I had a appointment with Dr. Makor and she is the sweetest! I was a little nervous to get my eyes changed because it's been a while and at another location I didn't have a good experience. Dr.Makor makes you feel like a friend you haven't seen in a while. She helped me feel calm and made me laugh a few times. She is worth every penny! I felt she listened to all of my concerns and answered all my questions. The lady in the front that stalls the glasses I wish I remembered her name. She was so sweet! She was also very helpful and patient. She deserves a raise! read more

Dr Makor was great and quick so stars are for her. Problem was when I went to pick my glasses out. They had included all the options for the frame; coating, photochromic (whatever that is), UV, polarized, blue light block, etc... the price with my insurance was about $350. This was a nice frame from a major brand and the lenses would be progressive. So I know this would not be cheap at all . I asked the gal working if I could take off some of the options for the lenses to save some cash and she said only the blue light blocking. She actually refused to take off any other options from the lenses. This would only be about $15 less. I really don't need all the bells and whistles for my lenses, especially since I only use them for work and they stay on my desk. I went elsewhere and got a higher price frame, with scratch resistant, anti-reflective, UV protection, and blue light blocking for about $150 less read more

I needed a simple eye exam so I can get some contacts and glasses and I had no eye worries so I came here. The process to make an appointment was simple and I completed it online and was able to schedule at a time I would normally do my target shopping and it took hardly any extra time from my day. The exam was comfortable and everything you normally go through. I did the machine for the dilation of my eyes which is not covered by insurance but worth the price for me. After my exam I looked a bit at the glasses but I don't feel like they had a great variety in the store. I asked for all of my measurements so I could order online and got them through Zenni. I did order my contacts through target and it took about a week before they came in. Overall, everything was good. This is a great place for a simple eye exam. If I had any eye concerns I probably would find a specific office to go to but for a quick exam to order some contacts or glasses then this is a great spot. read more

Our insurance changed and was not looking forward to a change. I made my appointment for me and my two active 7 and 11 year old kids. Dr. Kelly was out in maternity leave, but her replacement Dr. Alla Young was sitting in for her and I was amazed on how she explained everything to us! I learned more about putting in my contacts from her then in my 24 years of wearing contacts. She handled my son and daughter really well, switched methods with both of them for age appropriateness! She explained to the kids what she was testing for and explained the difference in their prescriptions. She explained to my son that he should be wearing his glasses all day and what needs to happen before we can put him in contacts. I recently changed insurance and came here for an appointment. I was long overdue for a new prescription (contacts and glasses) and Dr. Aileen Jacob was seriously great. Hands down the best experience I've had during an eye visit. She was so personable and I felt like she really wanted to get me the perfect prescription. At the moment, she has me on a trial for trying out two different contact lenses to see which is more comfortable for me. On my way out of the appointment and sat down for payment with Rine and she was equally great. She was so friendly and went out of her way to provide me with price comparisons and info for the different contacts I am trying right now. Genuinely the best eye appointment I could have had. Even at my initial contact when I called to schedule my appointment, the person assisting me was so friendly and kind. They even got me in same day, which I feel is generally unheard of. Then the front desk staff was so kind and cheerful upon check in. Dr. Makor was so professional and friendly, and made me feel at ease. Everyone went above and beyond, and I've never had a "great" eye appointment, but they made this an actual great experience! While at Target My wife and I were using 2 50 dollar gift cards, the cashier took the cards and said to enter info and card on payment card reader, when I looked up he said the gift cards were not run and I had paid the full price on my card, I asked him to correct this and he called a manager who said we had to return all items at the return counter to get this corrected. I asked why and she shrugged he shoulders as if this was an answer. All the people working there were white and my wife is not, this is the only reason that they treated like shit was we are a mixed couple. This escalated and they just were rude and racist. Absolutely amazing experience! The ladies working up front went above and beyond for me and I couldn't be happier with my experience. Amy helped me select the cutest pair of glasses and even got me out of my comfort zone and into something kinda spunky . Her and her coworker Ren were wonderful and helped me with all my insurance questions and provided me with specific quotes to help me make the best decision with my budget . Dr. Makor was so thorough and professional. She talked me through the whole exam and went step by step and explained to me what all the different diagnostics she was performing were doing . The entire staff was incredibly helpful! Dr. Nguyen was able to diagnose my vision issues I've had since birth when no other optimist could! Dr. Nguyen even took the time to fully explain the condition and offered to get me in contact with a specialist that could help me further. Rin is a customer service super start as well! Rin took the time to find me the best discount by searching my medical insurance and 2 car insurance plans! I ended up saving a pretty penny thanks to Rin! It's clear the staff here at Target optical goes above and beyond for their patients and I am a very happy customer. read more

I initially left a positive review. I hate to change this to a negative one, but I just have to. In March 2020, I went in for a prescription and contact lens fitting. Dr. Keane was genuinely concerned and helpful. She said I needed to be seeing a retinal specialist but that she could definitely help me see again with the help of her colleagues. I did notice that she didn't offer if I wanted the speciality eye imaging that everyone was raving about. Instead, she dilated my eyes. I mean, I prob would've turned it down anyways since I was paying out of pocket, but still, it would've been nice to be offered it to me. She let me know that she had another patient with a severe prescription like mines but that his was worse than mines and she treated him fine. She put me in a set of lenses. The lenses ended up being delayed due to COVID-19 and the manufacturer decided to close down and weren't producing their lenses anymore. Mind you, my contacts are custom made speciality lenses because I'm severely myopic and have some other eye issues. So Dr. Keane thankfully ordered another pair from a different manufacturer. I was suppose to receive a call back from an assistant when the contacts were done, but never did. I kept calling but couldn't get into contact with anyone. My contacts were delayed until Aug. 2020 apparently and I never received a call about when they'd be done. I had to call in myself to see when they'd be done. We go in, Dr. Keane moved practices so she was set to be moving soon. I was also surprised to notice that there's 2 sets of contacts there. 1 from the delayed manufacturer, another from the 2nd choice manufacturer since I was only suppose to be receiving the 2nd choice lenses. I was suppose to get a contact lenses training from Dr. Makor and I never received that. So I learned everything on my own and from the internet/support groups. I go back in for a check up. I tell them the 1st set is uncomfortable. The 2nd set are much more comfortable and breathable, but I can't see anything up close. Dr. Keane tells me this is because the lenses prescription must be too high, making things up close appear blurry, so she reexamined my eyes and got a new prescription ordered. Again, I'm calling back to back for months, to see when my new contacts would be in. I finally get into contact with someone who says she'd call me back, but never did. I finally get ahold of someone months later in January 2021, she tells me she will leave a message for Dr. Makor. Thankfully, Dr. Makor did call me back within 20 mins on an update on my prescription. She tells me that my contacts were done a long time ago and that she tried to call me multiple times. I have their numbers saved in my phone as contacts. I never received a call from them. I come in a week later to pick my contacts up just at closing time, pop the newbies into my eyes, prescription was fine up close for awhile, but now things up close are blurry again. I'm unsure if its the prescription or my MD, but I put my $ on both. I never received my contact lens prescription, contact lens training, and idk if it's due to COVID-19, but everyone there just seems forgetful and oblivious to other patients. Dr. Makor said that I may be able to get into Scleral lenses and that she'd give me a call back in a week after she's researched/checked with insurance companies, etc., still haven't heard anything back from her. This was 2 weeks ago. I needed something quick for lenses because I was wearing a 5 year glasses prescription when I cannot even wear glasses anymore due to how severe my prescription is (only contacts will help, not a candidate for LASIK, etc.) and they did help me to be able to see and I'm very thankful for that. I will however, be going to someone else who is a bit more educated on fitting speciality contacts as I now may be a good candidate for sclerals and Dr. Makor told me, they've never fitted sclerals there. Dr. Keane did not want to put my in Sclerals unless it was a last resort. I was told by multiple people and doctors that it sounds like Sclerals may be a last resort because they don't know how to fit them and they're intimidated by them. To make myself more comfortable, I'd just feel better going to someone who has fitted these lenses numerous times than be the guniea pig, I guess you could say? read more

I am absolutely amazed by the service at this location!! I did my research and picked this place in reference to other Yelp reviews and I was extremely blown away. I went in for an eye exam and picked out frames while my eyes were being dilated. The doctor was professional, knowledgeable and very kind. The store manager Katherine was particular why I enjoyed my experience - she helped me pick out frames and made it super fun! She took her time and explained things thoroughly so I felt very welcomed and taken care of. When I went to pick up my frames 2 weeks later the service was exactly the same with another employee. My glasses were scheduled to arrive in about 1 week... 3 weeks later they are finally able to give me the update that my glasses were shipped to the wrong target and that I would need to wait another 7-10 business days. The rep who had been helping me investigate told me she could help by providing a trial pair of my current contacts since I had been wearing my last pair when ordering my glasses. Apparently the rep didn't make ANY notes on my account so when I came in to get a trial pair of lenses, the rep at the counter told me since there are no notes and no managers, she could not help me! She was rude and made no effort to research my concern. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE and NO ACCOUNTABILITY. The fact that the store clerk had friends hanging out with her when I came in should have been an indication of the poor service I was about to receive. read more

Update from 12-1-2017 I purchased two prescription glasses from Katherine for work. They were special Z87 as required by work. At the time I was amazed by Katherine's assistance and knowledge. I purchased a warranty for both pairs. In January I returned to the store with scratches on the lenses. Katherine assured me they were covered by my warranty and would only pay the deductible. She wrote down my contact information and said she would call me back. I never received a call back. I called the store and received a gentleman on the phone. He said I could not make an appointment due to privacy and needed to walk in while she was available. Shortly after I walked in and she was working. Helping another customer and said to come back later when I've made an appointment. I explained how I tried to but was not able via the last gentleman I spoke to. She assured me she would call me this time and only forgot due to a personal medical issue. Understanding I left my information again. Again no call. After about eight months of this round and round I grew tired. Katherine said Oakley had been bought out and she would see if my warranty could be covered. (Eight months ago it wasn't a problem, now it might be?) Nine months Ten months Eleven months Twelve months.... had gone by. Katherine said she is doing everything she could to resolve the issue. Thirteen months in I complained to corporate in fear of losing my warranty. Corporate did not call back as promised but I did get a call from Katherine for the first time two days later. She "magically" found a way to get them replaced. It is February 2019 at this time. She knew a friend who could fix them. I dropped off one pair of glasses (for I need the second pair to see with) she said 10-14 days and they would be fixed. 10 days later, no call. 14 days later, no call. 19 days later, no call. March 1 I called again and asked. She was busy but would call me back that day. No call. March 4 she called at 7:57pm saying they would be done by Thursday for sure, March 7. No call again. Not even surprised. I walk in on March 8th before leaving for the desert to find Katherine not there, apparently another personal medical has taken her just as she was about to deliver... AGAIN. 34 days without my personal protective equipment and I get a call from the Dr. Dr Keane became my new eye doctor and was assisting Katherine while she was away. [Dr. Keane was the most helpful throughout the process and was polite and sweet stepping in to help even though she did not work directly for Target Optical.] Working with Target Guest Relations and Target Optical. I started my complaint on February 8, 2019. It is now March 20, 2019 and I have never once received a call back. Possibly this is a standard in professionalism. Today I finally got ahold of someone who guaranteed me "Someone will call you back." I've heard this one before. Long of the Short: Don't go here unless you like to pay for Warranties that don't get honored and don't trust a thing Katherine says. Time and promises are waisted here. Katherine tried to cover herself an accused me of being "rude" and even "swearing". This has never happened in the slightest only a mild frustration for the above obvious reasons. If you find yourself in the same situation here is the complaint speed-dial number 1-800-440-0680 Ext 1-1 It started to good to be true. Now over $1000 later I am empty handed and frustrated. Update 8/25/2019 BBB contacted me saying they could not get a hold of Target/Luxottica and my complaint will be closed. Further findings showed they are not BBB accredited and have 531 Complaints. Each complaint says the same thing. They will not fix/honor the warranty. I wish Target would have been better at this. Years later and I am empty handed. Thanks Target!!! read more

This was my second time using target optical even though i didn't have the best experience last time i went a few years ago. They had great deals and getting a discount with my red card is a bonus. I decided to give them another shot. Dr. Makor was awesome! She made me feel comfortable and was so sweet to my daughter who was there with me during my appointment. She gets 5 stars. I really dislike writing negative reviews and it took a bit for me to get to this point. I called to check on my glasses. It's been 2 weeks and now past the date they said they would be ready. Really not a huge deal but last time i got glasses they never called me, i had to call and check and they were in, so i assumed that's what happened this time. I called and they didn't answer a few times. I figured they were with a customer. I left a message. No return call. I gave them a chance and called the next day and they asked if they could call me back. Took my info, no call back. I give them hours to call me back before trying again. Ended up getting a voicemail saying tracking said they would be delivered next day. I wait till that day in the afternoon to call again and they don't answer. I leave a message and they don't call back. I wait another day to call and they get my info then put me on hold. 15 minutes later I hang up. Call 3 or so hours later and they say they called everyone whose glasses came in. I ask if they can check the status and they take my info down and ask if they can call me back. Still no call back. I'm about to just tell them forget it give me a refund. I understand with covid they can only help one customer at a time and I'm sure they're busy. That's why I've given them many chances. I just don't get why they say they'll call me but they don't. I'd rather them say "we will definitely call you when they come in but they aren't here yet" and then I'd leave it at that. But they aren't actually giving me any info. It's getting really frustrating. read more

I really appreciated that everyone was easy to talk to, and didn't try to up sell me on extra products. I couldn't find a set of frames that I liked in the store, so they provided me with a copy of my prescription without any of the usual run-around I've gotten at other optometrist offices in the past. Loved Dr. KELLY KEANE! After having the same doctor for years and years, eye surgery, prescription after prescription, I was REALLY nervous about a new dr., but my insurance changed and I had to make the switch. My co-workers had gone to her before and had an AMAZING expierence with her and I now know why. Her front staff are also very helpful! Frames and all are very reasonable and after insurance, plus extra discounts and Target Redcard, you get the whole package for a great price! Dr Keane is very knowledgeable, and I didn't feel like another number, she completed my eye exam for both frames and contact lenses. For the contact exam she asked me what brand did I wear and o told her I had been using 2 week acuvue oasys. My eyes just seemed terribly dry even if I would wear them a week and throw them out and get a fresh pair they didn't seem to fix the problem. (Btw I've tried every eye drop moisture brand in Walmart and Rx $100 prescription you could think of to alleviate the problem unknown to the Dr) she immediately knew that I had an eye allergy and went in asking questions about the type of solution that I use (Opti free pure moisture). She went back in and checked my eye allergy. She recommended daily acuvue oasys hydraluxe and of course gave me trial pairs. When I opened the package and before I popped them in I could feel the difference in quality from the two week lenses to the 1 day and surprisingly The hydraluxe quality is superior to the 2 week even though they are one a days. She also told me abouthow they offer UV protection amongst other things. I purchased the RX Ray Bans with the gold and acrylic frame. I get tons of compliments. Beautiful. Dr. Keane is amazing! I've had eye care needed for about 20 years now, and I FINALLY found an Optometrist I love! She stayed a bit late to make my appointment, and she was still thorough and kind. She was very personable, and her young age made me feel like we were friends instantly. The office is beautiful (new one located in Target) and all of the equipment is automatic and brand new. My insurance covered most of it, so I paid little out of pocket, but I can't speak to uninsured pricing. All in all, I will be coming back for the foreseeable future! read more

Had the best experience at Target Optical in Santee. Dr. Keane is so professional and did an excellent job with my prescription. What I loved most was picking my new glasses. The ladies were so ssweet and helpful and I choose the cutest Coach frames at an excellent price. The pricing is so fair considering the great quality frames and lenses. Wow! I love Dr. Kearne! She was so incredible with my 2 rambunctious kiddos (7 & 4yo) with their eye exams! She is very patient, and made it fun for the kids! She really takes the time for YOU, answers all the questions you have, she even came to help with the kids (distracted them with a book) while I was picking out my 1st ever pair of eye glasses! She is very knowledgeable and also came out to give me a 2nd opinion on frames. The ladies at the front are also very kind, knowledgeable, patient, and helpful! My son is almost 15 years old and has worn glasses since 1st, we've seen 5-6 different eyes doctors and I have to say Dr. Kelly Keane is the best of them all. My husband and myself have also switched over to Dr. Keane for our vision needs. She's always very kind, responsive, and answers all of our questions. I love the ability to book appts online, and there's always great availability that fits perfectly into our hectic schedules. Her staff is beyond amazing. We're always very pleased with the service provided here. My husband has ordered 3 pairs of glasses with them and they've all come in pretty quick as did my son's. Best Eye exam I have probably ever had. New State of the Art equipment and a very very thorough exam. Dr. Kelly Keane answered all of my questions, made recommendations and treated me very well as if they were her own eyes. Very clean office. Great receptionist very nice. I am a big fan of Target already, but having a new Optical Dept. makes it the best one stop shop ever. Very knowledgeable Dr., she was super thorough and made informed recommendations. I will say I went from absolutely going back again, to NEVER going back again, to ACTUALLY going back again! There were a lot of bumps in the road during the ordering/replacement process of my husbands sun glasses (insurance), even though the staff (Katherine) were friendly and attentive. With the help of Reza who stepped in from the Chula Vista store, she was able to accurately order, replace and even go as far as to personally meeting me at the Santee location to do the dispensing all within a week and a half. I am TRULY grateful that she went above and beyond to make the customer (myself) happy. Allison has also been a great help and going above and beyond to help me repair my sunglasses.
