Ok this place is so hit or miss especially take out. As you see I started out 5 stars within 4 months it's a 1 star. Server told me the special was French toast, 3 meat and 2 eggs for $10 so I order it. When it came out all I got is some soagy ass toast and some soagy bacon. When I asked about it she said that's not a special anymore and gave me this. I said that's not what you sold me and I didn't want this and they said I could have a store credit. What ????? As noted in my previous review from a decade ago, the people-watching is fantastic. But surprisingly, the food and service is pretty good too! Summit Diner is almost a time capsule, representing a rough around-the-edges Toledo that's quickly gentrifying with Developments like Tolhouse and Toledo Spirits to the north, Ostrich Towne directly south, and across the street with the ongoing Metroparks expansion into downtown... there is a lot of action over here. The portions are great, the quality is genuine home cooking, and the prices are beyond reasonable. Yes, someday they may be forced to gentrify themselves... Still, I hope Toledo respects the need for this type of institution to remain, supporting both the working-class locals and those just looking for a delicious meal, and not super concerned about the atmosphere and the $-surcharge that often comes with it. read more

Called in a pick up order for a work lunch. Six lunches to be exact. Service was fine. Food however, is a different story. I probably wouldn't pick this place again to place an order. We ordered a TURKEY Ruben on wheat. With an extra side of thousand island on the side. It was on wheat but cornbeef is not turkey. How disappointing. Also, ordered stuffed pepper soup. That got bad reviews here also. They said it tasted like someone used too much liquid smoke. Also, didn't get the side of thousand dressing for the not so turkey Ruben. Also, went in at noon to pick up the order and there was only one table occupied. At noon??? This should of been a clue.​ read more

Hotter than outside on a 90 degree day. Fries were freezer burnt and had no doubt way past their use by date. If you're too cheap to run the AC or discard old food and buy fresh, maybe get into a different business. The staff, on the other hand, we're friendly and attentive. Food got to us fast. Stopped in after voting today. Ordered omelets. Comes with home fries. They tasted like the oil they were cooked in turned rancid. Got home and have been vomiting ever since. I only took a few bites of the potatoes. I informed the waitress about the potatoes.. she said she would let the cook know. Not sure if she did or not. No offer to reduce the check or make it right. Hot roast beef sandwich is made with real beef shredded, flavorful, Lg. portions. One of the best in Toledo and S.E.MI. area hands down for hot roast beef sandwich. Food was good. Just down the road from our hotel. Our server was clearly new to waiting tables. She was surprised that we hadn't already memorized the menu when she came back. Given that she messed up our orders, I'm surprised she was throwing stones in her glass house.... Would I go back? Yeah, but that would also require me to return to Toledo. The Summit Diner may not get quite enough reviews, but I'd be remiss if I didn't say something about it. Let's begin this review with the exceptional service. You seat yourself when you arrive and a waitress is greeting you at the table in record time! Menus are conveniently located at each table for quick review and decision making on the meal of your choice. The one thing my Dad and I love the most is breakfast isn't limited to just the morning. As it relates to the breakfast, "more than enough" is served, and if you came with a mediocre appetite be sure to request a take-home container. The food is well prepared and extremely tasty! Coffee is also good, and if you don't see "Equal" on the table, don't hesitate to ask because they do have it and will share with you. My Dad had a breakfast meal called "the Hangover" and it will surely satisfy, even if you don't have a hangover, per se. I've tried a couple different omelettes and have been satisfied with both the Gyro, as well as the Mushroom, and more than plenty to take home to share with my two dogs! read more

I've been here twice now. The food is decent, prices are decent, and I like the very informal low-key ambience. That being said, there are better places near my workplace downtown, so I don't think this one will quite make it onto my lunch rotation. The most recent time I was there, a few days ago, the server was hard-working but unobservant. She kept interrupting our conversation at really inconvenient times to make inessential chit-chat. That's better than a server who ignores you, but a really good server pays attention and cuts in when there's a pause in your conversation, not in the middle of your sentence. read more

I have been coming to this restaurant for years and never had a problem until today! After waiting for our food on our lunch break the young lady delivering pulls up on the opposite side of our building in a white 4 door Ford Taurus. The employee rolls her window down identifies herself as the delivery person and refuses to get out the car in fear of getting a ticket. After it was explained for her FYI that delivery drivers have 5 minutes to deliver as my co-worker began to walk across the street after a few moments (waiting on traffic to clear) the delivery driver pulls off without notice. Once it was realized that she was returning (thinking she was turning around to come on the same side of the street) a call was made to the restaurant. The OWNER of the restaurant responded in saying "WHY THE FUCK DID YOU SEND THE FOOD BACK, WE DON'T PLAY THAT BULLSHIT", THEN HUNG UP THE PHONE! Clearly the driver returned and LIED about what really happened! A $30 order returned (?) how likely is that! To handle this situation in a very unprofessional manner was rude and disrespectful. The owner never once asked the customer the reason for the food being "sent back". To add insult to injury another call was made by someone totally different a few moments after learning what happened and the lady who answered the phone stated "The other lady already talked to the owner and the issue has been resolved, have a good day" and hung up the phone in her ear! I am very disappointed in the service of this diner and the employees of the diner. As an owner it's your responsibility to find out why your customer wasn't pleased and make necessary changes if need be not to yell, use inappropriate language and hang up in a person's face. As a person no one would like that at all! This situation could've went in a wrong direction after being treated in this manner however it will be handled appropriately instead. The food is good and you can't miss with the specials. Large variety menu with several Lebanese choices. The breakfast special - 2 eggs, choice of meat and home fries is a great buy. If you like BLT's they have the regular size and a MONSTER that is huge. Two choices of French fries, frozen and fresh hand cut. Sam (the owner) signature cheesecake is a must, even if you have to take it to go. The staff and kitchen crew are very friendly, but be patient if you get a new waitress.
