I tried to return a high capacity HP printer cartridge I had purchased a year or so previously. The cartridge had begun to leak and had leaked out the majority of the remaining ink. I talked to the manager and she said it must be my printer. I countered that the printer had never leaked ink before and the cartridge must be defective. Long story short she refused to take it back. It was an expensive XL capacity cartridge in the $42 range and after rupturing leaked the majority of the ink. I won't shop at this store again. read more

Went in to get help on printing out a 5x7 card for a recipe. I am not good on computers and asked the lady for help at the counter. She said she couldn't help me and that whatever I needed printed would have to be typed out already. I know that the copy and print lady could've helped me make something because I've had it done here before and I've seen them do something like this with other customers before. She couldn't even help me type up something that would've taken her maybe less than 5 minutes. There were no customers and she just showed me the worst customer service I've received in a while. I've been coming to this store since I was a kid and have given a lot of money to this store for me to be treated this way by an employee, I've also had a few run ins with the Manager mariane, she's the rudest lady I've ever come across, this store use to be focused on customer service when Michael was around now its purely all about how much money can they bring in. read more

I generally believe people are misinformed rather than dishonest. But in this case I really don't know. Had to make copies and there's no FedEx Kinko's around. So I do a search and find that there's a Staples nearby. I find the self copy area and the first thing I see is any card kiosk and it only takes cash. I go up to the guy at the counter and I ask him how do I use a credit card and make copies. He tells me I have to buy a copy card. While ringing me up I discover that I'm charge $.50 for the card. Well so it goes. Then I walk up to the copy machine and I find that it takes credit cards. I ask the copy guy so I could have used my credit card without buying a car. His response was "yeah you can." Now I have a copy card that cost me $.50 and there's money on it which I will never use. Congratulation Staples you made about three dollars off of me. But understand I will never shop at any Staples thanks to the staff at the Gilroy Staples. read more

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE and the manager doesn't want to be bothered. The employees are too busy chatting with each other and will not help when help is requested. I reported to the manager and she scoffed the whole time she helped me. The employees are not happy with their job, or should not be working in customer service as they have bad attitudes. read more

Lousy copy and print center! It never fails, I always spend minimum 1 hr waiting for simple services. To the extent possible, I use self service to minimize interaction with poorly trained staff. Usually I hear an excuse about the fact that they "normally" don't work in that area of the store or that the equipment is faulty. I don't blame the sales associates I blame their managers who leave them to fend for themselves. On several occasions I've had to instruct them on how to use the printer equipment and computers. Forget about submitting items online to "facilitate" the process - not going to happen. Staples Management get it together! read more

I've been going to Staples in Gilroy for about five years. It's not always perfect but the employees I came in contact with were helpful, eager to correct mistakes, friendly, and kind. I have to say on more than one occasion they surprised me with how helpful they have been. I've mostly come in for print services and have interacted with many employees. Even on a bad day I've experienced friendly customer service that has made a difference in my day. I would also like to mention the store is always clean and you can always find someone to answer a question for printer or help you find something. Excellent customer service, I've never had a problem that an associate wasn't willing to help remedy. I've never had to ask for a manager. Stay away from their one flat fee for service on your computer, they send it in without telling you what will or not be covered... Every time I come to this staples either one, or both machines are broken/down. There is never enough staff to assist, and they are to busy to come from behind the counter. About 50% of the time I have to go elsewhere to get my job done. Never again will I waste my time driving to staples only to find out that they're not equipped to handle my job. The ladies were always so friendly and helpful, but ever since the print center got an entirely new staff, I won't step foot in the place. They are incredibly rude, and completely unhelpful. We bought an Epson printer that was defective. My wife, a mother of 5, did not get it back to the store within the pathetic 14 day return window. Horrible customer service. I went in to go fax a few things and had my mask on over my mouth but not my nose. The first thing the lady behind the desk, who was quite large and had red hair, said "could you please put your mask over your nose?" And I replied, "no I can't because I can't breathe in too much carbon dioxide." She replied saying something like "well you're only defeating the purpose of this whole thing." Then she went back behind the desk to call the managers so she could cry to them that I didn't have my mask over my nose. The managers then came up to me while I was still faxing and said, "could you please put your mask over your nose?" I then replied the same thing as i did to red haired girl. She just rolled her eyes and I continued to finish faxing. I have never wanted to get out of a store so fast because of how fanatic they're following health protocols. Other stores don't even care but no, staples has to be dumb and make you feel unwelcome. Never coming back to this store. read more

Staples has set up a new system where it's no longer enough to pay for your purchase and take it home. Now they expect you tap in answers to stupid questions on their credit card reader (for example "Do you want your receipt emailed to you?") I'm standing there with a product in one hand and cash in the other (and they don't even have my email address, so they couldn't possibly email it to me). The manager informed me that if I didn't answer the questions on the screen then the purchase could not go forward. Apparently he is more interested in following mindless procedures than in customer service. read more

Mike, the manager, is fantastic! Knows his inventory and has built a wonderful team that is always helpful. We live closer to another Staples but go to the Gilroy store because of the service. If they don't have what I need, they get it shipped to our home immediately. Sky meets us many times as we arrive, takes us to what we need and makes sure we know how to work whatever electronic equipment we buy before we leave the store. On 2 different occasions now the Staples in Gilroy has told me that their printer is not working and they need to send my order to the Staples in Morgan hill. Normally this would not bother me even though I live 45 minutes away from this location. But what makes me upset was that they never sent my order to the staples in Morgan Hill in matter fact they didn't even start the order themselves. It had been over a week. They always say they will call you when the order is done, but they have never called me so I went there after giving them time to complete the order as always. However at this point they did not receive the order and when I spoke to the woman at the Morgan hill location she said that usually they tell them if the printer is out and she said it's more likely that the Staples in Gilroy was just behind on orders. Which also does not make since to me since whenever I am there picking up orders they are standing around chatting not working on prints. Mostly I'm just frustrated that I was lied to and that they did not fill my order and have sent me to a location more then once that's further away under these reasons. I was very annoyed to have gone an hour and a half (round trip) out of my way to get nothing and the traffic really didn't help my mood either.... The only reason I gave this staples 2 stars is because the woman in Morgan hill was very nice and helpful. I may order from them alone from now on simply because is seems Gilroy is unable to fill my orders or simply send them to the other store.... read more
