After bad experiences with Office Depot (coupons that don't actually apply to anything you can buy in the store except maybe erasers) and Best Buy (which I hope will go bankrupt and implode... not necessarily in that order), I have found Staples to be a breath of fresh air -- yes, rare for a large corporation. They have WONDERFUL customer service with employees willing to go above and beyond to help you find what you want (whether or not they carry it in their store). On 09/27/16 I went to the Mission Valley staples after work to have some convention badges I printed cut. They said they were backed up and couldn't do it until tomorrow evening and couldn't suggest some place else to go. So I took a chance and went to the Kearney Mesa Staples. They were super nice and did the job then and there. It took a while between customers but she (I didn't get her name) cut all 1000 badges. The young lady was cheerful, helpful and didn't get discouraged when she realized it would take longer than she thought. The rest of the crew were nice as well. I had time to test run many of their office chairs and will be returning after the convention to purchase one. Thank you to the evening crew and especially the young lady in the printing department for making a frustrating day end on an up note. You all rock! read more

The employees were super friendly. We came in on veterans day 2017 to send a fax. The guy with the cool hair in the marketing and printing section was SO nice. We used the self service fax but we overheard him helping other customers and he was the kind of employee you want. Then we went to the cashier, he was a young tall guy with braces. He wasn't very informed but that's not his fault. But he thanked my hubby fir his service, which is a little comfortable every time, but he offered a hand shake and I thought that was really fucking cool. I feel like the handshake is under utilized these days. Kudos to staples for the ppl they hire. read more

Made the mistake of buying the warranty on a wireless phone handset. Staples refused to assist me in the store. Told me to call a warranty phone number. So I did. After 40 minutes on the call - I was told to call the manufacturer. So basically - the extended warranty they sell - just like all the others - is a massive waste of money. read more

Adam and I stopped at this location because we were in the area and I needed something printed. The store itself is normal and you can get all of your staple office supplies (Pun intended). However, there is 1 staff member that pushes this store into amazing territory, Stephen. I was having photos for artwork printed and the way they came to me via e-mail but were showing in the body of the e-mail and not as an attachment. With the way they were forwarding, the pictures could not be printed. I tried many different ways to get the pictures to send properly and I couldn't. Stephen was super patient throughout the whole thing and even provided me with his personal e-mail address to send to him so he could try and see if he could get the attachments to send properly from his phone. In the end we figured out that if we sent the e-mail through the internet and not through an app, they would go through properly. After a long 30 minutes of trying to get it figured out, we finally had it! I honestly don't think I would have been able to figure it out without him helping me. I would have left, gone home to put the pictures on an USB and had to go back another day but I was so happy to be able to get my pictures that day! I purchased a staple on line with other items. I was in the neighborhood for lunch. I carry my returns in a bag in my car so if and when I have time I stop in and return/exchange the items. I was going to see my nieces and thought I would pick up some school supplies for them at the same time. I didn't have my receipt with me and asked if they would do an exchange as the stapler was still in the box and not working. The manager said since I didn't have my receipt he would give me 50 cents credit and wanted my drivers license number. I said no, you can look up my account on your computer. He said they don't have access to online accounts. read more

Oh, this gets better! So HP sent us a refurbished HP Photosmart eStation printer and it is not working either. It's this fancy little removable Zeen that is attached to front of the printer that you can search the web with that causes all the problems. Funny thing is when they sent me the refurbished printer they make you use the old Zeen from the bad printer. Who's to say that the Zeen is not the problem? My husband is an computer specialist and still he is having a hard time setting it properly and getting to work at it. HP is just as bad as Staples. They both suck! read more

Staples is honestly the answer to any business, school or office supply need. Robb in the printing and marketing department was so helpful and knew exactly what I needed to make my project complete. After I was told by 3 different businesses that my photo board couldn't be made without elaborate steps, Robb told me he knew exactly what I needed and it would take less than an hour. 10 min later he was done! Buyers Beware! Staples doesn't honor their extended warrantees. I paid $99 for a 2 year warrantee. I have been attempting to get them to honor it since 2008. A couple of months has past since they made an offer. I accepted & now no response. He made an offer then welched on it. I will now take them to court & sue for breach of contract plus punitive damages. It will cost them a lot more than $500. And I will now take this to the court of public opinion. I will be willing to provide you with a cost replacement of the product and the warranty in the form of a Staples Electronic Cash Card. I would not be able to refund any tax for this would not be considered a product return. This would be considered a cash out option under the insurance in which you are still obligated to pay taxes. I strongly discourage anyone from coming here to use their computer work stations. They charge $0.30 per minute to use their equipment. The issue is that you are limited to using a very slow Internet connection, and Internet Explorer. The Web browser constantly freezes as well as the OS. This leads to frequent rebooting, lost time and high charges with zero productivity. read more

I also purchased an extended warantee. The netbook spent most of the first year in repair. It was never properly repaired. The company refused to honor the extended warantee. Desired outcome: Replacement of the netbook as promised in the extended warantee that I paid for. Also a new extended warantee exactly like the one I purchased. Otherwise they will replace it with a used clunker & no warantee. I have not had use of the netbook bcs its been mostly in the shop. It has never worked properly. I do want to say that I gave them one star bcs the staff are really nice people. They tried to get the warantee honored. I used to do all my buying at Staples.The staff are always kind, courteous & go out of their way for the customers. Just don't buy their extended warantee. Its a ripoff! Update 3 years later & approx 15 emails, reports to BBB & I think Yelp turned it, (Thx Yelp) they finally paid me. Maybe I should have sicked Pacific Homeworks on them LOL. All paid up. Wayne in tech is always helpful if I need anything every employee knows where to find it really quick Nathaniel is always hilarious he cracks me up when I walk in and as he's checking me out. Mary is knowledgeable of the store and helped me find exacto knife blades. Rob is my go to guy for business cards and stamps. All in all staples seems to have a well rounded staff even though they always seem to be short handed. read more

Staples.com advertised a printer It was sold out online but said there was limited stock at the I called the Kearny Mesa store. I was told that they had it in stock . I drove to the store. I located the the printer in the store and walked the printer to the register. Their price was different from the website. I asked the manager to price match with the website. The manager refused to honour the advertised price. He stated that there was an error on the website . He then said he would sell me the printer for 89.00. What a nightmare and waste of my time. If you are looking to get copies made, it's best to go someplace else!! I've came twice to get what would only take about 5 minutes or less to get some documents printed and every time I was there I was told to that it would take several hours before they could get get around to making copies!! So I looked around me there was absolutely nobody in line waiting not to mention the copier wasn't in use!! Staples maybe good for office supplies but if you need copies and prints done. Printing at this store used to be easy. With a huge attitude I am told added 10.00 charge to have printed within the hour because there is an invisible line. No charge for the cup of attitude they gave me about the new policy. You just lost a 20 year customer, how is that for attitude. I went down the street to a UPS store where I was greeted with a smile, printed my flyers, and gave me a discount I didn't ask for. You think your store looks empty now, just wait. This is the worst Staples I have ever been to in my entire life. I took my son to go get some copies and some three whole punching to prepare a manual that I was making. I needed a couple of blank sheets of paper that were color. And the guy Steven who worked there acted as if I was asking for something alien. He was rude and I'm obnoxious and provided absolutely no customer service. He told me that staples doesn't sell sheets of paper by themselves. You will have to go buy a whole ream of paper if you want that. I thought to myself this guy is absolutely 100% not providing the service that his corporate would want him to. I come from the world of customer service and I strongly believe that you do everything that you can to help your customers. So although they may not sell individual sheets of paper he could have came to a solution instead of just being rude and telling me that youcan't get what you want. In less than three seconds I thought to myself why don't you just take a blank sheet of paper and copy that. Then just charge me what the cost of the paper is and 20 copies. Sounds easy? But no. Instead he went to the cash register typed in some fake information and had the nerve to tell me that 20 sheets of blue colored paper would be $12 and some change. The manager overheard us talking and tried to come and help but then instantly jumped to the savior of his employee without doing any research to make sure that when his employee was saying was accurate. Lo and behold I look at the register and see that what he entered was wrong. And what I suggested to input into the computer, which was the right pieces of information, gave me a price of three dollars and some change. Much better than $12 for 20 sheets of blank regular blue paper. This guy Steve was rude and gave me the vibe that had we were not inside of his place of work he probably would've punched me. Now granted I was a bit ticked off by the lack of customer service and my voice may have had an attitude. So I will acknowledge that. However this dude was legitimately rude, didn't care about anything that I needed, was absolutely not interested in solving the problem instead of creating one, and providing just overall basic humanitarian customer service. I will never in my life go back to the Staples because of the rudeness and unprofessionalism of its associates. I will say this, there was a lady but I'm unclear what her name was, was willing to help me without overcharging me. But then Steve interrupted her and stopped her from helping me, while already helping another customer, just to be rude and hate on my transaction. It's total ridiculousness. read more
