I came here on an Instacart run, and got lucky. As few as their were available employees on the sales floor, all were very helpful and willing to show me where items were. The lady who worked in the copy department was the most helpful, and went out of her way to look to see if a needed item was still in stock. I do like when employees approach me to ask if I need assistance looking for anything specific. That's what they should do, in retail at least... read more

Went into print two plain paper pictures on the self-service machines. I could not get them to work, so I went up to the counter, completely empty store the woman back there ignored me for about three minutes, and finally asked if I needed some help. I I told her what I wanted to do she mumbled at me. I don't know what? mumble mumble, I got a close mumble mumble. Exact same experience I got the Pleasant Hill store, I guess they're copy. People are trained to mumble at the customers and not help them and tell them their life story. read more

Bought a printer for the Computer. Could not get it to work or print even though the troubleshooter said everything was fine. Contacted Staples Technical Support. They ran numerous tests and said to take the printer back to the store. Took it back and they immediately gave me a brand new printer. It works perfect. Good Technical support and Store Customer Service!! read more

I've been trying to avoid Amazon when possible, and made a point to buy a large printer locally. As it turned out my needs changed, and we still hadn't opened the one we bought at Staples, less than a month ago. Upon taking it to return, we were informed that there is a 14 DAY return policy! Nobody said a word when I bought it, but sure tried to sell me the extended warranty! They also have next to zero inventory. I'd think they would want to be able to serve someone who does need a printer! Nowhere is it posted, and the clerk who did the transaction did not mention anything about a return policy! The specialist who helped us decide on the printer didn't say anything. 14 Days? I don't know a single business that has a 14 day policy! Most businesses won't even get around to opening the box for two weeks. HOW DO YOU HAVE AN EXTREME POLICY OF 14 DAYS AND NOT INSURE EVERY BUYER IS AWARE AT THE TINE OF SALE??? Even if it does exist on some tiny sign, this is not how large businesses behave. This is not customer centric in any sense. I could have slapped a label on the box and had UPS pick up for free back to AMAZON. If you want local spending, you have to do more than exist. You need to provide VALUE. I'll never shop at Staples again and I'll remove every corporate account as I find them. Great job Staples! Best example of how NOT to stay in business! May be a sign they are going under! read more

Leaving update: Joanna called me (almost immediately it seems) and spoke to me for a good amount of time ! She explained the situation in detail and I got a MUCH better understanding of what was happening and why it was happening. So I was pleased that this was a better experience than what I felt I received in the store. Again, the initial product I had came out good so my issue was more with customer service and communication of certain things. read more

I had the opportunity to work with Derrek at this store and had a wonderful experience! I went in to get my laptop battery replaced and he was so knowledgeable and helpful. It was really busy because of back to school but he remained so calm and patient. He called me as soon as my battery arrived and fixed it that day for me. Such a great person! read more

These 5 stars go completely to Gabby who is the manager, and Seena who assembled the chair. Gabby was really a "Hands On" manager who went beyond the norm to provide superior customer service. She even honored the online price of the chair which was $60 cheaper! We were told the assembly of the chair took almost an hour. Seena assembled the chair in 19 minutes! read more

When I originally purchased my printer at the San Ramon Staples, the store manager, Johanna, was extremely helpful and obliging. She told me what a great printer it was, convinced me to buy the extended warranty and service plan, and told me what great service and protection I would get if I purchased this these things, and so I purchased them all. Now, my printer is having issues, which happens, no biggie. So I figured I would use that service/protection plan that I purchased. I went to the San Ramon Staples to speak with Johanna about how I could have my printer serviced and fixed, but she was extremely abrupt and told me to come back another time because she didn't have any time to talk to me. When I explained that I live 45 minutes away and just needed a few minutes of her time, she cut me off and told me that she was not able to talk to me today and walked off with another customer. This made me feel stupid and used for believing her speech about good customer service and helpfulness. She was neither helpful nor provided good customer service to me in this instance. In fact she was downright rude. I do not recommend that you count on Johanna, the store manager, of Staples San Ramon, to be helpful when there is a problem with your purchased device. In the future, I will be purchasing my product elsewhere. I am very disappointed. read more

Good customer service. We came here with our vaccinated cards to get them laminated for FREE. Yes, you heard that right. Last I heard it was only until May 1st but they might have extended that. Call and double check. You have to wait about 15-20mins to get it done. Go shop while u wait. In fact, that is probably what they want u to do. So go buy something there and support local business to keep them afloat. I got 3 vax cards laminated in total for my family. Thank you! read more

Stopped by for a legit office chair and discovered lazy boy is now in that game. Staff was super helpful and although some old dude snaked the last one I was comfortably testing, they shipped a brand new model to my door in days. This is a go-to for you office or home office needs. read more

Good store, not as stocked as expected with items I was in search for, but staff are friendly. What cannot be found in store can be ordered online and shipped to your residence or the store location for pick up. Not bad I suppose, if you are not needing items immediately. read more

This place is pretty good. I haven't used their services and I know exactly where everything is now. I usually don't need help. They have the fastest lines out of the other Staples I have been to. Its close to my office so that's nice. Getting out of the parking lot to go back to my office is a hassle but not their fault. Oh, also their building needs a paint job in the worst way. Okay, just kidding on my last review. I guess my 5 star review was too good to be true. Staples corporate messed up big time and they don't seem to have the proper customer service support in the stores to back up their mistake. There's a $30 off ANY TABLET coupon that was on their website yesterday and it doesn't honor the coupon for the Nexus 7, which they decided to release early in competition with other retailers. Staples corporate took the coupon off of their website this morning and they're not honoring the coupon for those who have it printed. Many of the forums online state that Staples employees gave the same excuse, "The coupon was not coded for the Nexus 7." However, Staples could do right by their customers and 1) take the coupon down from the website, 2) write in an exclusion on the coupon, 3) post a sign at the cash register so individuals aren't wasting their time. I'm not the only one complaining -- take a look at forums and Staples' own Facebook page where others are complaining. WOMP WOMP. read more

Thank you Derek for you customer service this weekend! Even though my expedited poster order didn't get done per the original expected time this weekend, Derek went above and beyond to get my request done before Sunday morning when i absolutely needed it. Have you ever been to this location and rushed out ? That's exactly how Desmond treats the customers there . He said maybe "5 times, we close in 10 minutes." I called prior to heading in, and the i spoke to Brian, he said i can come in and print as long as i was there before closing ... I hear in, and Desmond, says "just to let you know we close in 10 minutes." Cool . Noted. I say "i just need to print something" and Desmond responds, printer area closed at 5. Followed by, We are out of paper ..... What a fun waste of time.. either way, definitely felt like hr just wanted customers our the store to close and leave. I'll make sure to avoid this store going forward. Thanks . read more

I had to drop off a gown I rented from Rent the Runway that needed to be received by UPS by 9am Monday morning. Overzealous, yet incompetent (lead) sales person. One of my client was in desperate need of an all in one printer, so I went to this San Ramon Staples store to pick one up, at checkout, the (lead) check out clerk told me that the printer (HP Laserjet Pro M227fdw) DOES NOT come with ANY toner cartridge, and that I need to buy one. In fact, she told me that NONE of the HP printers comes with cartridges !!! I told her that it should come with the starter toner cartridge, she gave me a condescending look and said with her raised voice, that with her experience, she recommended that I should get the extra toner cartridge, otherwise, I would have to come back within an hour. I thought my client could have used an extra cartridge anyway, so, I went ahead with the extra cartridge purchase. At my client's office, we unpacked the unit, and there it was, a starter cartridge. I ran an initial supplies report, and it stated that it has 1,250 pages remaining. I guess the standard cartridge will have at least 2,500. I don't mind buying the extra cartridge, I do mind, however, the attitude of the clerk, apparently, she was in need of toner cartridge sales bonuses? Next time, will just order online so dont have to deal with the attitude from the sales clerk. read more

This review is particularly for the Print and Marketing department-I've been blown away time and again by their customer service and their commitment to making sure we are satisfied with our final product. Last year Natashi helped make sure our holiday cards were perfect (there was a slight imperfection on one of the photos and she caught it and contacted us to fix it! We were blown away). This year Gabby and Noelle and Josie all went above and beyond to help make sure the process went smoothly with our 200 custom cards, and thanks to Josie helping us swap out a picture, they turned out perfect once again. I will most definitely use Staples every year for all of my cards and we will continue to drive the 30 minutes to go to this particular location where their employees are absolute fantastic and truly care about their customers. read more

I have been a customer of Staples, San Ramon for the past 8 years. I go in there to get office supplies a least once a week. The other day I purchased a new Dell computer. I have to say, Brian the tech in this store, gave me the best customer service I have ever had. He explained everything so I could understand exactly what I am getting. he has always been very helpful, every time I have gone in there. The manager is also very helpful, and always very nice. I highly recomment Staples in San Ramon. Sue S. read more

Ordered some Print Shop note cards online Thursday. Picked them up Friday. Backside were crooked. Went back into the store where Rico said he would advise the manager who was at lunch (130pm) and what was a good number she could call me? Its about 430 so I called to see why no one had called me? Was advised they were just about to be produced and I could pick them up around 9pm. Um, no. This doesn't work for me so I asked to speak to a manager. He answered and said he would get them to me by 7pm -- turns out it was Rico. So, before he wasn't the manager and now he is? Got it. read more

I just went to this location on a whim to try and find some elusive 3-pocket paper folders. Anthony checked in with me as soon as I walked in, which I thought was impressive, as most retail places ignore you when you enter. He showed me where the regular paper folders were, and also let me browse on my own for a while, which I really appreciate. He even looked around by himself for the 3-pocket folders, but came back to tell me that he couldn't find them. He also let me know about a teacher discount program (since I'm a teacher), and was just super helpful and friendly! When I checked out, Noor (I think was her name... she is Pakistani-American) was very polite, conscientious, and helpful. When a line began building up, she made the wise decision to enter my rewards program info later, but the lady who was in line left so Noor and I got to chat a bit while she signed me up. This Staples has a great crew, and I wish I lived closer so I could frequent it more often! As I was leaving, I noticed that the lady who had been in line looked pissed and asked Anthony for a manager... of course, I'm not sure of the reason, but I can't help but think that it's because she had to wait in line or something equally as dumb. If the manager reads this, I hope you don't take her complaint seriously, as I was witness to most of her interactions and the staff went above and beyond for this grumpy lady. read more

It is rare that I go into an office supply store, but when I learned that Staples had a print and copy center, I decided to check them out to get a quote for a print job for my daughter's Bat Mitzvah. We needed to have the guest place cards printed on glossy card stock, cut (the place cards were done like tickets to a play with the guest name), have the table markers printed, cut and laminated to fit in stands (each table was a different musical), and have a photo poster board made with my daughter's picture and border around it for people to sign (as opposed to a sign in book). All of this was done in the same day for less than $80.00. Jan who works the "print counter" was fabulous. She made some cost saving recommendations and I really felt like I received service from a mom and pop type store rather than a big chain. She was attentive, understanding and most of all, did a fabulous job. I would use this service again in a heart beat and though we have a Kinkos a stone throws away from our house, this place far surpassed any experience I have ever had there. read more

Amazing customer service upon entry! The second I stepped in the door, I was asked if I needed help with anything. I thought I knew where I was going, but the notebooks were not where I expected and the manager (I think) walked me to where I wanted to go. Minus one star for the long wait in line. There was only one cashier open and a line of 3 people lined up behind me as I waited for a girl to purchase a bunch of gift cards, which took FOREVER (~5 min?). During my long wait in line (carrying a box of 30 notebooks), I noticed that the employees were very intentional about asking everyone that came in if they needed any help. Most people were hesitant to respond, but I noticed that pretty much everyone benefited, with the exception of the guy who was making a copy and seemed to know what he was doing. With all that said, I also noticed a "We're Hiring" sign, so maybe they're just short-staffed for now. I'd definitely go back for their eagerness to help at the door. If lines were shorter, this would be the best Staples ever! read more

Totally dishonest manager and staff I went to the store to purchase "Toshiba Satellite C55-C5268, 15.6", 8 GB RAM, 500 GB Hard Drive with Windows 10 Notebook" on sale for $299. I also had my in-store $100 off notebooks coupon printed and ready to use. The coupon clearly has no restrictions other than the notebook/laptop has to be over $199 including sale items. I tried to explained to her the coupon had no such restrictions but she dismissed my explanation with mumbling nonsense and no valid reasoning. At the end, the lady store manager simply refused to honor the coupon siting additional excuses. I was marginally interested in the laptop; and after this unpleasant experience, completely un-interested. read more

Ok my update is for the service i received at the copy/print area. last night i went in, kind of in a panic, that i needed to have them print/cut some thank you cards & i only had a 24hr turnaround time to when i needed them. Jen behind the counter was on day1 of her new job at Staples...oh was I nervous. Man, this girl was awesome!! She was super nice and friendly, and of course as helpful as a girl can be on her first day. Next came in Bryan, who i believe is the store manager or something. His assistance was definitely needed in the system ordering/pricing of my last minute order, but he was SUPER knowledgable!! oh man, he knew his paper! he got me setup ready to go and then handed things back to the girl who started the order. back to homegirl Jen...she was so friendly! She was just so all about it and it definitely made me feel relieved handing off the job to her/Staples, even if she was still 'wet behind the ears.' her first day enthusiasm along with her "commitment to excellence" (she kept saying they would do it right and if it wasn't, they would make it right!!) was refreshing and i felt good walking away from the project...cause i was nervous!! Above all, this place was way more affordable then FedEx which was super exciting! Plus the copy center was an employee short that day (no call/no show,) but it looked like they were doing just fine without him. i will defintely be making this my first stop for future paper needs! read more

Buyer Beware! Staples "Easy Returns" is not easy! Instead it is deceptive and in my opinion presented dishonestly. If you read the back of the receipt it implies you can get a full refund with a receipt for "Office supplies at any time" if they're in salable condition. It's the second thing printed after "Easy returns". Don't believe it! After arguing with Chris Wilson the manager, I found out their really policy is only 30 days. Didn't get a refund for spiral notepads even with my receipt. read more

I have a business near this Staples store and frequent it often and have always been treated well. Recently my wife's computer crashed and I decided to get it repaired here since it is close and brought it in yesterday morning. I got a prompt response by yesterday afternoon telling me that it needs a new power supply and it would take 2 to 3 days for them to get one. My alternative was to pick one up and bring it in and they would turn it right around. Afraid I would pick up the wrong one, I printed a couple options off Fry's website and took them in to show the tech to be sure I wasn't making more that one trip to Fry's. He confirmed that one of them was compatible so I picked it up today at Fry's. Just got a call from Staples. Guess what; wrong one! Won't fit my computer. Now I have to make another trip to Concord to exchange the power supply. I'm going to ask for some sort of compensation for this but I seriously doubt they'll do anything. If I get satisfaction, I'll update this posting. read more
