I love this absolutely crazy, noisy, fast paced madhouse of a local breakfast place. The waitresses dash around at a quick trot bearing gargantuan plates of food, which is happily consumed by well padded patrons that appear to include many regulars. To be a regular might be courting a death wish, but what a place if you are starved, lets say after a long air flight. The menu is beyond standard with a generous in scope of choices and quality of cooking. It even provides for vegetarian needs. (Vegan not so much, but there is porridge!) The Corned Beef hash was miraculous .... Not from a can, but the real thing from another time and place. They do have pies, and future sampling is on my bucket list. Cute little place. Very nice greeting us, and the people were very nice. It was 1 of the best grilled chicken salad I ever had. Springs greens, cucumbers, grape tomatoes, beautiful chicken and lightly sprinkled with cheese. Dad had a cup of chilli. He was given the options of cheese and onions. First things first ... I'm from out-of-town and I've eaten at Dale's at least 4-5 times. Each time, the food was great. It's truly worthy "diner-quality" food served up fast, delicious and very reasonably priced. The atmosphere is that of a charming, small-town, local diner ... which is exactly what it is. It was so inviting and friendly that it made me wish that I was one of the local regulars. On my last visit, I sat at the counter instead of waiting for a table. From my vantage point, I could see for myself how hard the servers and cooks worked to make sure that their customers were served hot food without a very long wait. I also saw the owner in action. He seemed to know quite a few of the customers and made sure to ask about their families. At the same time, he calmly and competently assisted the servers and cooks. In other words, he acted like a good leader. There's usually a wait to be seated at a table on the weekends, but it's worth the wait. read more

This place is a surprise hit. It's on the main strip in Waterville, and it's just a delightful little diner, the perfect spot for breakfast, brunch and lunch. Absolutely great. What an awesome find here in Waterville. It may not be the fastest place into the early morning, fun locals, but the food is worth the wait. Visited three times in three months. So good enough to go back, but won't become my favorite. Last visit owners where there working...I think their presence made it worse...not better. Staffing appeared tense and commented that they couldn't wait for them to leave (over heard them talking to the couple beside us). Food was good but eggs come out over hard not easy.....as I ordered on one meal and on the other ...Eggs Benedict, yolks never ran out....poached extra hard. Service was quick and polite on each visit. We had to sit at the counter on two of the three visits because place is small and often busy for its size at breakfast time. Counter is tight and end seat is between a pole and the counter...no room..too many seats for such a short space. So..three star rating says A-OK....two stars says Meh. First visit. Breakfast for 2 approx 10:30 on a Wednesday. Not crowded, seated immediately. Our server was very friendly and patient. Decaf coffee took a few minutes ("I'll have to make a fresh pot")...not unusual for us. At least it was hot when received...which is unusual for us. I enjoyed my sausage gravy & biscuits. My friend liked her cinnamon French toast. Apology received that they were not able to heat the syrup..."microwave problem". No big deal, but mildly surprising. Very clean dining area. Only negative...we picked a table tor two by the window that wobbled back and forth. Just our bad luck, I guess. Would love to return and recommend. read more

They have a nice location in the historic downtown of Waterville. The large sidewalk allows them to have five tables outside. Inside was all tables, no booths. We visited at 10 AM on Saturday. The place was bustling but we did not have to wait for a table inside. The coffee was great. Much better than your average diner coffee. The food was really good. I had the country skillet with a side of pancakes. One odd thing was that my hash browns were not salted. I don't know if that is how they make them or if they forgot. It did not bother me though. The service was OK, maybe a little slow. I won't reflect that in the rating since we had a little one with us. It might be that my perception of time slows down as we approach the speed of gripe. read more

This was the worst service I ever received at a restaurant. We were told that it was a 15 minute wait. After over 30 minutes, we went to check our status and we were rudely told by the hostess wearing a malibu sweatshirt that they tried to call us "and several other people" and it went straight to voicemail. I was on my phone and never received a phone call! They continued to blame me for answering the 0 phone calls I received and indicated that they knew there was a problem with their phone line and they moved away from using phone numbers to seat folks. And instead of correcting this or putting us generally back toward the top of the list because of an issue of THEIR creating, they told us they could only add us to the bottom of the list and it would be another HOUR. The hostess then continued to yell that it was my fault for not answering the 0 phone calls I received and I left. We called later to discreetly talk with management and we were met with the same rudeness that we were met with in the restaurant. I understand that it was a busy weekend and there's a lot going on, but the least they could do was apologize and understand that issues occurred, but this never happened and my mother who was visiting from out of state never got to try this place that I had been talking up. Don't waste your money on horrible service that will be met with poor customer service. read more

I was told they could not accept a to go order today because their kitchen is so busy. Which leads me to believe there is zero social distancing happening. Great new place with modern diner decor! Our server was awesome too! They lost a star because they were out of mushrooms for my husbands mushroom/Swiss burger and he also said the men's bathroom floor was so greasy he couldn't stand in one spot without sliding. I enjoyed the country skillet. He ended up having the fish sandwich instead of the burger. If it wasn't so windy outside we would've enjoyed our meal on the outside patio tables. I had my standard breakfast as of late, comprised of crispy bacon.. rye toast.. and tomato slices. So the tomatoes were good standard quality, and I got about half a tomato, so that was nice vs other places where I get 3 silly slices hehe... The bacon was pretty good tasting, and they did cook it crispy like I wanted, so I was pleased =) The rye toast was not the best I've ever had, but I was satisfied =) I also enjoyed the fact they had sugar free jam available, so with a glass of iced water and decent coffee I thought my breakfast was satisfying =) read more

The staff is always friendly and attentive and this place is locally owned. The owner is usually present and interacts with his customers and he is also very community minded. Decided to give Dale's another go for breakfast this past Saturday. I have to say, after a year, there have been several improvements. There are finally some serious waitstaff that know their jobs and keep hustling. Previous staff spent most of their time eating, drinking and gossiping behind the counter. Food has improved, not nearly so greasy as previous visit. I loved the home fried potatoes and the scrambled eggs and ham were tasty. Stopped in Saturday for lunch. Wife's club was good my chicken Philly was tasteless, wouldn't consider it again. Chicken dumping soup was average not bad but,. Service sat us promptly got our drink order then handed us off to our server that seemed to careless we were there. I would not take my dog here to eat. This is a true story, this past summer the waitress was bring drinks to my husbands table , they said they did not order ice tea just water she said oh walked over to another table gave them the tea an took their waters and brought them to my husbands table for them. He looked at her ... she thought that was great she said they didn't drink from them yet the lady only squeezed the lemon in the water!! Never eat here!! We went on Sunday morning, around 11:15.
