Mega huge side salad.

On a leisurely weekend drive to Grand Rapids from Toledo, we found ourselves hungry in Waterville during a pandemic. Normally we'd keep driving, but the pandemic has made being adventurous with eating tough, and when we noticed Dale's was open with outside seating, we decided to give it a try! Long story short, the food is solid, the portions are big and the view from the sidewalk is pretty lovely. If you haven't been to Waterville, it's classic historic small town America, and the food definitely follows suit.

Yes. A 5-star review for a diner. Location is ideal. Menu is extensive but not overwhelming and all the things you expect at a great diner - including chili, home fries, and homemade pies. The staff is friendly, efficient, knowledgeable. The food comes out fast and is high quality. I wouldn't change a thing (although they are closing for 3 days the first week of November for renovations - I'm sure it's maintenance and necessary but I still wouldn't change a thing). Great for breakfast or lunch; worth any wait quoted. Great service, great value, great tasting food. The trifecta for a dining experience and a delightful restaurant. Today we ordered two 'skillet' breakfasts: 1. Country: Home fries, sausage gravy, peppers and onions, topped with two eggs and shredded cheese 2. Veggie: Home fries topped with two eggs, spinach, peppers, onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, and our shredded cheese blend. Both with biscuits for the small upcharge. Both delicious. Website: http://www.dalesbarandgrill.com/dales-diner/ This diner is the perfect small town diner and the food is consistently great. I no longer live in town, but enjoy coming when I visit. Parking is free street parking and a good indicator for how long your wait will be. (Totally worth any wait though) Decor is charming with historic photos of Waterville and seating is comfortable. My favorite orders have been the skillets (the home fries are Hand-sliced potatoes lightly griddle-fried with onion) but Dale's is famous for their burgers. I save my burger orders for Dale's on Conant in Maumee since I cannot get a breakfast skillet there. :) I'm convinced there is not a bad food order here. Excellent choice.

Long wait this morning. Hope it's good.

I really have nothing bad to say. The door was delicious and the service was great. We were told it would be a half hour wait, which turns into an hour wait. That's how busy and good the food is. I've never eaten anything other than breakfast here and can't comment on the lunch menu items. I would recommend getting there early though on a weekend or your going to have to wait fire sure.

First time here and won't be the last! Hubby and I were in the area for a long morning bike ride. We wrapped up our biking and were starving - I yelped the area and Dale's came up when I sorted by score. We got a cute little table outside. It was a bit overcast but the weather was great for breakfast outside. I ordered bacon (crispy) and home fries (crispy) along with a side order of cinnamon pecan French toast. The bacon was average thickness and not that instant microwave stuff. Home fries were plentiful and perfectly "crispy". The French toast was incredible. Lot of pecans and a great cinnamon whipped butter.

Loved this popular place! Had eggs, thick sourdough toast and their sausage. All amazing! The waitress was very kind, she made great recommendations! I recommend if you're in the area. Also, be prepared to wait a bit. We waited 15 minutes. Was worth it!

This was a fantastic place! Very small but worth the wait. I was in a party of six and everyone was craving something different. We all loved our food. The prices were great and the service was friendly and fast. The coffee was strong and refilled without asking. I would definitely come here every time I visit the area. A true gem!

The sign on the door said that staff were taking precautions against COVID-19, however we did not see any staff outside the kitchen wearing masks or gloves, or see any closed tables. On entering, we waited by the 'please wait to be seated' sign for a couple of minutes before a smiling, young waitress took us to a table. The menu was surprisingly extensive; my daughters each ordered the chocolate chip pancake, while I got the Mexican Hat Dance with a coffee. However the waitress kept forgetting things, and had to come back twice to ask questions like what kind of cheese (pepperjack). Our orders were ready in what felt like a pretty average amount of time, considering there were only three other occupied tables in the restaurant. The food itself was good, but not great. The portions were decently sized, but not overly generous. Prices were good, but likewise not great. The service the decided ... average. As restaurants go, we felt that Buzz Family Diner was average. Nothing bad, but also nothing great ... just average, which is perfectly fine.

First, Kyle our waiter, was excellent with suggestions, perfect pace of service and politeness. He alone deserves 5 stars! Second, the assistant manager Emily, was very pleasant and welcoming when we arrived and checked back midway through our meal to see if everything was to our satisfaction... it was! Finally, the food was great and my steak was perfect, done just the way I wanted! Such attention to detail and the friendly, professional service made for a delightful evening out. Thank you!

They did absolutely nothing wrong, but in the end, our mealnsits above average. The first thing is the food. The portions are not huge, but that's okay at an expensive place. My ribeye was cooked exactly medium rare and was a nice cut of meat. However, it was drowning in butter and was just too salty for the meat to shine through. A good steak, but not great and maybe not even very good. My wife's scallops were very good and came with a great corn relish underneath. The sides must be ordered separately. We got the mashed potatoes and those were absolutely excellent-- probably also too much butter, but that just makes potatoes better. We got the feta appetizer and that was good, but very thick in our mouths. My wife had the leftovers for lunch and found it better as it's own meal The service was simply great. They knew we wouldn't finish the feta and had it boxed and bagged with extra toast before we were done with our entrees. Nice, attentive, detailed. We both looked at the cocktails and wines and saw nothing that interested us. We're not big drinkers, but were surprised. Usually an expensive place has something for us. The tables are very large. We were on a date, but we felt too far to have an intimate conversation. My wife skipped a few topics because it felt too public to talk about them. I do not disagree with paying a lot for exceptional food. I came in expecting to drop $200 on dinner. I wanted to wine and dine my lovely wife. But Benchmark was not exceptional. It was above average. And when I'm trying to decide between 3 and 4 stars, feeling as though it's not worth the price makes me drop to 3. It would have been 4 stars at $100 or maybe $150.
