Absolute scammers. I want to preface this review by saying that everything that happened to me today happened last year when I ordered my contacts through them as well. That time, I chalked it up to a misunderstanding. This time, it's clearly a scam. Several weeks ago I got my annual eye exam. My prescription didn't change much, just a few degrees in one eye. Still have an astigmatism in the other. I have been wearing the same brand of contacts for years. The doctor asked me if I liked them. I said yes. We had a whole conversation about them being bi-weekly, and her double checking to ensure that I liked that. Then, she trialed me on the updated prescription. This part is important--I opened the trial contacts myself. I tried 3 different ones, just different numbers, *ALL THE SAME BRAND*. I know what they look like, I've been using them for years. My trial was the same as what I always use, what we discussed, and what I asked for. Flash forward to picking up my contacts. I pre paid when I ordered. When I arrived at the store, I look in the bag and the first thing I notice is that there are not enough boxes for a year supply. There are. 12 pairs of contacts. I pick up the box, and it's not my brand. It's the store's own personal brand. Not only are these monthlies, but they're a whole separate brand. I tell the girl at the desk (glass, black hair, shorter) that these are the wrong contacts. While she was professional enough, I do want to say that she was very passive aggressive with me. She told me that the doctor trialed me on this brand. I told her I opened up the contacts myself and that the doctor and I had a whole conversation about it, and that is factually untrue. She just says "okay" and then continued to say FIVE MORE TIMES that the doctor trialed me on this new brand and that I'm wrong. I shut it down each time. Anyway, I ask for my correct contacts, and come to find out that the doctor put it IN MY PRESCRIPTION that I can only have this brand. In my literal prescription, the thing that I should be able to take to any store, she noted that I can only have some soft flex thing or whatever that's in their own personal brand. This is absolutely crazy to me, which I made sure to tell them. I straight up asked to girl helping me "does this not seem like a scam to you? To say that I can only have the brand made by your company?" She didn't really have much to say about it. It was very clear that she thought I was the problem, when they're the ones running a very clear scam. I stayed until they changed my prescription to take that out. We never discussed this brand. Never discussed soft flex. The girl at the desk tried to tell me that my old brand wouldn't work for my astigmatism, but I told her the astigmatism isn't new, and that the brand does cater to it. She did a quick check to very quickly realize I was right. They tried to order me the correct contacts, but I had them refund my order entirely and give me an updated prescription to take elsewhere. This place will never, EVER be getting my business again. It feels like it should be illegal to put that I can only have this company's brand in my official medical prescription. Absolutely absurd. I'm sure they get a kick back from selling their own brand somehow, especially since this happened to me not once, but twice. And on the second time, I clarified with them at the order that I wanted the same brand I always wear, and they confirmed that's what I'd be getting. I walked out of there nearly an hour later with no contacts, and an absolute disgust from this company and Doctor Diem Tran. They should be ashamed of themselves. read more

america's best is a stretch. used to go to eyeglass world and had no issues. the staff was friendly and helpful. my lenses were changed out in less than 48 hours. the price was very affordable when paying oop. now that they changed they wont change my lenses cause my frames are designer. they had a long list of frames they won't do. they always had you sign a waiver and they charged you extra for your own frames, so not sure why the negative switch. hope their corporate sees this cause they lost a loyal customer. *2 stars cause their employees are always helpful and knowledgeable read more

I saw the negative reviews but decided to give them a try and I really should have listened.. lost my original glasses from Costco which were incredibly affordable, done in 7 days and easy to purchase. I wanted to try somewhere new to expand my options for frames. Huge mistake.. Took one month of waiting after paying $370 for a pair of basic black frames only for them to refund me because they wanted me to leave with glasses I couldn't see out of! I should have known this place would suck when I came in to order my glasses and they never measured me or checked my eyes. The first time I came to pick them up they were too big for my head and I completely couldn't see out of them? The man who made them (Rick) said it must be my fault and my prescription isn't accurate. His coworker kindly corrected him that my prescription is only 6 months old. He was offended and fought me till he agreed to correct them after continuously explaining that my prescription hasn't changed and I'm not leaving with glasses that hurt after seconds and made me feel cross eyed. The original woman crystal who put in my order without sizing me agreed to actually measure my eyes and face and have them remade. The reviews said sometimes they don't call you when they're done so I called on a Thursday to see if they were finished and crystal laughed on the phone and guaranteed they'd be done early the following week and I'd receive a call. The next day, Friday I get a text and of course no call saying they're ready for pick up. I go in after work and they were worse!! When I told them this is the 2nd time they messed it up Rick walked up angrily and started yelling at me about how he "did his best" and he "works very hard"?? I don't even know why he thought that was the proper way to handle me receiving useless glasses that I paid $370 for and waited weeks for! I was in shock! In no way did he try to resolve the issue, instead he became defensive and yelled at me about how hard he tried but what does that matter when you do your one job wrong TWICE! I'm not picking up a custom blanket or purse i need my glasses to see! They weren't apologetic at all and didn't care how it effected my daily life.. My job is 40 min north of my house and I have to drive in the mountains to get to work at 5am before sunrise and at night everyday. I've had to drive to work and home every day scared for 40 minutes that i might crash and it's been terrifying and very stressful. I tried to be understanding the first time and let it go but I'm incredibly disappointed with eyeglass world for having no resolution besides a refund after making me wait blindly without glasses for a month.. now I have to wait for my refund and reorder glasses elsewhere which will take more time. Nobody stepped in to help. Everybody working there is incredibly unprofessional and desperately needs to be retrained for this place to ever have hope. read more

There is a lot to like here. They have two powerful machines that check for glaucoma and take pictures of the retina without requiring the eyes to be dilated. They do a lot for the time spent. I have been to other offices that have older machines that left me tired. Here they accomplish the same thing. Less is more. After the initial machine measurements came the eye exam. The main doctor was out but the fill in Optometrist was top notch. I was very impressed with Dr. Tori Leon. From the moment she started my eye exam. She really knows her stuff. As part of my exam she showed me my retina scan and pointed out things I should know. Doctor Leon is very friendly and patient and has a nice way about her. She answered my questions clearly and thoroughly. I was taken after my exam to a large expansive room that had the largest selection of eyeglasses I have ever seen. I was greeted by Wendy. Wendy has been working with eyeglasses for many years. She really knows her stuff. Because of her expertise I was able to quickly find two pairs of glasses I like. The designer sun glasses I ordered are cutting edge and innovative. They have a rubber liner that blocks your breath from fogging the lenses. The liner blocking the breath and wind is held in place magnetically and can be removed as needed. These designer sunglasses are often ordered by motorcyclist. I looked online and it appears this is the only place that has the designer sporty sun glasses One of the progressive options that is offered here is high definition progressive. Think of it as enhancing your lenses to have a more detailed brilliant view. The overall impact borders on a 3D effect. Wendy told me how years ago she had seen the machine that creates the high definition lenses. It is large and about the size of a large van. It has strategic lasers that form the lenses giving them to contain the high definition capability. If you order progressive Lenses make sure you choose the high definition option. It cost more but is worth it. It also offers a wider viewing range improving your peripheral field view. This place offers a lot of high quality service and features of not only a very thorough exam but impressive high quality glasses at a reasonable price. If you do not have insurance the exam is $69. DO NOT GO HERE YOU WILL WASTE YOUR MONEY AND TIME My girlfriend and I went to eyeglass world Santee to get her new glasses after she lost her pair from Costco. This is the worst glasses store ever don't go here!! They wasted a month of her time claiming the glasses were done. She went to the store 2 times only for the glasses to have the wrong prescription and get yelled at because somehow they wanted to make it her fault?? Also for the second time they said it must have been because no one measured her eyes so they did yet they still came out wrong. They took no responsibility and had no solution. I have a Medicare advantage insurance plan Thru United Healthcare. This one of the largest companies in the US. I looked on the UHC website to locate a provider for a vision exam. Eyeglass World was listed with about 25 or more doctors and multiple locations. One store was close to my home so I made an appointment. When I arrived I gave them my insurance card. They tried to look me up on two different Insurance companies (Not UHC) and said I wasn't covered by these plans. I told them that UHC covers one eye exam per year and that there was a deductible. They had not heard of this even though they are listed on the UHC website. I called the number on the back of my insurance card and was again told that UHC covers one eye exam per year and that I was eligible for an exam and that Eyeglass World was a provider. They suggested Eyeglass world call them on the provider line. The receptionist did that and was not able to get what she needed from them. So I left without getting my eye checked and after wasting a lot of time trying to get then to accept insurance from UHC. It seems to me that if they have 25 doctors and multiple stores listed on the UHC website that they should know about the UHC vision coverage and accept it. I cannot say who is at fault for this issue; Eyeglass world or United Health care. In any case beware if you have vision coverage on a Medicare advantage plan. Check with the provider and your insurance company to make sure you have coverage and that the company doing the exam will accept it. read more

I call them on Saturday and the guy who answers the phone tells me without asking my name or info that all glasses promised on Saturday are ready. I'm sad to write this review because we have been going to the Santee Eyeglass World for years and have recommended them to many family and friends. But lately, and I'm sure it's due to staffing changes/COVID, the service has been terrible. Without getting into the boring details, our experience since my daughter's eye exam in June 2021 to now, late Sept 2021, has been nothing but delays and poor customer service. I was able to get my daughters glasses thru Walmart and contacts thru 1-800-contacts.com without the insurance/back order/bad customer service issues that we've recently been experiencing at Santee Eyeglass World. Oh, but I do want to mention that the actual eye exam (and followup contact fittings) with the Drs has been a positive experience. This review is for my mother. She went here because they accepted her insurance. When she was finishing her transaction she was given a price to pay that they told her was an estimated amount her insurance would pay and the rest was what she had to pay out of pocket. My mom was hesitant because she was worried about the estimated amount. She wanted a legitimate amount they would actually receive from the insurance. The girl there assured her that was the way they did it. My mom agreed to a price paid it in full right there and received a receipt. Now they have sent her a notice saying they didn't get as much as they expected from the insurance so they need her to pay $175 more or they will send her to collections in two weeks. Horrible business. Buyer beware. Going to contact better business bureau as well. read more

Dr. Amini was impatient and offensive. Her "comprehensive exam" lasted 5 minutes and she became visibly upset and claimed I was "confused" and "not focusing" because I asked her to go back to lens 1 and not picking immediately between 1 & 2 in the HALF-SECONDS she showed them to me! She DIDN'T ask me any questions regarding my medical or eye history, what brought me in that day/any troubles I've been having, and there was NO DISCUSSION afterwards! She NEVER asked if I had questions. She informed me ZERO about my new prescription or the health of my eyes. No offer of eye dilation for a comprehensive exam of the retina, macula, etc. Nothing!! I'm embarrassed to say I paid for that subpar, and completely joke of an exam. I think I was in such a shock of her horrible and unprofessional attitude!! I'm also questioning the validity of her exam. At other offices they show you multiple slides of letters of various sizes. This one had only 1 slide. Maybe 4 total rows of different sized letters. And we just used that to figure out my prescription and just by changing the lenses. And she said to only focus on the bottom teeny letters, not any of the top ones. I DO NOT recommend this place... Came here for an annual eye exam. We were greeted in the main office and taken back to a separate waiting room. I literally sat down for 5-6 minutes while they took my daughter back for testing, when she came back we were moved back to main office and seated at a table when I asked "When is the exam going to happen" to which I was told " it already did". I was floored, how can a comprehensive exam be done in 5 minutes?! Why didn't I even see the doctor? I wanted to run out of this place. It took longer to make the payment and get the Rx printed out than for the actual exam. To top it off, my daughter just told me she thinks the Rx is off. Never again. Eyeglass World really cares. I have double vision and need a prism. They made sure that my prism is exactly right. I got a superb eye exam by Dr. Vuong. She took her time to make sure the prescription is correct. No rushing me through like other places. I brought in my prescription from another Dr and selected a cute pair of frames. They have a huge selection and let me take my time choosing. After picking up the glasses the prescription seemed off - they asked me to try them for a week and if they weren't working out to bring them back. I had my Dr re-write a prescription for computer only and brought that back in with my glasses. They replaced the lenses and I had them back the next day. I have always gone to Costco, however, with a change of insurance I decided to go to eyeglass world. The eye exam was very pleasant. The optometrist was very knowledgeable and helpful. Just a tip: the 2 for whatever price does not count when you are using insurance to pay. Not a big deal. I ordered my glasses and was told my insurance was really good and would cover polycarbonate. So I ordered the polycarbonate and was told they would be ready same day. I had to work later so I told them I would be by the next morning. Next morning THEY WERE NOT READY. Was told to come by later but again had to work and came by next day and they were FINALLY done. Next issue I get my benefits in the mail stating polycarbonate WAS NOT COVERED. After calling and talking to the assistant manager and Peggy who I'm guessing works in billing I was told there was nothing they could do and was told to call corporate. After calling corporate they admitted it was the STORES FAULT IN ASSUMING I had coverage. They had no facts that it would be covered. So now I have to go back and trade in my lenses for regular lenses which are covered. I have come to the conclusion that either they don't know what they're doing or they are trying to scam people into getting things that aren't covered. !!! read more

Let me begin by saying that I've been wearing glasses for 15 years now and I have been to different places and I have to say I walked away extremely happy, the best experience. It's extremely convenient, fast, professional, friendly, and with an excellent customer service. 1. Booked appointment online. 2. They take VSP not many optometrist in my area,which was surprised they did. 3. Walked in and was directed straight to optometry. Luis helped me on the phone prior to visiting the office to confirm my insurance would cover. Other places don't take the time to check unless your there. He was able to tell me right away and check what my Co payments would be, took less than 2 minutes. 4. Once checked in Doctor Debra McIntire was so welcoming and very patient easy to talk to. Eye exams can be awkward sometimes for me but she was easy going. 5. The office is new and vibrant, I love it and will continue coming for my follow ups and all my eyecare. I had both contact and glasses exams done, I have to say I had the best experience here. Definitely recommend it. read more

You can get your eye exam and right after they help you to choose glasses. They will look at your insurance run the numbers and are able to tell you how much it is going to cost for different add-ons like blue light and anti glare before you check out. Well, I've called at 12:25pm to make an appointment asap for an eye exam and a nice lady said that they close 1pm to 2pm for lunch but if I could get there before 1pm they could take me. I was only 2 miles away, so I said yes. I got there 12:42pm and an asian lady (the receptionist) was very rude saying that I was late, that my appointment was 12:30pm and I was trying to explain that I called and she interrupted me saying that they were closing for lunch and if I wanted, I could come back after 2pm. Then another woman was leaving and they were closing the door after I left. It wasn't even 12:45pm yet! Well I left there really upset cause it was an emergency and she was really rude to me! I came in to buy new glasses, I was a little nervous because of Covid, I wasn't sure how I would be able to find glasses at all. I was greeted first by Debby and she made me instantly comfortable. It was extremely clean and I felt safe. The protocols they have in place are awesome. I was able to try on glasses and Debby helped me select a pair, additional assistance was given to me by Cari, with some insurance issues. Everything was resolved!! I heard about this place through a customer that visited and was definitely interested in the 2 for $78 deal! However, knowing it was too good to be true, I went anyway! I called earlier this morning hoping to schedule an eye exam, Brittany answered the phone and gave me the contact info for the doctor next door! Fast forward after the eye exam (I wrote a separate review for Dr. Amini on her Yelp page) it brought me to this store with their huge selection of glasses! Brittany ended up helping me with all my needs. It took about a half an hour to narrow down my two choices, but after I did, the rest of the process was super quick! I don't have any insurance and my total for 2 glasses frames (both were $129) with polycarbonate lenses(for both) and the year warranty, came out to $350! So if anything happens to my bad boys, like a scratch or crack, I can bring it back and they'll fix it up for free! Sweet! They also do same day service if possible, however, they only had lenses for one of them, so I told Brittany I would pick them up together when they were both ready! I visited this location on October 23rd to purchase several pairs of glasses. The visit started off good because they had a good selection of frames to choose from. After I selected the frames I was assisted by a lovely young lady who was tying to understand how to I put my prescription. She needed assistance and there was a lot of discussion on how to input. When this was completed they let me know that 2 pairs would be ready on Monday 10/25 and the other 2 pairs in 10 days. I picked up the glasses and loved the distance glasses but found that the reading glasses were not correct. I was not able to read my computer or phone and found that my eyes struggled to focus. After trying for three days I brought them back in on 10/30. The Manager assisted me and took measurements and made adjusts to the prescription. He told me that it would another 10 days. I reluctantly agreed and went on my way. On 11/18 I went back in because it was over 10 days and I had not received an update. I spoke to another manager who said she would help, and take ownership of this issue, but she was not able to locate any notes in my file and the glasses I left were no wear to be found. She said she would talk to the first manager and get back with me. This never happened. I was unable to return to the store until 11/30 to follow up. They advised that the glasses had been ready since 11/22, but they failed to contact me. This was upsetting because it was over a month since I ordered the glasses. I tried them on and was not thrilled with them. They were still off. In my opinion I don't think they made any adjustments. I asked for a refund on the other two pairs which they did but did not press for the original two pairs because the distance pair worked great.
