I had an incredibly frustrating and unprofessional experience at LensCrafters, and it was a complete waste of time. A few days before my appointment, I came in to ask questions about my insurance and options. One employee was genuinely helpful and told me I'd receive $200 off my contacts if I purchased glasses. That information was the main reason I chose this location and scheduled my appointment. When I returned for my actual visit, the tone was immediately different. The front desk was dismissive, and once I was taken back, the majority of the staff was flat-out rude. The employee who originally helped me wasn't there, and every interaction after that felt like I was inconveniencing them just by asking questions. To be clear, the doctor and the male technician were the only positive part of this experience. They were both kind, professional, and genuinely helpful. Unfortunately, everyone else I interacted with completely overshadowed that. When I mentioned the $200 promotion I was told about, the staff acted like I made it up. They questioned how I "heard about it," then openly talked badly about their own coworker to me, saying she's "really old" and often gives incorrect information. That was extremely unprofessional and uncomfortable, especially said in front of other customers. Instead of trying to help or clarify, the staff seemed to gang up on me. I was there with my mom, and neither of us felt respected. Getting basic answers required far too much effort, and no one showed any interest in actually helping. To make matters worse, when I finally tried to order glasses, I was told I couldn't get the frame or the color I wanted. When I asked if they could check availability at other locations, they said they couldn't do that. No alternatives. No solutions. Just dead ends. I already don't enjoy going to the mall because the environment feels rundown and stressful, so for me to make the effort to come in and be treated this way made the experience even more frustrating. Between the misinformation, rude behavior, and complete lack of customer service, this location is not worth your time. If you plan on using this company at all, do yourself a favor and go to another location. For what it's worth, Roger the manager was polite, but the behavior of the rest of the staff needs to be addressed, it's a clear reason why this location loses business. read more

I went in for an eye exam and was told the exam was free w/my insurance. They mentioned something about $39.00 for refraction exam, but I never agreed to it. When I was at the register, they said I owed $39.00. I told them I never approved of it was explicitly quoted to me. They said, "well the job was done and you need to pay for it." I'm going to continue escalating this issue since I never agreed to it and I don't appreciate being strong armed to pay for it. read more

Arrived for a weekday morning eye exam appointment. The mall barely opening. Most folks are either stuck at their day job or not even awake, so there's plenty of up front parking. Well, other than the sporting goods store, this corner of Parkway Plaza has far less traffic congestion. The appointment went smoothly. Before seeing the optometrist, I sat at a few machines to check eye prescription and get eye images for the doctor to review general health. That slight puff of air on my eyeball always catches me by surprise. Next stop was with the optometrist in the other office for the traditional eye exam: * reading eye charts * answering "Which is clearer...1 or 2...now how about 3 or 4?" * looking off into the distance while doc uses a flashlight to check for eyeball abnormalities. After the exam, a friendly sales rep helped fill the eyeglass frame order with my current prescription. I'll wait for the call when new glasses are ready. In the meantime, I need to send the receipts before FSA reimbursement expires. read more

When we picked up the glasses they were handed to us, and that was it. They used to sit down with you to make sure they fit correctly and adjust them as necessary. I had a really disappointing experience at LensCrafters in Fletcher Parkway Mall. The customer service was terrible--especially from Christina. From the moment I picked up my glasses to the moment I expressed that I wasn't happy with them, there was zero effort to make me feel like a valued customer. When I let Christina know I wasn't satisfied, instead of offering to help me find a better frame, adjust the fit, or suggest a solution, she was immediately fine with me just returning them. There was no attempt to keep my business or even show basic concern. It was clear she didn't care whether I was happy with my purchase or if I ever came back. On top of that, I had to call them myself to find out my glasses were ready--no one bothered to notify me. When I finally got through, another employee told me my glasses had been sitting there for two to three days. I brought this up with their manager, Roger, but I have no idea if he addressed it with his team. If he did, it clearly didn't make a difference, because this level of customer service is unacceptable. Beyond the lack of professionalism, the overall attitude in this store is just miserable. The employees look like they hate their job--and life itself. No smiles, no enthusiasm, just long faces and a total lack of energy. It makes for an unwelcoming experience. UPDATE*** I broke down and contacted LensCrafters. I figure I paid hundreds of dollars for the glasses so I shouldn't just let it go. They were very nice about it and told me they left me messages (I never received any messages or I obviously would've gone to get the glasses so who knows) They gave me the new lenses to try for at least 2 weeks. They have to go back as they are not progressive or bifocal. I can only see distance with them and I need them for work and reading. Have an appt Monday so we will see what happens next ‍ read more

Sad to say that today I went back to the store that sold me my glasses and the customer service was not 100%. I think service is better on the East Coast. I accidentally called Chicago where I received service in 2018 and they were so empathetic towards me and apologized for the service I continue to receive on the west coast and said that's not the LensCrafters way of doing business. I've gotten glasses from LensCrafters my whole life and never had an issue until I came to this El Cajon store. I should have known when no one greeted us when we walked in except to tell us to "hurry because they closed at 6" (it was 5pm and the website says they close 6:30 pm). The lens axis were off on both sets so I couldn't see out of the glasses when I picked them up. The gal said to just wait until my eyes adjusted. I ended up going to the LensCrafters in Fashion Valley afterwards and they found the mistake and were way more professional and helpful and nice. I'm glad they're fixing the glasses but they should have been right the first time. As someone with a strong prescription not having my glasses work has been a nightmare. read more

Don't waste your time and money at LensCrafters. They gcost me $250 when my insurance covers most of the cost. The person that helped me had no transparency about how she reached this cost. I needed the glasses so I paid for them anyway. They told me if I get a second pair, I would get 50% off. But when I went to get a second pair they said that is only for the frame. They have very limited frames and everything is overpriced for the quality. I went to Costco and without insurance I gladly paid $110 for the frames and lenses for a better quality and service and it was straight forward transaction. read more

I've used LensCrafters for years, and today's visit inspired me to sign up for Yelp. If I were rating solely based on the Doctor and his support staff I'd give the store a 5. They were professional, knowledgeable, and personable as always. As for the glasses end of the store? Up until my last two experiences, LensCrafters has always been solid. The staff have been knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, and willing to answer questions about different options/coatings/lenses/contacts. More recently, that hasn't been the case. I've been comfortable paying the LensCrafters convenience-premium for years, but after today I think I'll forego the convenience and start paying less money for better service from people who like their job. read more

My friend and I both went for new glasses. The staff was warm and courteous, they served us both together. I had a bit of an issue with the pair I chose and I requested a return. They couldn't have been more accommodating, helped me determine a new, better suited style, and the entire transaction was flawless. I just put my new glasses on again this morning and couldn't keep singing their praises without submitting this review. I will never go back here again I'm sorry. The eye doctor was great but most of the employees here definitely absolutely dread their job and have no idea what they're doing. I ordered 12 months of contacts instead of 6 months after being convinced it's a better deal. I get a call that they're ready but I only got ONE set which was strange. I drove all the way there for a single pair. I thought ok that's fine, mistakes happen. I then get another call that they're ready. I get 6 months worth of contacts. I thought, ok maybe the remaining 6 months are just not ready yet. I wait weeks and weeks and no update. I have to call them and then they tell me that that I only ordered 6 months worth. I was very confused and told them no, I ordered 1 years worth. They told me I had to physically come to the store (again) for whatever reason to dispute this. I'm sure they were just hoping I wouldn't come in so they wouldn't have to deal with me. So anyway I go in, and the lady at the front just is making me feel like Im making this whole thing up like I'm trying to steal from them. I just wanted what I paid for! After enough bothering she finally places another order for the remaining 6 and eventually I get them, again several weeks later. What should have been one easy visit to pick up my contacts turned into 3 visits and a huge hassle. Very poor customer service and I recommend nobody go here. Two thumbs down read more

LensCrafters at this location, is dishonest and deceitful. When I called and asked LensCrafters if they took VSP they said yes they did but after I brought my new lenses. I found out that the part of the insurance they used us my out of network insurance. Did not tell me that I was out of network before I purchase my lenses. When I call be to ask them about it they basically told me it was actually insurance, whether it was out of net work or not. Which is a bunch of BS because when they look it up, it tells them whether I'm in network or not sister store to the one in El Cajon and they were upfront about everything and this company in El Cajon shady. The Dr was nice . I had been to him a few years before & THEN I was able to ask questions & get opinion on what would be best for me. He was fast & efficient and very good. BUT THIS TIME the "sales ladies" quickly ruined this latest visit for me. I will have to find another place to get re-examined & get what I need. I will NEVER GO BACK TO THE PARKWAY PLAZA STORE after the ladies came at me RELENTLESSLY like hyenas trying to steal a kill. GEEZ!! I worked at Nordstom for years & I NEVER hounded & pressured anyone the way that PACK was coming after me & I was always in the top 5 in the dept for sales. YOU DON'T EVER treat customers like that! AS SOON as I got there, I went to sit down & wait for the exam & was told I to go browse around the glasses by 3 different ladies. I said I wasn't getting any today, I am just getting my exam. BUT not one of them stopped there. I finally got up & walked around one of the glasses displays, BASICALLY to pacify them & make them stop. Thankfully it was time for the first part of my exam so I went to the exam room. AFTER that , I waited for 2 minutes for the Dr. & I got YET ANOTHER "invitation" by not 1 but 2 salespersons to GO LOOK AT THE GLASSES, there are GREAT SALES going on". Seriously? I walked past a counter quickly so they would leave me the H3LL alone. Thankfully the Dr was ready & I went in with him, but by that time I was so ticked off I just wanted to get done & get out & didn't get to really ask the Dr what I wanted to ask. I was having issues with my RX & I needed somethngs changed but I was SO FRUSTRATED & ANGRY I didn't want to stay & spend anymore time there. AS SOON as I walked out of the exam room they started in again. I kept telling them I AM NOT GETTING GLASSES TODAY but they kept on with their "OH but the designer frames are 60% off!!" LIKE I CARE. I have NO desire to pay exhorbitant prices of designer anything, even for 60% off. THE SALE IS ONLY TIL __, THE PRICES ARE REALLY GREAT! I said again, I am NOT getting glasses today. I finally told one woman, REPEATEDLY, I am waiting for a check, "OH but the SALES are really good right now", I am WAITING FOR A CHECK. ( it is none of her business it was a Social Security check!) I said I just want to pay, & I have UNITED HEALTHCARE discount. She said OH you have UNITED? Then the "boss" asked if I had triple A or AARP as well, I said, YES but I wanted to use my UNITED health. She grabbed the Triple A card & said she would use that, it was probably cheaper & rang me up. I was SO DISGUSTED I just signed it and walked out. LATER I found out she CHARGED ME $96 INSTEAD OF MY $50 amt I was supposed to pay!! she RIPPED ME OFF FOR $46! another $4 & I could have had ANOTHER EXAM SOMEWHERE ELSE & NOT PUT UP WITH THE BS from this place. Soooo...I've been coming here for 3 years straight and everything has always been good until this time. I went here on 1/15 and my appointment was at 3pm. My eye exam was fine, the doctor is fine, service is fine nothing special. My insurance covers my eye exam for free and I get $150 off any frame I choose. That being said I always try to pick a frame as close to the $150 as I can. When one of the girls rang me up she said okay it will be $139. And I said okay no problem because in my mind the $150 was going to cover it. So I ask just in case and I say what exactly is the $139 for? She says for your glasses and I say but I get $150 off right and she says that's already taken off...so I said okay help me understand why the total is $139 I've been coming here for a few years and I almost always pay nothing. She says that's the cost of the glasses. I say okay let call my father I'm not too sure if this is right. While I'm on the phone with my dad she says well I can bring it down to $16 but that's just for the plastic and the doctor doesn't recommend that. PLASTIC?? Was that her selling point? She also said well these would take up to 2 weeks and the other ones will be ready in a hour. (Mind you, I got my "plastic" glasses ready text the NEXT day)..I finally realized she was applying all of the add ons to the glasses without even asking me!! Previous employees would show me what they have to offer and if I want to add something I will but you can't just tell the customer yeah it's $139 without even explaining the charge ?!? Maybe I would've bought some add ons if you were honest!! Sorry. You lost me as a customer for you lying and being deceiving. Based on previous reviews here on yelp seems like you've always been slimy. P.S. I broken my frames early Sunday morning, and I went to LensCrafters in Parkway Plaza El Cajon for a replacement. I had bought the replacement warranty, but my current frame had been discontinued. Optician Stefani Ann lookup up my information and told me that my insurance would cover another pair, and and she could find another frame for the warranty at another location. My new glasses were made the same day with transitions lenses and AR, and I was able to pick up the frame replacement at the Otay location. Everyone was so nice, professional, and efficient. I've been coming to the Parkway Plaza location for almost four years, and have never been disappointed. Shout out to Stefani Ann (I hope I got her name right lol!) I've always loved being at LensCrafters and getting glasses there, but this time it was different. I recently came in for a glasses cleaning and my glasses came back with a very noticeable scratch on both the lens and frame. My mother called and was told that "the scratch was there before" even when it wasn't. Before going in the store, I cleaned my glasses and there was no scratch seen. The manager asked my mother for her phone number and told her that she'd call her back soon. She never did. We came in the next day, was told everything was a "he said she said" situation which upset me. I'm getting a new pair of glasses soon, but I didn't really appreciate the customer service I was given. read more
