We've been going to Stanton for a few years now. When we went for our annual visit yesterday, we were greeted with a clip board & some instructions to call our insurance for coverage. Is this like Walmarts self check. At that moment I realized how outdated they are. Coming back to add to my earlier review, and say that if I could give negative stars I would. I just had an exam from an actual optometrist, who was competent and cared about me as a patient, and was diagnosed with SECONDARY CATARACTS after her exam failed to provide me with an adequate prescription--a prescription which provided me *markedly clearer vision* than the one that Stanton tried to pass off on me. She couldn't correct me past 20/40, which was not reasonable or acceptable, and took one whole minute to actually, y'know, *examine my eyes*, like a competent optometrist who couldn't provide me with an adequate prescription would, and found I have secondary cataracts developed since my lens replacement surgery a few years ago. Apparently correcting this will be a simple in office laser procedure that my health insurance should cover, and she is having her staff fax my pcp first thing tomorrow morning asking for an urgent ophthalmology referral for me, then they'll call shortly after to make sure it was received and request the name and number of the person I should contact to follow up with and call me with that. The 'optometrist' at Stanton, on the other hand, SIGNED OFF on a clearly unacceptable prescription, which I told both the tech and the person I talked to after it was signed off on was incredibly unclear. And then that person tried to inform me that because the prescription the tech developed for me pushing buttons on a computer agreed with the scan the machine had done when I first came in I should accept it and be happy with it and tried to sell me glasses. I am *livid* that the so-called optometrist who never even examined me was willing to sign off on that sham of a prescription and had no concern for the fact it would not have provided me with clear vision, and simply wanted me to pay for the exam and buy over-priced glasses and go away. And the most enraging part is that 30 years ago I probably would have, because I was a doormat, and hundreds of other people probably still do, because they assume the 'experts' know what they're doing. I'll be calling to demand the name of the provider who signed off on that prescription so I can report them to whatever governing body or regulatory agency is appropriate, because that was a travesty and I'm *incredibly* angry. Again, I don't hold the office staff responsible for this, they need to make a living and they're following the script they're given. This business model is a scam run by people who are just looking to make as much money as possible with no concern for proper patient care, and I'm thoroughly disgusted. Do not, under any circumstances, go to any Stanton Optical if you value the health of your eyes. read more

Pretty disappointing. The alleged cost of these glasses was over $450, of which I paid about $150 after insurance. Stunned that I received these with glue strings and plastic shavings hanging off the edges of both lenses. The employee made no attempt to have me try them on or to adjust them. Also had to ask for a case, which I got (cheap clear plastic one). I was here about 5 years ago and had a much better experience. This was my first experience with Stanton Optical. Anmol Bahia provided me with extraordinary customer service from the moment I walked in the store. She helped me find new frames for the ones I had broken in a matter of minutes and gave me what I felt was a very fair price. Sunglasses had manufacturers defect. Under magnifying glass you could see air bubbles. They broke the second time I put them on. They will not stand behind product. Was told "I have a warranty, pay me $40". If it's under warranty why do I pay? They manufacturer the glasses themselves. It is very very poor quality. You could buy frames from Walmart and get better. Was told it's because I let them get too warm. These are freaking sunglasses. Are you telling me they can't get warm? I've never had a pair of Oakleys break. And they cost less money than this garbage generic crap Stanton sells. DO NOT DO BUSINESS HERE they don't stand behind product. I AM NEVER GOING TO ANY STANTON AGAIN. Update: the glasses I got from here have already lost a lens.. it's been less then a month! I even brought up to them that the lenses looked like they were not all the way secured in the frames and they assured me they were fine. Now I get to go spend more money getting new glasses somewhere else. The problem with this Stanton is how many times I had to go back and forth in order for them to get my glasses right. I had to go in a grand total of 7 times. 1st I went in I had an appointment to get my eyes tested and get a new prescription if needed. I had to call and get my own insurance information and the employee didn't really any instructions of what was needed and just kept walking away so I ended up calling my insurance 4 times to get all the info needed. They didn't even have an actual human in person to do the eye exam, it was some guy on a screen who asked me a bunch of questions and never showed me the prescription he decided on before approving it. I picked 2 frames, paid and left. 2nd I picked up my first pair of glasses 2 weeks later. I tried on the pair they had ready and told the employee immediately something was wrong and the prescription didn't look right, she said give it a week and "I'll adjust to it" well I definitely did not and I had a migraine all week. 3rd I went and picked up my second pair. I told the employee I wanted to be retested because the glasses were not right she set and appointment a week from then. 4th I went in and was reexamined by an actual person this time and he found three things, 1. I have a stigmatism in my left eye, 2 both my eyes cross and 3, the glasses Stanton had originally given me were in fact the wrong prescription. So they sent off to have my glasses fixed with the new lenses. 5th The same day I had the re-testing appointment I got a message my glasses were done. I went and picked them up. They did not have the sunglass feature I had paid for. But I had already left by the time I noticed so I decided I would wait until I picked up my second pair to let them know and just get a refund at that point because I was sick of the back and forth. 6th When I picked up my second pair of glasses I asked them for a refund because I did not want to come back and was told they would just order the correct lenses and I would in fact have to go BACK for the 7th time to get the correct lenses. The employee who "helped me" during most of these visits is apparently an assistant manager never apologized for either mistake that was made or made any attempt to take accountability for it, she asked me "oh well did you pick them up same day?" And when I said yes she said "well that's why they're wrong" like it was my fault for them being made wrong and sending the email saying to come back and pick up my glasses. The fact that they got my prescription completely wrong also was never addressed or acknowledged. I'm definitely not coming back to this Stanton ever and probably won't go to any Stanton in general because this was such a hassle to get my glasses, that I paid a lot of money for, correct and they made me feel like I was stupid for telling them they messed up multiple times. There was never any accountability or apology it was really just ridiculous. read more

My initial visit was on 12/8. I did have to come back because my prescription was not right. No biggie, I'm a bit of a special case so I had to make an appointment with the optometrist. Anmol was beyond amazing. She spent a considerable amount of time helping me pick out two frames that looked perfect on me. I have never worn glasses before like I am supposed to, so coming in I had zero idea of what size, shape or color I wanted. Anmol was so exceptionally patient in finding options for me. She gave honest feedback on how each pair looked and stuck it out until I was happy. Since picking up my glasses, not only is it beyond great that I can see (I had no idea how bad my vision was, and now I feel like I have super powers.)......But I get tons of compliments on how great the frames look on me. My husband just went to get his contacts from this place and AGAIN, they used the refractionist not the actual doctor. Obviously the prescription was wrong. You CAN NOT accurately do an eye exam over zoom. They're just being unprofessional and lazy. My husband went back to let them know his prescription was completely wrong. The issue was that they lowered the power in both contacts. He had to drive to work with those contacts in. It's incredibly dangerous to drive while unable to see properly, but of course these people don't care. So he asked for a refund. They denied it saying that it's a service fee. FOR WHAT? You guys literally didn't do anything. Besides get his contacts wrong and make him suffer. My husband has now paid $60 for contacts he's not even going to have. And we have to make an appointment somewhere else now. Oh but Stanton offered their doctor. HELL NO. Why would I give you people another opportunity? You messed up my contacts and now my husbands. She helped me find a fun pair, she adjusted a pair to make sure they fit, explained everything so in-depth, she made sure I was comfortable with what I was spending! Should I be truthful and say that it was one of the worst exams I have ever had, or should I water it down. I'll water it down. At 7350 Madison (2024 year): The Stanton frames/lenses side is good, unfortunately the exam side is not good. The general shared staff of both sides are friendly and do their jobs good. I went in to get a small change to my prescription. The Dr dude he talked randomly about bent trees for about 20 minutes ''before'' then briefly examining my eyes. Then he said NO change. Dude was very unprofessional. He barely tried testing any adjustments to my old prescription before saying NO change again. (To simplify the poor experience I had with them, which has happened repeatedly at different visits). Also the lenses in the exam machine were dirty/foggy as always; its the same with the telepresence machine, foggy. I'm done with "California Physicians Eyecare Group". (The current eye exam company within many Stanton Optical locations in Sacramento.) Some of their exam doctors are ok, but many of them do not listen to the customer/patient about eyesight needs. I had to pay almost $100 dollars for that visit, To end up getting nothing changed in my prescription. Another sign the country is going down the drain. read more

My daughter lost her glasses and her optician office told me they didn't have an appointment for a month. I had visited Stanton a couple years ago and swore I'd never be back. I reluctantly made an appointment, as they do same day visits. We were warmly greeted by Alicia, who I later found out is the manager. The staff at the reception area were so sweet and helpful. I observed each and every customer who came be immediately greeted. We had my daughter's glasses within an hour and they even helped us save some money. What a difference from my previous experience! Placed an order and was told it would be two weeks... after 3 weeks I called and it turns out they never submitted my contact order. When I called after a month and a half I was told it's almost here but couldn't give an estimate. Tried requesting my prescription to go elsewhere and it took me two hours on hold to get it as they did not want me to go somewhere else. Horrible communication and customer service. Do not believe their estimates at all. UPDATE: I was told by the employee that I was within network and they' would be using my insurance for my benefits. My insurance informed me that they lied and are not actually within the VSP network and I have to pay additional fees for going out of network. When I called and they ran my information I thought I was good to go... this store and company is ridiculous. read more

Don't go here!! Don't fall for their deals, cheap products & wrong eye prognosis (twice!). Went in for READING / computer glasses, I came in to pick up they gave me progressives (with Dr. that meets you on a TV screen). Went back a week later to meet with Dr. in person. Come back in two weeks for pick up. came in glasses were blurry, tried at home for a couple hrs, made me nauseous. Brought back in asking, can I just get my money back? sure, two weeks later no refund. I called asking where is my refund? Oh you need to bring back the lenses. Uhh I asked the girl if you wanted me to do that, she said "NO". Month plus later got my refund minus $70 for exam. I said you're charging me for two exams that you didn't get right? Yep... Let's begin by saying 'You get what you pay for'. The experience was worse than their commercials. I was skeptical when I ordered because the person seemed to have no knowledge of what she was doing. Went to pick up today and the right arm of the frame was very loose, I asked for the clerk to tighten it and was told that, because the arms were spring loaded, it could not be tightened. Another clerk chimed in to say 'It doesn't matter, When the other arm wears out they will be the same'. Wow, really? Also the grinding of the lenses was sloppy and unacceptable (see pics) Sloppy lens grinding I asked where the second pair of glasses I ordered was, the clerk looked up on the computer and told me they were in Florida. I asked her when that pair would be shipped, she checked the computer again ans said that she was not sure 'Maybe one or two weeks'. After a bit more conversation and questioning it was discovered that the frame for the pair of glasses that were 'in Florida' had actually never left the shop and were in a tray on the counter behind this clerk. I'll add that it took 30 minutes for the computer to generate a refund receipt. One person told me they had been waiting 45 minutes. During my time in the shop three other people came in for refunds. This store is a hot mess. And I would never spend a dime here. Arrived to workers behind the glasses window. They ignored me until I went over to them because the eye exam area is on the other side. Started my eye exam with the desk guy where they do the pictures and blow air in your eyes. Then moved to the standard room with the chair. I was confused because there was no doctor. I then looked up at a tv screen and some young lady in, a lab coat, introduced herself as a technician. She wasn't an eye doctor. I was like what? Where's the doctor. The response was that the doctor is only in on Tuesdays. I'm sorry, but what???? This whole working remote thing has gone too far. A virtual eye appointment with someone who is not even a doctor? No thank you. I get it with a regular doctor if you have a cold or stubbed your toe and just want an X-ray. Virtual is fine. But eye appointment!? No. I will never go back there. read more

I got my exam done on 7/28 and was informed my trial lenses would be ready in two weeks on 8/11. After two weeks I got no notification that my contacts were delayed for another week. I found out by checking the status on my own. I waited and now I'm at the three week mark 8/18 and I contacted Stanton to check if my contacts have arrived and they told me it's now estimated to be at the store by 8/22. There is no communication and the representative I spoke to spoke very unclear and rushed me off the phone. I'm very dissatisfied with the service here. I'm glad I didn't order my actual glasses through them. I ordered glasses through another company and have already received them over a week ago. Please save the time and headache and go somewhere else. I wanted to try the trial lenses prior to ordering more but I'm glad I didn't purchase contacts through them either. I might not get them till Christmas. UPDATE: I got a call from Stanton, the person sounded condescending and said they were reaching out in regards to my social media review. They stated they can clear up pricing for me and are sorry I was unhappy with the prices. I never once mentioned pricing. WTF? They are such a confused company. read more

Stanton Optical is a bigger joke than their commercials. My husband needs prescription safety glasses for work and a pair for home. $700 later they were not right. We went back twice for exams. They when they finally got the script right, the glass came back with 2 rights and not left. We were going to have to wait another week for his work glasses. Do not believe their advertising because it really is ridiculous. You cannot get two pairs for $79.00 and and eye exam the same day unless you are in the .001 percent of people with no issues. The eye lab on premises is basically for show and nothing seems to be running smoothly or on time. I had an appointment and get there to find out it's a virtual appointment and it's crazy impersonal. When they are flashing comparison screens, I was told do not squint. When I said I couldn't read a line, they said "try it with squinting". Then I had to reschedule to see an actual doctor in person who only is on-site twice a month. I made an appointment which turns out means nothing in regard to time since they routinely overbook in the doctors own words. No one tells you anything. They point out the $79.00 glasses to try on and say nothing about all the other walls. I ended up paying $450.00 and there is a 18 DAY wait. I was reassured I was getting the best price in their current promotion. They did not show me the promotions available. The virtual exam should be stated. Also they said dilation is never necessary. Team and manager especially helpful!! Their selection of frames seamed endless, and they went above and beyond my expectations when helping me choose the right frames for me. I have only needed glasses for the past year and it's been a huge learning curve finding glasses that fit my active lifestyle. For those new to this like me... if your glasses don't fit like they do when trying on display glasses, they can be adjusted! They heat up the temples and temple tips and bend them to be more comfortable or secure when you're wearing them. Now I want a pair for every day of the week! Haha read more
