South of the Border Skillet

Service was spot on. And the place was spotless!! I had the South of the Border Skillet. Very healthy portion. The jalapeño cheese sauce had a perfect kick for a breakfast item. The coffee was also smooth. No bitterness. Very fair competitive pricing. I only wish they had some gluten free options like toast or pancakes!

Breakfast and lunch place.

Ordered a granola Sunday but for whatever reason it was made with no granola. Why bother getting it if didn't have the best part which is the granola. This is like the 3rd time this has happened. So we paid $8 for a bit of yogurt and some fruit.

Stopped here again for lunch today after enjoying our brunch last weekend. I got the junior burger which was very tasty. Their portions are always plentiful. Their orange juice is so good as well :)

RobJ and myself first time here. We both agreed this is way above average food experience. Large portions of goodness. My biscuits are obviously handmade. Great work from kitchen of my request for burnt hashbrowns. Eggs were perfect over-easy, so I could stir them in to my hashbrown mix of jalapeños and onions. Will absolutely return for more.

nice place, contemporary decor ... classic diner menu

The Star Dinner is a clean, well run contemporary diner set in the center stage in a fairly new strip mall. the food was quite good. an excellent omelette, hash browns all the way (highly recommended), a very good omelette, huge pieces of toast. i was eating alone (as usual, have you heard about the lonesome loser?) and it seemed to me that my order dropped to the bottom of the list, and the groups, even couples were served ahead of me... probably to keep things moving. beyond that my only complaint was i was served too much food. the omelette was as big as a small house cat, the grits came in a massive rice bowl, the hash browns sat like a small nation state on my plate. it was clearly enough for 3 people. most Americans would love this. Take home a doggie bag, etc. but i was traveling through, and it felt like the amount of food was meant to justify the fairly high cost. my breakfast was 16.95. i would have rather paid 10 bucks and left wanting more. Maybe i over ordered. Maybe that's just me. Eat up. Share a plate. The food is worth it.m

Star Diner was my breakfast destination before heading to Toledo Express Airport and flying home. I ordered the sausage gravy and biscuits, plus a scramble with salmon, spinach, and mushrooms. I was not impressed with the salmon. I would not order that again. The sausage gravy was pretty good, but the biscuits were to "bready" - I would have preferred a "flaky" biscuit. Service was excellent. #StarDiner

So much food for the price. The waitstaff was friendly and fast. The restaurant is small but comfortable and clean.

All of the service staff has changed, and their waitresses are no longer friendly or inviting. Our recent visit (in a long time) resulted us having a waitress who was just completely clueless. She asked for our drink orders upon sitting, she came back with one persons drink, and the others were sitting there for at least 15 minutes without their drink. When she finally came back, she forgot the order (that she wrote down) and had to retrieve the remaining drinks. She then took our order, but was just really rude. When asking about a menu item she laughed in our faces and talked down to us about it (we wanted to make sure that the eggs were actually poached for the eggs Benedict). About 10-20 minutes later, she walked back to the table, clearly flustered, and asked "okay, what do you guys want to order?" To which we replied that she had already taken our order. She looked blankly at our table, and said "who, me? Or someone else?" It was genuinely concerning. At this point, we've been at the diner for about 30 minutes, finally have drinks, but no food. When she finally returns with a tray full of food, the order is correct, but, lo and behold, the eggs on BOTH Benedict's are essentially hard boiled, and to top it off, there were bits of egg shells throughout the dishes. Overall, our experience was so much less than desirable, and I can honestly say that we will not be returning. Bring back the old City Limits diner, get rid of the really bad waitstaff, and improve the kitchen practices.

We decided on going to Speed Trap Diner in Woodville (my first time). If you are like me, and have never been to this establishment before and you are into eclectic scenery, you need to stop in at this place! It has plenty to keep your eyes busy all the while you are there. The eclectic decor is similar to another one of my faves, Tackle Box II located in Fremont. I was like a kid in a candy shop with a pocket full of money snapping pics (as you can see in this review). We ordered the Trailmarker Omelette (breakfast served all day) with hash browns & rye toast, and the Chicken Parmesan Sandwich. Trailmarker Omelette was stuffed full of corned beef hash with onions and peppers with a light coating of melted cheese (yum). The hashbrowns were done to perfection and the lightly buttered rye toast was almost like Texas Toast - nice and thick and tasted so, so good (especially with strawberry preserves or honey)! The Chicken Parmesan sandwich presentation wasn't nearly as much of a statement as the Trailmarker Omelette, but still just as tasty. Needless to say - true Diner food done right. The server was very pleasant, attentive, and quite knowledgeable of the menu offerings as well as the eclectic decor. We will definitely be back for another visit to Speed Trap Diner in the future!!!

This truly a wonderful experience for all ages and varying tastes. A tremendous and welcome change we've come to endure from other dining experiences. Here the customer is THE primary focus from the moment you walk in til you walk out the door - BRAVO!! The food, had the Mayberry Mega where you pick your 6 omelette ingredients. Normally a crap shoot in most diners but here it was a home run. The ham and sausage were nice size chunks, juicy, and full of flavor. Spinach, onions, and tomatoes were fresh and perfect sizes and good quantities for the dish. That leaves the cheese my one "ding" would have preferred shredded cheese vs sliced cheese because of flavor and texture - but it didn't take away from a wonderfully prepared omelette made and severed with genuine care. Potatoes were frozen BUT they were prepared exceptionally well for dinner dare they were soft and cooked with a nice crisp. It was a superb surprise and a very welcome one. The coffee was fresh and hot and the standard "acidic" coffees you'd find in most diners anywhere, but overall inviting enough to have a few cups for a discerning coffee "snob" like me. Place was PACKED so all tables and booth were full, but they have a nice counter service with plenty of seating and space to move and eat and be very comfortable for your meal. What's fascinating is the incredible teamwork and collective desire to ensure your time, experience, and meal are spent enjoying your company and food not staring at your watch wondering about time. The entire restaurant was seated, served, and cleared with clean tables within the time I had to get and consume my own breakfast. So if you see a packed house on your arrival and don't desire that counter seat fear not - in this home environment your wait will be short and your day will lose no valuable time - well worth some minimal patience - you'll be glad you did. Your greeted as soon as you walk in by one or more of the extremely hardworking waitresses with a smile - your also sent off with a "Thank you. have a Good Day" by one more waitresses as you leave - both excellent touch of service class enhancing customer experience. I've never seen a more well-run diner or any restaurant from the waitresses to the cooks to the dishwashers the teamwork, attention to details, customer satisfaction, and to the incredible cleanliness of the restaurant despite the constant flow of customers - I've never seen a restaurant so clean and kept so clean the out the day. So what are you waiting for come to Mayberry where a warm greeting, clean home, exceptional food are calling YOUR name today...I'm returning perhaps I'll see you there....Bon Appetite!!

The egg white veggie wrap was nicely portioned without being over the top; a little mustard and hot sauce was required to complete the profile, but that's fine. The veggie omelette was good, with a big portion of hash browns and a decent quantity of veggies in the omelette. Hot sauce and mustard were also our friend here, but that works for me. The staff were very friendly and attentive, even beyond what we would have expected. All told, this was an excellent experience if you're looking for a fast paced diner breakfast.
