Everything was fine.. until picking the frames. The lady who assisted me here hardly let me have any say in what frames would work with my prescription, granted it is a strong one but she immediately said no to the few I did pick (and selected for that exact reason) even though they were thicker frames for the prescription, some were too big, too narrow, too wide, didn't work my face, didn't fit my nose. And I'm a bit more alternative and usually have a black rectangle frame, but she said the best looking ones, the ones that worked with my skin tone, the one that worked with my nose, were the neutral pinkish square frames... after so much consideration, she sold me on them, a brand new look and everything. I had repeatedly asked for blue light filter protection, but still had to call after I left to make sure they had applied this since they never confirmed it with me. Fast forward two weeks and I'm two days away from pick up, I'm ready! I get a call, same person, she can't do the prescription, the lenses and the frames just won't work, they're basically useless. Tells me to come in and we can pick out something else.. at this point though I'm just not coming back. Horrible experience. Caseigh greeted us and was so friendly and helpful...our next experience was with a staff member, she too was great, followed up by Dr. A, he was thorough and explained my eye scan, and last brilliant touch was Ty, she was transparent, explained our coverage. Very slow wait times. I should've read the reviews before coming. Made my appointment for 11am and as of 1118 I am still waiting. Was told another 10-15 mins. Considering it's a virtual appointment it seems they just stack up appointment and expect people to wait. I also am not very pleased with the glasses selection. I have been coming to the Citrus Heights office for the last few years now. My last appointment was not good. This virtual appointment thing they do now is awful. If I'm going to have someone take care of my eyes I would at least like to see someone in person. The tests that were done I would barely get a chance to answer and the Dr. had changed the slide I was supposed to say was better or worse. I know now I was probably saying the wrong thing because my prescriptions are terrible! I can't even see my computer screen through what are supposed to be computer glasses. I'm having to use old ones until I can find a new optometrist. I will not be going back to this company if they are continuing their virtual exams and have no other choices. Sad because the people there are very nice for the most part but I want to actually see a live person for my exam. read more

Came to a scheduled appointment and had to wait an hour in a small room for the doctor to finally come see me. Ordered a pair of prescription glasses , waited for them to call me when they arrived, they never did, per usual . When I called them, I learned that the glasses have indeed arrived, but had the wrong coating on the lenses so instead of calling me , owning to their mistake and letting me know what's next they did nothing until I called ...and then let me know I have to wait two more weeks for the correction . Time to find a different provider. ...and then the correction come in wrong again... And I have to get them the glasses again for them to send out again...absolute disaster service. read more

After moving to the area I took my son to another local optometrist. It was satisfactory but he refused to wear his glasses because he was not happy with how his glasses made his eyes look. So I went to search for a new optometrist who may be able to help. I am so glad we did! The doctor provided a great solution and finally, my son would wear his glasses because he no longer had far-sightedness bug eyes! We have been coming here for years. It can take a while to get in but that is because we need after-work appointments. All of the staff are extremely friendly. The doctors take their time explaining everything and answering all our questions. My son has been interested in laser surgery for years and every year they are encouraging and provide an update. There are lots of frame selections. I have a hard time deciding because of all the great options. My son has had to go in for repairs a couple of times and they take great care of him on the spot. The last time he went in they noticed some issues with one of his lenses and said they would order him a new lens under warranty. During COVID times, it has been taking a little longer to get orders fulfilled but that is to be expected. I would absolutely recommend this eye center for all of your vision needs! read more

I picked out new glasses and it has been over two weeks and they have not contacted me to let me know the status of my order. From the staff greeting you when you walk in, to the tech that prepares Dr. Linda Rappa OD for her appointment, it is always a positive and pleasant experience. Dr. Rappa spends so much time sharing her knowledge and advice with you as well as educating you on what you need to know and take care of with your eyes. You would think this should be the normal, but it's not! Even after seeing an Ophthalmologist at Kaiser a MD. I learned more from Dr. Rappa with her 3D images and time she takes to explain to me what's going on. Then I spent time with the eye technician who helped me pick out my glasses and he was so patient and helpful! This was even on a busy Saturday! They all awesome and I highly recommend them! read more

I hate both sets of glasses (I got sunglasses and regular). They came to around $650 for both pairs due to progressive lenses. The reason I hate them is because even though I had the prescription changed since the first go-round was even worse, I still can only see out of the bottom part of the glasses which means I have to raise my head way up high to see street signs, etc. I realized the distance and middle part of the prescription just didn't work for me, but too late as they have a 30-day policy. I can't use either pair and am back to wearing my $10 reading glasses from Rite-Aid for work on the computer. read more

I've been going here for years and loved my optemetrist and office. However I would no longer recommend this place based on my experience at my last visit. The visit actually went well like every other one. The issue started when I was billed for a covered benefit. I've tried to resolve the issue via phone with no resolution. Now I've been sent to collections. The issue is that they billed my standard contact lense fitting under premium. So if you want to take the chance of having to spend extra time of your life resolving crap that shouldn't happen, go here. It's super dissapointing not to mention stressful. It's kind of my fault for not realizing the billing error earlier, life got in the way, and now here we are. read more

This is our first time coming to this location. We had some hiccups with the front desk not being able to pull up our pre appointment paperwork so we had to re sign everything again. The front desk isn't the friendliest or most welcoming but don't let that stop you from coming to see Dr. Fuerst. He is an amazing professional who is highly trained with years of experience that is excellent at what he does. He treated both of my boys and husband and took great care of them. He answered all of our questions and concerns, made the boys feel comfortable and welcome. He made this experience so memorable for them. He is now our family doctor. Marie have is an excellent optician who is AMAZING with children. Her costumer service made up for the lack of in the front desk. She goes above and beyond to make you feel welcomed and not rushed at all while selecting your glasses. My little one had a melt down and she completely understood and help the overall experience so much better with her help. Update we picked up today and Marie helped us again. She is an Angel! I just got canceled again in January and i had this appt since early DEC. I got canceled back in Sept or Nov. IM done with these people. And also the front desk is asking you to sign up for stuff you do not need trying to take extra money out of your pockets. I got better service in Tijuana. I miss living by the border. I have VSP insurance and needed an "in-network" optometric in order to purchase glasses without paying upfront & EYEcenter popped up in my search. It is a small place hidden amongst other offices in a corporate strip mall. The front faced Greenback, so it was relatively easy to find. The receptionist were very friendly and they had a decent amount of frames to look at. I chose a pair of frames and was fitted for them. Two weeks later, they were ready to be picked up. My only complaint is that they did not call me when they were ready, I called them. When I went to pick them up, I was told that they didn't have them. After telling them that I was told that they were there, she dug a little deeper and found them. I've never worn glasses before, so this is all new to me. I felt like their prices seemed fair and everyone that I came into contact with were very nice. read more

Pretty speechless about what happened here because everything that could go wrong did. First, I asked to schedule with an optometrist who had misight certification because I was interested specifically in these contacts for my daughter. I was assured their optometrist was so certified. Secondly, I also asked if my daughter would need to redo her refraction to get contacts. She saw a different eye doctor that month and already had an eyeglass prescription but that doctor did not do myopia control. I was assured we would not need to redo the refraction. When we arrived, I was told the doctor we were seeing did not have misight certification, so she basically could not prescribe the contacts we were specifically interested in. In addition, they would not honor a prescription from another eye doctor and we would have to pay for a new one. On top of all that, we were told we made the wrong kind of appointment for myopia control, that we should have enrolled in their myopia control clinic. And since the optometrist who is certified in misight is located at another office, we would need to be seen there instead. Mind you, the call center told me this Citrus Heights office was where we should be seen. After all this, the contact lens trainer said he would contact me the next day to schedule at the other location. When he didn't call within a few days, I called him, upon which he responded he would call me back in 30 min. It's been four months now, so guess who called a completely different optometry office who actually got things done? I mean, I get that it's a pandemic and I've forgiven lots of mishaps over the past 18 months, but this one really takes the cake. read more

I had a horrible experience with this provider twice. The first time, they got the prescription all wrong and wouldn't stand behind their work. Their customer service is non-existant and they lack follow through with the promises they make. I paid my bill, received my glasses and then more than 4 months later they billed for for an exam they said I didn't pay for. Do not do business here! read more

I had the good fortune of seeing Dr Randall Fuerst at the Citrus Heights location (although I've also been to the Folsom location and it was stellar as well). I called because my eye had been feeling scratched and painful for 1/2 a day. They took me in immediately and said my eye is very irritated. Dr Fuerst was so kind and sincerely caring. He took the time to find the best prescription with the least cost to me as well as give me several days worth of drops for pain. He took his time with me even though I was the last appt of the day and they were closing when I left. Furthermore the optician ordered 5 days supply of daily contacts for me to try free of charge to see if I do better with those! She also adjusted my glasses for me before I left. What else could one want? Best service, clean, bright and state of the art facility with knowledgeable staff and Covid protocols to keep us all safe. I can't say enough good things about this place. Worst experience at this place. Went for a progressive glass- and after $260 and making wait 1 months and 1 week gave a computer/ reading glasses (when it's available in any store for $20/-!) they wanted $480/- (I.e. after insurance) for progressive glass. Please watch out! read more

I first reviewed EyeCenter Optometric on 11/26/2021. It is now August, 2022. They have still not made me progressive glasses that I can actually use. Their last "reason" was that the frames are the problem - frames that they sold me! They still refuse to give me a refund. I do not understand how a business can make something you cannot use, and then refuse to give a refund. DO NOT BUY GLASSES HERE. $250 down the drain! read more

My eye exam with optometrist and his staff was great. However, after paying $600.00+ out-of-pocket for 2 pairs of glasses (after insurance covered some costs) and being told it would take approximately 10 days, I did not hear from the office at all. On Day 24 after paying for the glasses up-front, I had to call the office to find out the status. Had to go through some automated portion of a call before being transferred and then it was to an answering machine. Waited two hours for a call back that never came. Called again and did get a human being on the line. Was told they sent a text message that my glasses were in, which I never received. She claimed they sent a text (did not give the date), but funny thing, the number they gave me was my landline. She also said glasses take 2 to 3 weeks (not the "approximate 10 days" I was told when they took my money). I have been going to this office for at least 15 years. Somehow, they could always find me via my email address and my mobile number (neither of which has changed). While I could highly recommend the optometrist, I would not recommend the service you get beyond that. Ask for the prescription and get your glasses somewhere else. read more

This review is after my exam with Dr. Randall Fuerst. The clinic itself is very professional, clean, and modern. I am very impressed with the imaging and modern eye tests. Staff is organized and appointments are handled with the latest technology. Dr. Fuerst: I am so thankful he was my doctor today!!! I have been complaining of depth perception issues for YEARS and optometrists only ever conduct rudimentary tests and say nothing is wrong. I come away feeling silly and confused. Today Dr. Fuerst took me seriously and had me do a couple tests, including one with a stick with some beads on it. Even I could see how my eyes were changing the distance. He gave me some exercises to do and I finally came away from an appointment feeling heard. Besides that he was obviously well versed in recent medical advances and dedicated to complete patient care. The eye doctor did not listen to my concerns and prescribed classes that I cannot see out of. Now I am out $200 dollars and the VA has been ripped off for the cost of the eye exam. I asked for a refund for the unusable glasses and was told they couldn't give a full refund. I am very angry, aggravated and disgusted. read more

Brenda Coen, O.D. is the worst OD that I've been to. I asked for a prescription for my dry eyes and she submitted a retail prescription to my mail order pharmacy causing me to pay more of a copay and get less of the medicine. I called the office and they had her redo the prescription and this time she sent it to my mail order correctly, but prescribed the wrong medication. I don't understand how this OD can practice let alone be at this office still. It makes me think that all the ODs at this office are as incompetent as Brenda Coen, O.D. When I called the office to explain all this they just ignored it. I changed eye doctors and have a great one now. However, I just don't think that Brenda Coen, O.D. is competent. read more

Dr. Larson has been fabulous but unfortunately, with the last billing fiasco and them not returning my calls to correct it, my family and I will be going somewhere else. I had to go as far as open an appeal to VSP to get it corrected. I am surprised they are in business operating this way. And on top of it, when it finally was corrected and a new bill sent, they made it sound like I was quoted something that was incorrect instead of owning that they did not apply my insurance correctly and overcharged me. An apology would have been nice for the numerous phone calls between Eye Center Optometric and VSP I had to make to get it corrected. If you ample time on your hands, this is the place for you. read more

Scheduled an appointment 5 days ago, came in today for said appointment and turns out they cant find my insurance. Rather than call me to inform me they cant run my insurance, even though they were somehow able to find it when I originally placed the appointment, they allowed me to come in today, just to tell me that they couldnt find my insurance. How did I go from being coverable to not being coverable within a few days, and why did you fail to communicate that the moment you found out?? The receptionist that claimed to have found out this information a day before, acted like she did not care that she had wasted my time, nor was there any apology for her negligence. She literally did not see the problem with having that information and failing to communicate that with me. Apparently it's an inconvenience for their staff to contact their clients. read more

There were two positive things about my experience here: they got me in on the same day and Courtney was very friendly and helpful. Now to start with the bad... I waited 30 minutes past my appointment time to be seen. The optometrist, Dr. Lee, was very pushy and dogmatic. I explained that I've never had a pair of glasses that didn't make my eyes or head hurt if I wear them too long or for reading. I'm near-sighted, so I always take my glasses off unless I need them for distance. I told him that I wanted to look into bifocals or progressive lenses that don't have any correction on the bottom for this reason. He was very pushy and dogmatic, insisting that I wear my glasses constantly, even when reading or on the computer. I tried that before for the last 5 pairs of glasses I've had and it's never worked for me, only given me bad headaches. He ignored my concerns, so I dropped the issue. He then tried to get me to purchase contacts but my insurance will only cover one or the other, so if the contacts didn't work for me, I'd be out of luck. When it was time to pick out a pair of frames, Michaela either lied to me trying to earn a higher commission or was very unknowledgeable about her job. I looked up my insurance policy earlier that day, and it said my copay for progressive lenses should be $40. She insisted that it was $90. I even pulled up my account on my phone to show her my breakdown of benefits, and she still insisted on $90. Finally, I threatened to take my business elsewhere, and she suddenly realized she got the numbers mixed up. Overall, I was at the office for over 2 hours, from checking in to paying my bill. Way too long of an ordeal. They told me my frames would be ready for pick-up in 7-10 business days. 10 business days later, I still had not heard from them so I called. The first day, the woman who answered told me it was an issue with my insurance company and that she would have someone call me back. That made no sense because I already paid in full and I saw the insurance authorization. 24 hours later, no one called me back so I called again. This time, the woman who answered told me she would check into the issue and that they were running a bit behind. She reassured me that they would call me soon. Two days later, I finally got a call saying my glasses were ready for pick-up. I'm happy with them, but they still give me a headache if I wear them too long. I thought I was forever done with this office, but that would've been too good to be true. A few days ago, I got a text and email from them reminding me of my next appointment. I didn't have any other appointment scheduled! I called and cleared that up. Then just now, I got a call saying my glasses are ready for pick-up. Apparently, they ordered 2 sets of my glasses. It seems that nearly all of the staff are careless about their jobs. This entire experience was terrible and I would never recommend them. read more
