A very unhappy customer. Sold me a 2015 discontinued frame last yr. It fell apart at the stem. It was not damaged or broken. The weld that holds the screw part fell out of the stem. Had a challenge replacing the frame because it was discontinued to begin with and my lense wouldn't fit their current stock. Found another discontinued frame in the back that worked ok but had to buy it. No warranty. Ebay offered the exact lense for much less. I'm not happy realizing they sell discontinued frames and give you a bit of of a discount so you think your getting a great deal. Corporate office only offered to document my complaint. They didn't seem to care. Was a customer for years but won't continue to use them after this experience. read more

Do not believe their advertising because it really is ridiculous. You cannot get two pairs for $79.00 and and eye exam the same day unless you are in the .001 percent of people with no issues. The eye lab on premises is basically for show and nothing seems to be running smoothly or on time. I had an appointment and get there to find out it's a virtual appointment and it's crazy impersonal. When they are flashing comparison screens, I was told do not squint. When I said I couldn't read a line, they said "try it with squinting". Then I had to reschedule to see an actual doctor in person who only is on-site twice a month. I made an appointment which turns out means nothing in regard to time since they routinely overbook in the doctors own words. No one tells you anything. They point out the $79.00 glasses to try on and say nothing about all the other walls. I ended up paying $450.00 and there is a 18 DAY wait. I was reassured I was getting the best price in their current promotion. They did not show me the promotions available. The virtual exam should be stated. Also they said dilation is never necessary. I have serious doubts about their business model and believe they are getting away with false advertising. read more

Stanton Optical - Air bubble in the middle of the glass - Optometrists Near Me - Fair Oaks, California

I've been purchasing my glasses from a small local optometry business near my former home. They give personalized attention to the customer and are rated 4.5 stars on Yelp. After my eye exam I perused the eye glass frames in their showroom. I didn't find anything I wanted and I could have waited for a new shipment in three weeks but was anxious to get my new glasses now. I decided to go to this place because it was 5 minutes from my new home even though it had a so so rating. After looking at about 20 different frames I found one that I wanted.. The lady was very helpful and patient with me picking out the frames. After three weeks waiting for my glasses I received a text message to pick them up. I arrived at the store and was directed to the pickup station. After a short wait someone attended to me and sifted through the bins and found my glasses and cleaned them and handed them to me and that's it. The glasses were really loose and slid down my nose and were crooked on on face. It was clear that she really didn't know how to adjust the frames because none of what she was doing worked. I asked if there was anyone else that can help me and she didn't understand or there wasn't anyone else. I looked around the store but there was only one other person with another customer, so she was it. I told the attendant I'll be back. I adjusted them at home myself and they sort of work. Typically from my many years of experience, the attendant will make sure they fit properly by adjusting the nose bridge and stems to assure they they align to the center of the eyes. However the attendant did none of that nor offered it. My take away: They are very helpful with me buying the frames, but fell short after that. Maybe it was their off day. For me, the next time I'll find a business that has a score greater than 4 stars. read more

I highly recommend Stanton Optical on Madison Avenue in Fair Oaks to anyone needing optical care. My fiancée purchased a prescription for eye glasses and exam a year ago for me, but since I do not live nearby, I did not use the prescription until today. Luckily, the store manager, Kristine Osterberg, was working on a Sunday, typically her day off and remembered my fiancée. She quickly helped us and honored our purchase from a year ago. The entire staff was helpful and very friendly. Love my new glasses! Thanks, Kristine!! read more

This place is the biggest scam of all I call them for an eye exam for my contact lenses And after my exam they ask me if I just want the exam I said yes And right after they said they didn't have my trial and it would take a month to arrive And just before that I saw them giving contacts trial to 3 people while I was waiting for my turn And I notice how the other people all bought contacts from them I have never been to an eye doctor that didn't have my trial contacts before BTW all their hand sanitizer are empty I asked if they had more Since they had way too many people inside And the lady said they don't have anymore. read more

The whole process was wonderful. Easy, friendly checking, minimal waiting for the doctor. Dr. Shu was fabulous. He spent a good time to explain everything in a very simple understanding way. He took time to explain all the results and options. Big plus Dr. Shu! The optician was great too. Pouneh explained everything after Doctor visited me. She spent extra time explaining new options that might be available along with the pros and cons. Due to the Covid pandemic, she walked with me while carrying a box to collect the frames I touched in order to sanitize them after all. Very helpful and friendly. Another big plus goes to Pouneh. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about that process. Highly recommend. read more

I'll give 'em 2 stars because they did step up and try to make it right. However, I'm wondering if they only did so because they read my original 1 star review. I went in originally on Feb 13. The store was clean and organized. I got my exam, and picked out the frames. The first problem came when she told me that the glasses would take 2 weeks to get back. I'm leaving for overseas on the 3rd of March, so that would be cutting it *VERY* close. I went in with the expectation of not paying the "advertised" price, as my glasses are especially strong. We priced out the cost of 2 frames, ( From the economy section,) and progressive bifocals because I *can't* do the ones with the line. It came out to like $340. Still not bad, because I had a $150 Groupon. Nope!! The $340 was the "promotional price." if I wanted to use the Groupon, I would have to pay full price. I said that's it, I'm done, and walked out. If they would have called me back into the store to pay for the exam, I would have flatly refused. I felt like I was the victim of a bait-and-switch. Today, I got a call from the lady at Stanton that I had dealt with. She apologized for the situation in which I had walked out. She offered to do me either 1 or 2 pair of progressive bifocals for $99. (I forget which...) I politely declined, telling her that by this time, they no longer would be ready by the time i left for overseas. She ended the call telling me that she would honor the offer when I got back. That *was* nice of her, but I will not take them up on it.I'm having eye surgery a couple of weeks after the trip and my prescription will probably change again. I only need an extra pair in case something happens to me on my trip. Also, I don't appreciate the way I was treated in the first place. read more

I have nothing but praise for the two employees working at the Madison Avenue location on the afternoon of Tuesday, June 8. They were short-staffed and undeniably overwhelmed with the volume of appointments that had been scheduled. Still, they each had a positive and friendly attitude, they were sympathetic with clients who had traveled long distances for their appointments and the elderly patients who had to wait well past their appointment times. This was no fault of the employees, as they were both working at a very fast-pace and checking in with each customer frequently as to their approximate wait times. I wish I could remember their names to personally thank them for their excellent customer service (I did before I left). I would also like to say that I thought the doctor who performed the telehealth eye exam was very friendly and professional, and it was a good experience. If you are hesitant about the idea of a telehealth exam, I believe there is a doctor who does in-person appointments but you have to schedule that specifically. This is my second time purchasing glasses from Stanton Optical but my first time having an eye exam. I do not think it will be my last. read more

When you walk in you wait near the entrance to have your temperature check. After that they provide you with a tray to hold your glasses you are trying out and ask you to keep it in the tray to sanitize them when you are done shopping. Kristine helped us at the check out and was thorough on what was available to us such as the buy one get one free frame as well as the upgrade of the platinum blue. The process went through quickly but not too fast that I couldn't follow up. I appreciated the efficiency to go through clients but also ensured if we had any questions she did not mind to go into detail on it. read more

Made an online appointment for a Friday afternoon not knowing what to expect. Was greeted by Mariah, so polite and friendly- did the COVID temp check and then directed me to the check in. Filled out the clipboard with updated info and the Mariah did the first eye exams. After those went into a room where a virtual optometrist did my vision exam. Very smooth. Next step was frame selection. Easy. Then met with Alicia who helped me decide on frames, did the cost break out and then frame measurements. The smoothest eye glasses appointment! In and out in 80 minutes! Highly recommend this place, professional and friendly. Do not like the commercials ( the guy is too rude and loud) but they did a great Job on service! read more

This store is a hot mess. And I would never spend a dime here. Arrived to workers behind the glasses window. They ignored me until I went over to them because the eye exam area is on the other side. Started my eye exam with the desk guy where they do the pictures and blow air in your eyes. Then moved to the standard room with the chair. I was confused because there was no doctor. I then looked up at a tv screen and some young lady in, a lab coat, introduced herself as a technician. She wasn't an eye doctor. I was like what? Where's the doctor. The response was that the doctor is only in on Tuesdays. I'm sorry, but what???? This whole working remote thing has gone too far. A virtual eye appointment with someone who is not even a doctor? No thank you. I get it with a regular doctor if you have a cold or stubbed your toe and just want an X-ray. Virtual is fine. But eye appointment!? No. I will never go back there. read more

I had a terrible experience here today. Terrible. It is a special time right now and I understand that businesses might be operating in limited capacity so I called their number trying to make an appointment. But the automated voice on the phone says "walk-ins available," so I thought oh I can just walk in. Two hours later since I made the phone call, I went to the store. They are operating with some protective measures such as temperature check and social distancing. I'm all for that, I'm not against science. I waited for about 5 minutes, some front desk girl with long straight black hair finally came over to check my temperature and asked me if I had an appointment. I said no and thought it wouldn't be a big deal since their customer service on the phone says no appointments needed. She asked me to wait again. Finally she called me and told me that I needed an appointment because they didn't want too many customers in the place right now. Not really the response I expected to hear. I further inquired that why I was told the opposite over the phone, she said, and I quote "oh that's not us. That's customer service." To which I followed up with " you guys don't have customer service here?" She responded " No, they are in Nicaragua." I can testify that there is no customer service at that place. None. That front desk girl treated me like I'm some kinda of anti-science freak that doesn't believe in social distancing and gave her a hard time about appointments. And told me that she'd let me look at their glass selection only because "you are all upset right now" but that I have carry a tray so that they know which glasses to sanitize. I think I met the A-hole of the year today. And I admit that I got aggravated during my conversation with her, like any normal human would. Honestly, their glass selection is shit. I looked for less than a minute and just got the hell out of that place. But that human being ruined my day. read more

This is a great! Stanton Optical location. I was a bit hesitant at returning after last years experience when my husband and I both took advantage of the Optical specials the July before last and had to face a crowd when crowds, let's just say, are not my specialty. This year I was pleasantly surprised at much lower crowd to face, although the initial greeting was not too welcoming, all ended well and on a highly satisfied note. Special mention to Kristine who ushered us out the door in flaring style helping us get the best value for an outstanding service...The Stanton Optical Eye Exam, after all, "ALL'S WELL THAT ENDS WELL". The last time I had gotten glasses I elected for the 2/$79 deal which is total BS cause none of the frames are flattering so you upgrade & nearly $350 later you have your 2 pairs. Fast forward a few years my glasses broke & I called Stanton since I purchased it from them. I was told by their employee that they couldn't fix it because my prescription is outdated. Hello we're in a pandemic & you're not taking appointments but yet you can't help a fellow human out by putting a screw to hold the lenses in? BIG SHOUT OUT TO EYEGLASS WORLD FOR COMING THROUGH AND NOT ONLY FIXING THE LENSE BUT ADDING A NOSE PIECE TO MAKE THEM PERFECT TO WEAR AGAIN. Hey I was traveling across the country and needed an emergency pair of glasses. We all know how expensive that can be. Well thank God I ran into this wonderful woman named Alisha. She got me the styling pair and made the lens at the absolute lowest price she could find. I walked in to this store and walked out 45 mins later with my glasses. They looked good and extremely affordable. Bravo Alisha you rock thank you. If it was not for Stanton's optical I would have never been able to dive at night all the way home to Alabama. read more

Very helpful and friendly staff! From the very start with speaking with someone on the phone to ask a question about insurance, to setting up an appt immediately. Went to first get an eye exam, everything went very smooth, great communication, great help. I wasn't able to pick out glasses at that visit (on my part). Went back a week later to pick out my glasses and purchase. Very big selection of glasses, great deals, again helpful and friendly staff. Received my glasses the same day. read more

Do not patronize the Stanton Optical in Fairoaks, CA! The manager Kristine Osterberg sold me expired contacts;that were the wrong prescription in exchange for a $50 Ulta gift card. After being unable to resolve this issue with the store I escalated my concern to corporate. I was promised a call back from. Stanton within 24-48 hours and 2 weeks later have heard nothing. I'm absolutely appalled with the lack of professionalism that Ms. Osterberg and Stanton corporate have in managing customer complaints. This would absolutely be the last place I would give my business! read more

As a follow up to earlier review of 3/21/22. I went in for the deal of exam + two pairs of glasses. Well not only was the exam too brief as it was via video with some unkown Dr, from god knows where, but I still haven't received my second pair of glasses. They only delivered one pair when I was notified by email that they were ready for pick up. (DONT ASSUME BOTH PAIRS ARE READY) So much for honoring their agreement with the customer. And they obviously are too busy to care otherwise they would have contacted me. Time for a refund I guess. Please be cautious when using them. read more

Associate made us pay under someone else's account. So they gave my glasses away. When I call in, the customer service can't patch me through to the store. They tell me to call back later. I would like to thank the manager Kristine for the awesome service she provided. That was my first experience in glasses prescription, and she made me feel really comfortable. Make sure to do your homework and be prepared prior to going in. They will definitely try and over charge you and omit all ongoing sales or ways to get you the best price possible. They also do not provide cleaning solutions or materials to clean your glasses which was very odd to me since it's inexpensive and typically provided with all optical purchases. There are other locations doing 2 for $60 sales and I recommend looking into those prior to getting your glasses here. read more

This place is a joke. There are doctors on sight only on Tuesday. And you can only get frames on the same day as the exam. You cannot upgrade your lenses on the 2 for $79 so you're forced to pay for higher tiered frames. Total scam. Don't go here. Only reason for 2 stars is the staff was ok. read more

Pure marketing scam! You will be misled by their promotional price of $59, but you will end up paying at least $200+ (if not $400) for two pairs of barely-okay glasses. If you don't believe, just ask them about the final price of what you want (in written) as soon as you walk in, and before they push you to eye-exam and fool you by their just-spoken words that they will change! Their service, from almost any aspect, also sucks. So if it's not your first time being in a glasses shop to get excited by the quantity of medicore frames you see, just take your money and go somewhere else. read more

My friend was in desperate need of glasses so we decided to try this place out. We made an online appointment and came in on a Saturday morning. They had advertised that you could get two glasses for some really low price of $79 but I already knew that those would be the ugliest frames ever, and I was right. We went with the buy one pair and get one free. You also get a free eye exam if you purchase your glasses there. You pay for the eye exam and then they discount that off the price of the glasses. They do give you your prescription to take with you though. We chose two black frames that looked really nice and they were able to get both of the glasses ready in about 20 minutes so we didn't have to come back to pick them up. These glasses aren't name brand or anything but they are very stylish. However, they give you the cheapest plastic eye glass case I have ever seen. One of them is aligned weird and it's very hard to close. We didn't notice that until after we left. If you need very basic glasses...I think that Stanton is just fine. If you have more specialized needs, I would go elsewhere. read more

Avoid Stanton Optical at all costs!! October-December and still no glasses This is going to be long but reading this could save you from dealing with what I've had to deal with these past 3 months. I used Stanton optical in I think 2017. It was a great experience I went to the galleria blvd location. With this in mind thinking it would be a breeze I scheduled one this year in October at the one in fair oaks. First of all I made an appointment online. In doing that I filled out everything I needed to online. When I came in however I needed to fill everything out again for some reason. Then I had to wait probably 30 min or more to get my eyes checked even though I had an appointment and was not a walk in. When I was getting my eyes checked the machines weren't working. I'm not sure if the person was new but that took a good amount of time too and I was in a tiny closet getting my eyes checked which was a very anxiety inducing experience for me. Then when I thought I was going to see a doctor it was a zoom call! Afterwards, I had to wait a long time for my prescription while I looked for glasses and the ladies working there didn't seem to know what they were doing and were sending me back and forth between desk stations. I got out of there after probably 3 hours. Now fast forward to actually choosing glasses as I didn't that day. I went in to pick out glasses with my husband 2 days later. It didn't take me long at all and I just wanted to check out and yet we waited in line with no body at the desk for 40 min. I was asked for all of my information again and I told them I filled it out a couple days prior and they said they probably threw it away lol. When we finally got helped the girl was helpful and sweet, but when I went back in 2 weeks later to get my glasses the prescription was entirely wrong!! She made me an appointment with an in person doctor which is great but then fast forward to the day of my appointment, I had just pulled into the parking lot when I received a phone call from them, telling me the doctor was overbooked... so I rescheduled an appointment for a different day (the 21st, like two weeks later) at the Sac location. The doctor I saw was the only good part of the entire experience. He was extremely professional and knowledgeable. Anyways, we finished and I got set up with a new prescription. The lady at the desk gave me two options, she said that I could take the prescription over to the one closer to my home or she could send it over for me and let them know I have a new prescription. Which do you think I chose? Send it over! We're just missing one tiny detail though. Despite the fact that I was told that all I had to do is get my eyes rechecked and they would make my new glasses, apparently I need to call them myself to tell them to make the glasses? The lady that said she could send the prescription over did not tell me that I needed to call myself to let them know they need to be remade, nor should I have to. I mean, how hard is it to pick up the phone or send an email and say "hey, here is the prescription, begin making the new glasses"?? Especially when that's what they said they would do!! So, cut to ANOTHER two weeks later when my glasses SHOULD have been done, I find out that they hadn't even begun making them because... no one told them to...‍and I was told it would take two weeks AGAIN! I then just decided to ask for a refund for the glasses we paid for two months ago and give our money to someone that deserves it, and even that was a hassle... My husband and I called customer service Monday and the man that helped us called the Stanton that I've been going to and they DIDN'T ANSWER HIM! So the man gave us a number and said they would call us in 24-48 hours. After 48 hours I called them and they didn't answer I just got send to corporate and he also called and they didn't answer him either. I received a call Saturday I believe (so definitely past the time frame given) and the refund has now been started but man all of this was way more complicated than it needed to be, and I still don't have any glasses... read more

Went for an exam today and there was no doctor present. Onlly a technician was there and only on a computer screen. I walked out and will NEVER return. read more

Great location and easily accessible. The staff is nice and the atmosphere is comfortable. There are so many options for glasses and they make it very easy. I'm always hesitant to get my eyes checked. I think eyes are weird. Haha. So today was long overdue! The receptionist for check in for the eye appointment wasn't very friendly. She just simply did her job. Can't complain if she's not rude. As for the gentleman who actually checked me eyes - he's something else! His directness can come off rude for some. For me, I just wanted to answer back frankly (after he was done with my eyes). This man was older and was rounder (for you calling in to schedule an appointment). I didn't catch his name and should have! My mistake. For the lovely lady who helped me find glasses - thank you Yana. She is new and absolutely sweet. She's not afraid to ask for help and kindly give her opinion when you try in glasses. If it wasn't for her, Staton's would have gotten 3 stars. When I went back in to pick up my glasses the next day, she was still friendly and remember me. She'll make you want to come back for more glasses! *Also, please get a babysitter for the loud, coughing child that was stuck there! Thanks! read more

It took them 3 months to STILL not contact me to tell me that the contacts I had paid for in June had arrived and were ready for pick up. I was never left a voicemail or given any follow up phone calls to notify me that my order was available. I also had been pressured into getting contacts when I had my eye exam. I wanted to check with my parents regarding our insurance coverage to see whether they wanted me to continue purchasing from Costco as we always have or to try Stanton. There was definitely some miscommunication with myself and whoever helped me that day, I didn't remember agreeing to let them charge my insurance for contacts. I thought the $10 charge was for my exam. That was also my fault for not checking the receipt. Anyways was told I'd get a call in a week. It never came. Nor did a voicemail. Three months later, I'm now desperately in need of contacts. Had been wearing the sample I received from my exam for the last three months. I then went to the Arden location last week to finally order contacts and new glasses because I assumed I just never ordered contacts my last visit since again, I never received a call. To make a long story short. They struggle to check their system thoroughly. I had to find out from the Arden location that I had already ordered contacts. The last three months I thought I just forgot to order them or was just being lazy. I called today to confirm my order and was left on hold for 30 mins. Which is exactly the time it took me to drive over and park. I was still on hold when I parked. Only giving 2 stars because though the general manager Kristine wasn't helping me, I saw her helping the family who entered before me, replace their 11 yr old son's broken frames -- which were no longer manufactured. So she's definitely the reason why people continue to come here. As for everyone else.... questionable. They all seem like they don't want to be there. One employee saw the line building up and walked over and said "Wow! I've never seen a line here before!" and then walked away. He didn't bother to ask if we were here for pick up or an appointment. Not everyone knows that there's two separate lines for glasses or contacts. Most likely will never order from here again. I find it highly unprofessional to not check back in multiple times on their patients if they haven't been in IN 3 WHOLE ASS MONTHS to pick up their prescription. read more
