Ribeye (16 oz.) Was cook to perfectly!!!
Ernest S.

Wow--what an incredible experience from start to finish! Marcus D was our server, and it was obvious he truly loves what he does. He guided us through the menu with expertise and genuine passion, recommending an amazing starter, delicious entrées, and some fantastic cocktails. We ordered the blackened salmon and asked for it to be prepared like the sea bass (which was unfortunately sold out), and it was absolutely delicious--the purée it came with might've been my favorite part! The 16 oz. ribeye was cooked to perfection, and the mashed potatoes were pretty solid too. For dessert, the key lime bar was both creative and absolutely delicious. And let's not forget the Dirty Shirley with Tito's--yes, it was really good. LOL. We're visiting from California for a basketball tournament, and we'll definitely be back--not just for the amazing food, but because Marcus made the entire experience outstanding. Great job, all around!

First, I would like to say the wait staff at benchmark is amazing. Cassandra, our waitress was awesome. Knowledgeable on the dinners and a great personality. The decor has not changed since they opened very plain industrial. Yet still relaxing . The food is always amazing. We had the 14 oz ribeyes, salads, The brussel sprouts and the parmesan fries.

For the food to be as expensive as it it is and ala carte, I expected better. The waitress was nice, but brought cold popovers. The French Onion Soup was pretty good. My Mother in law's Blackened Salmon was good and she had asparagus and mashed potatoes. My Blackened Salmon was MEDIUM which was RAW in the center, so I ate around it. The Crabcake was Not Great. Lastly, the Ribeye...We asked for Medium but it came out RARE. Overall, wouldn't come back. Maybe in OHIO this is a staple kind of place and high end. I'm not sure, but the kitchen needs to take the time to SEASON their food and not try to cook it QUICKLY, but cook the food evenly so the inside matches the outside. Have charred food on the outside, and RAW on the inside suggests HIGH HEAT and the inside can't catch up.

The wait staff here is 10/10. Cannot say enough good things about Ricardo making our first experience here positively magical. The lamb shank osso buco was delicious, and my husband really enjoyed his steak. The brussel sprouts are the stuff dreams are made of! We'll be back for their seasonal rotation!

Thick cut bacon

Holy pork belly. They're calling it bacon, but it's straight up chunks of pork belly and I am *here* for it. Several menu items come with it, and I look forward to sampling them all. They started us with some delightful bread, something akin to a Yorkshire pudding...it was *quite* good. Heavy on the rosemary, light fluffy texture, not overly filling so you still have room for all the bacon Most importantly, served with soft whipped butter! Thick cut bacon appetizer - they are not f***in' around, kids. This was three sizeable, luxurious chunks of smoked pork belly drizzled with real maple syrup and herbs. Sumptuous! The smoke flavor really came through. A meal in itself! Highly recommend getting this. French onion soup - very flavorful, tested of onion AND beef, nicely salty, cheesy and delicious. This is exactly what you want out of a French onion soup! Would definitely get this again. Maple Grits & Bacon - wonderfully textured grits with crisped pork belly chunks and lots of real maple syrup. Almost a dessert! Another winner. Brussels sprouts - these were simple but paired so well with everything else. It was nice to have a dish that didn't have pork or maple in it to balance out the rest of our meal! A good contrast. Short rib - I don't know that I agree with what they did to these poor carrots. I'm sure they calling it roasted, but it was more...dessicated at the skinny end and raw at the top end. The short rib was good with a nice glaze, the sauce was spicy, but not excessively so. It came topped with cilantro, which isn't on the ingredients list. I'm allergic so this would have been nice to know about. Thankfully it was easily removable and not wilted. I would skip this next time tho and just order everything else. They had so many interesting looking sides and appetizers, you could easily make a meal out of them alone...we almost did! We will definitely be back again! The space was clean, bright and airy. Service was great. We waited quite a bit for our cocktail, but otherwise were well attended. We tried to order a fresh baked cookie to take home from their dessert menu, but they were out. They kindly offered us another dessert item on the house as an apology. That's was very gracious of them!

very good, such a good portion for an appetizer

Very good! Appetizer was my favorite. Drinks were good and free bread is always amazing.

We love this place. The service, food and ambience is always amazing, What I love most is you can go there for a casual happy hour or celebration dinner and it's always amazing. Their servers are well trained and know the food. The popovers are amazing. They had filet on the bone which is my favorite the sides and salads are always so good. Amazing cocktails and Awesome mocktails! We always go there for a special evening and it never fails

Medium rare ribeye, Chef's Way--good temp & flavor, but a little tougher than I'd hoped for
Ms. M.

Classic steakhouse fare, modern steakhouse vibes. Overall, good service, solid food, and huge portions. Nothing blew me away, and I really wish my steak was more tender. But I did really enjoy getting my steak the "Chef's Way," which came with a healthy amount of butter poached king crab, steeped in Korean steak butter and black truffle bernaise, and some asparagus. And popovers for the complimentary bread service is always a plus in my book!

I have been here several times but it has been a few years. I was happy to see they are still here and the quality is still excellent. They have good happy hour specials with food and drinks. I had the wedge salad and it's great. The bacon comes in chunks and the dressing tastes homemade. The popovers are not to be missed. They are excellent and not as heavy as other pre-dinner breads. The booze selection is vast and they make great mixed drinks. Everything I've had here is excellent, fresh and high quality. I had the shrimp and grits entree. Not the best I've had but very good. They put a BBQ sauce on it. I love this place.

We ordered the crab cake appetizer. It was extremely dry and tasted more like cornmeal than crab.

We all know I love a good cocktail menu, and Harry Potter themed? How could we go wrong? I ordered the Harry Potter flight and was wowed by all the different flavors. I was disappointed in the lack of European wines but found an Italian on the last bottle list. It was $150 but I was desperate. Unfortunately, our server didn't come back for 15 min to take our order and then when she finally delivered it, she broke the cork because she didn't screw down far enough. Alcohol is a big money maker yet we sat for 40 minutes before it was poured. The food was the main problem. Not only a super slow kitchen but it was then served refrigerator cold. Everything. Fish, steak, green beans, baked potatoes, mashed potatoes, even the plate was frigid. So we sent it back and instead of preparing a new plate, they tried to just warm it and brought it back cold..again. This was a $75 plate of food. At this point, we were concerned about food safety and said to just forget it. Luckily we had bread with our wine but they never offered anything else other than not charging us for the food which we didn't even touch. This was two hours after our arrival so went home hungry after paying for the wine. To top it off, there was a loud, raging fight in the bar area that we heard across the restaurant so we waited until they had left, concerned about a physical altercation. For your date night - find somewhere else to spend your hard earned money such as the standard or the registry bistro in Toledo. Your dollar will go further and you will leave much more satisfied. We were disappointed and still left hungry after a ~$160 tab, before tip, for two entrees and a glass of wine each ($13 and $14 each for cloudline Pinot and stag cab). Avoid the crab cakes - shell-like stuff in literally every bite with hardly any flavor down to the aioli, small portion at $24 it is not worth your money. Unfortunately had a fishier bite that really was disappointing. This was my first time that I have ever sent a plate back, which we were comp'd for sort of - server said it was removed but the total bill was still somehow $10 or so over the cost of items ordered. The filet was $66, it was well cooked at medium rare however it was cold at the time it got to the table, the " local mushroom risotto" was more of a pilaf - not your usual savory unctuous dish, and green beans were al dente however, there were only about 10 of them. I don't mind spending money on an expensive steak but for $66 I expected a great, hot steak with well done sides. The miso sea bass was well cooked and probably the most redeeming part of the meal. The specialty cocktail list is majority vodka based. Not the "top shelf" bar experience that you'd be used to if coming from Detroit area or the registry or even Hannons block in downtown Toledo. Overall, I recommend looking somewhere else for your date night, there are great places in the Toledo area to be enjoyed.
