Building Exterior - The image shows a double rainbow arching across the sky above an outdoor seating area of a restaurant or cafe. The area includes several tables and chairs, some of which are empty, and a building with a sloped roof. String lights are hung overhead, and trees are visible in the background. The scene suggests a calm, outdoor dining or social space after rain.

Went to Side Cuts for the first time tonight. The owner greeted us right away and gave us time to peruse the sandwich menu and check the place out. Being a new place it was very clean and very inviting. We split the #6 Bend View and it was fantastic. The roast beef had great seasoning and flavor. The caramelized onions were a perfect addition to the roast beef and the horseradish gave it a nice kick. Being able to then dip the sandwich in au jus was the chefs kiss treating this like a French dip. We cannot wait to return and try a different sandwich next time.

1/2 of a corned beef & pastrami on marbled rye and 1/2 a turkey-bacon sandwich - Two sandwiches with meats, lettuce, and cheese are placed on a white tray. One sandwich uses dark rye bread, and the other uses white bread. The sandwiches contain sliced meats, lettuce, and cheese, with some ingredients spilling onto the tray.

Great, kind, quick service and tasty sandwiches. I enjoy the #4 (Blue Grass Island), #5 (Cannonball Prairie), and #2 (Orleans Park).

In South Toledo at the corner of Rugby and S Detroit, lies the family owned and operated SOD. (Drive south on Rugby from Glanzman...one way street). MEAT AND POTATOES: The sandwiches are awesome. AWESOME I SAID! Although the secret ingredient may actually be love, these sammies seem to be crafted with the freshest and tastiest ingredients known to man. I'm serious. Expensive they are, but that's ok, because each sandwich (and "free" bag of chips) will probably come pretty close to filling you up. With that in mind, 14 bucks for an excellent MEAL doesn't sound so bad. To be honest, the Greek salad is not the best in town...but Greek salad isn't really the focus of a place like this, now is it. The atmosphere is friendly, comfortable, and clean. It's not fancy...it's a deli, after all. Order and pay at the counter, receive your meal, then either sit down and eat, or carry out. The people taking care of you are the owner and her kids. They're very friendly...and fast...and efficient. I must say, I'm really surprised there are (relatively) few reviews for Smokin' Olive Deli. If this place were in downtown Sylvania or downtown Perrysburg, or even in Cricket West, I'll bet there would be 100+ five star reviews! But since that's not the case, I'd whole hearted recommend that you truck on down to SoTol and show some love to SOD...in return, they'll show some serious love to your taste buds! 5 STARS!

YES!!!!! Finally,…read moreafter nearly 10 years living back in Toledo, this place has opened! Real NYC-style chicken and rice. If you ever lived in NYC you know what I'm talking about. This is the real deal. The guy who runs it used to run a deli in Brooklyn. Toledo has plenty of good Lebanese shawarma platters, but this is a different category. Nothing else scratches the itch. They upped their price to about $15, but when they did that they increased the portion size and included a drink and a bag of chips for free, so I think it's still a pretty good deal. Often they'll mix in some fries with the platter, too. As well as lettuce, tomatoes, and grilled onions and peppers. And they have Vernors, which you can't usually get at NYC halal trucks. So it's almost like NYC-Detroit fusion, the best of both worlds LOL! I haven't tried the rest of their menu much. I tried a lemon chicken sandwich once, and it was not on par with the ones that I've from the better delis in Harlem and The Bronx. It was kind of soggy and salty. I might try more of the subs at some point, but I really think of this as a one dish place for now, in spite of their long menu. I think it's hard to express just how happy I am to have this place a short drive from me. The cost to obtain one of my favorite foods from my home in Toledo went down from about $500 and several hours of travel (the price of a round-trip flight to LaGuardia plus one night in a hotel in Queens) down to about $15 and a 10 minute drive.
