    French Toast
    Chad B.

Having traveled to Oregon, Ohio for a speaking engagement, we were invited out for lunch afterwords. The group that invited us were the from older generation which was well represented at the Diner. I can see why they love it, the food was good and the portions were enough for two. My biggest problem with the restaurant was the theme. It was like a want to be Hooters, for no reason. Nobody their was looking at the girls in their mini skirts, they were there for the food. I am not a prude but it just felt uncomfortable. Understand, I am biased anytime I walk into a restaurant and see only women in the front and only men in the back... so know that I noticed this immediately. The worst part about it was how cheap the uniforms they had to wear were. I just felt bad for the workers... The food was good. I had a veggie omelette, it was nice to see a French omelette on my plate, and my wife had the french toast. The table next to us had Onion Rings and they looked hand battered. The people with us had Banana Cream pancakes and they enjoyed them. Overall, any place that makes me feel uncomfortable (let me be clear, not in a prudish way but in an equality way) is not worth going to. If my wife and I were by ourselves, we probably would not have stayed. I know the towns people love this place so I can not argue with that. If we are invited again, we will just say we have to head home.

Not only did I wait 45 minutes for my incorrect order the waitress was VERY RUDE & adamant that this was my order, so I left with trusting her without looking in My bag ! I had to drive back up there & Get my right order to return home to find I had a brick of " Cheesy potatoes "

MOLDY TOAST - WHICH APPARENTLY IS COMMON HERE! NASTY

If you're looking for a taste of a New York delicatessen in the state of Ohio, look no further…read morebecause "Big Apple Deli" will definitely have you covered. Located just outside of Toledo in the neighboring community of Oregon, this place has been dishing out delicious New York-styled sandwiches dating back to 2011. The location itself is located directly off of Woodville Rd. and just north of Oakdale Ave. As of 2023, they are opened for business Tuesday through Saturday from 8am-7pm while being closed on Sunday and Monday. I ended up coming here during the afternoon of Wednesday 9/13/2023 at around 3:30pm as I had not yet eaten lunch and needed something to fuel me the rest of the afternoon. The exterior offers ample parking throughout while the large sign is easily identifiable from the street. The main entrance also has the business name in very large letters which gives their business that 'wow' factor even before entering. As far as the interior layout, it is well laid-out and spacious with seating for about 25 guests. And since this place is named after New York City, they have a ton of memorabilia on everything associate with the Big Apple. This includes representing the NY Mets, NY Yankees, & NY Giants sports teams, a picture of the Brooklyn Bridge, a Subway stop at Times Square, signs of many New York streets, and much more. All of their menu items are even named after landmarks and sports teams in New York City; "Broadway", "Central Park", "Rangers", etc. I ended up going with a small specialty sub (for $5.99) of their "Madison Square" combo. This included ham, pastrami, salami, provolone cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, peppers, Italian dressing, mustard, and creamy mayonnaise on a soft New York-styled roll. I also opted for a bag of chips which were Ohio's own "Ballreich's" sour cream & onion flavored and a 20 oz. size of Royal Crown cola. Total price was a very reasonable $10 for everything. I also wanted to point out that in addition to their yummy sandwiches, they also have a huge variety of soups, salads, potato salads, snack trays, and even a ton of desserts. Once my sandwich was ready, I took a bite into pure heaven. The bread was one of the freshest and softest rolls I've even bit into. They also did not skimp on the meat while this place can easily rival any New York deli. The service here was also top notch as the staff here go above and beyond for their customers. When you factor in the service, food quality, location, experience and affordable prices, "Big Apple Deli" is easily a 5-star Yelp experience.

The atmosphere is beautiful. Somewhere between cozy and classy for a wonderful, calm dining experience. Dining in Roi Et feels like coming home. Service always given with a smile, and the staff is incredibly friendly. My waitress was attentive and even helpful with recommendations as I myself am a little bit of an adventurous eater. Food comes out piping hot and prompt to order. The menu is thoughtfully arranged, digestible, and gives the customer a good grasp of what they're getting. I have had the Kar Pao Beef at medium heat (brave for me. Painful, but delicious!) Fried rice, Shrimp puffs (they're my my favorite appetizer. Delicious and with an incredibly satisfying crunch tucked into a little perfect triangle package. SO GOOD!!) The rice is always perfectly cooked. A little bit sticky and fluffy at the same time. Its fantastic. I want to know their secret. This visit I had the Massaman Curry. Mostly sweet profile with the very very slightest hint of spice at the back end. Plenty of broth with chunky veggies, perfectly cooked through and still firm to tooth in a way I find very pleasant! I dug in too quickly to get a good picture. Maybe next time! I also tried the Thai iced tea for the first time. An absolute hit. Portion sizes are generous. You absolutely get what you pay for. My only complaint is that I cant eat more in one sitting. Hands down one of my favorite places to go for a taste of southeast Asia.

I watch people coming and going with a lot of mobile orders. Everything coming out looked good.

Looking for Japanese fried chicken (Karaage) in Downtown Toledo at 11:30 pm? THIS is where you'll find it. And it's good. Japanese fried chicken is a lot like American fried chicken, but the batter is a little different. The dipping sauces are similar to American sauces, but, they are a little different. Different is good. You can get said chicken in the form of wings, chunks, 1/2 a bird, or, in a donburi bowl. The menu also has some American (fries, coleslaw) and Asian (kimchi, edamame) sides. Mochi for dessert? You bet. Drinks? Pop, beer, etc, and sake! Service? The service was very friendly, fast, and accurate. Tommy and Sam run the place when the Main Man is elsewhere. They do a great job overseeing the service and the cooking. The atmosphere is similar to Kengo's other places on the same street. Intimate with bare brick walls. Seating is designed more for quick service and higher throughput. There are a few tables, but most people sit at one of two bars. Great music (Beastie boys and Tupac playing overhead, but not too loud). 4 stars for the food, and one more for being open late! 5 stars!
