gel pedicure. Again, it was fine at first until my gel completely fell off one of my toes by day 2. I'm used to my gel pedicures lasting over a month before chipping. Needless to say, the quality of their products is very terrible and cheap. The staff is great and kind. It's unfortunate that their products are this bad, I would've loved to make this place my spot. read more

I also receive compliments on my nails almost daily, including from complete strangers, which says a lot about the quality of Andy's work! He's very talented and pays attention to the little details, and I always leave happy with how my nails look. Overall, I've had mostly good experiences at this salon, but Andy is definitely my favorite nail tech. For reference I don't do any crazy manual labor outside of the house and I literally wear gloves for everything at home . The first time I came to LK I had no lifting at all for almost 2mo.(pic included) What's even worse is that I had high expectations of consistency since there were no problems with the 2 ppl who switched off on my purple set. I paid (after tips) around $177. I'm super disappointed because I was going to do my own nails but decided to go back since my first time was so great but this was the result. As for me and my house I will continue to save my money and do my nails at home with lasting results.

The salon as a whole is always clean, bright, and something fun to watch. Even after she left for college and then came back, her Mom continued to do my nails and continued the same fabulous work. I recently moved out of town and refuse to see someone new, and will be back when I'm visiting again.

After asking the lady to fix my toe because she took the toilet paper that in between my toes she scraped the nail polish right off and she fixed it by trying to add more paint and I asked her to take it off and redo it because it was starting to get super thick and this is what it looks . like the Polish wasn't even around my toes it's all on my toes the color is cuz she wanted to rush and put the clear coat on top of it this will be the last time I ever go to this location horrible job for $33 my kids could have pain in my toes better and not to mention she didn't even clean my cuticles and I paid extra for that as well as the dry skin and she didn't do that either so I paid money just to have to go home and fix everything and not to mention a customer of theirs ask for a specific color and what was put on her foot was another color and when she asked them to fix it they argued with her which is fine but then a whole nother person that works there started talking about her to another customer right in front of me and that is just horrible I will not be going back to this location read more

I would like to just say I am a manicurist and usually do not let ANYONE do my nails....but about a month ago my 8 year old daughter and I were having a girls night she asked if we could get a pedicure I said sure but I don't know where to go! As we went to Starbucks for a treat I noticed Star Nails I said we will try there! As we went in we were greeted and sat right down ..... Remember I don't let anyone do my nails! Well that's when I met Quyen she was awesome and the other gal whom took my daughter made her so happy! In fact today we had another girls night and what do you think she wanted to do ..... Get nails done! When we got there they were very busy I asked for Quyen and was treated as I had known them forever! Anyways to all you who think they just try to up sell....that's not the case! I love coming here. I have been seeing Cindy here for a very long time. Been through several owners and today I was so impressed ! New owners again but they were so friendly and accommodating. Sofie and Thomas and Cat were awesome. Cindy still is the best! She does my fill/mani and pedi. But Sofie greeted me at the door and welcomed me and introduced herself. Next was Thomas asking if I would like a water or anything else to drink. He asked me if there was anything I would suggest to make the same place more welcoming. They just took over on Monday and already had new stations and shelves and nail polish station. Awesome! Can't wait to see how it grows. read more

I've been going here for about 5 years now and I feel like it's time to leave a review. All the ladies (and men) in this salon are so wonderful and friendly. They remember my name and the services I typically get. I've recently started getting Gel Dip some because I was healing my nails for 7+ years of acrylics and I'm hooked Sophie does myy hands and Trish is a goddess when it comes to foot massages. I literally just want to have a pedicure every week so she can rub my feet. Highly recommend coming here for your hand and feet pampering. The young guy with pierce ears was very rude and physically abusive!. If I didn't have my hands turned exactly the way he wanted them he would hit my hand and push it away! He had NO patience!! Cindy always takes care of my nails and she always makes time for me to come in even on short notice. This was a new set as a coffin shape and a cuticle cut. I come in every 2 weeks for a fill and the girls never disappoint. I also had a pedicure which they did at the same time so that I could get in and out within the hour. read more

All they care about is your money & their tips, and on top of that, the nails don't even last. Im not even joking, I got them done yesterday and two nails already came off. This is unbelievable and such a waste of money. You can get such better service and nails at another place, I do not recommend this nail salon. read more

Sophie did an amazing job both shaping my acrylics and being patient when finding the colors. The salon had a variety of colors to choose from, so I found the perfect ones to use in my set. I have had Diem & Lisa two or three times, and they are great and do an awesome job. I like that they have you check your nails after doing the first one to make sure you like that as sometimes, I'm reading my book and not always paying attention, so at other nail salons, by the time I look up, they are almost done, so I feel bad about speaking up. I love to use Dazzle Dry polishes because they are non-toxic, last as long as gel without needing a UV to cure, and come off with regular nail polish unlike gel. However, almost no salons carry the polishes, and in order for them to work, you have to use all the right polishes in the correct order, so I have always been reluctant to bring them to a salon to use. I brought my Dazzle Dry system, and Diem used it perfectly, and it turned out great! I'm not sure why there are some negative reviews here because I have been many times and really like it! I would definitely recommend it!
