I do not recommend Stanton Optical in Glendale. My main issue was how Haylee and store manager John Martinez handled a mistake made by their own store. I brought my 14-year-old son in to get contacts and learn how to insert them. After two appointments, he was still having difficulty, so they sent him home with a trial pair to practice. Afterward, I received TWO voicemails from the store saying his contacts were ready for pickup and telling me to come in at my earliest convenience. I drove roughly an hour round trip specifically because of those messages. When I arrived, Haylee refused to give me the contacts because my son supposedly needed another insertion appointment. I showed Haylee the voicemail transcription on my phone and had her read it herself. It clearly said the contacts were ready for pickup and told me to come in at my earliest convenience. Instead of acknowledging their miscommunication, the situation became argumentative. I asked for a refund. I paid approximately $400 in CASH, but they refused to return my cash and said I would have to wait up to 20 business days for a corporate check. I still agreed to make another appointment for my son. About an hour before that appointment, store manager John Martinez called and told me he wanted me to apologize to Haylee before they would continue with the appointment. I refused. I don't believe I owe an apology for being frustrated after their own voicemail caused me to make an unnecessary trip. John then hung up on me. Now my 14-year-old son has no contacts, I'm out approximately $400, and I have to spend another $400 somewhere else while waiting up to 20 business days for my refund. This has put me in a financial difficulty that could have easily been avoided. Mistakes happen. My problem is the lack of accountability and how Haylee and John Martinez handled the mistake afterward. A simple acknowledgment and apology would have resolved this. Instead, they lost a customer and left me waiting for my money while my son still doesn't have his contacts. I absolutely would not recommend this location. read more

Bad experience, unfortunately. I went there last year around April or May. First, the price that they advertised was inaccurate. They pressured me into trying a contact brand that I don't ever use, (I assume they get an incentive for that brand) for a trial period. But specifically said that if I didn't like them, I could just order the brand that I normally wear (which was also less expensive) When I was ready buy my contacts, I couldn't because they had written my prescription for the brand that they gave me for a trial period. I called them to have them updated for the brand that I actually wear and comfortable with, and the guy (who interacts with most customers as they walk in) was very demeaning about it and told me they wouldn't change it. Even though I informed him they assured me that my trial brand could be switched to the one I usually wear, once I was ready to purchase. John I think is his name. He's the one that is super theatrical & very feminine-like inside the actual store, but over the phone he was a completely different person. The friendly & overly dramatic personality in the store is very performative and fake. He was super annoyed before I even explained the situation & hung up on me and I had to call back. I was so polite to him over the phone and he was so strangely rude. He repeatedly cut me off and attempted to hang up again. He was so bitter and hateful towards me, without me even being rude to him. It was one of the worst customer service experience I've had. I review on Google also and I almost never write reviews, but because of how horrible I was treated by that weird man, I wanted to at least post about my experience. I've always loved Stanton Optical, and went to them for many years in another state. But this has permanently removed me as a loyal customer, and I will always warn people about this particular store in Glendale. read more

It has been a while since I made an appointment for a new prescription. I was searching for a place and saw the reviews for this location. I'm glad I chose to go here. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed. The people here enjoy their jobs and treat you like a human. They're not trying to make money off of you, they just want to make sure you can see. After my exam and initial ordering, I came back five days later to pick up my reading and distance glasses. Unfortunately I received two pairs of distance glasses. John sent one pair back to correct the error. Then six days later I came back again to pick up my reading glasses. I completed your customer survey, no response. Interestingly, I was treated very nice as a new customer but differently on my two subsequent returns to get my corrected pair. Finally, you should be clear in your advertisement that the $79 discount does not include polcarbonate lenses and automatically brings the balance to $139. It is weird though how you already have the two polycarbonate lenses with you when you flank me with the upgrade issue when we are sitting after the exam at the desk. My point is make it clear in your advertisement and verbally before the exam about the polycarbonate lenses. I will not return. read more

I had a very very bad experience with this optical store today. On 3/3/2025 they examined my eyes, gave me a prescription. I ordered my glasses from them . 3 weeks later I received my glasses and I was wearing them for 25 days but my eyes were still blurry so I came back to their store and they gave me another eyes exam. They told me something terrible wrong with my eyes and referred me to another eyes doctor ( specialist) and they also asked me to pay for the eyes exam. I asked them why they charged me again so they gave me a discount only charged me $25 . To me they should not but I paid them any way. And today I went to see a eyes doctor who they referred me to and this doctor said the prescription at the Stanton Optical was wrong so I came back the the store and they found out they was wrong and saying sorry and wanted to make another lenses for me but I have to pay more money. I wasn't happy about it so I returned my glasses to them. But they haven't refund my money and kicked me out calling the police if I don't leave their store. This is what happened to me today. This place is not good. I went to get an eye exam and it was virtual which was interesting in itself. During my exam, the eye doctor I guess is what he was on the screen froze, so I'm basically sitting there with this thing on my eyes, waiting for the next instruction, and there is silence, so that was different to say the least. I wasn't able to ask any questions or discuss my vision at the time with him. I was prescribed two pairs of glasses both being extremely strong to wear. My head hurts my eyes feel like they're being pulled out of my sockets. One pair was to be for reading and the other for driving. They gave me a pair for reading and a pair for distance and I said I didn't need glasses for distance, but they didn't really have anything else to say about it and sent me on my way. Just kept telling me my eyes will adjust. so I gave it a good amount of time and there was no change. I could never drive with the glasses they gave me. I could barely read with the glasses they gave me. I took them back in to tell them they're way too strong. I cannot see with these glasses. I'm still having to keep things very close to my face to be able to read and they basically told me they're fine and did nothing to help me with them. Unfortunately, I don't have the money to get new glasses so I am stuck with these glasses and they've actually made my life extremely miserable because I can't see without them and I can't really see very good with them and I do feel like they've just made my eyes worse now because my eyes are trying to adjust to them.....people tell me that's not true that doesn't happen and I think otherwise because I literally can't see like I used to after wearing these glasses. I don't recommend going to this place to get glasses, my personal opinion. read more

I was told to expect my glasses in a week or two. Long story short, it took 5 weeks. Was wondering how this happened since Stanton fills the orders through its Texas headquarters. They did call to inform me when my glasses would arrive, but it ultimately took an additional week past their own revised ETA. Explanations focused mainly around shipping delays due to weather and a restructuring of distribution centers. I don't have any proof that these claims were false but when the story is explained in a circle, it makes me wonder. If you have any significant eye issues, this is not the place, at all. If you call to inquire, the owner will lie and say whatever he can to get you in. Even going as far as lying multiple times claiming they have lenses that are at a -3.00 in stock. Abby and Yulissa will lie lie lie as well, claiming they have it, then once you have the eye exam the story slowly changes. Abby said, "at most it'll take two days" Then they traded off and Yulissa told me, "oh, well, we have to them made, it will by Monday, at the latest" during the sale to finalize it. Then Abby calls after I've paid and I'm driving down the road to tell me it'll be at least 10 days... The owner then proceeds to continue his string of lies, placating me by offering a refund and to do the glasses (I record my phone conversations for this reason). Fast forward to today, I call to inquire about said refund as I haven't seen the reversal charge and he proceeds to take an attitude and say, "my mem-memory must be hazy, I thought you wanted to proceed with the purchase" playing dumb and trying escalate matters yet again. I didn't continue the conversation any further and hung up. You are better off going to America's Best or Eyeglass World if you have significant eye issues. read more
