I had a meeting in this part of town, and I needed some office equipment to make a presentation. I came to this Staples location in order to buy the items. I was not sure exactly which items I needed, as my main job (a hospital) already provided me with everything I needed on that site. Customer service was very slow to get to me. But once they came to talk to me, they helped me narrow down which of each item I needed. Once they got down to it, the workers made sure to give me accurate advice and to make sure everything was compatible with my laptop. I was in the area earlier in the day running errands, so I stopped in to drop off some new rental property notices to get laminated at Staples' Burbank location. Aside from Office Max (which also had a location in Burbank), I honestly couldn't recall any other office supplies brand. Although I was usually in the area for business and work, rarely did I consider this location because it wasn't as convenient as the primary location I went to in Glendale. Little by little, there were fewer office supplies I needed as I tried to streamline such things as much as possible. However, in this particular case, a new law was passed in L.A. City for all rental property owners to post a specific notice for all tenants to be able to see. With this latest intrusion of how to manage my family's business, was I easily able to get this task done at Staples!? PURCHASE Laminant Notices 8.5" x 11" ($1.99 x8): On top of L.A. City who forced rental property owners to now have to post these tenant notices at their respective building in plain view, they didn't even provide owners with said notices or protective sleeves. Therefore, I had to print the notices from their website and then had them laminated on my own dime. Thankfully, the cost was minimal. My Event Assistant arrived at Staples around 7:50-8pm and was in there for an hour trying to be helped. He was gathering last minute things for the event we were preparing for, while he noticed a customer was being helped. He noticed a customer being helped but that took some time. It's 8:45pm, we wanted Two 24" x 36" Signs and 6 regular prints. She said "they may not be able to do it since they're about to close". The time she was going back and forth with my assistant, the job could've been done. She just didn't want to do it. So we settled on 18" x 24" however it was still on regular paper. She sets me up on the computer and leaves. After finally getting everything on the screen, I realize they don't send to PO Box's so I ask the guy and he says they don't that I have to go to the actual UPS Store!! Went in to print something from an email. The older person at the desk had two younger employees with her talking. She asked if she could help me. The two young employees never looked my way. She sent me with verbal instructions to the printer as they continued to talk amongst themselves. As I was stumbling to try to print, I had to ask a lovely young woman who was putting shopping carts away if she could help me. She was kind and showed me how to input the release codes into the printer since I rarely do this. I'm not ignorant when it comes to technical things but it can be confusing. I asked one of the really nice employees if there's any way they can give me a slight discount because I've had to come back twice already for these items that are not working. I already am not happy about extended warranties sold to me, anyone who has ever googled such knows that... well let's just say a lot of people disagree with how honest that industry is about what they sell people on. But being publicly put on the spot four times, while the entire line watched, when I keep refusing, being spoken to as if I'm a recalcitrant child for not purchasing the extended warranty, that was just about the most unpleasant sales experience I can recall this year. I finally said "if I get told one more time that I have to buy this then I'm out of here." At that point I believe it would be the manager jumped in to rebuke me for not buying the extended warranty, so I got angry and walked out. Here's a tip: if I say I don't want your extended bloody warranty, and I say it three times, asking me a fourth time if probably not going to do anything but what you saw, a customer getting pissed off and walking out. I will never come to that location and as a business owner I'm not sure I want to deal with staples at all now, given that I do have other options. Tip for shoppers there: people who don't purchase the extended warranty do not seem to be welcome there, go elsewhere with your foolish plan to not buy the extended warranty. read more
