It's nice to see chef/owner Scott Boswell still in charge of this popular restaurant on the edge of Jackson Square. The last time Jamie W and I dined here was over fifteen years ago on our last trip to New Orleans, much too long but it is what it is. My breakfast here was among the most memorable I've had anywhere. It was the Corned Beef Hash made up of Boar's Head pastrami with Poached Eggs and Creole Hollandaise Sauce (see my previous review). The possibility of repeating that meal excited me. When we arrived, it was bustling with tourists, but the historical decor was mostly the same. The dark wood finishes and marble-like table tops were still here, though they were obscured by the number of families huddled around the tables. We had no trouble getting a table with a clear view of St. Louis Cathedral. I was happy to see 'Corn Beef Hash' on the menu but the eggs were sunny side up rather than poached. It was $19 and came with Creole breakfast potatoes and hollandaise sauce (Photo 9). On the plus side, the hash was made from the same pastrami and cut up into the chunks I remember so well. Along with the seasoned potatoes, this part was satisfying. The fried eggs and hollandaise sauce were not quite as good, and the presentation was more at the greasy spoon level. Jamie was happier with his soup & salad combo. He had the $10 Small File Gumbo with gulf shrimp, oysters, chicken Andouille sausage, rice, and scallions accompanied by a couple of baguette slices (Photo 8). The $9 Mixed Green Salad was a nice light touch definitely missing from my meal (Photo 7). Don't get me wrong. I think Scott is still doing a fine job running the place even if lightning refused to strike twice for me. The prime French Quarter location is quite ideal for infrequent tourists like us, and the po' boys that passed by looked awfully good. Even though the busker outside kept referring to me as Mr Miyagi, the vibe here was friendly if a tad harried. Good to see them thriving after all these years. FOOD - 4 stars...not the corned beef hash I remember but still hearty goodness AMBIANCE - 4 stars...loudish in a vintage building SERVICE - 4 stars...a bit harried TOTAL - 4 stars...still a good find for breakfast or lunch NOLA style RELATED - Exploring New Orleans? Very busy breakfast place. Noisy and crowded. Service was okay. Needed to ask for refills. Food was passable. It was warm upon arrival. I ordered what I thought would be a local dish since it had Cajun spice and creole hollandise. It delivered neither. And there was definitely not enough hollandise or yolk from the egg to help with the huge pieces of French bread underneath. Was not impressed.

Husband and I wanted something light to eat and a spot that had Bloody Marys. Stanley did not disappoint. You can order the Bloody Marys as a single, double, or tripple and options of their house vodka or others. We both went with single and House vodka of choice. They compared with pickled green beans, olives, and cucumber. We had their beer battered onion rings. Very good. Nice light and crispy not to mention a little sweet. Service was prompt. They bring you out ice waters too. This place seems like it would be upscale but it's casual. Located near Jackson sq you can watch the street performers at work from the window seating. They have some small outdoor seating. Not a lot of wiggle room when it comes to the indoor seating.

I can't believe I've been coming to NOLA for almost 20 years, and I've never tried this place until now. I will admit that as utterly ridiculous as it sounds, it's the name/sign that never appealed to me, so I always just walked right by it. But I finally decided we were going to try it out. We came in for brunch. Sat right at the bar, no wait. Clean, bright, comfortable. Friendly servers. We got Bloody Marys to start. I'm not a huge Bloody Mary person, but when I do drink one, I want it to taste like this. Nothing crazy, not too bold, don't need bacon hanging on the side. It was just right. And my first time having a pickled green bean in it. I liked it. I ordered the Omelet Sandwich which I knew was risky cause I don't like omelets, but I wanted something like an egg sandwich so it sounded good. I am so glad I did. It was very likely the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. Delicious. It was put together well so that every bite was easy, it didn't fall apart trying to bite through the bacon. Omelet perfectly cooked. Bread soft but still held up. Pecan smoked bacon just the right texture. I topped every bite with crystal hot sauce and every bite was perfect. I don't even like hot sauce that much. It was one of those meals, where you know not only will you remember it, it will impact how you look at others forever. Others in this case being breakfast sandwiches. Husband got Eggs Stanley. He said it was good. He's not a big fan of poached eggs, but he enjoyed them. Never had fried oysters for breakfast before but that was why he wanted to try them. It was good. Frankly, he could have hated his meal and said it was terrible and I wouldn't have cared. I was having one of the most enjoyable brunch meals in my life. And I think I have a lot of those. But few in NOLA surprisingly. But future trips to the Big Easy will look different now. Cause every trip will hopefully include a visit to Stanley with its off-putting font on the door sign. And Lord willing, they'll always have the Omelet Sandwich on the menu. Just waiting patiently for me to get over my weird hang up's about fonts, and make another beautiful food memory in my beloved New Orleans.

In a city of breakfasts of Begnets.... Stanley brings the real savory food to the table. The breakfast potatoes were crispy and seasoned, the eggs runny, the hollandaise as Cajun as it could be and we left full and happy. Coffee and root beer (I tried the local brew with Louisiana cane sugar) were both to taste. Our service was quick and friendly. The views of the square and ambiance were solid.

Nice place and friendly service. Breakfast served all the time which is lovely. The Eggs Benedict Po Boy was pretty good. Reasonably priced too for the location.

The food... amazing! ' Finding the entry .... Challenging. It took us a while to find how to get inside, as the entire outside is an old French building with small doors all around the outside, all of them looking like windows. Inside, it's tall ceilings, open seating, and very welcoming. Sitting by the windowed doors being able to see outside towards Jackson Square was very nice. The tables were small, but they work. Almost French cafe type. I had the eggs Benedict and they were amazing. The shade was delicious. Wife had some sort of breakfast sandwich that came in parts that you put together however you choose. It was good as well. Staff was super friendly and patient. Place was very comfy and the ambience was great. We will definitely return.

My husband enjoyed his Corned Beef Hash. Normally the Breaux Bridge Benedict is much better. This time the Boudin was too smokey and one egg overcooked. I swap bacon for the ham and add a side of oysters. The oysters were very good. Not worth the $60 plus tip when we just had water to drink.

    The restaurant faces Jackson Square.

Recommended by my taxi driver, and didn't disappoint! I came here during Sunday morning for brunch, and luckily there was no wait. The restaurant was packed, but there were always a few tables and bar seats open throughout my meal. I had a very hearty meal that was great for the price - loaded grits and a small gumbo. The gumbo was the star of my meal. You get so much for what you pay for and it's delicious.

This review is overdue. This place is one of my favorite brunch spots. Every time I come here I leave happy & full. Real food at a reasonable price. They are located in Jackson Square & they face the cathedral. I like their medley of adding seafood to poached eggs or good house-made boudin to their dishes. Their cocktails are good too. I came here for my own birthday brunch & my best friend noticed that I always order fries when I patronize this place. Their fries are delicious! PS, their servers are trained well. They are always happy & welcoming. I've never had a bad experience. The ambience is like a tavern with windows surrounding that allow you to view what is happening within the square. Two entrees, one side, two cocktails & the bill rounds out to $80..... Well worth it!

We checked into our nearby hotel a bit early in the day and was looking to hit the streets for a spot to get a chill/light breakfast, a coffee and maybe a cocktail. We found all the things at Luzianne Cafe. Whether you belly up to the bar or grab a table, both of which are first come first serve, you start at the counter where you order, pay and grab your table number. It appears that during busy times they allow you to sit first and order from the QR at your table, this is an assumption given the code to order at the table, but the sign at the entry directed folks to the counter to order before sitting. For breakfast, we got the breakfast biscuit which came with eggs, bacon and cheese, and sided it with grits. The breakfast sandwich was solid, eggs were a bit soft and grits were more mealy than we are used to, but I think that may be authenticity of the area more than anything. I opted for the three option omelet with onion, sausage and gouda plus a side of sausage links. The omelet, though odd sounding combination turned out to be solid. Maybe it was my options, but it was decently "one note" in flavor. I tossed a little hot sauce on and that helped. However, while the sausage links were not much to look at, they were tasty, with a nice snap to the casing and meaty inside. To go with our breakfast, I got a cold brew with a splash of almond milk while my partner embraced NOLA and started his day with a bourbon sour. Both of us enjoyed our choices! Service was friendly and helpful at the counter/bar. The food runner was nice and then another member, assuming the Manager, that stopped by to check on us mid meal. She was super friendly and nice. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and drinks at Luzianne. Minor things noted, mainly on the cook of the eggs, but nothing awful. It his the spot and checked the boxes!
