if I could give them zero stars I would. I took my Harman Kardon HK930 receiver in for service. Paid the $150 diagnosis fee. a few weeks went by so I called to check. No answer but I did receive a text saying it would be completed in a couple of weeks. Close to two months later no news so I sent a text and he said he had done part of the repair but found other issues and would get back to me. I called and he actually answered the phone. "Oh, it's been here for a long time. I call you tomorrow. that was the last communication I've had. no response to calls, or text so I drove by there today and they've closed the business. There's a note on the door stating they are still doing business but the number the same as the one I've been calling. I'm hoping they've not kept other people's gear. read more

My daughter dropped her 18-month-old iPhone during a class trip. While the screen wasn't shattered, the right side of the display was showing thick white lines which made "Settings" unusable. I got a quote through the Yelp app and Jason from Technopia was the first to respond with a quote. As with all repairs, one should always research and ask questions to make sure your expectations are met. Jason was prompt with answering my questions, and both his quotes for LED screen and soft OLED screen were very reasonable. Also, according to their website: "There is no diagnostic fee for iPhone/iPad repairs. Get repaired or no charge!" So please don't let old reviews about other electronics (requiring the diagnostic fee) deter you from considering Technopia for your phone repair needs. Make sure you make an appointment though. We were asked to wait in the car while Jason replaced the screen. The screen looks good as new and we are very pleased with the job. As the repair cost is coming out of my daughter's allowance, she is grateful as well. :) read more

Jason, the owner, was very friendly. The only problem was that he sent me a email to bring him the item to be repaired knowing that the product (AM/FM Sony Headset) was an item that was not readily serviceable. Jason has a signed on the window free estimates but charged me $30 to check out my product. By the end of the day Jason called me to let me know that there was no available parts for my headset and that he could not repair. Instead Jason informed me that I could purchase the same product for $15 on EBay. I was not thrilled to pay him $30 and then for Jason to let me know that I could purchase another one for $15. Oh well I picked up my headset on Monday and continue using my Sony Headset. Just to let everyone know the reason I took the product in was because one side had no sound. I really think that in the electronics world they would prefer customers to just throw away the old model and purchase a new model. read more

A good experience overall. My 7 year old Samsung TV stopped communicating with its remote. I tried all the basic troubleshooting on the remote - changed batteries, cleaned it super well..blah, blah. I noticed that the infrared light on the TV was flashing for a few weeks before it completely went dark which led me to believe the sensor on the TV had gone bad. I called Jason who said he was in my neighborhood that day and agreed to stop by afterward. We agreed on his price of $90. to troubleshoot (which would be applied to any repairs). It took Jason 10 minutes to determine that it was my remote that had stopped working, not my TV. He offered to sell me a generic remote that he brought with him for $25. So 15 minutes and $115. later my TV was working again and although I was disappointed in myself for not figuring it out on my own, I didn't have to haul my TV anywhere and I was able to support a local minority-owned business. I took my iPhone 12 to Jason to replace the battery. However, per him, due to the replacement battery is bulkier than the original one, he had to replace the display as well. Immediately, my phone showed red flags of non-compatible parts on both battery and display and I could not get reading of battery capacity. When I took it back to Jason, he suggested to "hard reset" while I did in front of him. Red flags still persisted. But, it got worse from there. My iPhone would randomly launched apps, randomly dialed calls. Moreover, the phone would shut itself down every two or three days due to overheating. Jason insisted it is not caused by the battery nor the display he installed. Finally, I took it Apple store for genuine Apple battery and display. During the installation by Apple, its technician found out that Jason "scrubbed" the circuit during his installation, not only his parts are not genuine Apple ones. Now, the iPhone problems are gone. The big disappointment is, Jason used to do a decent job in my previous transactions with him. Not only he did not come clean with truth this time, costing me more than two hundred dollars for his messy works and parts, He broke the trust. I will not go back there again. read more

I went back thinking they have diagnosed my tv. It was where i left it. Untouched. The labor plus parts came out to be almost 500 dollars. You can get a 65 inch samsung tv for that price. Very friendly and I'm sure they do good job with repairs when they can, but, when I brought my projector in to have the auto iris cleaned, they charged me $30 for an "estimate fee". I'm completely fine with paying a fee to investigate the technical issue (diagnostic fee), but this was not that. They didn't even open up the projector. They agreed that the iris needed to be cleaned and simply said it will be $190 (minus the initial $30) to do so. I figured it was a little too much for a cleaning so went to pick it up. However, they refused to refund the $30 despite not even looking at the equipment. Again, friendly locally owned business, it's just disappointing they keep a fee when no actual work was done. read more

Our built-in microwave broke--a design flaw that resulted in severed wires. No appliance repair business wanted to bother with a service call. Took the door off where the broken wire bundle was and drove over to Technopia to see if they could fix it. Right there the owner offered to solder the wires while I waited--couldn't believe it. It took less than 10 minutes and they charged me a surprisingly low fee. It worked. They saved us from having to buy and install a new $600 microwave. I'd encourage anyone to try and get their electronics/electrical items repaired here rather than just tossing and buying new. The repair they made lasted less than 5 months and the VCR/DVD is again non functional. However, maybe that's too much to expect for a 17 year old unit. Fortunately I was able to complete my family project, but it is disappointing that the repair didn't last long. The 3 month warranty on the work was just not long enough. Would I go back next time? Wow!!! Great service, and super friendly folks! I brought in a 55" tv that stopped working. I did sine research on the internet, and it sounded like it was the motherboard. So I took it to Technopia for a 1st opinion (my opinion didn't matter because I don't know diddly about fixing a tv). I left a small deposit to pay for the diagnostic, and received a phone call a few days later letting me know it was the motherboard. Not too costly, so I decided to fix it. The cost of the diagnostic was credited towards the repair, and all worked out fine. The tv is mounted on the wall in my livingroom, and works well. They even gave me a 90 day warranty just in case it messed up again; but it hasn't. I highly recommend them, and they fix more than just TVs. I saw microwaves, cell phones, old stereos, HUGE projector TVs too. He fixes it all it seems. He even gave me food for thought: these new TVs are made to last about 2 years. He had a tv that someone dropped off that was less than 1 year old. Go figure. The one I took was about 3 years old. Gotta love these manufacturers! Anyway, 5 stars plus from me!!!
