My new favorite place in the area! I went two times last week and both times the food and service was excellent. The first time I had their version of a corned beef hash, this one had chunks of house prepared corned beef. Homemade potatoes and two eggs. Fantastic. Coffee is excellent too. Also tried the deep fried blueberry cheesecake burrito, also delicious. On my second visit a few days later, I tried the all-meat skillet with a side of sausage gravy and biscuits. So good. On a leisurely weekend drive to Grand Rapids from Toledo, we found ourselves hungry in Waterville during a pandemic. Normally we'd keep driving, but the pandemic has made being adventurous with eating tough, and when we noticed Dale's was open with outside seating, we decided to give it a try! Long story short, the food is solid, the portions are big and the view from the sidewalk is pretty lovely. I really have nothing bad to say. The door was delicious and the service was great. We were told it would be a half hour wait, which turns into an hour wait. That's how busy and good the food is. I've never eaten anything other than breakfast here and can't comment on the lunch menu items. We wrapped up our biking and were starving - I yelped the area and Dale's came up when I sorted by score. We got a cute little table outside. It was a bit overcast but the weather was great for breakfast outside. I ordered bacon (crispy) and home fries (crispy) along with a side order of cinnamon pecan French toast. The bacon was average thickness and not that instant microwave stuff. Home fries were plentiful and perfectly "crispy". The French toast was incredible. Went there for breakfast and one person in our party is gluten free, but when we got back home they had a very bad reaction to something they ate. So if you are gluten free, please be very cautious about cross contamination. As for the rest of us, the food was uninspired and bland. The service was good and friendly though. Food, again typical, though a bit greasy for my liking, still using an excess amount of butter or whatever they use, at least in my opinion. Wife's Ruben was by no means "lean", but she simply trimmed the fat away until she was happy and moved on to enjoy it nonetheless. I had an omelette with the home fries, and rye toast. The toast came out thick and butter. The home fries were soft and crispy ( perfect!). The omelette was good , but nothing spectacular. I noticed a lot of people getting the onion rings, so next time I am trying those. The service was fast and friendly. I highly recommend this place for nice traditional food. Very homey spot to grab a bite! We were driving and decided to make a stop into this town and found Dale's Diner since we wanted breakfast/brunch food. It's a quaint little restaurant so we expected a wait but when putting in our name, we weren't really given an estimate of how long it would be, luckily we only waited about 15 minutes for a table. Our server was very peppy and nice and checked on us when we needed to. They have a lot of items on the menu so it took a bit to look through. The potato bacon "cup" of soup was huge! I couldn't finish it so it could definitely a main course. The biscuits were fresh out of the oven, as I was told it would take a minute for my meal, but I was so glad they were fresh as they were soft and perfectly baked. I got a slice of peach lattice pie to go and unfortunately the filling did not taste that great in my opinion. The peaches were plenty but the jam/filling was very gelatin like. This is a small country style place. The Wait: If you come Sunday morning, the wait is usually long. The staff is always a mix of experience. Today the hostess didn't even give a wait time when I asked, she said there are three people ahead of us. Another group asked the same question and the answer was the same. When they insisted she said maybe 25 minutes. There always seems to be sufficient wait staff when its busy but time to seating seems slow. I saw five groups look inside, see people standing and then leave. One time we stopped by and I stood there for 7 minutes and no one came to take my name on a busy Sunday, but many employees looked at me, some Multiple times. A woman came in and talked to a random person who pulled out a pad and took her name. I left. No one seemed responsible and there were many people worming there. Very frustrating and a waste if time. Service: The service is usually pretty friendly and fairly fast once you are seated. Food: The food quality is pretty good, as good or better than Bob Evans and the portions are generally larger. Price: the price is reasonable, cheaper than Bob Evens by a few dollars. Not bad. Overall if you have patience to wait during busy times its a nice place. We have been going here every since it opened, and I am " The Duke" so I guess it is time to put in my review. It will be short and sweet. This is a GREAT place to eat. It is only open until 2 pm so only breakfast and lunch. Usually we have breakfast. The biscuits and gravy is really good, I had that this morning with scrambled eggs and struggled to finish because of amount of food. Coffee is a little strong for my taste, but is fine after I add a little water. We have had lunch a couple times, and soup was very good. One small gripe is up charge for mayo or other things on some of the sandwiches if it is not on the sandwich already. But the prices are pretty reasonable. All in all, we have never had a bad meal here. If we have had a problem, it has always been fixed promptly. My wife and I definitely recommend this place. Enjoy. read more

Came during the fall festival, so it was busy but still didn't take super long to get a table. Staff was very nice. Shared a malted waffle and the avocado omelette. Malted waffle was absolutely amazing. Avocado omelette was pretty good but the toppings weren't spread evenly across the egg so half ha snots of the avocado and the other half had most of the bacon. Omelette came with hash browns and buttered bread. Bread was good. Hash browns I didn't like because there wasn't any seasoning and the hard parts (part cooked at the bottom of the skillet) were too hard instead of being nice and crispy. We also had a side cup of fruit that had a lot of different types of fruit in it and was fresh. Overall pretty good place. read more

Worse home fries ever! Very mushy and slathered in grease. I think they were just reheated left overs from early a.m.- Yuk. Got a mega large pile of mangled cold-ish, but over crisped bacon (liked it had been dropped in a flash fryer), and barely toasted cold rye toast with a glob of unmelted so-called butter. My friend's breakfast burrito was dry and tasteless he said. Mr. A.-please check on you kitchen cooks. I believe something is "amiss". What a great area and really wanted to like this place. Never went before and there are new owners I'm told. Food was disappointing and there was burnt bits off the flat top on all the food from lack of cleaning I would assume. Food seemed like everything was frozen and reheated. Sat us by the bathroom and had the heat on hell, refused to turn it down which was blowing right on the table, makes no sense because it was silly warm and anybody would not of enjoyed it.
