My dad and I were visiting Toledo and tried Green Lantern because it looked cool and love the history. My dad had corned beef hash and a half order of sausage biscuits and gravy and they were both good. Coffee is included in the price of breakfast but my dad wasn't impressed. I ordered the breakfast burrito and it did not hit the spot. It felt like every component of the dish was fully cooked individually and then someone stuffed a massive amount of food in a tortilla and called it a burrito. There was nothing creamy, soft, or saucy to bring it together, nor could I pick it up. I ended up just opening the tortilla and eating some of the food out of it. They were also out of sour cream so brought me a side of cream cheese instead. The server was very friendly and personable, and the hamburgers and shakes look incredible so I'll come back to try them. read more

This was our first time visiting Green Lantern and it was wonderful. I ordered a "half and half" burger with one ground beef patty and a sausage patty. It tasted really good and was unlike anything I've had before. The patties were thick and the whole thing was very filling. My partner ordered a double cheese burger and added a side of onion rings. The rings were awesome and crunchy. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. The other staff were friendly as well. Our food came out at a reasonable time considering they were a little busy during our visit. We will definitely return to try out their breakfast selections. read more

Fact 1: Green Lantern has been in business for almost 100 years. Fact 2: I've been eating here for more DECADES than I care to remember. Fact 3: If GL wasn't fantastic, neither fact 1, or fact 2, would be true. Here's the dealio: The. Food. Is. Excellent. Yes, it's simple diner food, but it's always done right. From the omelets and breakfast sandwiches, to the milkshakes and homemade soups/chili, to the HANDY ANDY (best double cheeseburger in SoTol if not the entire city...check out the pictures). I've never had anything that wasn't delish. GL has been under new ownership for about 3 years, and the menu has changed a little, and the prices (like the prices everywhere else) have gone up. But what hasn't changed is the quality of the food. Also, even though the prices are higher, the value relative to other restaurants, hasn't changed...not one iota. The service is always fast and, for me, has always been friendly. The atmosphere? Well, let's just say it fits nicely into the South Side. Went for lunch a few weeks ago. The place is a blast! Loud music, conversation, blue collar folk and office folk too. Breakfast, lunch, coffee, whatever you want. This place really moves at lunch time. It's small and crowded, but the food is good, the waitress is always fun. The short order cook is amazingly organized and great to watch. Great little hole in the wall!! Been around forever and everyone needs to stop by and get some breakfast or lunch. It's not going to disappoint. I had the eggs and bacon. Pretty basic but made perfectly. Bacon was crispy but still chewy. How is that possible?!? Also split the Gooey burger. If you come to the green lantern put this on your bucket list. It's basic but perfect. You are gonna love it. My mom got the "Mo Swiss" burger and chili. Not gonna lie. The burger was LOADED!! The chili was GREAT!! All the food was top notch. Just what you'd expect from a great diner. I'd have given 5 stars but the neighborhood, parking lot and general area is a bit off putting. Get past that and you are gonna love the fast, friendly staff and the historical pics on the walls. Overall I am coming back to this place. What on earth is wrong with me? This place opened up in 1927, has been owned and operated by the same family the entire time, and it took me until today to check it out? Seriously? Am I insane? I must be, because the Green Lantern kills it when it comes to classic american cuisine. And yes, I'm using the word cuisine to refer to onion rings and sausage burgers. For lunch today, I had the "double goopie" which ... well... isn't the most appetizing name for a sandwich. But good lord was it tasty. I got an egg added to the top, which our server said was a common addition. It had no condiments to distract you from the flavor of sausage, american cheese and the crispy buttered and grilled hamburger bun. Honestly, the egg was an unnecessary distraction and I won't get it next time. Everyone at the table loved the chili cheese fries I ordered, and my wife's onion rings were out of control. Crispy, greasy and filled with the taste of sweet scalding hot onion. My friend tried the vanilla shake, even though one of the customers that was walking out while we ordered insisted she go with chocolate. After one sip she exclaimed "this tastes like I'm eating a fucking fluffy cloud." I would declare you can't get more bang for your buck in the area. The Green Lantern did NOT disappoint. Located right off of highway 75 near Toledo, Ohio is a perfect spot to get some amazing breakfast while traveling. I had the Mo's omelette deluxe with peppers, bacon, cheese and HASHBROWNS. Yes, Hashbrowns inside the omelette. The thing was HUGE and delicious!! One of the best omelettes I have ever had. My husband had bacon and cheese omelette with a side hash browns, which he gives 2 thumbs up. This place also has great customer service. Super friendly staff! For those who are traveling with trailers or RVs. This place has a big lot to park in. Easy in and out. So, if you are around this area, check it out. You will not regret it!! read more

After overindulging at a nearby Christmas party last evening, we were searching for some great diner-style breakfast food. Yelp steered us to the Green Lantern, and it fired on all cylinders. I ordered a basic cheese omelette and homemade crispy hash browns. My husband got the biscuits and gravy (also homemade) with a side of eggs and sausage. The biscuits were light, probably their own recipe, and the gravy was non-traditional. It had a ham sort of flavor. The meat in the patty sausage was well spiced and hand formed, probably from an old school meat market. To top it off, the prices are reasonable and the portions are large.
