Took my 2011 iMac (i7 2600) in for a thermal paste job, hdd-ssd swap, and removal of optical drive. David sounded knowledgeable over the phone. Comparably to other computer shops in Santa Cruz, he took my request seriously and to the point. No extra packages or services pushed, canned air usage fees, etc. After dropping it off and some phone conversations, we agreed on a three day job, everything looked good after initial impressions with my machine from his end. David calls on Wednesday around 7pm, leaves no VM. I call back shortly and get his machine, left VM. I ended up calling him Thursday afternoon to check up on my iMac. When he answered, he brought up his inability to work on my computer due to his "insurance not covering the old computer." He then proceeds to offer the service of swapping the SSD (which I provided btw) and to Chuck away the optical drive for the same price he quoted me for the entire job. Translation: $189 for SSD install and unplug of the optical drive without the thermal paste job. I'd still be on the hook for the full price! David then proceeds to tell me he only quoted me for the thermal paste job, not the SSD or optical job, that'd be extra. Drove to his shop within minutes. read more

This guy is great. I took my computer in and we thought it had crashed because it nothing was working on it at all. I took it to him and charged me $29 for diagnostics and it turns out something was wrong that made it stay asleep and not wake up. Horrible, horrible customer service! I cracked my iphone screen for the very first time and had to get the screen replaced. I had noticed Computer Solutions while driving through town and decided to give them a try because I like to support small businesses when it's possible. When I arrived at Computer Solutions the woman at the counter was very nice at first, she told me to leave my phone there and pick it up in a couple hours. I stupidly paid for the screen replacement in advance because I knew I might be in a hurry later in the day when I came back (lesson learned, I will never do that again). When I arrived back at the store a few hours later I was told that she had attempted to replace the screen but was having technical issues and would need to order a different part. I took my phone with the cracked screen and agreed to come back within a week (or whenever the part arrived) to have the screen repaired then. I signed my phone back into my possession and left. Later that day I decided I would just get the screen replaced elsewhere (which was the same exact price, it's not like I found a better deal) and called for a refund from Computer Solutions. They said no, that they had already ordered the part (which they said they usually had in stock). Instead of just charging me for the part, they kept all of my money for the new screen, the part, and labor and unfortunately when I signed the phone back into possession the contract stated that the service was rendered, so I couldn't even fight the issue with my bank (even though they agreed that the company was in the wrong, the contract sealed the deal). The thing that really bothered me was the fact that they kept coming up with the most ridiculous reasons why they wouldn't refund my money- my favorite one: "We lost business because someone came in to get their phone repaired the same day and we had already promised the part to you when it arrived". No, you lost business because you don't keep enough parts in stock. I tried to call (I left messages and spoke with the woman in the store) asking if they would just charge me for the random part and refund me the labor and screen $$. They never returned my calls. Moral of the story: don't give this shady company business and definitely don't pay for the service in advance. EDIT TO REPLY TO THE RESPONSE BELOW: This is completely untrue. 1) I called and tried to resolve this before going to my credit card company. The owner never returned my calls and the woman that I spoke to was extremely rude and unprofessional. It was at this point I called my credit card company when it became obvious that this company wasn't willing to talk or resolve this issue. 2) I never told my credit card company that I didn't order that part. That is completely false. I was 100% honest with my credit card company. I wanted to be refunded for the service of repairing my screen and only be charged for the part. I never got the service I paid for, which is what I wanted refunded. read more

Very happy so far. I took my iPhone 6s here a month ago for a shattered screen, I called and they answered very quickly, I asked if I could bring it in and was told yes. I did and it literally only took him 1.30hrs and my phone was like new! I love that he had me check my serial numbers, and had us both test my phone when i picked it up! My phone has no lumps or lifted edges which was my biggest concern, sensitivity works great. He Seems very genuine. Its a small shop but the guy really seems to know what he's doing. I took my tablet for a repair and asked if he could fix it. the screen was shattered and the girl in the front desk told me to wait so she could look online for something. Im guessing she was looking at how to do the job for the guy in the back and she called him to look at what she was looking at and he told her in spanish to tell me in english that he couldn't do the job because he didn't find the parts to fix it. Well im mexican so im fluent with spanish so im not stupid. I did my own online checking before i went into the business and noticed that the screen was the only piece you needed and you could find it on ebay or any other website.
