The best eye exam I've ever had! Dr. Deaner is amazing. She was testing my eyes with equipment I've never seen, it felt very cutting edge. When I picked up my glasses, I could literally see for miles, the distance was so clear! About a month later, a screw fell off my glasses and the arm came off (vintage frame) After striking out at 3 stores looking for an eyeglass repair kit, I came back to Total Vision to see if they had the kits. A nice man named Juan Carlos took them and came back five minutes later and he was kind enough to repair and adjust them and clean them for free. That kind of service leaves a lasting impression on customers. I recommend this place because the people and their pricing are awesome. Tons of parking too! read more

Dr. Deaner, trained at CAL Berkeley, is so kind and knowledgeable! Her staff is always very friendly. She takes the time to get a complete history and captures my eye and vision needs. This visit past Friday, she dilated my eyes and looked very closely at my eye and eye health. My vision changed slightly from last visit and I was eligible for complete glasses with my insurance. I'm excited to get my new Ray Ban eyewear! The manager, Leticia, runs a lovely office setting. Kent was sooooooo kind and helpful with my selection of eyewear and fitting when the glasses arrived! read more

Dr. Deaner and everyone at the office were attentive and very helpful. Vision test went well and got the scan instead of dilating drops, very worth it and less down time. Would recommend to visit here! read more

If you're looking for a friendly and professional optometrist in El Cajon, this is the place to go! This was my first visit, and everything went smoothly. I was greeted by Mathew, who was incredibly kind and attentive--you can tell he genuinely cares about each patient's experience. Dr. Deaner was just as impressive--warm, knowledgeable, and made me feel completely at ease throughout the exam. Honestly, the whole team is welcoming and clearly dedicated to providing excellent care. I highly recommend this office if you want a positive, stress-free eye care experience! read more

This was my first time ever getting my eyes checked and getting glasses. I want to begin by saying how incredible the entire staff was. I was also immediately drawn to the fact that the doctor was a woman of color, which made me feel very comfortable. I would recommend this place to anyone. read more

I am here to share my experience with Total Vision. I have been a patient for the last 3 years, and today have decided to move forward to a different provider after many feelings of frustration with their organization and management. I had an appointment scheduled for my annual exam, and received a call a week before that the optometrist was going to be on vacation and I needed to reschedule. I received not only one call and voicemail, but two. From two different staff. On the same day. Within two hours of each other. Feeling like this was urgent I found time out of my busy work day to call back. I shared the issue and asked if calls were logged. We rescheduled the appointment for three weeks later. Day before my rescheduled appointment I received yet another call and voicemail saying that my appointment has been cancelled and to call to reschedule. And just after that I receive a text and email confirming my appointment is still scheduled. I was out of town and couldn't call back till the next morning. Called that morning at 9 am, I didn't want to be charged a cancellation fee if the appointment was still on the books. I reminded them of my previous experience scheduling appointments and feeling a sense of disorganization on their end, and frustration on my end. Shared that I do not wish to reschedule my appointment and I have already made an appointment at a new provider - Eye Styles in Rancho San Diego. Their Yelp reviews look great and you can schedule appointments online. Don't recommend this optometrist. Doctor is great, but the experience with staff and disorganization has ruined it for me. Taking my business elsewhere. If you can't get an appointment booked correctly, how can I trust my vision care with you? I have noticed this shift and lack of organization since their switch from Main Street Optometry to Total Vision El Cajon. Do better. read more

DON'T GO TO THIS PLACE IF YOU DONF EABT TO GET RIPPED OFF. I am a disabled senior. I went to total although the people were very nice. are reprehensible. I have Medicare and when I went to go see them I said I needed to have my contact lenses renewed and then I also would like my prescription for glasses. They proceeded to give me an exam in which my contact lenses changed at all. Then I went to look at the glasses and they wanted me to pay on top of the $350 that is covered almost another $300. I do have astigmatism and I did want two things which one was the scratch resistance lens and the other one was thinner lenses. These additions should've been covered in the $350 but not. In addition they were trying to charge me $149 lens fitting. I have never heard of that. I contacted several other places from Walmart to private places that were quite expensive the most expensive eye exam I found was $149. The average seem to be about $99. In which they do not charge an additional amount for this. I told the I also told them that I think it's really crappy, especially since Mike my lens did not change at all in my prescription. so there was no fitting there was nothing additional done. It was just a surcharge. I also told them that I don't have the money for it and try to change it contact which should be covered they told that those are not covered and that I would have to pay because I have a special lens. Well, it's the same thing as last year and I didn't have to pay. In fact I did pay additional $50 for a second set which I was happy to do. I then told them that I didn't think they were They that's fine. I said I would be making complaints. They said that's fine. I also told him that I am a disabled said it doesn't matter. Don't patronize this place. It's nothing but a rip off place especially when I found out they're getting paid more than $200 from my the eye exam itself that's more than any other place that I found by far. read more

Total vision care is the BEST. The office staff is friendly and helpful. The optometrist Sherry Deanery is amazing.

I had first visited this office two years ago and was seen by Dr. Weiss. The entire process, from exam to fitting of my new glasses was flawless. Times have changed drastically. It started with my new exam, but a different doctor. The exam, itself, seemed alright. When my new glasses came in a week later, things went downhill quickly. I was handed them, asked to look around and then dismissed. As the afternoon went on, I struggled to focus. I also discovered several scratches on both lenses. I called the next day to request to be re-examined, along with having the lenses replaced. The doctor admitted to bumping up my prescription because of my elevated astigmatism. A completely new setup was ordered. I was called two weeks later and, again, handed the glasses, asked to look around and dismissed. I didn't take the time to look at the lenses carefully. When I got home and went to clean them correctly, I noticed the left lense looked as though it had been cleaned with sand paper. I've owned my previous pair for two years and they have not a scratch on them. I took them back in, with an attitude. They said they would address the issue promptly. Two weeks later, I'm told they are back. I asked them to inspect the lenses before I wasted time coming back in. Three hours later, I get a call to inform me that the lab applied the earlier prescription. I was told I would receive some form of reimbursement. It never happened. It took another three weeks to get them back, and they were wrapped in foam. The office assistant informed me that the lab supervisor inspected and wrapped them personally. As she was the only person in sight, I was handed a set of ill-fitting glasses that drove me crazy. Costco was amazing with the little time it took to fit and adjust them. I cannot recommend Main Street Optometry at all. As so many reviews have stated, the level of quality and customer service has gone downhilll dramatically. Warranty withstanding, I will not be returning. read more

My family and I have been seeing Dr Weiss for over 10 years. Recently she relocated and this new company has taken over. I ordered my glasses a month ago and every week I have been calling to get an update. I was told on 3/14/23 for the 2nd time my glasses would be in on 3/15 at 2pm. I spoke to the manager Gloria and expressed how I disappointed I was and how I have never had this issue in the past and how they haven't even communicated besides when I have called to get an update. Here we are 3/15 5:18pm. No call no glasses. So I called at 5:08 and I was transferred to Gloria the manager again and expressed how I want my money back and will be filing a complaint with my insurance she said fine and hung up in my face. I will never use them again and do not recommend to anyone. read more

Dr. Sherry Deaner and the staff at Main Street Optometry are simply the best!! Dr. Deaner is very personable, knowledgeable, and thorough. She took her time, explaining everything she was going to do. She answered all of my questions in more than a couple of words. The front lobby staff were the finest team working seamlessly with Dr. Deaner. They were very helpful and caring. Overall, I was very impressed with my entire experience at Main Street Optometry! read more

This place is amazing. Dr. Sherry Deaner and staff make everything simple but thorough and with care. Worth the 20-30 minute drive!

Well with lots of persistence, I ended up getting my money back from them. As for my husband his glasses arrived and were wrong. They sent them back again and they came back wrong again. They finally refunded the money after the VSP insurance provider got involved. They made 2 sets of glasses wrong how can that be. Here's how-- Well when the patient says the chart isn't clear don't tell her to pick the clearest. Nothing was ever in focus during the eye exam. Nothing. Don't tell the patient, we will make your new glasses off the old prescription and just bump it up slightly.. Ahh hello that's why I'm here that prescription is years old and off. I want it right not a guess. Don't tell the patient her eyes are complicated, when her old glasses work almost fine. I'm just nearsighted. It's sad because I really liked the frames that I picked out. Now I need to make an appointment elsewhere and start over during the peak of Covid. As for hubby he just wanted new lenses because his were really scratched. read more

Yearly eye exam at - Main Street Optometry- Office is zen Ana the staff are professional and kind. Very thorough - Dr.'s are very knowledgeable and I learned more about the stye on my eye from Dr. Bergmark than I did from my medical provider. Kelsey was also great at helping me pick frames and adjusting my current glasses all while being Covid proper. read more

This practice was great with Dr. Weiss seeing patients but she no longer is the one who does eye checks. Myself and my two sons go in probably bi-yearly and have checks. This was the second time taking my children in. This most recent visit with Dr. Bergmark was unpleasant. She doesn't make eye contact when speaking to patients, she clicks on the computer with her back to you while you speak or does other things and it's clear she isn't listening. She very much made us feel rushed like she just wanted us over and done with. Both my children remarked that she doesn't give enough time for the patient to adjust between the lens flickering in the test and I fully agree. She will ask "one or two" and will interrupt and say "one or two or are they equal?" Before you can even respond she almost answers for you...we all had to repeatedly say "can you do it again?" My thoughts were heavily concerned during exam that our prescriptions would be incorrect due her speediness. She just doesn't listen...that's the honest way we all three felt and my kids are 12 & 13. Sure enough, when our glasses came in myself and one of my sons knew within seconds something wasn't right. We expressed this and were told we needed to go home and wear the glasses anyway. We were told the Dr. wouldn't allow us to come back for two weeks despite almost instant vertigo feelings. After two weeks we still complained, the glasses made us nauseated and gave us headaches. So we saw Dr. Bergmark again where she repeatedly didn't listen during exam and told us "I'm sure of the prescription but I'll do it again!" She would flick through the test lenses rapidly and then tell us both "yep, just like I already had written...there's no difference!" Yet when we left she DID change the prescriptions for my son and I both. She heavily sells the transitional (progressive) lenses and we felt pressured into them. Ultimately, we wanted it removed though she argued against it and made us feel it was a wrong choice. In the end our prescriptions were changed and new lenses ordered. The receptionist told us this would be "at no cost to you" but it's a lie, they removed the transitional lenses I paid extra for and they kept that fee as payment for correcting my lenses! It's not free, they decrease options you've paid for and keep the money to offset their mistakes. Read the return policy carefully! I was not sent home with any written information on this but was told I was and they quickly emailed me the return policy. They don't tell you or show you it up front! If you hate these glasses you won't get your money back, only a small percentage! When I wanted to just take my faulty glasses and go elsewhere, I was suddenly told "sorry, you can't...the courier already took them." I'd left the office just twenty minutes prior, very odd. I was backed into a corner with no choice but to hope the 2nd try was correct. Today we picked up the corrected lenses and they are suddenly good, phew! Read other reviews on "bumping" prescriptions because I think this was the issue! Others claim the Dr. bumped the prescription strength up beyond what you need and it makes sense for our issues, the fix was a lower strength...the correct one. I spent $1,500.00 for three pairs of glasses and it was nearly two months of hassle, return trips and uncomfortable exams by Dr. Bergmark. We took our corrected lenses today and our prescriptions and won't ever return. The women who size your glasses up front and help you pick them are pleasant and friendly. COVID protocol is being followed. Unfortunately, since Dr. Weiss doesn't do exams and due to the return policy and very expensive in store selection we will never go back to this practice. read more

Dr. Woodworth has been my optometrist since early in the 1970's. I fully trust Main Street Optometry; will go nowhere else.

I was referred to main street optometry by my pediatrician. We made an appointment to see Dr. Nathu. Initially we saw an assistant to do the standard tests, she was very nice but my daughter was very nervous and was having a really hard time cooperating. The assistant went to speak to the doctor and Dr. Nathu decided to just do the tests manually. At this point my daughter was so nervous and upset I thought I was going to have to reschedule but Dr. Nathu totally turned it around. She was amazing with my daughter and soothed her fears! She took so much extra time with us. My daughter actually required a prescription and to wear glasses full time and she was not happy about this. Then came the gals at the front, they spent over an hour helping her look through all of the styles and showing her how cool it was to be able to get these glasses. My daughter is 5 and very strong willed and I could not have done this without their help. Fast forward to today, we got her glasses in and she is happy to wear them. The level of care this office provided from doctor to staff was amazing. I would refer them to anyone needing care. read more
