We have gone here for a couple of years, we absolutely LOVE Dr Werner, the exam is magnificent, very thorough and he explains everything. We are not fond of the staff though. Depending on the day, you may have a very happy experience, or a not so happy experience. They tended to be rude to my husband. Also the sales people are very pushy. We opted to do their pre-paid exams, but found it not as useful and it was portrayed, and they charge your card without a warning. They do have a nice selection of very high end frames. I decided to give this place another chance because Dr Werner is one of the best drs to examine eyes. They must've hired new staff because they were very knowledgeable. They attended me very well on the phone and I was able to fit an appointment and I try to get an appointment through my Sharp Rees Stealy and they didn't have anything till January which is four months away. Dr Werner was able to see me less than two weeks, I still take my prescriptions to Costco but only because Costco is such a big organization that can not be beat on their prices, and Costco has 100% returns but that has nothing to do with the doctors office. That's anywhere you go. It's just a Costco is known because of their return policy but for an exam and prescription hands-down Dr Werner is the best He's very thorough and very knowledgeable, kind and very pleasant , so I'm going to go ahead and update my review to five stars. read more

I have been going to a big box optical store for the better part of 15 years. I decided that there might be a better experience and care waiting for me at a dedicated optometrist, so I gave this one a try on a friends recommendation. Long story short - Dr. Rex Werner identified a missing component in my prescription, and a potential future eye issue that I had not been informed of in all the years I had been going to the big box store. He also took the time to thoroughly explain my prescription, what it means, how it affects my vision throughout different situations, and how best to use the corrective implements (I got both a glasses and contact prescription) in those different situations. He also switched me over to a new contact lens brand that not only felt much, much better, allowed me to see better in different conditions. The difference in my experiences between this boutique optometrist and the big box store could not be greater, and I am very, very happy. Bottom line - this shop is over 15 miles from my house, but I will happily drive to receive the level of care that this office provides. I cannot recommend this place enough! read more

It has been three years since I left my last review. I and my three children are still going to Werners. They are the best and Dr. McMurren specializes in so-called "dry eye" which 80% of us have no matter the age because we look at screens so much that our blink rate is reduced. The eye glands need blinking to work, and when underworked they die off. Nearly everyone has dead oil-producing glands they just don't know it. I would recommend that ANYONE of ANY age get a dry eye evaluation there. I went to seven doctors before this was determined as to why my eyes hurt. And now my problem is fixed. Seven eye doctors missed the oil gland problem because I still had plenty of tears but not enough oil. If you have any problems like itchy eyes, pain, or blurriness, you could have "Meibomian gland dysfunction" and it only gets worse with time as we all look at screens (TV, phone, Ipad, computers, etc.) This was something that was not a problem 40 years ago, but today even five-year-olds can start to develop it. There are very easy fixes but 97% of eye docs dont have the machines so they don't diagnose it. They can't make money from MGD so they misdiagnose. I was given drops, artificial tears, gels, and even pain pills, but no one correctly diagnosed MGD. Now I am fine! Werner is your new eye doctor!!! Worth the drive from anywhere in the county! read more

My daughter and I have come here for a little while. At first I was alright with our experience. However, my last couple visits were concerning. 1) why have me spend 20 minutes filling out paperwork about my health history if you're just going to take me into a room and ask me all of the exact same questions again and not even look at the forms I filled out? Second, they made me watch some video on dry eyes and a procedure you can get that is super expensive, and then the doc comes in and says I don't actually need it because that's not what my issue is. She then gives me Rx drops to try for a week to see how those work and wants me to see the other doctor in a week for his opinion. A week later, the other doctor has no clue about the Rx drops as the previous doctor never added that information into my file. He looks around at my eyes and then tells me to come back in another week. My daughter wanted to try contacts. The doctor couldn't even get them into her eyes. I finally said, let me do it and got it right away. Then they charged us over $100 for contact fitting and a weeks worth of daily use contacts. Then they try to push you to buy their glasses. I explain I want to talk to my husband and think about our needs and asked for a print out of the Rx for us and the removed the info for my daughters prism. So I had to ask again and they were not pleased. Then they do special pictures of your eyes versus dilating them but don't ask you if you are okay with the out of pocket cost beforehand. Overall, we have decided we won't be returning here anymore. read more

Followed Dr. Watson over to this place when he closed his office. I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Watson as I feel he has nothing but your best interest in mind. That is where it ends however. I have been told that my vision insurance is as good as it gets. Somehow, Werner's office found a way to add charges and tried to relentlessly upsell me on frames not covered by insurance. The quote for frames alone was over $500.00. When I asked if they had any frames that would be completely covered by insurance ($200 covered) I was told that they did not have anything in the entire office that would fit the bill. Took my prescription to Costco and got everything I needed and more, all covered by insurance. Run, don't walk from this place. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Rex Werner for approximately 5 years now. An eye exam is a necessary evil that you just have to live through. That being said, each visit has been a very pleasant experience. The administrative staff has been thorough in ensuring that I need to do as little as possible to fully utilize my insurance coverage's. They filed all of the paperwork to get me the exam and the appropriate discounts for contacts and glasses. They listened to my likes and immediately find the pair of glasses that fit my desire, The exam itself is very thorough. Dr. Rex takes his time to listen to my concerns, address any questions, and give me some education with each visit. I could not ask for anything more. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Aaron Werner as a specialist for over a year. My regular eye doctor, Dr. Lisa Weiss, recommended his father Rex who I saw once. Aaron has pretty much taken over the business since then. He doesn't sugar coat his diagnosis, but he takes the time to explain it to you in basic terms. He shares his findings with and wants the best for his patients. The staff is great, and very accommodating. I've never bought glasses there, so I don't know that experience that Andrew had yesterday but did not seem to like. The support staff and doctors make even a negative experience (eye problem diagnoses) a pleasant one. I have been more than satisfied here and never feel that I'm being rushed, or my questions discounted. read more

I promise, I will try to make this as short, concise, and to the point as possible. Every single person I came into contact with at Werner Optometry was friendly and courteous. They each seemed to go out of their way to make what was a potentially uncomfortable process seem a little more enjoyable. From the moment I placed a call to schedule an appointment, to the actual appointment itself, I never felt like a "Patient". Rather, the staff made me feel as if I were a friend, offering whatever they could to ensure my comfort. All the staff at Werner Optometry should be commended for their professionalism, dedication to their patients, and for otherwise making the process of Eye Health Care a truly pleasurable experience. This review is past overdue for several months... I came to this Optometry early December of 2018, I already knew I had something wrong (Dry Eyes) but just needed to confirm the main problem at hand. Surely enough, I had a bad case of Dry Eyes. Unfortunately, my insurance(Medical) doesn't cover much of anything for prescription eye drops, for the next 3 months I was given by Dr. Brittany, 1 or 2 prescriptions eye drops and she also provided some free Restasis sample(s) since my health insurance denied me twice for that prescription. With that said there was practically no improvement in those 3 months, then she mentioned doing the LipiFlow treatment as an alternate option. I had received enough money from my tax return to barely pay for the LipiFlow treatment, so I decided to go for it... She talked many good and positive things in doing this treatment and that I was going to see major improvements within just a few weeks. I then proceeded to do this treatment in March of 2019. I had a few follow up visits within the next weeks to a month and I still wasn't seeing any improvements in the slightest, I was told it might just take more time... I did everything I was told to do for the post LipiFlow treatment, maybe it was my fault in something or maybe this treatment didn't work, who knows. Many months passed 2,4,6 and I honestly saw no change in my eyes whatsoever. The last prescription I was given from Dr. Brittany was Torbex and ointment to treat a possible eye infection of some sort...? It didn't do anything for me and irritated my eyes very badly and that concluded my last Dry Eye visit in September, 2019 with zero improvements of any kind. The problem doesn't end there either, I also needed to get some prescription glasses. I really don't know why I stuck around with this Optometry place after my Dry Eye failure, and now I'm bagning my head against the wall because of it... I ended up ordering a normal pair of glasses in addition to prescription Sunglasses as well which I was told I was going to get them 50% because of a deal. The normal pair of glasses were done in a timely manner from my understanding, however my Sunglasses were literally delayed for over a month. I was the one that had to call literally every time to get an update on them. I got some Oakley Holbrook Sunglasses, however the mirror color coating was the main issue they were having getting it right, I was told that they had to get redone not once or twice but three times. I finally got a call to pick them up after a month and a week or two. I was eagerly waiting to see them... once I saw them, they didn't even get the color right, I wanted an Orange/Yellow tint that I saw in their own store and I ended up with a Violet color... I was given an additional free pair(prescription) black/Non mirror as a form of apology for the delay and troubles. I'm never coming here again, I wasted 11 months plus $1000 for the LipiFlow treatment that didn't do shit for me either, not to mention other extra costs here and there as well. I honestly feel completely robbed of all the money I spent, especially for someone with a not high income. I originally came here to get treated for my Dry Eyes and now I'm leaving this place the same way I walked in on my first day... The only good thing I can say about this place is all the staff working was very friendly(at least to me). read more

We had a great experience with Dr. Aaron Werner today! It was our first time at the practice, but we felt very welcome. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by their friendly staff and it wasn't long before we were called in. After a base exam, Dr. Aaron came in and went through more eye exams. He was very professional and had a really good way of explaining everything so that we could make the right decisions. Along with him, the nice woman who helped us with our glasses fitting and choice was really helpful. She didn't try to push the high price items, she made sure we got the right frames for us. Not sure what to think with Werner Optometry any more. Been going there for about 5yrs, all ok, but this last time was different. Some how my glasses or prescription or adjustment is wrong because my sight isnt good when driving etc. i went back and they rechecked my prescription and redone/made my lenses. No improvement..... (i use my old glasses, because even that old prescription is better). I even suggested a different frame size, and they said that isn't the problem. Looks like i will try somewhere else. Dr Watson is a caring optometrist who really knows his field and is old school not trying to talk you into anything you are not wanting or uncomfortable with. I appreciate his kind and personable demeanor and have been seeing him for years. The entire team is to be commended for their professionalism and being so personable. Angela the receptionist made me feel right at home and was efficient and gracious. My optometrist tech Josh was just awesome and was so friendly, took time to explain tests and was very professional. Chase helped me and my husband with choices of glasses and general information. Chase is personable and a great help on the team. The office was super clean, with all the latest in equipment, complimentary beverages super nice office. Dr Watson did a great job at explaining all my results from the tests and gave me a great idea of how my overall eye health was. He really takes time with his patients which I appreciate greatly. I have been seeing Dr. Rex for ten years. I started seeing him when we lived just down the road and he was one of the closest optometrists around. When we moved, however, I have consistently come back to him. When we lived 30 miles away I happily made time in my day to return to him for updating my contacts. Now we are about 10 miles away and I return to him without question. Dr. Rex will answer any question you have and will make sure you understand the answer. He will spend as much time as you need getting your prescription just right. When I was having weird night-vision stars he explained what the problem was and backed my prescription down for me, free of charge. When I told him about my migraines he told me about his son, and helped me figure out both my migraine trigger and how to shield myself. In addition to all the help he's been for me as an individual, Dr. Rex is active in Doctors Without Borders and closes his office periodically so he can go abroad and help those who don't have ready access to health care. He's a fantastic doctor, and he's an all-around "good guy". I'll be coming to Dr. Rex as long as he is practicing, no matter how far I have to travel. read more

Very pleased with Werner Optometry. As soon as I walked in the door, I was greeted by the receptionists, and was made to feel at home. I was taken to the back for my exam by the technician within 5 minutes of my arrival. She was very thorough, informative, and took the time to hear my concerns and answer my questions. Dr. Aaron was also very thorough, kind, and explained my eye issues thoroughly. It was nice not feeling rushed or silly for asking questions during my exam. Worse experience ever. When I called to make an appointment because I was referred here by my boyfriend and it's right around the corner from my house I thought I would give them a call and make an appointment. When I called I was very specific with what I wanted and asked if everything was covered by my insurance and the girl said yes. When they called to confirm my appointment I asked again if everything was covered by my insurance she again said yes. Went in for my appointment and at the end I was charged close to $100 dollars for my visit. Then I had told the doctor what contacts I used because those worked better for me but when I wanted my contact prescription they wouldn't give it to me until I used their sample contacts. When I called back to get my prescription for my contacts after I used the ones I was given it's only for the contacts they sell. I can't use their prescription for the contacts that work best for me because they don't sell them. Just wasted my time and money. Never going back or referring anyone to this place. Update: Josh called me back and was very helpful. He answer all my questions and finally gave me my contact prescription and got me another pair of sample contacts to see which work better for me. read more

I absolutely love this optometrist. When I first called the office I wanted to try on a couple pairs of Spy glasses. Knowing that they didn't carry every pair I was interested in, the main receptionist/technician (I think her name is Julia) let me know that the Spy rep was coming in the next morning and I could come try on all the pairs I wanted. I left work and showed up at 10 am and after about 15 minutes Julia called to determine where the rep was. Turns out that the rep who was supposed to be coming quit and no one at Spy notified the new rep of the appointment. So instead of being completely disappointed by the waste of time and gas money, Julia saved the day and said she would order each pair for me so I could try them out, knowing that I would only be able to purchase one pair. This kind of above and beyond service is something you rarely experience. Also, when I went in for my actual check-up both the technician and the doctor were dolls. They were both very friendly and funny. The optometrist actually explained to me what I was looking at in the "back of my eye" pictures. Lastly, the office is bright and clean and they have a good selection of glasses. There is a whole case of Dolce and Gabana, Spy, and RayBan. Don't go anywhere else or you are a fool :) read more

I went to Dr. Werner as a kid, and recently came back here for follow up appointments after getting lasik surgery at Gordon Schanzlin. I now see Dr. McMurren and she is amazing. She is very friendly and extremely thorough. I will be coming back here for my regular yearly eye appointments even though my insurance covers me elsewhere. I was not happy the last time I went in. There was the possibility that my retina was detaching and when I called they immediately booked an appointment, which was good. Yet, when I showed up, the desk person told me this was a medical issue and I should have called my medical provider. Why didn't the two people I talked to over the phone tell me that? I would have never come in if they had. As I was scared about having my retina detach, I went ahead and had the exam (which cost me out-of-pocket) and, when it was over, they called and made an appointment with an ophthalmologist with my vision network as they felt I would need immediate surgery. They ended sending me to my medical provider where it didn't cost a dime. They had dilated both of my eyes and then sent me out into the world without promised sun shades. I had to scramble to get to the other doctor before they closed (a 20 plus mile journey) and I could barely find my way as I was driving into the sun. My complaints: * The front desk staff knew it was a medical issue when I called and should have told me over the phone to call my medical provider and go in as a medical emergency instead of wasting my time and taking my money. * It's not the first time I felt they brought me in just for my money. * They do not specify their costs in advance and don't break down the services in any way that you could say, I'll take this - not that. They give you a dollar "range" and you end up paying the top dollar end of the range, not the lower estimate. Being in a panic about the possibility of my retina detaching as I stood there, I didn't know what else to do but to have them check me over but they should have directed me to my medical provider and not taken my money when I told them up front I was on an extreme budget. At least they pick through your wallet with a smile. * Failed to provide me with eye protection after eye dilation. * They just recently began to provide a lower price range for their glasses but even that is pricey. Of course, I have to have trifocals and everything else under the sun, so their glasses package prices are prohibitive. The staff is friendly but for the $$ edict (presumably to pay for the high tech equipment they have.) As my vision insurance pays well for the exam itself I no longer buy my glasses through them but I will probably find another vision care professional after this last interlude. read more
