I heard good things about Holt Eye Care from my neighborhood and the reviews were good, so I figured I'd give them a shot. Like others had mentioned, the office is very clean, organized and the frame selection is great. The front desk staff and everyone I've met with is very welcoming and helpful. I arrived early for my 4pm and Anastasia (very friendly and helpful) asked I fill out additional paperwork. I did this prior to my appointment through their online portal but there was an extra charge for contact fittings. Standard practice these days. When I "checked in" on Yelp, they offered a free Optomap eye exam (a $35 value) which was great! This is where the eye doctor evaluates the retinas and the light-sensitive tissue at the back of my eyes. They also check for glaucoma and other issues. Thankfully, my eyes are very healthy but at 44, I will likely be doing this each year. Within 10 minutes of my arrival, I was called back by Amy, their tech. She took great care doing my tests, took notes about my glasses and contacts etc. She was very soft spoken and professional. While I was busy with her, Dr. Bogart interrupted us by asking her a question and they went back and forth for a minute or two about the answer. I felt that was a bit unprofessional and could have waited. The testing and questions took 30 minutes (standard for a new patient) and then I met with Dr. Bogart. She is very kind and listened to my concerns and needs. They were clearly very busy because after she had me try the new contacts she recommended, she excused herself to "finish" up with a patient next door. I was left waiting for about 10 minutes but again, maybe this is normal. I am not used to a one-on-one experience at Target. It was confirmed I am still dealing with dry eye and Anastasia gave me additional drops to use at night as I was leaving. Nice of her to take the time to chat with me, otherwise I wouldn't have known this was an option since Dr. Bogard made no mention. I was also sent home with two different types of contacts to try for a few weeks before I chose what to order. After that was finished, I sat down with Robert to purchase new glasses. ***Two weeks later*** I met with Melissa to get my new glasses fitted and she was really great! Patient with my questions, wanted to ensure my glasses fit well and told me to call or text if there were ever any issues. While I was there, I mentioned the two-week trial contacts weren't working any better than the previous pair I had been wearing for years. After a short discussion, they offered a second pair to try, at no cost. This office really knows about customer service and takes care of their customers. Happy to have found them!

They charge extra fees for services they don't even properly provide and will nickel-and-dime you. I went in for a contact lens exam and was charged a contact lens evaluation fee, which felt completely unjustified because Holt didn't actually evaluate anything. After paying the exam copay, evaluation fee, and refraction fee, I noticed the prescription they gave me was only changed by 0.5 from my previous prescription. What bothered me most was that Holt never mentioned the prescription change, never explained why it was changed, and never offered trial lenses or asked me to test the new power to see if it worked better. None of that happened. When I got home and noticed the change, I called the office. They told me that if Holt didn't discuss it during the appointment, I would need to schedule another appointment just to ask about it. That's completely unacceptable. We were charged extra for services they claimed to provide but clearly did not. I would not recommend going there. If you do decide to make an appointment, call ahead and ask for a full breakdown of every possible charge, otherwise they'll hit you with unexpected fees.

I had an awesome experience at LensCrafters in Surprise!…read more About two months ago, I had an issue with the fishing wire on my semi-rimless glasses. I took them to another optical department for a repair, but they told me they didn't have the correct length of wire and had to rig the repair. Afterward, the frames never felt quite right. Today, I noticed the wire was actually hanging out from the top of my frame. I first stopped at another optical center in Surprise that I knew did repairs, but they told me they wouldn't repair frames that weren't purchased from their location. So I went to LensCrafters in Surprise -- and what a difference! From the moment I walked in, the team was friendly, welcoming, and completely confident that they could fix my glasses. Keep in mind, this was only about an hour and a half before closing. Ricardo told me, "I'll take care of your glasses. Just give me about an hour." I ran a few errands, and before long I received a call saying my glasses were ready. When I returned, Ricardo explained that he had straightened the frames and installed all-new wire. I put them on, and they felt fantastic -- comfortable, straight, and sitting perfectly on my face. I asked what I owed them, and they wouldn't accept payment. I was told it's LensCrafters' policy to provide these types of repairs at no charge. The confidence, friendliness, and willingness to help really impressed me. I called in to ask them what insurances they accepted, how much their eye exams were, and if they were able to squeeze me in that same day (they did!). Out of all the optometry offices I've been to, this was the only office that has ample parking! Searching for parking at a doctor's appointment is just something I don't want to deal with! Scott greeted me with the most friendliest smile! He introduced himself, checked me in, and gave me a new patient form to fill out. As I was completing my form, Scott was extremely personable and made me feel very welcomed. Scott's laugh is contagious!! At the end of my appointment, I felt like this place was my home! Kathleen got me started on pre-testing and was super sweet and gentle! She always has a huge smile and that made me feel very comfortable there. Dr. Sarah Paikowsky is literally a hidden gem. I've never had such an amazing connection with a doctor before. Nowadays you see many doctors going in and out of patients' exam rooms every few minutes. This was not the case here. Although my appointment was roughly 30 minutes, Dr. Sarah stayed with me and was extremely thorough. She made sure I knew what she was talking about before I even left her office. She did an amazing job explaining what was going on with my eyes, gave me great suggestions on how to properly care for my eyes, and advice on what I should do to prevent my vision from getting worse. Dr. Sarah did something that nobody else does, and that was to show me my old prescription versus the new prescription. This clearly shows that it is a huge upgrade (bad thing for me because my vision got worse!), I can see 1000x better now! Anyway, from the beginning the front office staff were welcoming, helpful and kind. They even cleaned our (me and the hubs) sunglasses while I waited. Dr. Smith was nice, explained what she was doing and took her time to really examine my eyes. I didn't feel rushed, left with a new pair of contacts (at no charge) and felt valued. When it came time to purchase what I needed for the year, I left with a big discount and a great rebate saving me another $50.

So in comparison to my old eye doc, it seems perhaps Dr. O is slightly more expensive. But overall, I found the visit to be just fine and I will be returning later this year for my next annual visit.
