No one is ever at the Print & Marketing front desk area, although I see a man in the back office with the door wide open on his cellphone and legs reclining on a chair. Earlier I was told, " because you are not sending a pdf is the reason why your copies are not printing even though it has been over 10 minutes. I responded to another gentleman at staples "easytech" that the staples wifi is slow." The gentleman at Staples easytech said, "I do not have anything to do with Staples wifi." So it's been over 15 minutes since my copies are working on being printed on the self help workstation. No one to help. read more

Everyone is super helpful here. I was asked 4 times if I needed assistance and a couple times I did. Store is very clean and well stocked. Love the clearance areas. Be sure to sign up for their ink recycling program. The only draw back is the parking lot. Don't come around lunch time. Popular eateries. We had two interactions with Freddy at this store. This was by far the best experience we've ever had at any office supply store. Freddy was helpful (as in, "genuinely" wanted to help us find what we were looking for). He helped us make a decision on a pretty expensive office chair. Exactly one week later we saw the same chair at a different Staples store for a much lower price. The people at that store would not help us so we dropped Freddy's store. He called the other store to confirm the price and when they confirmed it he took care of us on the difference. If more people were like this in every industry the world would be a better place. The son who had the 9am appointment couldn't make it so I asked that the other son take the 9am slot instead. Great customer service from Kevin! I came in because my employer needed a new "PAID" stamp with our business logo on it. Kevin was very helpful with setting up the stamp on their computer to be created. He was also patient because I was having a hard time getting the logo downloaded and setting up the design. Had an appointment with TSA Precheck at 12:10pm. Made it early at 11:56am. Walked to the department and already seen a bunch of folks sitting down. I notice there are only 2 representatives. I see one younger guy (dressed like he's a street vendor... Nike kicks, long shirt, stained up cargo pants) and he seems to be taking clients in/out way quicker than the older gentleman. I have to ask others around me if we need to check in and I'm not the only one. Was told to essentially catch one of the guys as they're pulling new clients in and tell them we're on the list. By now it is 12:10, my appt time, and the young gentleman finally acknowledges our respectful requests to sign in. I was able to be marked checked in but sadly some others were turned away as they're appointments somehow expired just a few minutes back. Which is so unreasonable as I know they've been waiting to simply check in. The young worker checks me in and unfairly acknowledges the latest customer that arrived. Just so happen to have my same appt time. He gets chosen ahead of me even though I've been waiting for 15+ minutes already. What a horrible system they have going here. First of all the workers are extremely unorganized and on top of that they lack the customer service. So monotone and just unfriendly. I love this place! After Best buy was out off stock across San Diego for the hewlett power cord i was looking for, Staples was there for me. Wyatt, awesome guy that he is, spoke to me on the phone after only a brief hold time, and helped me lookup other power cords. They didn't have the HP exact power cord, but they had a universal one in stock that would meet my needs. he was kind on the phone and put the power cord on hold, so that it would be there when i came in. This review is for the TSA Pre services here. I am so angry I'm writing this review as I sit here. I made an appointment at 9:40, got here at 9:35 and waited for 10 minutes. The staff member here came out of his office at some point to call a name and went straight back in without giving a single minute to ask anything. As there were three people ahead of me, I stepped outside and came back at 9:55. He let someone out at 10:05 and I attempted to ask him when I can expect to be taken in, he rudely told me to stand outside. He took my husband in next, who had an appointment at 10:10 and again zoomed straight back into his office. After my husband came out, he again walked right past me and started calling a name and so I stopped him and asked when I can expect to be helped. He asked when my appointment was and I told him it was 9:40 to which he stated I wasn't here earlier when he had called. I told him I was here but he cut me off and said you're a walk-in now and that he'd help me after a lady who was also walking in. I told him I was here earlier than her but he completely ignored me. He just stated that he was going to take his break after the next customer. It is 10:50 right now. This is the rudest experience I've had with anybody and I feel like he is purposely trying to give me a hard time. For what reason, I do not know. The sign here says he goes to lunch in an hour at 12. We'll see if he "helps" me between his break and his lunch. read more

Extremely bad customer service by an employee by the name of Mei Lin. I came into Staples to get an 11x17 glossed picture printed out at 9:10 AM and asked Mei Lin to help me out. She told me to print it at the self-serve printer, which did not have the option to get a glossed paper. After confusedly inquiring about it, she told me that she will assist me in a second, and proceeded to cut papers instead, completely brushing me off and ignoring me. By the time I got my picture printed, it was already 9:40 AM. Mei Lin's unprofessional and incompetent prioritization of cutting papers over helping a customer caused me to be late to work. Do not come here for their printing services. I already knew that Staples is ridiculously expensive, but out of convenience I came to print a large number of color booklets and name place cards. Their one employee is slow and has no sense of urgency. He spent so much time with the man in front of me despite a line forming, waiting for his help. Their self service machine was broken and he tried to reset it multiple times. Nothing seemed to be working and everyone waiting was visibly irritated. Overall, this store is a mess and it's not worth it to come here. I wasted over half an hour here and left with nothing... ended up going somewhere else to get the job done. HORRENDOUS customer service - all I was trying to do was order a few stuff online and used the 1 Hour Pickup option for convenience. I was still at work, so when I was finishing up my order it gave me the option of adding an alternate pickup person. I entered my Husband's name on the form, and all it needed from him to pick up my order for me at the store was a valid ID. Easy enough right? No. He went to the store to pick up my order for me and the Customer Service rep AND Manager said they couldn't give my items to him because his name was not the name on the order - this is WITHOUT them even bothering to check their system mind you. Long story short, my Husband ended up walking out with the items I ordered.. and the Manager/Cashier looking like retards because they don't know what they're doing. TL;DR: His name was listed as being an alternate pickup person on my order receipt that the Manager printed out at the very end for him. The Manager tried to justify the error by saying it was a "new feature" in their store, but we all know that's utter BS too. read more

It's not often that I find myself in need of going to Staples but this time I had a work project I was asked to complete asap. I ordered 5 posters, 18'' by 32" on foam board, laminated. My shopping experience was great and so was the service. I emailed the artwork at 3PM and went to pick it up at 6PM that day. The staff was friendly and I was in and out quickly. I am so thankful to Robb for not only handling the project on time but also delivered super awesome quality. The staff was friendly, but good luck finding anyone in the store isles. As commenter Kev reported in early 2017 the store is almost always empty. I was there on a SAT between 6 & 7 and only 2 or 3 customers. ON A SATURDAY?! It will be closed within a year is my prediction. In March 70 stores, or 4.5% of its 1,600 remaining locations were closed. It closed 48 stores last year and has shuttered about 350 stores over the last five years. Too bad for those of us who occasionally need a good office supply brick & mortar store as opposed to waiting for an Amazon delivery. They also tried to sell me an office chair for $200 that was $130 on their website. What's up with that? (I did end up only paying $130.) read more

This was definitely not easy. Walked into this Staples a bit after 11am to look for a badge holder, I wanted to slip my insurance and registration in just in case I get pulled over I could just pop the glove open and not fumble around in there, doesn't seem too difficult a request right? So I walk in and immediately greeted by a young African American gentleman, seemed very nice. I went up and down most aisles in the supply side, I usually prefer looking myself before asking for help and finally decided I need help because I can't find these things. Right as I was thinking I need help this young Caucasian gentleman comes by and asks if I need help and I explain what I was looking for just as I explained when I started this review above. He says yeah we got that and proceeds to lead me to another aisle. Then points at plastic letter holders for like displays.....I said well no again what I want is a vinyl badge holder I can pop out real quick and hand to an officer if I'm pulled over. Relatively small I mean you know how big registration and insurance cards usually are yeah? He says oh ok I got it......walks me over to these oddly colored accordion folders you might store coupons in. At that point I said ok thank you and just ended the interaction as I was getting annoyed. Walked over to the counter and asked a young lady with huge holes in her ears and an Asian lady if they could help. They referred me to aisle 7 so I began walking down the front of the store looking for aisle 7.....couldn't find any numbers I thought I was losing my mind haha. Well turns out the aisle numbers are in the center aisles Couldn't find what I wanted but I did see lamination pouches and figured well I can use this and just staple them shut. I however did not need 25 so I walked back over and asked if they do lamination, she said they did and I asked if I could purchase an individual lamination pouch. Our phone sets aren't the newest at the office. These people were very obliging about our several returns. It's funny to me that this place is called Staples and I've never bought staples in here my entire life. In fact, I still have a box of staples from 20 years ago along with the stapler that came with it and both the box and the stapler were purchased at a thrift store. Well, enough about my 1960's stapler (I could go on.) I only go to Staples for odds and ends. I have never considered buying any office equipment in here. I simply stopped by to purchase some overpriced tape (both regular and double sided) and to walk around the store. I've always had a fetish for school teacher supplies so while I'm in here, I often stare in awe at the aisles of smiley face stickers and those seasonal paper cutouts that teachers staple onto bulletin boards throughout the school year. I always wanted to make my apartment look like an elementary school classroom, but I always shake off the urge to do so because I would feel like a creep doing "adult" activities in a place that looks that. To conclude, I prefer going to Office Depot for office supplies, but not the one in Kearny Mesa (that's for another review.) To me, Staples is the 7-11 of office supplies. Whatever you're looking for will likely be there if you need it, but you pay way more for what it is. And don't be fooled by their clearance tables, that's how they get you. They actually had the nerve to sell 2008 day planners for 50% and one of the planners was still $69.99 at half price. That's part of Staples' evil plan: they sell you a day planner at a discount and then charge full price for up-to-date refills. My husband told me that they should sell them for 70% off since the year is 70% over. read more

Last night I arrived at Staples hoping to get ink for my HP laser printer. Sadly they didn't have all the colors I needed so I went ahead and printed at the store since it was 8pm, they were closing in an hour and I had a 9am meeting. Both Luis and Aaliyah were VERY helpful. Over the top, best experience I've ever had. When Aaliyah helped me find ink and realized they didn't have what I needed, she suggested their self printer. The self-printer wasn't working correctly for my specific presentation so she had Luis come help. He took the time to help print out all four separate jobs that n the main printer and was very helpful. Thank you to both of you for making my experience wonderful. I was so stressed about not being able to have proposals for my meeting that slipped away with your assistance. I hope all Staples locations have wonderful employees like you. This is my favorite Staples in the San Diego area - I think because of its promixity to many companies in the Kearny Mesa area, it tends to cater more towards the corporate shopper, which means a well-stocked store with more selection. I shopped here frequently as a purchaser for my old company, and so know the layout pretty well. Today I was just picking up some supplies and dropping off an empty ink cartridge. If you do a regular amount of shopping here, definitely sign up for the Rewards program - we did that at our company, and we would regularly receive credit to spend on more supplies that we needed. Even as a non-corporate customer, signing up is not a bad idea, especially if you buy ink and toner for home use. The staff here tend to be pretty good, although sometimes they don't always have enough cashiers out at once (in the middle of the day, they typically only have one until more are needed). Finding staff to assist you find products is not too hard here, and their print and copy center has been useful to me in the past. read more

But most of the time if they don't have something in stock, then you're better off getting it shipped through their online program. I always go online to check to see if there might be any useful coupons as well. I can say that their customer service here is usually good. This is my go-to store for office supplies... specifically this location too. The store set-up makes sense, so everything is where you'd expect it to be... although everything is easy to find, I still find myself walking up and down the aisles drooling at all their cool stuff! The staff is fantastic! As I salivate through the aisles, there is usually a friendly, smiling employee nearby and asking if I need assistance... and they miraculously do this in a non-creepy way :) I will definitely be back here again soon. Oh, and shout out to the copy and tech center. Whenever I've needed their services, it has been prompt, professional, and complete!
