Sometimes i deliberate between a 3 or 4 star review. Really wish yelp would have a .5 option. My recent visit to the Executive Diner would probably rate a 3 5, but it will get a 4* today. Eggs and steak were average. Skipped the toast. The restaurant was average. Nothing special of note. But the service was fast, the coffee came immediately and the server was exceptional. Hence, we'll go with 4* . I won't remember the steak and eggs. They were ok. I will remember the service and top-notch coffee effort. read more

After 4 visits I'm done. This and its sister restaurant have been a staple in Toledo for a crazy amount of years. No idea why. Twice now I have walked into dirty restaurant with meat and toast under the tables and yep they sat us right there. Closes at 3 on Sundays but don't allow anyone in after 230. All you hear is staff hollering how they are not letting in anyone else in. No one asks if things are OK. Every time they are out of. . biscuits this last time. One of their signature dishes is the hangover which is made of guess what ? Biscuits. No longer have mimosas for brunch. The juices are all that nasty concentrate. No real juice The sausage tastes funny and bacon is overcooked. Tastes like sawdust. The one star is for home fries. They are decent. In these Covid times unclean places are not acceptable. This is one of our stops after church on Sunday for breakfast. Sundays Executive is always busy so there may be a short wait. Our waitress was attentive in taking our orders and bringing our drinks. After a short wait our food was served hot and correctly. The potions and pricing I feel are more than fare and there were no complaints on how the food tasted. UPDATE: It's been 7 years since I first patronized Executive Diner in West Toledo. Thankfully nothing has changed...although that may sound a little boring, in the diner biz, that's almost always a good thing. Additionally, although I have nothing against the Sylvania location, this location, in the Deveaux neighborhood, has a more authentic feel. Still FIVE STARS! OLD REVIEW: Is this the perfect diner? Great food? Check. Super fast service? Check. Low prices? Check. Sassy-ass waitresses? Check!! Although ED has all the standard breakfast items, the unique things on this menu are the Mexican breakfast selections. I've tried most of these and they are exceptional. The "divorced eggs," with their homemade verde and red sauces, are really fantastic. The Greek omelet was not THE best in the city, but it certainly didn't come out "in a puddle of water," either. The waffle? Meh. Want an (excellent) added bonus? They have alcohol. There's nothing like a Bloody Mary, an Irish coffee, or even a screwdriver to cap off a great weekend brunch! We used to go to the Executive diner in Sylvania. Now we drive across town. The fried potatoes are fantastic. I have never had anything bad on the menu. I ordered the VIP breakfast and the marble rye bread is tasty. The service is always fabulous. There may be a wait but it is worth it. read more

My wife and I had breakfast this morning at the Executive Diner. Everything was very good to excellent. My poached eggs were perfect, just like the ones my mother used to make me. The chef cooked my sausage close to being burnt, just exactly the way I ordered it. Typically it's hard to get a chef to cook them to that degree of doneness. Our waitress was very nice, attentive, and really quick. I really liked the way all of the wait staff worked as a team; when our food was ready and our waitress was busy another waitress brought it out and voila, no waiting, and we got our goods nice and hot. Amazing staff and great breakfast. My husband and I shared the divorced eggs and a bowl of fresh fruit. The eggs were so delicious and both the verde and red salsas were equally wonderful. Great spot for breakfast! The executive has a extensive breakfast menu which makes it tough to decide. If everything on the menu is as good as the country scramble, you can't go wrong. The scramble for included homefries, eggs, ham, bacon, sausage, cheddar cheese and sausage gravy. An extremely healthy start to my morning... The scramble was loaded with meat. Grabbed breakfast at Executive Diner after finding it on Yelp. My boyfriend and I split the biscuits and gravy as an appetizer and thought they were good. They were a little buttery, not too flavorful and not too bland. I think we got three bottom halves of the biscuits because they were pretty thin compared to the one fluffier piece. I got the Tex-Mex burrito for my meal and thought it was good, too. The meat was thinly sliced beef like a philly steak sandwich and the salsa was a nice compliment. I also got a side of bacon and it was cooked just right. My boyfriend got the south of the border skillet with Swiss cheese instead of cheddar. He thought the chicken. was good quality and the flavor was nice. We both thought the portions were large for the price, and would recommend trying this spot if you are looking for great value and good food. read more

Same owners as El Camino next door. Third shift loves this diner because you can have alcohol with your eggs! Waitresses come to know you and greet you as you walk in the door. Huge portions, open kitchen to see your food prepared. Delicious! read more

Excellent breakfast menu - loads of interesting things to choose from. I ordered the Mexican omelette with chorizo, and it was as good as it gets. It arrived with a dollop of sour cream on a topping of piquant salsa verde...delicious! The home fries were awesome. I'm not sure what seasoning was used on them, but they were excellent! - not greasy at all like you might find at other diners. My coffee cup was kept full, and the waitress was very cool and friendly - the service was fantastic! This has got to be one of, if not the best breakfast/lunch diners in the Toledo area. Even though the restaurant occupies an old Friendly's, you wouldn't know it. The inside has been completely redone and it looks great. Came here because of the reviews and was not disappointed. My friend and I both got the Mexican burrito and could have split it, it was so big. I usually stop in about once a week and never had bad service or food. The price is good my bill is usually about 8 and fourteen for breakfast or lunch with drink. This morning walked in and only one waitress and ten tables. The waitress was rushed but kept to together (two tables were families +6) and got the orders. I had to kill some time while waiting for a friend to have surgery up the street. This place is fantastic. Amazingly friendly staff and great food. It was busy, but there was always a couple tables available so they told me I could stay as long as I wanted since I mentioned why I was in town. I go to church in the same plaza. I had never noticed this restaurant. My sister said she was hungry. I was as well. I had just left church going to her house. When she said she was going to Executive Diner. I said "I'm coming!" We did. I 'm not disappoint everything was delicious, the service was spectacular. Great food, terrible service. Marissa was our server and was very rude. I asked for more syrup she didn't make eye contact, and said 'sure' no smile. Monotone. I said thank you for bringing me the syrup 3 TIMES and was never even looked at or acknowledged. She came to our table twice and when another person I was with asked a question about the menu she was very rude and basically was tired of hearing what she had to say. This is not the customer service a person tipping you and here to help you make money should be treated. I will not come back unless I have a different server. Very rude. Don't recommend. read more

Strolled in here with some friends around 1pm on Saturday. I had the grilled cheese. It was super cheesy and delicious. Perfect Diner Grilled Cheese. Service was really wonderful.
