Double Grilled Cheese Monsterburger with Onion Rings

The food was really good. The traditional American food suited the environment well. This diner has a retro feel featuring many vintage clocks and airbrush wall art. The service was great as well. The only thing that was off was the onion rings. Didn't have much of an onion. I recommend the tots! Will be coming back.

Yes we eat out a lot and this place is really good. First timers! Our waitress was a cute blonde and the food realllly delish. We just stopped in on a fluke headed to the chiropractor( killing time). Bf ordered the Hawaiian omelete. A pineapple in every bite! He loved it. And my taster bite was great! Love their home fries with grilled onions. We showed up at 8:30-9 and then after 9 this place is FULL!! Lots of workers having a quick breakfast before work. But we noticed all young good looking girls in here as waitresses hehe. I chose the ham n chz omelete and yummy good. Ham in every bite as well. Good flavors and the coffee never empty! I think we will try to come back if we r passing thru. Plenty BT parking around back for our big truck too.

Painted on the door of the men's room. Mike wuz here? Damned right he wuz, and he enjoyed his food.

So...you say that you want food that doesn't suck, and you only have 1/2 hour for lunch or breakfast? This is where you come. So far, I've never had a bad meal at the Monroe Street Diner. MSD has great hours. If you work for a living and aren't allowed to mosey your ass in at 9 am, know that MSD opens at 0600. Eat here and get to work by 7...easily. Work nights? Come in after work. The menu is reasonably extensive and reasonably creative, for a diner. The stars of the show, IMHFO, are the burgers. Hand pattied and cooked (correctly, every time) to order, they're great. Check out some of the pix for some ideas. Check out the daily specials, too. My favorite breakfast option is the BPOP...the Big Plate Of Protein...that is, the omelette. There's an omelette for every taste. I like the Philly cheese steak omelette. Sides? Get the potatoes, or skip them and get tomato slices. Get the toast, or skip it and ask for a side of cottage cheese. MSD is flexible, and the friendly waitresses are very accommodating. I'd call the atmosphere "retro inspired," rather than authentically retro. In terms of cleanliness, I wouldn't eat off of the bathroom floor, but the joint is clean...or at least it doesn't feel dirty. MSD is located in a building that originally housed a Mister Donut; it was built in the 50s or 60s...the owner should remove the front awning and show off that beautiful Mid-century Modern architecture...there's your authentic retro! In short, Monroe Street Diner isn't the most elegant eatery in this town, but I've never walked away hungry or dissatisfied.

Due to their prime location, the Monroe St Diner draws from all walks of life and offers some great people watching opportunities. Hung-over? Try the Monroe Street Omelette, and make sure to get "everything" on your homefries. Today it included peppers, onions and brown gravy. Awesome.

The menu has a wide range of options to choose from We got the ham & greyere omelette and added spinach which was one of the best omelettes I've had. The combo was a perfect mix of cheese with the saltiness and flavor of the ham. We also got the avocado toast with the basted egg which was very fresh. They used some very fresh avocados, it seems they used the whole avocado cause we surely weren't lacking. The biscuits and gravy were extremely good. The biscuits had a slight crunch and were freshly made. The turkey gravy was flavorful and light The drinks are premade but also very well done. Slightly on the sweeter side but still well done The restaurant was packed with a 15-20 min wait but there's a community table that we sat at and we were seated immediately, fun hack for couples. Only one other person sat at the table with us so it was like we had to it ourselves, though we wouldn't mind chatting to random strangers. We love this place and will be back

I was told they don't take reservations but that we could sign in to the waitlist. When we got in there was nobody under our group's name.. not sure if we didn't do it right but was a little confused by that. Either way, we were able to get a table right away, a nice booth in the back at that. It's kid friendly too which is always a plus. There is so much deliciousness on the menu it's great! There is something for everyone and all of it tastes great. I will say the chickichanga I had was a bit spicy but still really good. Also, you have to try the different drinks they have! I got the kale tonic and caramel crunch coffee, both AMAZING! Although if you're lactose intolerant I'd ask for dairy free milk and if you're not into sweet stuff this is probably not for you. I was a little disappointed in the waitress. She was super kind and personable but I felt like she didn't ask enough questions, like when I asked for the coffee she never asked what milk I wanted (I should've clarified but still). I also felt like she didn't show herself enough. It wasn't terribly busy so I felt she could've done better. Otherwise, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

When I came in there was no one at the front entrance so I proceeded to the please seat me sign. I literally stood there longer than it took my food to come out. There were maybe 10 tables. Still work to be done here. Smaller than the old location with tables and booths all within view as you stand there. I was ready to order by the time the server made it to my table to take my drink order and I'm one to waffle over my orde for a bit. Friendly server and efficient once she got started. But it was, to me, kind of bland, as were the tomatoes and even the onion. Not bad, but when mild mayonnaise dominates the sandwich, it ain't my thing. But I'm a hot sauce enjoyer. To each their own. The fries were a bit better, lightly crisp flour-covered things, but again: kind of unexciting without ketchup. They were fine. The store's decor was mostly mom-n-pop nice, attractive and probably comfortable (I did takeout). The carpet was worn and maybe a bit grimy. I'm thinking that's because of the breakfast and lunch crowd the restaurant attracts, many of whom have been working hard at jobs that get their shoes dirty. No points off for that. Service was friendly and efficient. Prices were good, and the portion they served me was just right for a hungry driver. Parking was easy and the store was easy to find and get to. Overall: fine. Not for me, but I can see why it gets four stars overall.

The waitresses did not even bat an eyelid. They were very polite and were busy doing their work. They were helping seat people as well as checking out people who had just eaten. We only waited about 15 - 20 mins. In the meantime, we chatted with the locals, who told us how often they came here just to eat the pies. When we got seated, the first thing we ordered and got started on were the AMAZING pies (chocolate PB for me and custard for my husband). Oh my God, they were out of the world yummy!
