IF YOU'RE SMART YOU'LL AVOID THIS BUSINESS... I WISH I HAD.
Just as I will only suggest a business that I've used and liked, I'll also warn people away from one that performed terribly, like Stanton optical has, in fact terribly doesn't begin to describe my experience with them. This was my first experience needing glasses, and I only got them because the lasik eye surgeon said I'd need to wear them beforehand to know what surgery to perform. I looked up a few local places and they had what seemed a good offer... Two pair for $79. They only had five frames to choose from, all terrible and only two they could use for my specific prescription. When all was said and done it cost me $245 for one pair, with the second being of lesser value at no charge. Knowing nothing about glasses, the woman assured me it was a good deal and that I wouldn't find a better one anywhere. I bit the bullet on that and awaited their being crafted. After several weeks of me calling them the first pair came. The guy said the had arrived days earlier and when I asked why they have called he said flippantly we would have eventually. I picked them up and there was a scratch on one lense and needed to be re made. They said I could wear them in the mean time. While waiting for them, the second pair arrived. They were sun glasses and with the bigger lense made me feel like I was going to vomit. The woman said oh that happens to a lot of people with that kind of frame and lense so I asked why she didn't tell me that beforehand? During the initial visit, I had clearly explained I have a brain injury and this was my first time getting glasses and that she'd need to guide me through the process to avoid making any wrong decisions and I asked why she hasn't wanted me. She said it only happens to about 40% of people. I responded 40%!!! THAT'S A LOT. Surely enough to have warned me. Needless to say, I had to pick a different frame and have them re made, for which they attempted to charge me a fee. I told them because she knew it was my first time and she should have guided me properly they could either make them at no charge or provide me with a full refund. After a bit of back and forth, and me holding my ground, they grudgingly agreed to make them. A week later I got a text telling me the first pair of glasses was ready so I drove the six miles to get them. When I got there, they said that the text was a mistake, so I left. (That happened twice!) Two days later I got a call and they said I needed to bring the original pair back so they could install the lenses so I drove back over. Upon arriving they explained I needed to leave them and when the new lenses arrive they'd install them! I was upset, one because they said I could wear them, two because now that I was used to wearing them if have to go without and third because on the phone they made it sound like the lenses were there and I'd only have to wait a few minutes to have them put in the frames. A few more days went by and they called for me to pick up the sun glasses. Not one person on the staff was wrapping a covid mask as directed by the government and the guy had on a pair of gloves that were disgustingly gross dirty. He pulled out the glasses and made like he was going to put them on my face! I stopped him, pulled out sanitizer, and cleaned them. As I wiped them off I noticed the bottom of the lense was poorly cut. It was just bad workmanship but I told him I didn't want anything done about it because the entire experience was a miserable one. Several weeks later, and after many phone calls to the automated system, which told me there wasn't even an order that was pending, I called the store. The guy out me on hold to look for the original pair I had been waiting weeks for. He came back and said yes they arrived on Monday. I said but today is Thursday! When we're you going to call me? He responded by saying oh! I was just about to call you when the phone rang. I said yeah, right, I believe that! I wanted to complain to the manager, but she was the woman who helped me during the first visit to the store. I couldn't imagine that it would take EIGHT VISITS to get a stupid pair of glasses but it did. And in the end, they were made with poor craftsmanship. I'll be stick with these second rate glasses for some time, but what's worse is I'll always have a terrible memory of my first time getting glasses, and who wants to have that memory forever???
