Stanton Optical is the best place to go for all your Optical needs!! I had a pair of old MK frames that I wanted to switch the lenses on which I knew would be pretty costly. After shopping around at countless competitors, it was Jay's exceptional customer service that persuaded me to choose Stanton Optical and their great pricing. By far the best service I have received anywhere!! read more

Definitely recommend! Very patient, friendly, and affordable! Some of the best frame selection to choose from for your glasses. And such a nice optometrist that was very quick! Was done within an hour. read more

We initially had a great experience with Sharon. She was knowledgeable and patient with us. Unfortunately, a few weeks later -- I saw my kid gently put his glasses down on the counter, and they cracked. I've never seen anything like that before. And then the next day his other pair did the same thing! My husband contacted them, went to their storefront, and asked for them to replace just ONE of the frames. According to my husband, the clerk was rude to him when my husband told him he wouldn't be paying for the replacement. I don't think we should have to pay for a replacement of cheap, sh*tty frames... especially since Sharon told us these were premium glasses. Really? read more

Had an exam by Dr. John Vinh on Saturday May 6th. He was very professional and knowledgeable, answered every question I had. The sales staff was great as well, helped me select glasses that best suit me and my budget. What a great team! read more

Genero was so helpful. Great prices compared to competitors and a great selection. Got two pairs of glasses a cleaning case for around 300 and received them in roughly a hour and a half. They know what they are doing here and I highly recommend! read more

This is the most unorganized eye place I have ever been to. I have seen 3 doctors in the last few months to get my contacts correct. I found them online for someone new to try. Big mistake!! read more

The staff at Stanton Optical are what Customer Service is, I was so impressed with them. The Optometrist spent time with my granddaughter and made her feel comfortable. Haley is a Rockstar! Make sure you see Haley! Cody leads his team very well It has been a long time since I have gotten a great experience, and a great product as well. I will always refer Stanton Optical! Thank you again and she passed her eye exam at the DMV thanks to the Dr. read more

Alright, well where to begin....i was recommended to come here by my father and I'm sure he's as upset as i am. I have held off my review(s) until i knew for sure whether they would make it right, but they didn't, so here we go! I went in for an eye exam for contacts and glasses, I paid half that day, which was $169, then paid the remaining balance a few days later when I picked up my glasses. This was all between July 18 and 25, so it's been awhile. The remaining balance was $167.44, which I paid with two $100 bills. Apparently, they have no record whatsoever this was paid. I either threw away my receipt, lost it, dropped it, etc, and because I wasn't smart and used cash instead of card, I have no physical record either. But here's a kicker, why do i have my glasses if I didn't pay? read more

Where to start! I was recommended from a family member about this location. First off , this place has nothing but top notch service! I was helped by Tiffany the manager and I got nothing but premium service. She knew exactly what she was talking about, she knew what was best for me, and the atmosphere in this store is just so comforting! This service & experience trickles down from the manager herself down to each employee. It's true what they say, you go back to places for the person. I would follow Tiffany anywhere! Definitely have a loyal customer & will be telling my friends about this location. read more

The best in San Diego! Everyone at Stanton Optical was friendly and professional and most importantly extremely helpful in catering to my own vision care needs. The offer of 'two eyeglasses for $69,'caught my attention. (I believe that was the amount. I could be slightly off so please don't quote me.) Alyse welcomed me and assisted me with the steps in the process. She definitely gave me some great advice as to how to get the best experience in selecting my eyewear. The appointment set, I returned the following week for the eye exam. This was extremely thorough and unrushed and I was provided with the best information for my own needs. Tiffany then went over the options for my pair of glasses, one being gratis for the cost of the first. I came away with two pairs of glasses with what I normally paid for just one. This is a great value and their two-year unlimited warranty is very cool if you should do any damage to your lenses. Make sure to ask your associate about these great plans. read more

okay the experience started off great got 2 pairs of glasses much more then what they advertise but hey what the heck they are cute so takes forever to get them finally get 1 pair awesome waiting forever for 2nd pair finally i get them and the bifocals are crooked guy trys to convince me my ears are crooked so i go home and you can clearly see the bifocals are crooked take them back its been over 2 weeks have not received them yet call today and after being hung up on twice after 10 minutes im told the lady will get back with me im not very happy to say the least read more

This place is awesome! Took my partner here for his bday. We were curious about the 2 pairs for $69, but it wasn't our taste so we branch out to something more decent. Despite the price, you still can get another one for same or less price for free. There was a $45 dollar charge, but they minus it after they upscale you and figured out what is the best package, due to the thicker lense and bad vision my buddy has, we ended up paying $427 total. Pretty good experience, free eye exam, Marc was really good at framing what is good for you, all the optical staff really focus on your eyes, as we observed. They place dots mark on your sample frame lense to mark where your pupils are. Amazed by friendly staff and professional service. read more

I'm giving a five star rating to Stanton Optical Grossmont location. Specifically to James and a very cool Dr. Ratner. I had called that day for a same day appointment and went in for an advertised special: buy one pair of frames and include a second pair for free, with an eye exam. Quite a special! I arrived early to try to select frames. With walls of frames to choose from, I was given and needed a small tray to carry selections with me. Before the appointment time, I was called for preliminary evaluation. I was surprised to be tested for glaucoma with the puff-of-air test and a refractory test to automatically estimate my prescription. Then a very cool Dr. Ratner finished up the examination with a prescription for 20/20 vision. He also diagnosed the beginning of a cataract. Aside from not having my eyes dilated, it was an excellent value (free exam actually meant the $45 charge would be subtracted from the price of frames and lenses). So far, so good. Now with prescription and frames selected came the hard part. Selection of lens material, coating, tinting, progressive, transitions...etc. I was shocked to see the preliminary total! Even for two sets, it was not affordable. James looked everywhere and negotiated management discounts in addition to the special offers resulting in excellent value. 5 stars to James! I ended up with two pairs of glasses. The first, Izod frames, ultra premium polymer progressive lenses, w hard coating. The second, sunglasses with same prescription progressive and polarized grey lenses. All for slightly more than one pair from Kaiser! So, I hope the product is what is expected. We will have to wait to see. read more

My brother needed a new pair of glasses ASAP. He is a long haul truck driver and broke his glasses while visiting me in San Diego. I called Stanton Optical spoke to Tiffany Doan who is the manager. Tiffany is so helpful, great personality and professional. My brother was seen in a hour and got his glasses the same day. Thank you Tiffany. read more

The people who work here are very nice! A bit uninformed on information or how to do things there but are very nice. However, they messed up pretty badly on my glasses. I came in and did an eye exam, picked out glasses, paid (was told they would come in 1 to 2 days but that ended up being 2 weeks), and left. But when I came to pick them up I felt blind in them. I told the lady who was helping me that they felt wrong and she told me to give it to around the end of the week before I come back in. I ended up having to come back because nothing was getting better, I couldn't see correctly. Turns out after a little while of investigating, the worker who put in my order typed in the wrong numbers from what the doctor had prescribed me. What sucks is that my eyes could have been damaged from that completely wrong prescription. And what was supposed to be a 1 to 2 day process from what I was told, turned into a 3 week ordeal read more

I went in for an exam. The optical equipment would not sync with the online doctor. They asked me to come in on Wednesday when the actual optician was in. They said they would give me a 20% discount. The optician was very nice. I rec'd notice that my glasses were ready. I used my own frames for sun glasses and reading glasses. When I went in to get them, they had put the sunglasses lenses in the wrong frames and visa versa! The clerk told me they would add a special tint at no charge and would put a rush on them. A few days later I received an email saying they were ready for pick-up. When I went in they looked all over and could not find them. Then they told me the notice I received must have been from the first time. I waited a couple of weeks and I received no more notifications. I called them. They said if I was checking an order to go to the web site and pick "check order." I found no such option on their web page. Finally I called from a card they had given me and reached a real person. They checked and both pairs were in. When we're they going to let me know? This has been one of the most exasperating experiences I've had in years! I will never go back to them! All together, I went back five times before I retrieved my glasses and was without any glasses for about a month and a half! read more

I had an odd experience.. I was greeted nicely although of course everyone was coming up about buying glasses (which I wasn't in for) I was there to get an over due exam (and had never been to Stanton before) get my prescription and go home to order online how I've always done. My appointment I had made 3 days prior for 2:45. I got there at 2:20 and got done at 5:30. HOOOOW SWAY. Definitely my visit wasn't very professional. Apparently it was a pediatric eye doctor that was taking over but for the letters I couldn't see kept saying "no incorrect try again" like uhhh I can't see it. Let's start there. And then she kind of went off on me not knowing what contact brand I had been using and rushing saying she had a charity event to get to. Once I finally got to paying the guy was calling my insurance on speaker loud enough that everyone was staring and asking how I like different glasses on him. I just don't know about this place. I would probably go somewhere else. read more

I called about the 2 pair deal and told the man - don't know his name - that I had my prescription in hand and just wanted the glasses. I was getting 2 different prescriptions so I would get 4 pairs in all. He pushed me to make an appt. which I did for the next day. I had stressed that I needed the glasses same day and he said no problem. When I went in, it felt like a bait and switch, or maybe he just wasn't listening to me. I was shown the inexpensive frames and was told it would take a few weeks to get them done. They had nothing in the inexpensive range that could be done same day. I headed to Eyeglass world in El Cajon and got my glasses same day, bigger selection of inexpensive frames and everything perfect! read more

Horrible Customer Service. First off, the thing the ads on TV don't tell you is; if you need Bi-Focal (Progressive) this is going to cost you $407 for that package, a far cry from the $59 they are advertising. The $59 is for a basic frame, nothing more. It will cost you additional to get Anti-Glare Coasting $89. I still got my glasses there because, it was still a good price, but the Customer Service is probably the worst I have run into in years. I order my glasses, one pair for normal wear and then the other I picked out frames to have made into Sun Glasses. I received several calls from a Scam Number - which I did not answer at first, when I finally did answer, turns out that was Stanton Optical. I pick up my first pair of glasses and they said the others would be in their office in a few days. I received two more calls saying my glasses were in, so I dropped by the office. I was told my glasses got broken in transit and it would be a few more days. 2 days passed, and Daisy called and asked if I had ever received my glasses, she said she would call me the next day. I called the office when two days had passed. Again, I was given the excuse that my glasses had been broken again and it would be a few more days. On week three, I was fed up after several phone calls, being put on hold and disconnect and told that the Manager would call me. I went into the office and spoke to the Manager Hilary, who was very nice and apologetic, but again, my glasses were not in. She showed me how they had been shipped to their office with only Glass in the lenses and I would get them the next day. Finally, I got my Glasses. My original visit was 8/3 and I picked up my Glasses on 8/22. I am happy with the Glasses finally received, but I would not recommend the Stanton Optical to others. read more

After going to another well-known optometry chain, I was left with glasses that were expensive and didn't meet my vision needs. I had a big webinar that I was delivering in 2 days and had to find glasses that I could see clearly out of, looked good and didn't reflect the glare off my computer screen! The folks at Stanton Optical were fantastic - quick, easy, very friendly and professional. They also gave me the perfect glasses at a good price that same day! I will definitely keep coming back. read more

One of the best Eye Exam experiences ever!! I stopped in on July 29th just to take a look. The Staff was friendly and helpful. Good selection of eye-ware, would have liked more Designer choices. I was able to find 2 pairs of glasses I will enjoy wearing. Dr. John Vinh was wonderful! Very professional, personable and knowledgeable, explained things in a way that was easy to understand. I didn't feel like I was being rushed through my appointment (also, easy to schedule). After my exam, the process to purchase new glasses was straightforward and quick. It helped that i picked out glasses before my appointment. I highly recommend Dr. Vinh and the Team at this Stanton location. read more

I have to say I'll give this a split review me and my wife went in to order glasses, and by the time it was all said and done it was a whopping price of over $450, not to mention it took forever to get our glasses in. I went to speak with the manager who is Allison and she was very helpful and understanding, I had explained to her the situation including the problems that I was having with the phone center or their customer service line which by the way it's probably the worst I've ever had to deal with, she listened to my complaints and offered to give us free sunglasses which were prescription glasses, my glasses turned out to be fine but my wife's had a problem and the lab manager took it upon herself to attempt to correct the problem which I felt all three managers did their best to try to solve my issues, the problem with Stanton Optical is that their customer service line is made up of people, who I feel don't have any experience in either dealing with customers or any experience in the eyeglass industry, we're still having to wait for my wife sunglasses to be finished and the whole process started roughly just before Christmas, I have to say all in all that it hasn't been a very good experience. read more

I was beyond impressed with the entire staff at Stanton Optical in La Mesa. I had called in earlier in the day and was able to make an appointment for that same day for an eye/contact exam! The optometrist was amazing and very sweet. I'm really not kidding when I say every person I came into contact with was so pleasant to work with. I got a great deal on a new pair of frames and 6 months of contacts. They had my prescription lenses in stock and my frames were ready next day! My contacts also came in very fast which was nice but they do give you that trial pair so there's really no waiting! I would recommend Stanton Optical to my family and friends over and over again! I tell everyone I know that they should get their eyes checked as it is SO important and LIFE CHANGING when you are finally able to see clear again! 10/10 would recommend. Joseph was amazing on getting me good deal on my frames, lenses and contacts. He was very personable and customer service orientated! If you've read this review this far, your mind should be made up. These guys (and girls) are amazing! Not only was the doc super friendly and informative, but the staff was incredibly helpful. I was able to get three pairs of glasses for the price of what I would normally pay for one, and the cost of the check up was waived due to my purchasing frames and lenses. I highly recommend this location. I've worn glasses for 32 years and I've never been happier. Love my frames, love the deals, love the staff. read more

Very poor service!! Don't ever go to do any eye wear with this company. Went for a 2 for 69 and free eye exam but came out with getting charged $ 45 for the eye exam and then the glasses for 2 for $69 are the worst brand of glasses. Went to appointment at 1:50 for my 2 pm receptionist said oh the doctor got a flat tire and won't be here for another 30-45 min said it's fine I was seen at 2:45. Doctor came in and said sorry for being late he had a late lunch haha so don't know who was lying!!! Examined my eyes and didn't tell my results and told me to step outside and that they will give my prescription in the front!! Went to get glasses and of course the ones I choose were not the sale and the rep told me don't worry I can work with it. When I did do all the choosing came out to be 200.00 for 2 reading glasses. Then I asked why you charging me for the exe exam oh we will take the $45 exam off so I ended up paying 150.00. Came back after 3 hours to get my glasses and tried them on and weren't the right pres and then was told the doctor that was here today was a stupid doctor n he doesn't know anything. Wow he told me did he tell you anything about your prescription I said no. So told me to make another appt with a great doctor and he will fix it.. Cody told me to take a pair of sunglasses for all my trouble for free. the glasses were very blurry and can't see close for what I went in for.. Cody manager very rude and unprofessional!! Went the next day for another appt but the doctor never looked into my eyes and said this is right but never took care of the problem. Went the 3 rd time to return the glasses and all Cody the manager all he was worried about was my free sunglasses he gave me for my troubles!!! Well that's not a problem I didn't use them anyways but, I took back glasses I could not use and wouldn't fix for me to use n then they ask for the sunglasses back right away! As if my troubles were nothing to them after all I went threw!! Wow! Spoke to Cody to get my refund for my eye exam of $45 since it wasn't correct he said nothing he can do. I told him that's not right customer service he didn't seem to care. I told him you were so fast to take the sunglasses but not make your customer happy. I didn't get the right eye exam gave me the wrong pres and had to pay for it wow that's bad customer service. I want 3 times to them and nothing to reimburse your customer that didn't get the right eye exam.. I urge you not to be taken in to this location because it's false exams and employees lying to you about reasons why the doctor is late.. very horrible service. I would give no stars if I could... read more

The glasses are transitions. The first glasses had the best vision spots in the wrong place, I had to tip my head down to see properly for distance. I had gone there before with my husband, but my husband didn't end up buying glasses there. However, I told someone about Stanton Optical because from the time we went, it seemed like you can get discounts in different ways. So it seemed like a better option for my friend. Called and made an appointment for my friend and was told by the lady on the phone about getting a 15% off and tgat she would put it on ny friend's profile. We get to Stanton, and things are going fine. Im not sure if it was the manager, but I told him that I had gone there before and that I told my friend about the place. So he told me that for referrals they give free transitioning! Cool, that sounded good! After the exam, my friend and I got helped by the manager in training. (I had to translate for my friend who spoke spanisb, so I was the middle person) Pretty soon the price was at over $300! I told the manager in training about the 15% discount. He couldn't find it on the computer. Told him about the transitioning for referrals, and that was fine. Then later he got more technical and asked if I had bought something there, um, nope. But REGARDLESS if I had bought something or not, I BROUGHT THEM BUSINESS. Later, I guess the manager or the person he had to go through to approve came by and changed his attitude after he knew I hadn't bought anything there. So he goes through the pricing and cuts things off. Take off this, take off that, and puts my friend in the basic pacjage - ok that's fine, its a cheaper package. But his attitude was like forget you, I ain't giving you anything. On top of that he told me he's never heard about the 15% off. I had to call the call center again, and the lady was nice enough to put her supervisor on the line to speak to the manager or whoever he was. He goes off and then returns saying they are going to put the 15% off right now. They give my friend the 15% off, but not the transitioning, which was a deception. The man that had to approve the price or manager then came over and approved, was quick, put it to 204 even without the change, and upgraded my friend to the polycarbonated package. For a moment I thought he had upgraded her to the transitioning effect, and we were all happy. Later to find out it wasn't At least it was the better package, but common, I brought you guys business. That is money that your busineess wouldn't have had had it not been for me. Why not honor the transition upgrade anyways? The beginning and end were fine, but the in between where price, discount, and the upgrade were on the line wasn't that good of an experience. Ordered single vision glasses at the Santee store the last week in July, never received notification that they were in. Two weeks later I called and was told they had come in a week ago. So much for giving them your phone number. The prescription was not so different from what I had been wearing but the tech told me that it would take a week to get used to them. After a week I went back because both pair were unwearable and was told by another tech that the lenses were not of good quality, the measurements for my pupils were off and the lenses had to be remade.Three weeks later I call the Santee store, and three people later I am told that my glasses are not ready, despite the automated system saying that my glasses are in the Santee store. I called the La Mesa store thinking maybe they were sent to the wrong place. And again three people later (each time I have to tell the same story) I talk to someone at the La Mesa store who calls the Santee store, I am on hold and then told that the Santee store will call me within the hour. No phone calls. I call La Mesa back. Three people later the La Mesa tech says to hold he will call the Santee store because he sees my notes but does not understand who wrote them and how this has become a bigger problem than it should be. I am disconnected. Call the La Mesa store again, and while on the phone with them, get a call from the Santee store, the glasses have been in Santee for the past two weeks, no one has called me. They apologize for the two times today telling me my glasses were not in when there were. They apologize for not calling me to let me know my glasses had arrived the first time, and again the second time. They apologize that my single vision lens were made incorrectly and that it was unfortunate. Getting glasses should not be this difficult. Five phone calls in one day and so many people later is beyond ridiculous. Bad, very bad, terrible customer service. And I still don't know if my glasses are wearable because now it is too late in the day for me to pick them up. read more

Everyone on the staff at the Grossmont office was great. Dr. Vin, the Optometrist was the best I've ever had. Heather, Joseph, James, and the Optical lab manager Martin were outstanding. My mom told me this place had a good deal so I decided to come in which I'm glad I did. Immediately James came and greeted me and I flat out told him " I work at 4 and need my glasses done within the hour" he immediately took me shopping. I liked James because he was genuine about the glasses. He told me if the glasses made my face look too long or too harsh. I really appreciated that because I would be so upset if I went with a pair of glasses I didn't truly love. James also hooked it up in price. I only had $197 on me and he hooked it up with 2 pairs and glare protection on both! He was fun and goofed off with me and was a good sport with my pickyness. Their designer brands were also nicely priced so I didn't feel guilty looking in that area. The price wasn't the only amazing thing though, he hooked it up with so many perks (ill let him tell you the perks just know that ive never been hooked up so nice) for when I come back. They want you to come back and James will make sure you want to! Definitely stop in and ask for James! read more

I just want to say hat's off to Dr. V and his staff. When I walked into Stranton Optical, I was welcomed like family. Samir, with his deep Welcome to Straton Optical how may I be of help. I was blown away. Not many places have the enthusiasm of customer service like Samir and the rest of the help there. I was helped by the assistant Hali, getting me ready to see Dr. V. Now Dr. V has such a great sense of humor, made me even more of the at home feeling. This was a great thing. By the time I was done with Dr. V, Samir had at his table a bunch of glasses that I might be interested in. I told Samir what I was thinking and he just about read my mind to the frame that would work for me. Now that's customer service. Needless to say, I only wanted 2 pair of glasses. One being sun and the other regular reading glasses. The price point was a heck of a savings, so I ended up getting 4 pairs because of the savings. Again, that's customer service. Rest assure, my family and friends will hear about you guys, because I tell everyone. Kudos to you all and thanks for the great service and the quick turn around time in getting my glasses order to me. Extremely satisfied. read more
